NXT Mindstorm Display Malfunction

I am running a class using the NXT Toolkit in LabVIEW. We used these same units last year in the same course. This year six of the Mindstorms work, but the display does not work. I've tried changing batteries to see if there is a voltage problem, but aside from that I do not have any ideas.
Suggestions?

To summarize: if you're brave and have the right tools and knowledge, resoldering some capacitors will likely fix your problem. If not, calling the LEGO Education customer support line is also a good option.

• Lion 10.7.2 Display Malfunction

I am a new Mac User and am getting extremely frustrated with the workaround I had to do in order to show a display on my Sony Tv. Luckily being an engineer I was able to figure out how to get it working in two hours... but it is only a temporary fix, as soon as I unplug it it wont work again.
When I first plugged my Macbook Pro (Lion 10.7.2) into my 40" Sony TV (KDL-40SL150) via VGA it wouldn't connect for some reason. I know it wasnt the VGA cable, as I had directly unplugged it from my desktop. I also know ti wasnt my Mini DisplayPort to VGA as I tested it on a Samsung SyncMaster 204BW and it worked immediately. After banging my head against the wall I found that if I mirrored the display, unplugged it from the monitor into my tv, and selected the correct resolution 1280x960 @60Hz that it would show up on my Sony TV. But every time I clicked the box to turn off Mirroring it stopped functioning. I found that I had to show displays in the menu bar and then after I unclicked Mirror Displays I could go up to the monitor and return the resolution to 1280x960.
This FINALLY got it to work. Unfortunately every time I reset my computer I would have to redo this nonsensical process.
Also the strange thing is I went to the Hardware Settings for the Display and it showed the following:
Intel HD Graphics 3000:
Chipset Model: Intel HD Graphics 3000
Type: GPU
Bus: Built-In
VRAM (Total): 384 MB
Vendor: Intel (0x8086)
Device ID: 0x0126
Revision ID: 0x0009
Displays:
Color LCD:
Resolution: 1280 x 800
Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off <----- IT IS MIRRIRORD
Online: Yes
Built-In: Yes
Display Connector:
Why is there nothing for the display connector?
I looked in the Thunderbolt section and it says no device is connected... this is nonsense!
Port:
Status: No devices connected
Link Status: 7
Port Micro Firmware Version: 2.1.1
Please give me a work around for this. How can I manually set resolution to 1080? How can I save the monitor configuration so I dont have to do this every time?
The only reason this works is because it thinks my TV is my SyncMaster monitor! Ridiculous!!! Is this some plot to get us to by Thunderbolt Displays???

Restart the computer, when you hear the startup tone hold down the Option key and choose the Recovery Partition. Open Disk Utility and run Repair Disk Permissions at least 2x. After you have finished exit Disk Utility and restart the computer in Safe Mode, after it has fully booted restart the computer normally and test.

• Powerbook's display malfunctioned

About a week ago, the display on my 12" Powerbook (1.33GHz edition) suddenly stopped working. I honestly looked down at my shoe, and back up at the computer and instead of my desktop, I saw a whole bunch of dark lines, sort of like if one pixel's length of screen was stretched over the entire thing. If my mouse moved, I could kind of follow the cursor on screen, as the pixel lines would darken and lighten depending on where the cursor was, but I couldn't make out any shapes at all. Shutting down, resetting the PRAM and other fixes didn't work. The funny thing is, I can use my computer with an external display and the lid closed, as I am currently doing, but the minute I unplug it from my monitor, the lines show up again. Also, under "More Info" my Powerbook recognizes that I have an external display attached, but doesn't even see that I have an internal display connected. Help! Is anyone else seeing things like this, and if so, is there a solution? Thanks!
Powerbook G4 12" Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Just guessing... maybe the internal connector between the display and the logic board (graphic card) broke or is loose. Personally I wouldn't think that it is a more serious issue (since you can use the external display quite fine), but better to have a technician look at it for saying something definitive.

