O.T.   Obituary

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved friend by the name of COMMON SENSE, who has been with us for many years . No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape .
He will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, and that life isn't always fair .
COMMON SENSE lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn )
and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge ).
His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate: teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch : and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student because it would only worsen his condition.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student, but, could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion .
Then COMMON SENSE lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband ; churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims .
Finally COMMON SENSE gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot . She spilled a bit in her lap,and was awarded a huge settlement .
COMMON SENSE was preceded in death by his parents,TRUTH and TRUST, his wife,DISCRETION,
his daughter,RESPONSIBILITY,and his son,REASON .
He is survived by a stepbrother, MY RIGHTS, and a stepsister, IMA WHINER.
Not many attended his funeral, because so few realised he was gone . If you still know him pass this on . If not, join the majority and do nothing .

Bert,
The first 5 books are also part of Jewish religious books as well - I
won't embarrass myself by saying the wrong name when I don't have my
references handy. The 10 commandments are listed at least twice (once in
Dueteronomy and once in Exodus) in these 5 books. They are not just
Christian, but Jewish.
Besides, if you take the 3 that specifically mention God away, you still
have a pretty decent list of generic laws:
1. Honor your mother and father (so that you may live long and prosper)
2. Don't lie (or give false testimony)
3. Don't murder
4. Don't covet (neighbor's wife, donkey...)
5. Don't steal
6. Don't commit adultry
(These are all about treating others well.)
7. Take a day of rest.
(This one is about treating yourself well.)
(The other 3: Don't take the Lord's name in vain, Don't make idols, and
don't have other gods -- are about treating God well.)
Malcom,
Don't fret. I don't think common sense is completely dead, just (to
quote from a movie called "The Princess Bride") "Mostly dead" - which
means it can be revived - you just need "Twue Wuv."

  • How did FACEBOOK get details of an obituary search I made in order to suggest me as a friend to a relative of the deceased?

Only one day after I searched for the obituary of my spouse's deceased relative, Facebook suggested me as a friend to the deceased's brother-in-law. We have no connection other than that, no one who is friends to us both. Somehow, the information about the family of the deceased, which included this person's name, was linked to me and thus prompted Facebook to suggest me as a friend. I consider this to be a serious invasion of my privacy. Please give me an explanation.
    Thank you,
    Nancy Brownlee

This is a Firefox support forum, not a Facebook forum. FB uses a multitude of algorithms to suggest friends and news stories, and most of them are secret. I'd suggest complaining to them.

  • I created an obituary using indesign but it will only print the even nuber of pages. What am I missing?

I created an obituary using in design but it will only print the even number of pages.  What am I missing?

Check your print dialog box, see if Even Pages Only has gotten selected.

  • Obituary?

Not sure if thisis a hardware or software problem so I'll try it here:
A day or two ago my Palm TX just died.
None of the five buttons which normally switch the unit on, cause any response.
    Neither does the reset button.
Even though the battery (which was holding a good charge) should not be dead,
I put the unit on charge for a while.  No results!
    Do I now have a $ 300 paper weight?
    Anyone offer me $ 200?
    Seriously: Any thoughts or ideas?
    Thanks!

Any physical damage to it?  Was it dropped or got wet?
It is a bit strange for the battery to just "drop dead" like that, ergo my questions above.
You can try to do an incorrectly named "In cradle reset" - plug in the charger, and press the reset button then let it charge for a few hours.
The E2 series sometimes suffers a strange fate like this, and surgery seems to correct it.  Open the case (which voids your warrenty) and disconnect the battery cable, then reconnect.  The battery is soldered to the TX motherboard, so some skills with a soldering gun will come into play.

  • After Firefox upgrades, I hear people talking when I go to one website only. This is the second time this has happened..

    This was my original problem--
Every time I go to the obituary page, I start hearing talking and then firefox freezes. Why? This has only started happening recently.
I can look at everything on this website without a problem until I go to the obit page. I cannot even get halfway down when I start hearing the talking and then Firefox stops responding. When I close it and reopen it, I can sometimes change the number of obits viewed per page from 10 to 25 and I can then see them. Today, it kept freezing, so I had to use Safari. This only happens on the obit page on this one web site. The web site is http://www.news-record.com/. I have no other problems with Firefox and really like it very much. I am wondering if this has starting happening since the last Firefox update. Right now I have version 3.6.24. Any help you might be able to provide will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Mary.
The only difference is I am not having the crashing. Just the sound. System details OSX 10.4.11 Firefox version 3.6.27

  • I have a new iMac and would like to buy a cheap version of Photoshop to create a simple flyer.  If I look on ebay or similar, what version do I require?

I have a new iMac and would like to buy a cheap legal version of Photoshop to create a simple flyer.  If I look on ebay or similar, what version do I require?
I understand that Photoshop 5 is not compatible?
I used to use CS5 at work which was very good, doing a little reserach it appears as if this suite has been replaced by a monthly 'cloud' charge which for me as a basic home user is unnecessary.
    Appreciate any help.

    Hello Simonlala;
Anyone that buys an iMac should not have to buy "cheap".  it's like putting "retread tires" on a brand new Farrari! Ugh!
To find a cheap version of PS is to locate an obsolete version only?  Software surplus business may have some or check the obituary columns to see if any Photographers or Gaphic Designers have left some things behind?
Some options...enroll in a community college Multimedia class and you will not only have access to Photoshop, you'll have access to much more software for the price of the course.  It will also qualify you as a student and you can get a discounted rate on the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription as well.
If you are only making "simple flyers" would not MS Word or OpenOffice software do the job for you?  There are applications for that purpose and Photoshop is not the only way to skin this cat!  Or you can always buy a box of Crayola's and make a pamphlet that way?
And as a bonus, you may learn something from the course you enroll in.
I am a student and subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud...it's reasonable for my purposes for now.

