O.T.  Hair light for portraiture

Could someone recommend some good reading on how to set up a hair light in a basement-style studio? I'm limited to 7.5 feet of ceiling height.
Just got some Alien Bees flash units, and I'm ready to start doing some new things with my hobby.
Thanks.
Al

Thanks. I like the tin foil idea.
I'll do some searching on Google, as well. I just hoped that I'd find some quick insight here, since I know there are many photographers that tap into the Photoshop forums.
What would be a good height for a hair light? An alternative location would be my garage. It has 9 foot ceilings. Since the equipment can be set up easily, I could utilize that space, as needed. It's much bigger in area, besides.

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the computer wont connect to networks. I see you have used network diagnostic. • Help me - iPod Shuffle 4th gen is probably dead - red light for 5 seconds

    Hello,
sorry for my bad english. I hope you can help me.
I have iPod Shuffle 4th gen. I have it for one year. When I today tried to charge it, after connected to my PC (in the right USB port) I heard sound of connecting device but in Windows in My Computer nothing happened. On the iPod the diode emitted the red light for 5 seconds and then turned off. I have iTunes and iTunes doesn't recognize the iPod too.
Does anybody know what is wrong?
    Thanks

  • Problem with E61 - no more light for keyboard

I have a E61 and now there is no more light for the keyboard
I put all default settings but the keyboard stays always dark
    What is the problem ?
    Thanks for helping

The problem could lie with your photo detector on the top left corner of the phone. If this does not detect light correctly or if it does not detect light at all it will cause the keypad lights to malfunction.
Best let your NSC test it and repair what is necessary.

  • Keypad Lighting for BB Curve 3G 9300

Hi, can't seem to find in the options how to enable the lighting for the keypad of my BB Curve 9300 3G model.  Can't type anything in the dark because i can't see the keypad due to absence of back lighting.  Thanks.

    hello,
the backlight of the screen can be configured, but the backlight of the keyboard cannot. It is automatically triggered when the proximity censor feels it's dark.
I suggest you to go to your carrier support and have them look at this issue, and maybe change your device for another one.

  • Error lights for paper and cartridge

The error lights for paper feeding problems and cartridge jams are both on. I have checked both the paper feeding and the movement of the cartridge. There are no problems in either area (no paper is jammed anywhere and the cartridge can move freely). Yet, I cannot get the two error lights to go away, even when I unplugged the printer, disconnect the power cord and press the cancel button. I've tried everything in the step-by-step troubleshooting on the HP website, and I also downloaded the complete software package from HP and checked for driver updates. What else is there to do? Is this printer compatible with MacOS "Yosemite"?
    Thanks!
    John

    HI John,
You can try 1 more step.Unplug the printer cable while the printer is turned ON.Wait for 60 seconds.Connect the power cable back to the printer.Remove the ink cartridges and place them back again. If this step does not work, then it is a hardware issue with printer and needs to be replaced.

  • T400 LCD screen is very dim, but icon lights for HDD, etc. are working

Hi - I'm wondering if anyone knows what the issue with my T-400 would be if the LCD screen is very dim.  Details include:
    - When I boot up, there's a faint outline of what is going on, but barely noticeable since the whole screen is very, very dim
    - Video card is working okay, because I can operate the laptop when I plug in an external monitor
    - The icon lights for HDD, power, battery, etc. are still working
Thanks so much for the help.

First a question: Is it a CCFL backlight or LED? If it is a CCFL, it could be just the inverter, which is a lot cheaper than the panel. If the CCFL bulb goes out, usually (but not always) there is a red tint to the screen for a while first. The LED backlights are less likely to blow and there is no inverter. (The LED backlight is DC and the inverter convers the DC to AC to drive the CCFL bulb) Do you know which kind of backlight you have? If you don't know, send me your full model and serial in a pm and I'll look it up. Don't post it in the open forum. Also, what were you doing when it went out? Were you doing anything except normal work, like taking something apart or hooking something up?

  • Light for iSight camera?

I keep having a problem where if I am working on the couch or on the road, the lighting is too dim for anyone to see me on iChat. I remember there being a light for the old iSight camera, does anyone know if there is something similar for the built-in iSight camera? It would help out a lot.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello BayArea MacFan
With the suggestions above, you have several good options.
I don't know of anything like the old Griffin SightLight for use with built-in iSight.
I have a SightLight, but use it only on the road. For daily use at home, I light my face with a small clamp-on lamp like this one. I tried several different bulbs and settled on a small (9 watt) "warm" toned fluorescent bulb that gave the best color balance without being too bright or too hot.

I THINK I have solved the problem. Can't be 100% because I don't want to try a restore. At least the Apple home page lites up correctly with quicktime now. It hadn't in the past.

  • Screen is black, no fan is running, LED lights for volume is on/off

On a random day, I opened up laptop to use and hit the power button, everything turned on but the screen slowly went white. turned back off & then back on & still did same thing. A couple months later, tried to use it again, LED lights for volume, network, and light on front of laptop are lit, but everything else is not; screen is black, no fan running. This is only when I plug an HDMI cable from one laptop to another. Laptop was plugged into charger, when it is unplugged of hdmi, it is completely useless. Is there some way I can get the files back that i had on the laptop? my brother said a while back that it is completely shot. Id really appreciate some help & if anyone knows the fees I would have to get it fixed by HP or best buy, that'd be great! ( if it is even worth fixing, let me know.)

If you want us to help, then tell us what kind of laptop we are discussing. What are you trying to do by running an hdmi cable from one laptop to another? It will do nothing so don't do it. You can check to see whether it is the motherboard or the screen by connecting an external monitor and see if it gets a picture on the external screen. You can get your data off by removing the hard drive and using an adapter to connect it to another computer.

  • Adobe Type Manager Light for 64-bit operating system?

Can anyone help me locate Adobe Type Manager Light for a 64-bit operating system? The downloadable version on Adobe's website appears to only be compatible with 32-bit systems. Or, is there another type manager program that will allow me to use Type 1 fonts on a 64-bit, Windows Vista system?

Several third party font management applications are fully compatible with 64-bit Vista and 64-bit Windows 7, including my own company's. That would be Extensis Suitcase Fusion 2.

If you need ATM Light for multiple master font support, there are two key issues. First, ATM Light can run on 64-bit Windows, but won't install. Second, it is incompatible with User Account Control, a security feature in Vista. The following procedure has been reported to work on 64-bit Vista:
    - install ATM Light on a 32-bit version of Windows
    - turn off User Account Control on your 64-bit Vista computer (YES, this makes your computer less secure)
    - copy the ATM directory over to the 64-bit Vista computer
    Cheers,
    T
