Nx6600gt-vtd128: 32mb Ram?

Hi,
"MSI Information" shows that my 2 days old MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP has only 32MB RAM instead of 128MB...
Is this an error of the software or is the card damaged?
Thanks!

Sorry, I don't understand you...
WinXP Home SP2 shows 128MB RAM, integrated RAMDAC.
What's correct? Why does the MSI Information tool show only 32MB RAM?
Should I replace this card?

  • Calling All NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP Users -- Post your temperature readings

Hi to all MSI  NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP Users,
I've recently purchased a  NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP card and have done some testing for a few days now. I read about the BIOS temperature modification and got it done with my card. To my surprise, the temperature reading is way above most of the temperature reading i see from you guys here. Here is my temperature reading :
    Idle : ~70C
    Load : ~90C
so far, i've only seen 1 or 2 users with the same overheating problem and i couldn't figure out what is wrong with my card. i can run 3dmark, games and everything else i throw at it without any system instability, but the temperature reading is making me nervous. 90C at full load is way too high and not acceptable. i've changed the thermal compound to ArticSilver Ceramique, tighten the screws to make sure the GPU Core and the HSF are making good contact. In fact, i did all that twice to make sure i get everything right. Other components on the board, including the PCB are equaly hot during full load. In fact, during full load, the heat is so intense that i couldn't put my fingers on the PCB or the HSF for more than 1 sec without getting my fingers burnt.
Problems i've given thoughts about are
    1. bad contact between the GPU core and the HSF
    2. faulty built-in temperature
As for problem 1, like i've mentioned above, i've double checked and reapply ArticSilver on the GPU and RAM chips. Just to be sure, the HSF itself is really hot during full load and quite warm during idle (tested using my fingers . so that means the heat is being transfered to the HSF correctly. (correct me if i'm wrong). As for problem 2, i couldnt tell because i don't have any reference tempearture monitoring device to compare the readings.
Im new to this card so i'm really hoping that more experience users will post something here, including your temperature reading for this card, to help me address this issue. If possible, I don't wish to change the onboard HSF. I'm using a 450Watt power supply. Please advice. thanks in advance.

I have two AGP MSI 6600GT's.
    1) Idles 46, load around 62
    2) Idles 52, load around 68
Both heatsinks were removed and Arctic Silver Ceramique added. Number 2 above is actually in a colder section of the house, yet has higher idle and load temp. I think the sensors are fairly accurate, but not if you have a faulty one which might be the case.
I suggest you get one of these which I use with one of my 6600GT's. http://www.bestbyteinc.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SEN-CNU-001
It's accurate to within 1C.  It is being used with card #1 above, at 46C idle the display is showing around 36 which makes perfect sense because the internal temperature can be higher by around 10-15C or even more.
If you suspect bad contact with the heatsink. Turn the lights down low, and shine a flashlight at the edge of the card. Look at the space between the heatsink and the GPU from the opposite side of the flashlight. If it's not making good contact you should see light between the heatsink and GPU. Another thing you can try is take the heatsink off and clean off all the compound. Put a piece of newspaper between the GPU and heatsink with no thermal compound. See if you can pull out the newspaper with no resistance. If you can't it's making contact. Make sure to re-apply thermal compound before using the card.

  • BIOS for NX6600GT-VTD128

    Hi,
where do I find information whether there is a new BIOS version for my NX6600GT-VTD128 (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=NX6600GT-VTD128&class=vga)? It seems that there are no downloadable BIOS versions available for graphics cards.
I don't have any MSI software installed since it didn't worked.
    Thanks!

they generally don't realease BIOS updates with MSI unless there is a specific well known documented issue. If they did it would be through the Live Update Utility and many times the card is improperly identified and flashed incorrectly. If it's working don't worry about it. VGA cards are not like motherboards. They usually get it right the first time.
The only time I see different BIOS's is if there is a different RAM package being used or there is a specific functionality update.
If you want to experiment and take the chance of rendering your card useless, you can look over at mvktech's website...just google.
Make sure you back up your original BIOS because, as Richard stated MSI does not make BIOS files available to the public and it's a royal pain to get it from them...trust me.

  • [GeForce 6] Big Problems with NX6600GT VTD128 AGP and Video Overlay

Got trouble to Install the NX6600GT VTD128 AGP VGA-Adapter right.
I already tried out with latest Drivers from MSI 71.22 and the ForceWare 66.93 NVidiadrivers, but no Overlay at all in my Grabbing Software.
It's a DV-Storm of Canopus with Storm Edit installed. With my Ti4200 (also MSI VGA-Card) never had those Problems.
In the Canopus Storm-Edit Software is an Preview-Window to check the grabbing Process. Now, with the new 6600GT Card it's a black screen.
When I press any key, shortly I see a TV Picture. It's an Overlay Problem of the 6600GT.
How do I have to install/configure the 6600GT VGA that Overlay is working fine.
    The System:
    Intel P4 HT 3,2 GHz
    ASUS P4P800 with AGP 8x
    DV-Storm in PCI Slot 2
    IDE Raid Promise Fasttrack 100
    1024 MB DDR400 Corsair CL2
Latency Timer on 128 (doesn't work with PCI Latency Timer = 64 too)
DirectX 9.0c, XP with SP2 and latest Patches, MSI-Driver Version 71.22 (or Reference Driver 66.93 NVidia)
This Configuration is working fine (Overlay = OK) when re-install the GeForce4 Ti4200 of MSI
    >>>Problem solved<<<
.....a wonderful Canopus Patch to "clean" the ForceWare Drivers like a big LIGHT in the Nvidia-DARKNESS gives hope and wellness to my PC

