NX6600GT TD128E SLI (2 Different Looking Cards)

Ive just purchased a 2nd NX6600GT TD128E. The problem is it looks completly different to the one i have at the moment.
http://msicomputer.co.uk/products.aspx?product_id=703544
The 6600GT thats in my PC is exactly as its shown on the Site. But my new 6600GT is Longer and has a different Heatsink,
Its Bigger with Black plastic on top and has "6600GT" witten at the top and "Game With MSI at The bottom".
However it has the NX6600GT TD128E on the back.
When ordering the card it was starated exactly as my one in my PC but no picture. Will this cause problems or
as they are from the same model it will work ok.
Many Thanks

try with better PSU that Codegen 400W 3V/20A 5V/22A 12v/16A  is crap brand and not enought powerfull also.
other parts also look suspiciol like the cheap "1GB DDR Dual Channel Elixir" maybe its memory instability problem also, Elexir is cheaper and values parts often defectives, however they isnt designed for Dual CH(thats no mean it cannot work, but they can make errors..) did you overclock your machine at all? did you passed memtest? but that question is for future. your mobo is Asrock 939SLI-eSata2 mhh will safe the comments...
try your PC with Good Brand PSU 1st dude. read this: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=76923.0
2nd reason for problem is your memory suspected..
think you are posting at wrong forum couse im sure problem isnt it in your MSI VGA. Which Drivers you are tried?

If the game is using a profile that uses SFR the screen is split in two horizontally ... pls see below
    Single frame rendering
Single frame rendering (SFR) mode in NVIDIA SLI works similarly to Metabyte’s PGC in the sense that the graphics card splits the workload horizontally across the screen. One card takes the upper portion while the second card takes the lower segment. The frame buffer data is then combined and sent to the monitor.
It’s important to note that SFR doesn’t necessarily split the screen directly down the middle; in some scenes the lower portion of the screen may be more complex than the upper portion, or vice versa. NVIDIA has developed custom load-balancing algorithms that are designed to take this into account, and split the screen appropriately – if one GPU takes longer to render, no problem, the driver just gives that GPU less work to do.
    Alternate frame rendering
Up to now, ATI’s Rage Fury MAXX was arguably the most well known card to take advantage of alternate frame rendering. Rather than splitting the work up every frame like in SLI, with AFR, each graphics core handled alternate frames. Graphics core one would handle everything in frame 1, while graphics core two would then handle frame number 2. Each chip renders every other frame instead of alternating lines in the same frame, as 3dfx had done with scan-line interleave. If one GPU doesn’t finish drawing its frame, the remainder is pushed to the second GPU. This is the same concept NVIDIA has employed for their SLI technology, only we’re dealing with two distinct graphics cards, rather than two graphics cards on the same core.
The most well known downside with AFR has been perceived “lag” that may be felt by some twitch players in very fast-paced first-person shooters such as Quake 1 or Quake 3. The argument is that user inputs, such as a quick flick of your wrist to nail your opponent in mid-air with your rail gun may feel lagged. In theory, this could happen when the second AFR scenario we described occurs – GPU1 doesn’t finish its frame and the remainder is passed to GPU2 – there could be a lag between the key being pressed and the output being shown on the screen. Ironically enough, NVIDIA used this same argument to tout their GeForce 256 over Rage Fury MAXX five years ago.
We played a little Half-Life 2 (which uses AFR by default) to test out this theory, but didn’t perceive any additional lag during our “testing” sessions. Buffering kicks in when data is split between GPUs, and it appears to work well. Also keep in mind that today’s shooters aren’t as fast-paced as they were a few years ago.
Currently, AFR is NVIDIA’s preferred mode for SLI. In general, AFR uses less communications overhead (as no communications overhead between GPUs is used as long as frames are contained to each GPU), allowing it to scale better than SFR. NVIDIA also says that applications with heavy vertex loads benefit less from SFR.

  • GTX 980 SLI , two different version cards.

I have two MSI GTX 980 gaming 4G cards ,they are different in memory. hynix and samsung. But the problem is that they are not performing the same. In the screenshot I attached you can clearly see that one working about 10 Celcius degrees higher than the other, with lower VDDC and a bit lower GPU clock. You can see I have overclocked the cards but this happen in stock clocks also. Is the card faulty? I need someone to help me with some information about this, because I bought them from amazon and I still have the 30 days return policy available to replace it.

    Hi,
It's normal that 1 card is hotter than the other in SLI. I don't have to guess but the hotter one is in very first PCIe x16 slot.
You could try switching them around and see if temps slightly decrease, or increase the fan curve speed so both stay lower.
To be honest, for SLI it's been recommended to use cards that have blower heatsink/fan (like reference card), as with those open heatsinks/fans, they blow hot air on the other.
Also 72C for the card being in SLI and being the hottest of those, is very good. My old GTX770 was hitting 70C on FurMark and other stress tests without being in SLI.

  • NX6600GT-TD128E + NX6600GT-VDT128 in SLI mode

Hi, i got a cuestion for you my friends.
My PC originaly have one video card model NX6600GT-TD128E first model, it has been a good player in this gaming world, but i want to upgrade to SLI. I found on EBAY an option wich is the same card but VIVO edition, model NX6600GT-VDT128 first model. I want to know if i can use it on SLI configurtation with my existing card. My mobo is a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI. If there`s a problem with this particular configuration, Can i use another 6600GT but from different vendor?
Thanks, i will apreciate your comments

    NickNitrux,
With the latest ForceWare Drivers, you can even use two Vid Cards from different companies in SLI as long as they are the same chipset.
    Always glad to help.
    Take Care,
    Richard
P.S. Do not forget to report back when you get it.

