Nx8500gt mtd256eh spdif connection
Hi,
I installed my card today HDMI looks good!!
The problem is with the audio.
I have an Asus M2NPV-VM mobo, it has three pins on the SPDIF socket (+5v, SPDIF_OUT and GRN).
I Connected the red lead to SPDIF_OUT and the black to GRN but didn't get any sound.
Am I connecting the leads properly?
Hope you can help.
I have also tried reversing the two leads; the red is now on GRN and the black lead is on SPDIF_OUT, but still no joy.
I don't want to experiment with the +5v as it will most likely damage my Graphic Card/Mobo.
I have the sound routed through my HiFi at the moment so I'll persevere with that for now.
Is there anything in the BIOS to enable, the isn't any extra playback devices in the Sound Properties Applet.
Any clues would be appreciated.

Hello all!
I am going to buy NX8500GT-MTD256EH graphic card and P35 Neo mobo.
What should I do to have both voice and picture via graphic card HDMI-connector?
I think that I know what to do with software, but with hardware?
Obviously I have to connect mobo SPDIF-out to graphic card SDPIF-connector, but what kind of cable I need and from where I can get it?
Ps. I apologize my bad English, Greetings from FinlandThe cable should have come with your card! They usually supply two cable options, onw that can go from a digital RCA connector out to the vga card and one that can go from them mainboard spdif pins to the vga card.

Low Profile Bracket for NX8500GT-MTD256EH
Hey guys, I have one of these:
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1231&maincat_no=130&cat2_no=136
And I need to buy the low-profile vga bracket so it'll fit in my slim-PC. I've tried contacting them via email, contact submission, calling several times, but never gotten a response. Any easier way to get one of these? Maybe a vendor? Thanks! If you would have done a search on Google you would have seen that the #1 complaint is that it doesn't come with a Low Profile Bracket... example:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16814127301
A site that sells the card WITH the low profile bracket...
http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/PCI-E/nVIDIA+GeForce+8+Series/MSI+GeForce+8500GT+256MB+HDMI+Low-Profile+Silent+PCI-E+?productId=30971
A site that says you can buy the bracket from MSI (but the # doesn't work anymore...)
http://www.pricespider.com/product-reviews/997462/MSI-NX8500GT-MTD256EH-GeForce-8500GT-HDMI-HDCP-Silent-Heatsink-Video-Card-Review-NX8500GT-MTD256EH.html
I knew of all these things already, but was hoping that the Forum had a good way of contacting MSI (because all the methods I've tried in Post #1 didn't work) -
spdif connection to 3 pin header (KM2M)
I can't find a back plane fitting for this. The manual shows a connection for two of the three pins only (VCC & SPDIF (pin 3 nc)). I want to assume that one of the connections is a ground as I can make a back panel connector with a grounded RCA jack but I can't find a specification anywhere. Does anybody know the actual specification?Nothing to do with overclocking or modding.
The S-bracket comes with my 875 Neo-Fis2R mobo as standard. What I want to know is whether there should be any 'red' light at the end of the optical cable when the optical cable is plugged into the S-bracket (and of course the S-bracket is connected to the mobo). I remembered that it should be this way but currently, there is no 'red' light for my case and even though I had managed to get a replacement S-bracket, still same problem. I had tried with another optical cable which was confirmed good (from my Hifi amplifier) but also no 'red' light when plugged into the S-bracket. -
NX8500GT-MTD256EH and /D2 difference?
Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the NX8500GT-MTD256EH (which I own) and /D2 version which is now on the MSI web site?
Thanks
PattoQuote from: patto on 14-September-07, 15:06:31
Thanks for the reply but I was asking about the two different versions of the 8500GT-MTD256EH cards. I have purchased a 8500GT-MTD256EH about a month ago, but I see now the model number has changed to 8500GT-MTD256EH/D2 and the previous version is not listed anywhere.
Thanks
Patto
PS: Mainboard is ASUS P5K-VM (G33 chip), with a E6550 in a HTPC
Probably is the same then.. just with changed name, there is no other model 8500GT-MTD256EH
Here is confirmation as well:
NX8500GT-MTD256EH:
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=NX8500GT-MTD256EH&class=vga)
NX8500GT-MTD256EH/D2:
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1231&maincat_no=130&cat2_no=136
Its the same VGA... -
Connecting The SBS 580 5.1 System to My SPDIF connection
Just got this new soundsystem for my laptop but i have a problem, my laptop unly has the SPDIF audio out connection and my sound system has 3 different connectors. (Orange-Sub, Black-Rear, Lime-Front)?So i need to convert these three connectors into my SPDIF.Can i get a connector to convert these ?Do i have to get a reviever with all these hookups ?If so, what shuld i get ?Thanks AlotBiles
Hi Biles, Firstly Have you got a free usb port? If so get yourself a "Creative Sound Blaster Live 24bit". Your minimum system requirements need to be....intel PIII or Celeron class 800MHz or faster processor, MicroSoft Windows xp(sp) or 2000(sp4),128mb ram, 340mb hard Disk space, Available USB. port, CD/DVDrom drive required for software installation ,ok so far , this may or maynot cure your problem,but....... I just bought the same system my self finding only half of my speakers were working. Istarted checking on the cheapest remidy "External soundcard" plugs in play you get a cd installation disk for all other needs (sound adjustments, speaker setups ect) but again hope this helps.