I found the solution while I cruised in the forum, I used Driver Cleaner to erase the driver file on my HD, and the installation worked perfectly... Sorry about my useless post

  • URGENT HELP: PC can't post after Bios Update on MSI NX6600GT-VTD128

The LiveBIOS utility on my PC showed that there was an updated BIOS of my MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 that I was using and I proceeded to update using the facility.
Everything seem fine until the system was rebooted, now the system refuse to post. All I see when I power on the system is a moment of power (e.g. I can see the lights on my keyboard and card reader), before they also disappear.
My system is a P4 2.4 Northwood running on a MSI 875P.  I had already cleared the CMOS on my motherboard but it didn't help.  I would appreciate greatly for any advice.

    Common mistake.
Unfortunately, the cure is likely to be painful.
Did you disable your Antivirus and Firwall before doing such a thing?
Video cards aren't like motherboards, and just updating for the simple fact that it's available is wrong regarding BIOS's for anything.
You should have a specific reason to do so.
Now, did you backup your old BIOS?
You may need to contact MSI directly to get the original BIOS and use a PCI video card so you can boot and see what you are doing to reflash your AGP card.
    How to contact MSI.
Thanks for the advice.  And you are right, the cure is painful, particularly, when I didn't back up the old BIOS and neither do I have a PCI graphics card lying around.
I did deactivated my antivirus whilst flashing, and there was no firewall running.

  • No Video-In signal for NX6600GT-VTD128

    Hi,
I'm having a problem with my NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP. The video-in is not working. I have connected my TV and a video camera via SVideo and Composite connectors but there is no signal. I am using various programs like Sage, PowerVCR, Premiere etc and have also selected the proper "source" in every program. Installed latest driver, 66.93 from NVidia, 66.72 and 71.22 from MSI... Of course 2.20_wdm-vivo driver from NVidia is installed as well.
    Please advise..........
    Thanks

4.04? Ic, didn't know that a newer version existed..... nVidia site has only 2.20 and nothing about VIVO in the beta drivers. I found 4.03 from Sparkle and 4.04 from Gainward...... I'll try these today and post tomorrow with the results.
    Thanks!

  • [GeForce 6] NX6600GT-VTD128 Video Capture

As many of you probably know, the v1.08 WDM drivers are Macrovision free. However, I can't install them on my NX6600GT-VTD128. I get the notorious "Code 10: Device cannot start" error when I use them. The supplied v4.05 work fine, but are NOT Macrovision free. What am I to do?
    System Spec:
    (All the latest drivers installed)
    MSI K8N Neo 2 (BIOS v1.5)
    Athlon64 3200+ (overclocked to 4200+, I love MSI)
    MSI NX6600GT-VTD128
    Sound Blaster Live! DE 5.1
    200GB WD HD (PATA)
    480W Thermaltake PSU
    WindowsXP SP2

I have exactly the same problem. I have downloaded the latest WDM driver kit from the nVidia site.
After installation two devices are detected. Going through the installation of the the first device (nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal)), this ends with the message that the device cannot be started (code 10).
The second device (nVidia Crossabr A/V) does install and start.
I want to use the video-in on my NX6600-128E for capturing old VHS tapes.
I have tried the WDM drivers both with VGA driver version 72.14 and 77.72. Same results!
Any help is much ap preciated!

  • Compatibility between MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 and motherboard

Hi guys, I want to know if there's compatibility between my motherboard "MSI 875P Neo-FIS2R AGP8X" and the "MSI NX6600GT-VTD128" because I want to buy this Video Card but my doubt is about the compatibility or maybe some errors, and I have a 400W Power Supply.. that's ok for this video card?... thnx !!!

    hi, how are you.
wel there are no cmpatibility issue with this motherboard and the video card... or i am not notify about...
but do you have to give "us" (all posiblle reply) more info about your pc, anyway the only limitation about it's the slot used, that motherboard uses agp8x and you have to buy a 6600vtd agp 8x, because thera are one model pci express that's all
the power issue: not a issue realy 400w power source are just enough
th real monster are hte 6800 family that need  470w or something like that to work fine
ok i hope  best to you and your newer card, and tellme how works this magnificent piece of technological art(in middle rank) and the capture feature with onchip video processor
    byee!!

  • MSI NX6600GT-VTD128 & MSI "3D! Turbo Experience"

    Hi,
yesterday I bought a MSI NX6600GT-VTD128. The card is running fine. I also installed the MSI tool "3D! Turbo Experience". However, the tool does not show any relevant information: no voltage, no memory clock, no fan speed...

