  • I am looking for a good photo editing software, only editing, not sharing etc

any recommendation for a good photo editing software for starters, only to enhance picture, play arounf with colours in black and white background etc.

In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

  • What is a good video editing software I can use on my MacBook Pro?

What is a good video editing software I can use on my MacBook Pro?
*also, It would be great if I could edit multi-channel audio on the software
    Any suggestions?

probably THE best software is Avid Media Composer. It's an industry standard for Feature Films, Television programs and commercials.
Professional editors and producers around the world have told them what the software needs to succeed.
-More efficient and easy-to-use video editing tools. An open platform that enables you to work with everything you want and integrate into any workflow. More power to eliminate bottlenecks, so you can work faster than ever.
-Create 5.1 and 7.1 surround mixes directly within Media Composer, or import from Pro Tools (watch the video)
I own this NLE and it truly is the best out of all of the editing programs I've used.
** It's quite expensive though. But worth it if you want the best!
    ~$2,499.00
Another option would be Final Cut Pro. The little brother of Avid MC. I have Final Cut Pro X and I am very disappointed with it. It’s not an update of the existing Final Cut, which is one of the most popular programs; it’s completely new and radically redesigned. It looks different, its strengths are different — "and after one day of using it, many professional video editors are running through the streets with pitchforks."
Final Cut Pro X Review - NY Times
** It's a good starting program if you just doing editing that isn't quite as demanding as feature films, TV programs and commercials. Many editors have been moving away from FCP after the release of the current version. However, It is a lot less expensive than Avid MC
    ~$299.99
Personally, having both Media Composer and Final Cut Pro X, I would go for Media Composer if it's in your budget. Definitely worth the price!

  • Looking for a good Video intro generator. Any recommendation ?

    Hi there,
I am looking for some impressive video intro generator & bump into this:
    http://www.reallusion.com/contentstore/cstore_vshowcase.aspx?id=525&CategoryName =iClone
I bought the iClone4 plus the Motion Montage because I like the part where it will generate the impressive video intro sequence automatically & all I need to do was to drag my pictures & videos into it.
But, when I used it, this software turns out to be very complicated. When I drag a picture into it, it turns dark immediately !! My guess is that I have to adjust the lighting & a whole series of buttons to get the effect. So, this is too cumbersome & too time consuming for me.
I need one that can generate an impressive video intro & all I have to do is to select my pictures & video files.
Any recommendation from experts here ?
    Thanks

I'd never seen any program that could make something like that so easily until I clicked your link! Generally to do that kind of work you need a working knowledge of programs that support editing/modeling in 3D space.
If nobody else can name another product, you might try the "Contact Us" part of their website:
    http://www.reallusion.com/aboutus.asp#contact
Yes, I have tried that, all they did was ask me to see their tutorial & manual & forum. But their forum are mostly on iClone4 and not Motion Montage.
Also, it is too time consuming to learn the iClone4. I bought it because I thought I can produce the impressive video intro by just dragging in my video files & picture files.
It work to a certain extend but the problem is that the very minute I drag my files into it, it becomes very dark & resolution quality drop to a very bad level, unlike what I see on the sales video.
I hope others can recommend me another product.
    Thanks

  • Am looking for a good video player for IOS 4.1

Hello all. Have an IPhone 3GS for which I am looking for a good (free) video player? Any recommendations?

There certainly is... a video player has been included with every version of iOS.
In iOS4 all media is accessed via the iPod app.  iOS5 and later seperates audio and video into two apps, "Music" and "Video".

  • Any suggestions on a good video editing software for MacBook Pro

I have just joined the MacBook Pro community would like an idea for good video software options

Also, compare the hardware specification (not just minimums) needed to actually
use the video editing software; plus consider external storage options of huge
capacity since most portable computers don't really have all that much storage.
A few years ago some suggested Avid Media Composer as professional software
but then in the same discussion, said the MacBook Pro may not be able to handle
the demands of the application; and went on to suggest an Apple Mac Pro tower.
Some software needs require further study prior to committing resources & funds
to discover perhaps the product may/may not be adequate. Avid likely is still costly.
Hopefully you can get a great editor with a few creative options, for a decent price.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Good video editing software?

anyone have any preferred video editing software? why do you like it? mainly looking at openshot/kdenlive/pitivi.. but haven't done much video editing in the past so not sure which I should go with. any thoughts?

    Army wrote:
I made a video once and used openshot for it. Back then version 1.0 was the most up to date stable release. There was no undo function etc. But still, it worked quite well. But I think kdenlive is better, but it's a KDE application, so it's pretty fat on a wm only environment.
I'd say, you should give them all a try, it's a matter of taste and it depends on what you want to do. I'd recommend openshot.
As someone who currently has openshot 1.1.3 installed, I can confirm there is now an undo option.

  • Looking for a good photo editing app!

On an iPad, I want to be able to edit the background in a photo.  I am looking for an app that lets me select an area in a photo (say, the sky), select a color, and then the app will change the area to the new color.  I don't want to have to paint the area manually with my finger.  I want the app to be intelligent enough to determine the entire area of the sky and then change the entire sky to the new color.  I know I can do this with PhotoShop on a laptop, but are there iPad apps that can do this?

  • CANON XA10 10.6.8 Good Video Editing Software

Ok, here's another Canon XA10 user needing help.  Just bought the camera and will need to get video editor.  Any good suggestions as to which brand plus whatever necessary converter software also if needed?  Read a lot of the other posts from everywhere, but can't seem to sort it all out yet.
    Please help.  Thanks.

