NX6800 TD128 problem

I bought a NX6800 TD128 about 3 weeks ago.
As soon as i had installed it I put doom 3 staight onto my machine, so that I could test how fast it was.  But It wasnt great at all first thing what happened, As soon as i had started the game, was that the whole screen divided Up into small black triangles and flickered like mad . this only happenes If I am moving thou. If I don't move my charecter in doom 3 everything is great but If I start to move the whole monitor flickers. This doesn't only happen with Doom 3 but with XIII or Prince of Persia the Sands of Time. But with the latter two games It isn't so bad with PoP It hardly ever happenes (the flimmering) and with XIII It only happenes In outdoor leveles. But doom 3 Is horrible. I have already installed all the newest drivers for the VGA card (forceware61.77) and I've also got the newest ones for my motherboard (asus A7N8X) And I#ve got SP2. I'm not quite sure if my powersupply is good enough thou. It says It has 500watts butt in real life it only has 5v 30A 3,3 28 A an 15v A with 12v But that should do. I can't think thats the problem because I've already tested the Pc with all the extra bits like Cd drives and PCI cards unplugged and the flickering didn't change. what can I do ? Is my VGA card faulty or something ?
please help me

Speak to MSI and ask them the best way to solve this problem.

  • NX6800-TD128 DVI-D problem

    Hi !
I am a happy owner of ay MSI NX6800-TD128, which I have a problem with. When I connect it through the normal D-SUB cable (normal vga cable, everything is fine).
BUT when I am trying to connect it with the DVI-D cable, which is the purpose why I had bought it along with the 23 col BENQ LCD, there is no signal.
I had tried to manually change the Input source as well, but no luck.
The solution should be siple, could somebosy help me out please ?
HOW CAN I TURN ON THE THE DVI SIGNAL ?
    Many thanks,
    Moore

Test 1: Get another LCD monitor with DVI connection and test it on this graphic card.
Test 2: Also, test the card on another monitor with DVI connection that known to work.
If test 1 fails, return the graphic card.
If test 2 fails, return the LCD.

  • MSI NX6800 TD128 and Garbage Characters

Purchased an NX6800 TD128 on Saturday. Put it in the machine last night and all I get is garbage characters flashing on the screen
The Windows XP logo appears after a few seconds, this time with flashing green lines down the screen. The machine then either hangs with white flashing characters onscreen, or it reboots. If it reboots, same happens again. The spec is ...
    Athlon XP2600
    1Gb RAM
    1 x DVD writer
    1 x DVD ROM
    2 x 160Gb Western Digital HDD
    480w Tangen power supply
I put the old GeForce FX 5200 back in and it all works fine. Any ideas folks? Looks like it's a dead one to me

    Hi retro-squirrel
One thing you should know before you post a problem is to give a more precise signature . If you don't give the max amps of your PSU (3.3v/5v/12v), make and type of ram (preferably with lat & cas), most of the moderators won't bother answering. I would imagine they are sick of telling people to make more informative signatures . Here is a link to give you a hand...
Suggestions on posting and getting better answers
This is from GlennVidia who is one of the mods from this area, if you fix up your sig he may be able to steer you in the right direction. He is very knowledgable and extremely helpful . I'll pop back later to see how you are going. Hopefully you don't have to RMA that card of yours.

  • MSI NX6800-TD128 Vs MSI K7N420Pro

I got myself a new graphics card today.
Unfortunately everything has not gone that well. Once I installed the new graphics card I noticed a distorted image on the BIOS boot up screens:
Some of the characters would blink.
Strange flickering lines (always on the same areas)
Once I booted up Windows I had similar problems with flickering lines and flickering lines of blocks.
I tried installing the drivers but I the computer would black screen and stay there.
Does anyone have any ideas? Incompatibility with the motherboard? Faulty graphics card? Power supply?
    Thank you.

    Hi guys.
The NX6800-TD128 does not have a particularly big cooler so it fits in perfectly.
There is no cap immediately in contact with the card but I guess they are within ~4mm.
The power cable is inserted into the card.
The monitor cable is fully inserted and I've also tried using the DVI socket with the converter but that gives me the same problem.
I was previously using the onboard video.
I did remove the drivers and run DriverCleaner to remove all traces of the drivers. I don't think it's a driver issue as the problem also occurs on the screens prier to Windows loading. I did read somewhere that the drivers can tell you if your card is not getting enough power so I tried to install the latest WHQL drivers from nVidia's site but unfortunately Windows would black screen and stay there.
I did not add (or remove) anything, including RAM, when I first inserted the card.
I've since removed every PCI card and every drive to limit the power use/conflicts but that has not helped.
Now for the bad news (for me) (I'm worried you guys are going to say that this is the problem and that I'm going to have to go out and spend £50 on a high end PSU):
I've tried two PSUs (they produce slightly different distortions but they both produce them).
    Q-Tec
    "550W PSU"
    +3.3V@20A (Max, (Peak=30A)
    +5V@35A (Max, (Peak=40A)
    +12V@14A (Max, (Peak=20A)
    AOpen
    300W PSU
    +3.3V@28A
    +5V@30A
    +12V@15A
    (+3.3V&+5V=180W Max)
    (+3.3V&+5V&+12v=280W Max)
    Best regards guys.

