NXGT6600GT dead... or just sleeping.

My GT6600GT was working great. It was quiet... a little too quiet. The computer was on overnight and this morning nothing was on the screen. I opened up the comp and there was the fan, dangling about 2 inches below the card. I waited for the card to cool down for about 15 minutes and hopped that the video card would still work so I could just replace the heat sink. It didn't work.
I know this card is probably destroyed. Is there hope? Does the card just shut down if the fan is not spinning? Also I didn't see anything about a warranty in all my MSI info. I bought the card 03/05 so I assume it's way over. Any hope?

Edit: I see that it has not been two years since purchase. I will try to use the warranty through newegg. Still any advice would be appreciated. Will this be covered?

Depends on temp sensor built in or not. Geforce6 gpus usually have a temp sensor built in which is read out through the driver. If the gpu gets too hot (geforce 6 about 120'C) the core will be slowed down by the driver. This should have avoided damage if your 6600GT has a temp sensor activated. Unfortunately many manufacturers disabled the 6600GT's temp sensor. Don't know if MSI also did that.
There were also some passive cooled 6600GT available, so I suppose the heatsink should have done the job. Did it run in 3d overnight? If not I doubt it's dead or the fan failure wasn't the only problem.
Warranty should be no problem fan failure is msi's fault. Problem is: You replaced the heatsink -> warranty is void! Better don't tell newegg or MSI!

Hi,
I have a number of air-lap1142n-e-k9 access points, so far they have all been deployed successfully aprt from this one unit.
When I deployed it, it joined the wlc as normal, downloaded the image, and I was able to rename it etc.. but then a couple of min's later it's status changed to down. It's details on the wlc had changed to name: blank, mac address 0000.0000.0000

Does it still charge if you use the wal adapter? If yes, let it charge for about 15min, then connect in recovery mode to your computer, explained here: iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore

Here is what happens, and I've tried out several Apple chargers.
Unplugged, the battery charge icon shows only a tiny red bar for a charge, but it will come on.
The battery icon then displays a charging "lightening bolt" symbol showing charging when connected to any charger. But after a minute or two, the battery icon then changes to a "plugged in" symbol and the phone will no longer take a charge. I can recycle through this same sequence by unplugging and plugging back in the phone to a charger, but after a minute or two, that's it.

I'm used to a separate display attached to a tower. I work as a photographer and I like to keep my monitor display on when I'm working so it is warmed up, but I want to turn off the display only when I'm not working.
I would like to keep the computer running since other computers on my network need to access it for files and backup, but I would like to just sleep the display.
There is a 3rd party widget named Display Sleep, but it doesn't seem to work with 10.6.
Any suggestions in how to sleep the display easily?

As a user-to-user community, no one here can answer your question with any level of authority whatsoever. BlackBerry provides zero front line support to end users, including warranty...all support starts with the carriers, authorized resellers, and authorized service centers, all who can escalate cases into BlackBerry at no charge to the end user.
So, your escalation path is not here, in these forums. Rather, it is through your service center and/or place of purchase...even if they may have so far been unhelpful. You have no free path by which to bypass them, and should be escalating to their management levels.
There is something called incident support, but it costs to just ask the initial question, since you are bypassing the contract you signed upon purchase. If you wish to investigate that, you can review it here:

Dead Shuffle, just came to life then died again.

Hi all. My shuffle just died after 3 days, left it for 2 weeks then plugged it in, it came to life enough to register it "Again" then went blank again.What is it i can do or should i just return it to apple.Please help kind friends.

I just called Apple. They are sending me a new one. He said its a "software issue" when I read him my serial #. wow.
THAT's interesting. Would you share with us the serial number so that others might be able to address this issue with Apple support? I'm a bit skeptical about it being an unaddressed "software" issue, especially since it would seem cheaper to be fixed with a firmware update than incurring the costs of replacing affected shuffles...
coincidentally I went to walmart this morning and asked him if they knew of any issues. he said, the shuffle is nothing but problems but the nano is very solid. thats a total bummer as I really like the shuffle for my purposes (elite triathlete) and training.