• J6480 LCD Control Panel Display Malfunction

My All-In-One J6480 Officejet is on its last legs. In 2010, I added a Win 7 based laptop to my wireless home network shared with a Vista based 32 bit OS. That created some lasting conflicts that still result in not being able to scan from the Win 7 laptop. I can live with that, but recently the control panel display began to fade out across horizontal bar areas. Now, the panel is almost completely barren of all display characters. Messages, options, etc. are all invisible. If anyone has been able to correct a similar situation, please help.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand that the panel is almost completely barren of all display characters, on your HP Officejet J6480. I am happy to help! Please take a look through this guide, The HP Printer Won't Turn On or Respond When the Power Button is Pressed, that deals with power related issues. Hope this guide helps!

• Display malfunction at Satellite L300

Hi All out there in computer land.
I've had a L300 for some time now and its been a great machine, however the other day I swiched it on and there are now lines across the display at various points. Some of the lines don't start at an edge and don't finish at an edge. It looks like its 'bleeding' at different points.
It looks like the display is faulty. I must stress that my laptop does not move from its place of use (on a table) and the display is left open and nobody could have come into contact with it. _ I know it has not been damaged._
I have displayed just a white screen (disconnected video cable) and the problem is still there.
Thanks for your help in anticipation.

Hello Fred
My advice to this issue is simple: contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and let them check your notebook. It must be new notebook with valid warranty.
So don't waste your time and let them repair your notebook.

• Display malfunction - iphone 4

So in a normal day i was using my iphone 4 then it went black because of the battery. when i get it to recharge, it doesn't turn on the display, the apple logo doesnt appear when i turn it on and when the display goes on, the only thing that shows on the screen is a black screen with a white circle of light, but besides that, everything is functional, the voice comand, the music, the voice calls, i could even get a print of the screen to maybe understand what happend but it seems like the iphone is kinda desoriented(adrift or something like that, sorry for my bad english ) on the image, the format of the image is not in the format of a iphone screen print

Is the zoom function enabled? Try to double tap with three fingers to reduce the size again.
Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Appel logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting.
The next step after that would be setting it back to factory settings:

• Macbook display malfunction

Hello
Late last week while merely surfing the web, I noticed some flickers on my macbook display. I had never seen those before. I've read about flickers on discussions here. Then over the weekend, I would start the computer only to have the display not light up instantly.
The machine is on, and you'd have to hold the MB certain, slight ways (against a light) to see that it is operating. Sitting the MB certain ways would enable the display to actually light up to its normal brightness.
But Monday the display would not light up at all. Again, the MB is operational, the battery is fully charged. But the display is nearly pitch black. Only squinting at it can you see any tiny, grainy vision of the desktop screen. I've tried, out of curiosity, things like extracting and replacing the battery, but to no avail. Might anyone here have any clue as to what's going on? I expect at the least to take it to an apple store/genius bar later this week. Any help/insight would be appreciated.

• Mini Display malfunctioning Macbook Air 2012

I can only get my mini display port to work if I put in the adapter and then angle the computer so that pressure is put on the adapter/port. I can accomplish this by closing the computer and flipping it upside down or twisting the cable, etc. I have never heard of anything like this happening and I cannot find anything online that addresses the issue. Has anyone else seen this happen? I really don't want to get the port replaced because it will likely cost close to the amount of just getting a new computer. If that is the case - I will be going with a PC. I paid almost $2000 for this Mac and I really expected the ports to be bulletproof. Needless to say - I think Apple should fix this on their dime and they should also stop using ports that literally NOBODY else is using. Just put a dang HDMI port on it and call it a day.

You might be better off checking elsewhere - perhaps over at ifixit.com? That particular site specializes in repairs of Apple devices, and it's possible you'll get a better answer.
I took a quick peak over at their site and grabbed a link for one of their tear-down guides (it may not match yours exactly, though, so if you want to crack yours open, make sure you get the right link!). I grabbed the link for the mid-2012 13" Air. It looks like it would be fairly simple to take off the bottom case and examine the port to see if it's loose on the logicboard, at least! You'd probably have to get a set of tools from ifixit - Apple has taken to using propietary screws to hold their computers together.

Hopefully that helps you a little!

• Ipad display malfunction? - pictures attached

Please help me with this problem. My ipad suddenly started flashing like it has static. I cant read anything. This is what it looks like...