I just installed OuickTime 7 Pro in my Mac Pro Ver 10.6.8. The video I am trying to view is codec h264 Compression dvcpro 50 hd. I have audio but no video. It says I need other software with QuickTime for it to work. Dose anyone know what I need?
H.264 video should be supported by your basic Snow Leopard operating system. The DVCPRO HD family of codecs is part of the Apple "Pro" codecs package which is normally installed as part of a "Pro" video editing suite installer or contemporaneously installed separately as part of one of the newer pro editing apps like FCPX. if you already have one of these pro suites or apps installed or available, then re-install the correct codec package that is missing. If not, you will need to purchase a Pro suite or app to be able to install the required codec package.

  • Looking for Win-based sound-editing software to work with AAC files

    Hi, everyone.
I'm a part-time indoor-cycling instructor. I create iTunes playlists to fit a certain types of "rides," transfer the lists to my iPod, then hook the player to the club's stereo system. Very slick.
But not slick enough. There are some songs I don't want to play all the way through; I want to use only isolated segments of certain songs. And I want to employ crossfade. When cycling, it's important to keep the music coming; dead spots are energy killers. I want to stich in some stray bits of oddball audio, such as funny snippets of movie dialog and other nonsense, to keep the mood light. And I'm looking for a way to more precisely control track-to-track playback volume.
I know I can isolate a segment of a song file by using the "start time" and "stop time" adjustments on the "options" tab of a song file's "get info" settings within iTunes. But I want to do more than that. Sometimes I want to play :20 of a song at one part of the ride, and :40 of the same song later in the ride, and I don't want to have to make a renamed copy of the song file to make it happen.
I'm thinking what I need is sound-editing software. I want to create, say, a 60-minute playlist in iTunes, export copies (not the originals) of the songs in that playlist to the sound-editing platform, do my editing and create a single, 60-minute file that I can then load into iTunes and thus, transfer to my iPod. When I hook the 'pod up to the club's stereo, I would then play the single 60-minute "song" instead of the 60-minute playlist.
And of course, I want to do it really cheaply, on a PC running iTunes for Windows. How's that for a challenge?
If I had a Mac, I probably could use SoundStudio to do this, because it imports AAC files.
What I need is a Windows-based editing platform that can import AAC files. If you know of such an animal, I'd appreciate hearing about it.
If there is no such animal, here's what I think I'll have to do:
    1. Pluck song files from my iTunes music folder
    2. Create a CD containing mp3 copies of those songs
    3. Send those mp3 copies into the editing software
    4. Stitch the songs together in the editing software into a single file
    5. Export that file as a single mp3 file
    6. Have iTunes convert that mp3 file to mp4.
Right? Or wrong? If anyone has advice, I'm all ears.

The reason why I posted here was to hopefully find someone who has actually done this before rather than have someone throw packages at me that I can find on Google on my own.
There are a number of SMS gateways out there, but I have not used any of them. Setting up some of them is a very time consuming process and I was hoping to get a heads up on one that that some else had used in the Solaris 10 x86 environment within a zone.
I already have a working email version of this process which I put together very quickly, but using SMS would be a much better process for the techs out in the field.
I won't have the actual GSM Modem in hand until Monday or Tuesday and am doing some preliminary work so that I can hit the ground running when it shows up.
    Thanks for your suggestions though.

  • Is there ANY good video editing software for Linux??

I am at my wit's end. ALL I want to do is put picture-in-picture. Here's what I've run into:
Avidemux: Hardly actually does anything. Beyond trimming files, this thing's pretty much worthless.
OpenMovieEditor: Won't read my video files.
KDenLive: Annihilates my processor, and the sync goes off every time I trim clips
Cinelerra: crashes whenever I load any files.
LiVES: No idea if this does it, but the documentation seems to say no.
I'm about to lose my damn mind here. Is there anything I'm missing?

SomeGuyDude wrote:Avidemux, as I said, doesn't do picture in picture. Nor any of the other host of things I'd like to do with my clips. Thus, it's no good to me.
Blender's sequence editor can do picture in picture:

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a bunch of plug-ins that suit what you need, whether internal or third party.

  • What is some good video editing software for the Imac?

We just got a Imac for my church but Imovie is not cutting it, I need software that can capture video through a firewire. Can then edit it with adding effects such as fading in and out. Then it needs to be able to/have included software that I can use to put the video onto a dvd. I want to know of the best stuff out there. Thanks!

I need software that can capture video through a firewire.
Here is how I do it (I have tried almost everything).
For maximum quality here is my procedure:  ADVC300 > iMovie 06 > iDVD 11
    http://www.videoguys.com/Item/Grass+Valley+ADVC300/035303230363.aspx
I would use iMovie 06 with iDVD 09/11, why?
iMovie 09/11 uses 'single field processing' meaning every other horizontal line of the video is thrown out, which reduces the sharpness of the footage. iMovie 06 uses ALL of the image to form the video.

  • I am looking for a good video tutorial, or source for tree & foliage brushes

I have a map created in Illustrator CC. The area is heavily forested, so I need a good source for vector trees and foliage for brushes.

Just enter your keywords into Google and you might find this:

if it's not what you want, please be more precise.

  • Looking for a good video tutorial for Final cut express?

Does anybody know where I can find one?
Possibly free, but definitely on video, I m just allergic to written tutorials and other books.
    Thanks.

    Hi Mathieu.
If you click on this hotlink you will find over 50 FREE video tutorials on FCE/FCP.
Many of them are for FCP BUT (most) also apply to FCE.
They can be downloaded so that you can use them whenever you want. (Allow about an hour to download them all - you have to do them one at a time).
I found some excellent tips in them.

Hope you find them as useful as I did.
