O/S error in starting Oracle DBID Agent

Hi,
I'm installing fresh Oracle 8.1.7 software. However, after a while it gives me an error mesage "O/S error in starting Oracle<DBID>Agent. I open Services window. I try to start the service manually. It gives me "The service could not be start on local computer".
Could anyone help me on this. Thank you.
Rgds,
Hapizorr Rozi Alias

^^ the best choice right now would be oracle 10.2 as 9.2 will be de-supported by the end of june 2007...some sap products (using the 46D_EXT kernel..) will support oracle 10.2.

  • OCS on windows error in starting oracle

Dear All I have Installed collab. Suite 904 single-box to Windows 2000, installation was ok, every thing was working. After restart when I try to start oracle by issuing "/as sysdba" it gives me error of insufficient privileges. I am not sure what went wrong, I am logged on by local admin (the same account I used to install, yet my machine is the member of a domain) and it is in the ora_dba group.
Can any body point me what to do to start the database.
    Thanks

go to $ORACLE_HOME/dbs. In there you should find a file called init.ora. Make a copy of it and call it init<SID>.ora. In your case that would be initSecondDB.ora. Once you have done that, start up the instance and it should come up.

  • Error when starting oracle instance

    Hi,
today, after a lot of trouble, I was able to install oracle 10.2.0.1 on redhat as 4 upd 2 x86_64.
This link helped me so much http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle10g.shtml help.
I met a link error because of binutils version. After I installed binutils-2.15.92.0.2-15.0.0.0.2.x86_64.rpm (my version was binutils-2.15.92.0.2-15.0.0.0x86_64.rpm), I did retry and the install problem was solved.
Then during dbca I met another error (ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact) because of libaio. I had 32 bit version instead of 64 bit. After the package update dbca run successfully.
I'm facing the following problem during instance startup:
    "Thu Apr 19 17:40:17 2007
    Errors in file /oracle/admin/UAT/udump/uat_ora_2697.trc:

    ORA-06512: at "SYS.OLAPIHISTORYRETENTION", line 1
    ORA-06512: at line 15"
I told you those things about installation phase because maybe this error is related to the install (maybe something went wrong without I know it).
    Error in trace is:

  • Packages error while installing Oracle Management Agent.

    Hi,
We have configured the oracle grid on our production server.
Now we also want to include all other database on situated on different server.
So we are installing oracle management agent software.
while installiing this software we encounterd following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Unsatisfied LinkError :/tmp/OraInstall2011-05-04_10-05-58PM /jre/1.4.2/lib/i386/libawt.so :libXp.so.6 :cannot open shared object file:
    No such file or directory.
Please help me as this is urgent.
    Regards,
    Milan

You need to install libXp package.
The rpm which contains this package is libXp-1.0.0-8.i386.rpm. It is located in the /server direrctory of the OS install DVD. You copy this rpm from the DVD and install it using
    # rpm -ivh libXp-1.0.0-8.i386.rpm
or if you have setup yum or up2date repository:
    yum install libXp.i386

  • Error in starting Oracle 9.2.01 on Redhat 9

    Hi,
I am a novice in linux. When I tre to start Oracle Instance from terminal window when logged in as Oracle user, I get the following message.
    [oracle@linserver oracle]$ dbstart
Can't find init file for Database "SecondDB".
    Database "SecondDB" NOT started.
Following is the current setting in /etc/oratab file
    *:/opt/oracle/product/9.2:N
    SecondDB:/opt/oracle/product/9.2:Y
    I don't what should I do.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

go to $ORACLE_HOME/dbs. In there you should find a file called init.ora. Make a copy of it and call it init<SID>.ora. In your case that would be initSecondDB.ora. Once you have done that, start up the instance and it should come up.

  • Error while starting Oracle Management server service

    Hi all,
We are about to administer our database using Oracle Enterprise manager. For that we have configured OEM in a Test PC and tried to connect our database.
First i have logged in to OEM Console with Sysman login id using the default password "oem_temp" and it prompts me to change the password, also i have changed the password as "xxxxx" and i have come out of OEM console and tried to relogin using the changed password.
i got the message as invalid login or password or
check for the availablity of Management server service"
i found that the service Oracle Management server which was previously running is not running now and i tried to restart that manually.
On doing that i got a message as
"Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"
Would any one of u help me to solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance..

Hi-- could you please describe your administrative domain?
I need to know the operating systems on each of the
clients and the OSB admin server. Also, does 'obtool' CLI
tool work? Do any of the machines act as an apache webserver
for another application? Is there any other backup service
running on any of the machines?
    thanks,
    Judy
I noticed that when re-installing the OSB without the
Administrative Server (only Media Server and Client)
I got no errors at all (but still cannot connect from
another Administratice Server to my machine)

    Hi Cema,
Make sure that httpd.conf file (located at /ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf ) has not changed.
Is your AS running on Linux? ".so" is used in case of linux only and for windows extension should be ".dll"
Please use the same if your http server is running on windows. HTTP Server documetation may have more details related to this.