You should probably back it up and make an appointment with the Genius Bar at a nearby Apple store to have it looked at. If you can't see the display you can still back it up by connecting it to your computer, opening iTunes, clicking on the name of your iPad in iTunes, going to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and clicking on Back Up Now under Manually Back Up & Restore.

• E71 - serious display malfunction

My brand new E71 seems to have a rather serious display problem.
I've only had it for 2 weeks.
It looks like this now. The image is all jumbled up and the screen keeps flickering and the colours are completely faded.
Click link to: My dead E71
Looks like a software error, or worse, a problem with the graphics processor.
Luckily I am getting a replacement free of charge.
Anyone knows if this is a common problem? If so, I am going to get my phone provider to change it to a different handset altogether.

I've never seen this before on an E51. In Europe, if it is faulty within 30 days you should be able to exchange it with the retailer - the 14 day rule in some countries is normally just if you decide you don't like the phone.

• A1311 Display malfunction

I have an iMac, A1311, updated to Mavericks, (http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-lookup/?search_keywords=A1311) with what seems to be a broken display. I've researched and attempted to find a firmware restoration utility from which I can boot, but Apple seems to have quit producing them with the advent of Hardware Test and now Diagnostics.
Here's what I know: The background processes seem to be working fine. The volume goes up and down audibly, and the caps lock key lights up. When I boot, I get the nice aural chime. I've booted into Diagnostic mode (held D at startup), I've reset the PRAM (cmd, opt, P+R), and booted into safety mode (Shift), all to no effect. I wasn't really expecting one.
So here is the question which I can't seem to find an answer to: How can I run diagnostics from another computer? Is there a way I can remote into my iMac from my laptop (also a mac) to view the desktop?

By the way, I don't think it's clear from my post above that I had been able to successfully calibrate my main monitor in OS 10.5.7, prior to the system update to 10.5.8.
Thanks again for any insights or suggestions.

• Screen display malfunct

I bought a Zen Micro 5GB for my daughter 3 days ago. it's loaded with music and she loves it. she handed it to me tonight when the screen went blank on her. the screen fully illuminates, the battery charges, the firmware upgrades and it plays music but there is no display. It appears as if the contrast setting has somehow been turned off. I can't even go to rescue mode because if it's working i can't use the display. is there any way to reset this thing or has anyone seen this issue. otherwise it's back to store for this device...

There are some stepsyou can take, but this may be a hardware issue. You can try and access Rescue Mode. Remove the battery from the player while it's off. While replacing it switch and hold the power switch over. You will boot into Rescue Mode (if you're not able to see the display in Rescue Mode then I'd suggest not tempting fate) If you're able to see the options select Disk CLean Up. This will reset the player and should restore everything to factory settings.
Hopefully this will be able to help, but it does sounds like the LCD is physically not connected any more. I've heard a few other cases like that here. You're probably going to just have to call Creative Support or the shop you bought it from and get the player repaired/replaced

• Power Button on 23" Cinema Display Malfunction

Not sure what's causing this but recently (on occaision) when I hit the power button (which is set to "turns the display on and off") and power off the display it comes back on by itself after a few moments with the "Device Removal" error message.
Any thoughts here?? I searched help and this forum with no results so I must be doing something really stupid. Hopefully you can help me out so I don't have to bug tech support...
Thanks, J (yank)

I don't think that's true. I have everything plugged in through the back of it (cd/dvd drive, external harddrives, flash card reader w/ flash card, ipod, you name it.) However I can turn off the display using the power button right now without any error message or problem and I've been able to do so since I bought it over a year ago.
The problem is erratic, mainly coming up at night for some reason. I even tried ejecting all removable drives etc. when this was happening and that didn't help. The only thing to do now when this problem comes up seems to be disconnecting it from the macbookpro...
Any other ideas?

• Flame's display malfunctioning

Unfortunate thing happened today. I was using my Flame when suddenly these white lines appeared. Just like that, out of nowhere. It did not fell even once. The lowest temperature it experienced was a week or two ago, -5°C.
These lines blink at high frequency and.. well.. the phone is not really usable anymore.
Any advice what should I do? Bought it from everbuying in early September.

Finally I have received a response from flameservice team. They suggested I should send the flame to the China :( So I suppose I have no other choice.