Audigy 2 ZS spdif connected to reciever only gives bad and lousy sound
I have connected my Audigy 2 ZS to my Pioneer home surround reciever.
I have used a 3.5mm pin to connect a RCA cable to my spdif out on my card and connected this to my coax digital input on my pioneer.
I have the latest driver
But the sound in my home stereo is only bad, lousy and tubelike.
No extre effects do I use, and everything else (DVD, Pocorn hour and CD player) connected to my pioneer sounds crystal clear and really good, but not the music from my computer. (Tried differend kind of mediaplayers)
So, my question is why is it so? Should I get perfect stereosound from this setup in my home stereo?
Have I done something wrong setting this up?
Very greatful for any help because I have reached the end of the road here...just use jack->coax cabel but it will be only stereo PCM

Ok everyone, i think i'm going crazy... i've been building pc's for years and this is a first for me
so has anyone here had success using the hmdi connection to send audio to a tv?
i connected the spdif cable from mobo to the 295gtx and set spdif as the primary audio in windows (home premium 64-bit)
i always thought dvi couldn't carry audio, so even with the dvi to hdmi converter, maybe it just isnt possible?
thanks for any help!!!yeah... it's the onboard audio with a spdif in/out built in to the board

OK, so i have the minijack to rca adapter in place, i have all connections connected how they should be, i have the eax set to digital out, but its not sending any signal, AND its still sending to my analog out(aka my headphones). its not sending anything to my reci'ver.
ok, thing is, tech support(contacted earlier) told me "Typically you should be using a Minijack to Coaxial cable" so thats what i have. its a cable similar to a video cable, its what i used on my previous nforce 2 soundcard and i got 5. on that. BUT now i have an athlon 64 with a via chipset and it doesnt do 5.DD on the fly. so i looked for a sound card that could do it with a rca jack.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E68290278 . thats the site, yes it says spdif out, and thats what i used on my nforce 2 as well. BUT the thing is, is that this required a adapter that i had to get. now its hooked up but its not putting out anything to the digital. even after i set it to digital, reset and play music, it still sends it to the analog out. to my headphones in other words. that is what i dont understand, why its still sending to headphones even though its set to send to my reci'ver.

[nForce] K7N2GM2-LSR SPDIF CONNECTIONS
Hi all.
On my K7N board it has a three pin connection for SPDIF out. But I've been given a bracket that has the 11 pin connection.
Does anyone have anything that tells me what each wire is on the 11 pin connection? The 3 pins on mb are VCCS, SPDIF0 and GND.
hope this makes sense:-)

Hello, I have the K7N2GM2-ILSR MB and bought a 3-pin bracket with coax and optial from census pcs, but I can only get the coax working, the optical seems to produce "no signal" on my amp. I have checked the connector and the light is coming from it but no sound is being sent.
Also the coax is producing weird sounds like popping and crackling is this due to a faulty cable or is it the H/W at fault?
The drivers that I am using are 5.10.0.5760 and I have also tried 5.10.0.5790 from realtek with no joy. This is really annoying as I can't understand why coax would work and optical doesn't, I have also tried putting the optical through my mini disk player to see it it isn't my amp but this still displays "no signal" am I missing something?
Plz Help
Yes, unfortunately you are missing something. You have not read the rules on hijacking someone elses post. Please start your own post on this matter and I'm sure you will get more responses.

SPDIF connection with GTX 275 Thinkstation S20
The SPDIF connector from GTX 275 graphics card needs to be connected to ground pins in Mother board of S20.
Where are the ground pins in S20 motherboard located?
Thanks.
Solved!
Go to Solution.the S20 doesn't have an S/PDIF header on the motherboard. you'll either have to use one of the existing external S/PDIF sockets (digital RCA and optical TOSLINK) on the back of the system for audio output or purchase a sound card with internal S/PDIF output.

I was encoding a VCD with Dr. Divx when my sound just turned off. I have connected my reciever to the IDE front port of the platinum card. I have tried restarting and doing a recovery to see if somehow my driver got changed, but nothing. There is a signal being sent because I hear sound via my headphone out jack on the front panel. Any advice please?
. Audigy 2 ZS Platinum
2. Front Panel Headphones and the card's analog front-Left and right via headphones.
3. I have wave, midi synth, CD-Audio, line-in, aux and line-in 2/mic-2
4. There is a red light when I boot up, so power is going through, but once in windows there is no rd light.
5. I am not sure what you mean by this, but the device manager says that the Creative SB Audigy 2 ZS is working properly -