i did call and they said they would have to call back, so I asked for an e-mail cus my parents would probably assume they were a telemarketer, because the person i was talking to did not have the information on his computer as to why it was taking so long.  so i should be gettin that tonite or tomorrow morning.  I'll update later for anyone who's interested in how long it may take for them

  • Big MSI RX9800Pro-TD128 problem

    Hi everyone!
I am a proud owner of a Radeon 9800Pro (MSI RX9800Pro-TD128) and I've got an issue that looks very much (or exactly) like this:
    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v302/IvanV/shot0000.jpg
If you failed do recognize it, this is a screenshot from 3DMark03 GT4. It happens with all driver versions I tried (from MSI and from ATI). It used to happen only in GT4, so I wasn't to concerned, but now it also happens in HL2 when AA and AF are turned on (which is also strange, because I didn't use 3D Mark with AA and AF). The card is not overheating and works fine in other situations. My system:
    CPU: AMD Athlon64 3000+
MB: MSI K8T Neo (VIA K8T800 chipset)
RAM: 512MB DDR 400MHz Kingston ValueRAM etc...
    Windows 2000 Professional with SP4, DX 9.0c

Today, after months of having this issue, I solved the problem. Still, I don't understand why this worked, so please someone explain it to me. I found two solutions:
    1) Change AGP aperture size to 256MB. Since I have only 512MB of RAM, things got a bit less smooth, so I was thinking, since things did work from time to time, and guided partly by memory and partly by instinct I
    2) returned AGP aperture size to 128MB, and removed desktop wallpaper, screensaver, custom Windows appereance in Display Properties and it also worked.
I retested all variations several times to make sure, and right now I have little doubt that this is a permanent solution. I only don't know why, so if anyone could tell me, I'd really appreciate it.

  • MSI GF FX5900 TD128 Problems

I recently bought a new GeForce FX5900 TD128 from MSI and I am having a couple of problems. I am geeting some frequent crashes in games such as Morrowind (every 30 minutes to every hours). The problem is the same in other 3D applications. Could the problem be related to DirectX9.0a? Should I reinstall DirectX8.1? Should I try seeting the BIOS (and the card) to AGP 4X? Or is the card deffective (It runs fine in 2D applications and on the desktop).
    here are my system specifications:
Motherboard: MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR (Original BIOS)
    CPU: AMD Athlon XP 3000+
    Memory: 2X512K of Crucial DDR400 (Non Dual-Channel)
    Graphic card: MSI GeForce FX5900 TD128 (Nvidia's 4.4.0.3 drivers)
    Screen: Samsung Flat 19"
    Sound: Onboard sound
    Power Supply: Antec 480W

Sorry for getting back to you so late.  I had to travel a bit for work.  My card is set at AGP 4X and everything is fine.  Thanks a lot.  It's always the same thing when you buy new hardware... You got to be patient.  At least, I got less problems then my friend with his new Radeon 9800 that crashes all the time :D.
By the way, sorry for my bad english...  I come from Montreal and I'm french canadian...  It's been a long time since I had to write in English...
    Thanks again

  • NX6800 Ultra problems..

    My specs:
    MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
    AMD Athlon 64 FX 55
    MSI NX6800U-T2D256E
    2xTranscend 1Gb DDR 400 RAM
    Promise FastTrak S150 SX4
    2xWD Raptor 74GB 10k
    WD Caviar SE 160GB 7k
    NEC DVD RW
    Samsung DVD ROM
    Viewsonic VP191b
    Enermax Noisetaker 600W
    Current driver : 77.77
I've done a lot of reading up on the 6800Ultra and see that many people are having problems with it. Amazing that the MSI knowledge base is so poorly constructed seeing as there are so many people with various problems posting here.
My main problem is that in a normal windows environment I am getting a lot of random 'freezes', short and long. Because my TFT montior is sensitive to changes I get a black screen for 1 or 2 seconds. Sometimes I get a noticably longer freeze where I can't close or open windows, even though my mouse pointer still moves, other times it is just a quick stutter, but because of the sensitivity of my monitor I get a quick black screen. Also in the odd game or two I get some strange graphic flutters. Because of my monitor, I think I see these flutters more than other people would, but I can't be sure. It's a brand new monitor btw and works fine with my older computer.
I have tried altering my clock frequency settings to match. For example, 425 for both 2D and 3D, but nothing changed. I also checked my power supply and it doesn't seem to be a problem; A 600W Enermax and I don't get any supply error messages like I've read other people have. I have tried various drivers, uptodate ones and rollback older ones. No changes there.
I tried checking the MSI update facility, but all that does is offer me an unknown driver and tell me that it doesn't know what I have installed (Seems ridiculous to me why MSI offered such a useless feature seeing as the card and mobo are both MSI and it can't even recognize its own product).
All that is left for me to do is to flash the graphics card BIOS, but I read that all it does is change both the frequency settings to 400.. is that right? or is there more to it? I am also unsure which patch to use. I've seen someone link a BFG6800 bios to someone with an NX6800 card, so I am unwilling to do anything unless I get more confirmation. I'm not even sure a bios update is the key to the problem. I also read something about fastwrite? but I can't find it in the bios, or know where to find it.
I haven't seen MSI offer any bios patches.. is this correct?
I would appreciate any advice that you could give. Or if you know of any fixes that have been found for this.