    Hi,
As most will probably agree, 3D turbo is not a very useful piece of software.  Your best bet is not to use it.  There are lots of 6600GT posts here that address the monitoring issues of that card.
For memory clock and OC'ing you can use the coolbit reg update.  You can find a good write-up in the stickies at the top of the forum.
    Good Luck,

  • [GeForce 6] nx6600gt-vtd128 vivo driver for windows xp x64 edition?

Are there any (beta or release) wdm driver for this msi's nx6600gt-vtd128 for windows xp x64 edition?  If not, are there plans to make an x64 driver in the near future?

I have the same card, and i can't find ANY capture driver for it. Not even the WindowsXP 32-Bit.
Could you enlighten me on where exactly did you see the 32bit capture drivers? (Other than the MSI CD)
    EDIT:
Now I noticed you said NVDIA's Website, they're even older than the ones MSI provided on the CD. Older by like 2 years.
What I'm looking for, is a place where I can find fresh new WDM drivers. Or at least an online package of what's on the CD
Drivers should not be availiable only on a CD.

  • NX6600GT-VTD128 AGP D3D Problem

    Hello Experts,
first I want to show some screenshots to describe my problem.
    Counter-Strike Scource
    Half-Life 2
    Nascar Racing 2003
All screens are taken from a 1280x1024 resolution with 4x AA and 8x AF (Direct3D). After a few minutes this lines flicker on the screen but only in D3D and a 1280x1024 resolution. In Nascar I can switch to OpenGL and everything is fine. HL2 and CS-S are also fine in 1024x768 resolution. Do you think, this is a hardwareproblem or a ForceWare driver problem?
I tried the 71.89 and 71.84 but nothing changed.
    My system is not overclocked.
I could not appreciate that in lower resolution and with OpenGL everthing works fine.
    greetings

Thx for your response and tipps.
After a few tests with underclocking the card (core & memory) I had no luck and all problems already exists. Also if I disable AA and AF, set 4x AGP only and turn Fastwrites off.
My last try, befor the card goes back to the dealer, was switching the driver. I unistall the 71.89 driver and clean the system with a detonator destroyer. Then I install the nonofficial 76.44. Suprise, suprise, no problems with Nascar Racing 2003 Season and only minimal problems with HL2 and CS-S. A test with SWAT 4 was also successful (befor switching the driver I had the same problems like HL2 ... )
Sorry crull, i think u lost your money    . It looks like that the official forceware driver had a few problems with the 6600GT cards anfd many things looks like a beta driver.
I will do some more tests with 3D Mark 2003, stay tuned.
    regards
    ST
I can't understand how you can have those problems with the same drivers I have used with my NX6600GT-VTD128 running HL2 and CS.
I have tested probably around 7 or 8 drivers, some beta but nothing at all like what you got. In fact I haven't seen any artifacts with any of the drivers I have tested. Right now I'm using the 76.44's.
So how can you have all these problems with the same exact card and drivers that I do not have?
Even if you find it gets somewhat better with drivers, I still think it is hardware related or maybe drivers that are not directly video card such as chipset drivers. Just because of the fact I have not had any trouble like you have had using the same drivers, same game and same video card.
I didn't want to say this at the start but there isn't only software and hardware problems, there is also user problems as well. So I was really gonna put my money on user problem, but I was just being nice blaming it on the hardware. (kidding)    It doesn't matter anyway because any money I lose on that bet I can make up for it when you pay the bill I am sending you for my services.

    Hi
I would like to buy the GeForce 6600GT » NX6600GT-VTD128 graphics card from the retailer pixmania but i have a query about something they (pixmania) advertiste the GeForce 6600GT » NX6600GT-VTD128 as MSI NX6600GT-VTD128M - 128 Mo.
    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/130210/art/msi/nx6600gt-vtd128m-128-mo-t.html
May i ask what the M stands for after the VTD128 because ive always know it to be described as NX6600GT-VTD128 without the M.
And could you please confirm that that graphics card on pixmaina is the same as the one on the offical MSI site

    thanks all

    Ruud00,
I think M stands for Typo.

    P.S. MSI only makes one AGP 6600GT - NX6600GT-VTD128

  • JavaFx on Linux 2.4.26/ARM9 Processor/200MHz/32MB RAM

    Hi,
I am new to JavaFx technology, I would like to know whether I can have JavaFx on a Linux kernel 2.4.26 (no other commercial distribution), it is a touch screen based navigation system runs on a ARM9 processor (200MHz, 32MB RAM).
While searching, I found that JavaFx is supported on Linux platforms, but I couldn't find any reference to my particular version of Linux (Linux kernel 2.4.26). Is it possible to install and run JavaFx on this machine? Also please tell me whether standard JavaFx or JavaFx mobile is more suitable for this system.
    regards
    Jamsheer

I don't see this behaviour neither on the machine with intel video nor on the machine with nvidia.
No average load changes or memory usage increase. I don't have Arch kernel installed though only custom from sources.
You can find reports with increased load issues, but I never had this problem. It seems as these were related to specific hardware (AMD?) and kernel bug(?).