MacMini Shuts Down Instead of Just Sleeping

Other posts have mentioned this issue, but none of the suggestions solved my problem.
The monitor is set to sleep after 15 minutes and the hard drive is set to sleep after half an hour. At first, my MacMini just shut down after a varying period of sleep, despite having no shutdown options selected in System Preferences. Over the last 6-9 months, I've pulled the power cord so many times I can't even count them to reset the power management unit. No joy. Now, after applying the 10.8.5 combo updater and supplemental, the machine won't startup again unless you pull the power cord. The only difference that I can see between my setup and that of the others that have posted on this issue is that I am using Filevault.
Elsewhere on Apple's website, I read that the reason the machine shuts down is related to a EU requirement for energy saving that was introduced within the last year or so. I could live with the machine shutting down when it's not being used, but having to pull the power cord every time I want to startup is really annoying, and I'm concerned that I have a hardware problem that should be addressed while this machine is still under warranty. Any ideas?

Your description doesn't seem to fit. If that's correct, and if you've already reset the SMC, then see below.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Dead Lombard 400 - Sleep LED Lights

I have a dead Lombard 400 that I am trying to revive for a friend to use as an email machine.
When I connect the power adapter the sleep LED lights and stays on but the machine will not boot. Pressing the reset button causes the LED to go out; when the reset button is released (after 5 secs or 30 secs) the sleep LED blinks once and then goes dark. The machine will still not boot. I've tried this with both with and without a fully charge battery in the bay with the same result.
The same behavior occurs if I try to boot with a fully charged battery and no power adapter - sleep LED llghts, blinks once after a reset but the Lombard will not boot.
Some of the other things I've done:
- Checked the internal rechargeable battery. It's currently showing 3.6 volts. Since this machine hasn't been used/charged in 2-3 years and it's main battery was dead, I wonder if it has been recharged by the power adapter or the fully charged main battery I installed. I've tried all the above tests with this battery disconnected.
- Discharged the battery from my good Lombard 333 to 50% and installed it in the Lombard 400. Plugged it into a known good charger and left it on charge overnight. When I reinstalled the battery in the Lombard 333 it was still at 50%.
- Dis-connected the keyboard and tried all the above booting scenarios - still nothing.
- Swapped out the processor board with the one in my good Lombard 333. Still will not boot. 400 MHz processor boots perfectly in my 333 machine.
- Disassembled the machine and inspected the Power/Sound card and Power Supply card. No visible problems on either and the charger connector on the Power/Sound card has no wobble at all and the solder joint looks solid.
Before I start the tedious process of swapping parts between the good and bad Lombards to determine which part failed, does anyone have any other suggestions?

...the internal backup battery is charged by the power adapter. I would guess charging a main battery involves different circuitry.
Since you have tried all the basics, and according to Apple, it could be the sound/power card or the power supply card or the microprocessor card or the I/O logic board. You have already eliminated the microprocessor card. Apple says if the battery will not charge, it is either the power supply card or the I/O logic board. If I were going to take a shot at which card to test first, the power supply card seems a good candidate.

My Mac Air II is dead. Just fans and no boot. Am I in trouble?

The MacBook was sleeping, I took it out of my bag and the fans were running. Since then nothing is working. It won't turn on, none of the reboot combinations is working, but the fans just keep running. Battery is full, it's plugged into the proper power socket, no recent updates have been made, and nothing sinister has recently happened. I'd really appreciate it if someone knows the source of the problem and any potential solutions.....

I don't know of anything grayscale.
Perhaps you could tell us WHY cmy would throw an error in your profile? Is there a reason you don't want those plates?
I don't know why cmy puts an error in the profile. I got a cmyk template and I'm rushing trying to create a workbook go to with a DVD curriculum that I'm way past the deadline on.

If I delete the inbox (as advised by Norton for security reasons), can I recreate it or is my email dead? Just the inbox, not the contents.

If I do so, how can I restore the inbox folder.

Yes on the setup-page for your emailaccount go to prenumerations and you probably have a box near INBOX that needs to be marked.
But depending how you get your email, if they are downloaded or if they are copied into your pc, you might get all your old emails back, INCLUDING your virus-email. This virus is most likely in an attachment so it woudn't infect your pc UNLESS you open it. Schred that file and never open any attachment by default

Dead or just asleep?

well i look and looked and worked for about 3 hours on my friends ipod. the thing is that she lost it in her backpack about 6 months ago and it got wedged inbetween some fabric. so it has had its fair share of rough days and is fairly beaten up. so i plug it into my computer and it has the file with an exclamation mark on the screen. i connect to itunes and try to restore the ipod but it says
"there was a problem downloading the ipod software for the ipod 'ipod'. the requested resource was not found.?
so i tried diconnecting and plugging it back in but to no avail... so is the mini dead for good, needs a new battery, somethings wrong with Apple's stuff, or is the onyl thign i can do send it in?

hmmm, perhaps forcing it into disk mode first then connecting it might allow you to restore it?