I am in much the same position as you, I have tried all the simple stuff. Changed to the newest nvidia drivers, upgraded the motherboard bios, unplugged ever extraneous device just in case it's power related, jggered about with the clock setting. I have even contemplated upgrading my processor. I have a suspiscion that this is either just a stinky card or it's a general fundemental conflict. My graphics under windows are relatively fine, but as soon as I try and do something really graphics intensive, my sound system pops and crackles and relatively rapidly the graphics stall and then fail with a stop thread error. The only thing I will say for it is that it's reproducible. I am hoping that it is fixed by a simple bios flash and I have sent an email to Tech support and am twiddling my thumbs waiting for a reply. If I get anything usefull I will tell you.

  • Anyone else get a NX6800 TD128 with GDDR3?

I did.  When I got it back from Rma, I didnt notice the box, i paid more attention to puttin it back in my system so I could be playin again. Last night I noticed it said "128mb DDR3" on the box. So today, I found a program to determine specifications and sure enough, I've got GDDR3 memory.  I guess that explains why I can get it up to 350/950. Just curious, did anyone else get GDDR3 on there 6800nu?

that´s the gift from MSI,everyone who have problem with this card, just send it to RMA headquarters and they give you DDR3.but also you can´t say everyone you get it.it´s secret.they wanna you as a potencial customer again and that is the reason.but as i now you must pay a shipment to them, but it´s still less money than the 6800 GT or ULTRA costs, and with DDR3 you can have it from this card.......very good.....i wanna problemous 6800non-u

  • MSI RX9250-TD128 Problem: Jumbled video at top of monitor after windows starts

I'm trying to intsall my new MSI radeon 9250 128MB video card in my year 2000 vintage Dell dimension 750 series desktop.
I've tried installing all of the drivers provided on the driver cd and I keep getting the problem of a jumbled bar of video displayed at the very top of my monitor once Windows starts up i.e. once display would go to 1600X1400 or whatever.
I am able to boot up in safe mode.
    About my computer:
    Windows 2000 professional
    750 MHz pentium iii processor
    340 mb ram
an AGP slot that fits the card (im not sure what type, anyone know how i can check if it is 2x 4x 8x?, i don't think this is the problem though because it is supposed to be compatible with 4x)
note: when i open up the device manager and go under display adapters, radeon 9200 series..  the "general" tab says that there is no driver installed.  However, when I look under the driver tab, it lists the driver that is installed and the various driver files that are installed.
another note:  in the device manager there are two display adapters, "radeon 9250" and "radeon 9250 (secondary)" i tried turning the secondary off and it didn't solve the problem
Also, is there an MSI technical support email that works?  I've tried emailing [email protected] from two different email accounts and I'm getting it returned.
    Thank you

  • 5900-TD128 problem

    Hi everyone..
After some assistance with a problem that my FX5900 is causing with WinXP.
It will intermittently turn itself off causing the monitor to go blank and the monitor power light to flash.
Sometimes it will recover though often XP will be locked or the screen will be in low res mode.
I’ve tried various Nvidia drivers (currently 53.03) but nothing seems to be rectifying the problem.
Any ideas on how I can fix this very annoying problem?

Here is the conflicts/Sharing window from the System Information application.
The only IRQs that the video card is sharing is the USB controller.  The sound card is on IRQ 17.
Could the sharing with the USB controller be causing the problem?

  • 5200 TD128 problem with installation of driver

    Hello
I brought a MSI FX5200 TD 128 to replace my old graphic card few months back. My FX5200 been working fine till yesterday when it suddenly wont boot up... Colours on the screen turn mad when entering window 2k. I thought its something wrong with my OS, so i formated the harddisk and install winXP this morning....
During installation, winXP uses some default drivers to boot. When i tried updating the drivers( from cd, from msi download, from nvidia website) my monitor screen turns black(hang) when entering window.
Can anyone help me please. I am working at home. I need my graphic card up and running.
    Thanks

enter in vga mode in win xp by pressing f8 on its boot process. go to video settings and decrease the refresh rate for 60hz. go to http://www.nvidia.com and install the latest driver for your vga card.