First video card turned out to be bad.  The replacement card allows view of bios screens and post screen, but when Windows XP (pro) starts up, the video goes blank and Windows XP locks up dead.
Any suggestions as to what I need to do to get the video card up and running?

  • Is my NX6600GT-TD128E faulty?

I bought the MSI NX6600GT-TD128E in February of 2005. I haven't touched it since I first put it into my computer and it has been working fine for the past two years.
For the past month or so whenever I run something that uses accelerated graphics there is a ton of corruption on the screen. I have tried dozens of different configurations and tried it on multiple clean installs of Windows Vista, Ubuntu Edgy Eft, and Ubuntu Feisty Fawn (the last two are Linux distributions). Obvious I doubt it is a software problem if it just randomly stopped working and I tested it on multiple configurations.
I don't know if there is anything I can do about it and I was wondering if I should (or can) get it fixed under warranty? If I do, does it usually take a long time and how much will it cost?
I have tons of screenshots depicting the problem which I will attach.

well dunno about the warrantly since its 2 year old and hmm looks like cooler is heavy damaged.
you can ask your reseller about warantly or to How to contact MSI. for more information.
easy way to fix it just get and install after market VGA cooler. (NOTE: make sure it will be compatible with your VGA model).

  • NX6600GT TD128E - Freeze then go on

    Hello everyone,
I’ve these card for a few years now and always had the same trouble, when I’m playing game (and only when playing often on Counter Strike Source, Guitar Hero III,…), sometimes and randomly, my computer freeze a bit (one or two second), and then go on.
I don’t understand why, I’ve upgraded my motherboard bios; all my drivers are up to date… Tried with both nvidia and msi driver (which one is supposed to be better, for now I’m running with the last nvidia.)
My temperatures seem usual around 44°c when idle, and 65°c when playing. (With expertool).
I’ve never take care of this trouble because, I was at school and on the boarding house with my laptop so, I never really had the time to play.
    There is my configuration:
    ASUS A8N-SLI
    MSI NX6600GT TD128E (Bios version : 5.43.02.69.00)
AMD Ahtlon 64 3200+ (never goes above 55°c)
    Windows XP SP3
    1024Mo
    Audigy 4
    Maybe upgrading my bios ?
Or make some advanced test ? But which one ?
    Thanks for your concern.

I think you should try with decent PSU.
That PSU used is cheap noname and low quality.

  • NX6600GT-TD128E and Loose Heatsink

I just bought a NX6600GT-TD128E for a new build and it has the same loose heatsink problem, mentioned in earlier threads.  Does anyone know if MSI has addressed this issue?  It seems to be a design problem, to me.  It seems pointless to have Newegg swap the card, unless MSI has fixed the problem.  Since I like the package, I will probably keep the card and just replace the heatsink with an aftermarket cooler.  Here is what I see wrong with the heatsink:
Springs in attach pins do not have enough tension to hold the heatsink tightly against the GPU & memory
Any warping in heatsink or card makes the problem worse.
Mounting in a tower case (which most of us do) will make the problem worse (Gravity!)
Someone else mentioned the heatsink attached with thermal pads.  Mine just appears to be thermal compound, no adhesive, no pads.
I may do a little experiment with mine.  Mount it as is and checks temps and performance.  Then try a couple of aftermarket coolers and again check temps and performance.
    Other thoughts?  Wish me luck

Ok I see now. That looks nice in the pic but I can see where that may be a problem. I believe as long as the GPU is making good contact, the memory is not really an issue unless you intend to overclock. I have had issues with many other heatsink designs, and I usually replaced them with my own fasteners from a local hobbyshop or Ace hardware. I have been able to find plastic or PVC nuts, bolts and washers to suit my needs in most cases. It takes a little searching and is time consuming. I had a Ti4200 with the TopTech Cooler that I have had to do the same thing with. I then found that using an aftermarket cooler was the best soution anyway. I did a post in the sticky section somewhere, I think in the bulletin link about it.
Granted you should not have to accept this from a new product, and I don't blame you for being dissapointed. I don't think there have been any changes, so asking newegg to swap it would be rather pointless just like you said. You may be able to get them to swap it out for another brand, however, myself, I would prefer the MSI hardware and just get a nice aftermarket cooler or modify the fasteners.

  • How to use two different network cards on RT?

Hi everyone... I'm currently working on a project where I have to deal with the issue mentioned in the thread's topic: I have a PC with RT LabVIEW that has to be able to establish network connections using two different network cards. One will be used to connect via TCP/IP with a host computer that will show the data transmitted through shared variables; the other will communicate with another PC through Modbus protocol. The key is that each communication is done through a separate network card.
So far I haven't been able to figure out how to configure both things to happen. Does anyone know how to do this? Any tips will help.
For the RT communication I'm using a standard RT project, with the RT PC being given one of the IPs, and for the Modbus part, I created an I/O server with a master and a slave. Separately everything works fine, but when I get them together it simply won't work.
    Thanks for your help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sorry it took me so long to answer, I've been busy lately....I've found a solution to the problem I mentioned, and just in case anyone has similar problems in the future, I'll shortly describe what happened.
As Caseyw suggested, it was necessary to enable both network cards through the Measurement and Automation Explorer. The cause of the connections malfunction was actually that I wasn't using the "right" protocol for the Modbus communication, which ran on the secondary adapter. The solution was to use the URL protocol with the correct path on the field, addressing the right IP address. To avoid making this post a mixture of topics, I won't elaborate futher, but I got the gist of it, so if anyone is having similar problems whether it is working with several network cards or with Modbus communication protocols, feel free to contact me, I'll be glad to help.
    Thanks