    Hi Venkat,
XI 3.0 and XI 7.0 rather it is PI 7.0 are identical. Only some of the features of the XI 3.0 are enhanced. And PI7.0 is a part of SAP nw2004<b>s</b> platform.

  • XI 3.0 to PI 7.0 upgrade

    Hi,
One of my client is oing to upgrade from XI 3.0 to PI 7.0 and I need some information regarding this:
    1. What are the advantages offered by PI 7.0 over XI 3.0 ?
    2. What are the steps involved in such an upgrade esp from XI 's point of view. Also, do let me know what are the responsibilites of a XI consultant in Xi- PI upgrade.
    Thanks....

    Hi Patil,
XI 7.0 which I think will be called as PI7.0 will more or less same as XI3.0 except a few changes. Some of them can be found in:

There is not much difference between XI 3.0 with latest Service Pack i.e. 20 or 21 and PI 7.0
The main difference between 3.0 and 7.0 is the GUI in SLD. But, it is pretty easy to adopt. All other components, e.g. IR, ID, RWB, should virtually be identical.
7.0 also contain some SCM contents not available from 3.0. For most of us, this is a non-issue.
In 7.0 we can schedule a background job and edit the payload.
    XI3.0 is based on WAS(web application server)6.40 - NW2004
    PI7.0 is based on WAS(web application server)7.0 - NW2004's
Currently SP 21 for XI 3.0 and SP12 for PI 7.0 is the latest one.

Firefox will show the link if nothing is blocking it...
In case an ad blocker, script blocker, or another extension is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

  • Surveys in BI / BW

    Hallo
We configured Surveys in our BI system. It works well and we are able to send the Surveys out to users.
We are having difficulties in configuring the following items:
    1. The subject line , we cannot find the input screen to change the subject
    2. The reply address on the send questionnaire button , the send questionnaire button contains code "mailto:" with the server e-mail addr. This works fine for internal users but the server email domain is not public, we would like to change this address to a public email addr. an then forward it to the server internal mail addr. for external users.
    3. Is there a way to use a web page as the survey and not as an email attachement
    Help will be appreciated

  • 10 Years Nokia and it's goodbye from me!

I have been a loyal Nokia customer for 10 years, always purchasing their handsets on a yearly basis.
Due an upgrade on my contract, i was going to go for the N900 but after the huge disapointment of my N97 i thought, enoughs enough i will try something else, Nokia don't deserve any more of my cash until they bring the software up to date.
I now have a HTC HD2 and it is amazing, i go the handset and it is WOW WOW WOW, i was hoping for this feeling with the N97 but never got it.
    Bye.

Solution to this, BUY AN IPHONE
As i posted in the nokia obituary thread, i want it everywhere so everyone knows how much of a piece of **bleep** the phone is
I sadly was one of the foolish Who purchased an N97 at great expense, struggled with it for months on end, problem after problem. This was far from my first nokia I've had nokias ONLY since the mid to late 90's as they were the leaders. Key word WERE.
As I simply couldn't deal with the problems with the phone preventing me from doing simple tasks like making or receiving calls etc + the various other failings the N97 had + the time (days, weeks? Who knows) spent formatting, reloading, resetting and just trying to get the thing to work just crushed me.
Some say the N97 was released to early? Well to you I say it was far to late, if it was released "later" when it was more "ready" it would have been scrapped as there is no way it could even be thought it could compete with other handsets that will be on the market in say the next 6 months. Nokia were just not ready, the phone was not ready, they were behind the 8 ball and knew it, but instead decided to release a substandard product to burn all those loyal customers out there.
My solution ? Ebay, I sold the N97 at a great loss after the great expense of purchasing a "Flagship" phone 6 months prior.
What did I get you ask? Well I got an iphone of course.
Well that's a rubbish phone I hear you all say?! And the N97 "technically" with all its apparent and "advertised" features (never seen in the flesh & working) run rings around the N97 .. Sure you are right in theory. But you want to hear the crazy part?
IT WORKS, I bought it, activated it, imported my address book & contacts, made a few settings changes, got a few apps (I even paid for them, something id never do with the OVI store) I have EVERYTHING I want working fine without problem.
I then JB'd the phone to get it a little more "custom" to the way I want it.
That's it, its been a few weeks now with this thing and I haven't had to format it, restore it, hard reset, spend hours of my days trying to get it to work, wondering why I haven't got calls or sms's that are expected to find that its locked up (N97)
None of these things, like most people these days I don't have the time nor care for a product that wont be fixed to be all that it was promised it was, I don't have the time to waste trying to get it to work.
In short I no longer have time for nokia as they haven't got time for me.
As a "turning point" as such I also got rid of the Mrs. nokia phone (N95) and got her an iphone as I wish to not support nokia in any way.
And even more amusing when I "terminated" my OVI account a couple of weeks back I thought that would be the end of it, it said this will close all your nokia accounts Inc your discussions profile, but no even the OVI TERMINATE FUNCTION DOESNT WORK!!!! I STILL GET EMAIL UPDATES FROM NOKIA WITH NO WAY TO UNSUBSCRIBE !!!!! - Can't log in as my user details don't work to change subscription settings, and there is no OFF setting for subscriptions either.
