  • SharePoint site is asking for user/password

I just created a new web application on port 80 with anonymous access enabled.
Web application is using host header "portal" which is also defined in IIS under "Bindings" (this was done by SharePoint automatically when I created web application). I have also created a site collection under this web application.
In AAM, default zone is defined as http://portal
I have created "A Record" in DNS (this is single server farm for testing) with name "portal" and using same IP which is assigned to this server which is 192.168.137.121.
Problem is when I try to open http://portal in browser, it asks me to enter user/password even though I am logged in as site collection administrator. And no matter how many times I give user/password it keeps asking me to login again and again.
Even if I disable anonymous access, it asks for user/password. I have reset IIS several times.
    What am I doing wrong?

The first thing to check is whether you configured the SuperUser and SuperReader accounts for this Web Application correctly.  I've seen this kind of behavior if the accounts are not set in PowerShell or if the accounts are set using NTLM names instead
of Claims.  Take a look at the following for more information:

  • How to use different xsl's for user first time logon in OAM

    Hi,
We have a requirement to use different stylesheets (xsls) for employees and customers in OAM. How we can configure different XSLs for user first time logon to OAM (i.e for change password and configuring challenge and responses).
Any pointers on this is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance..
    Srikanth

XSLs displayed are controlled by the StyleCookie. So if you can set the value of this cookie to be different front customers and employees, they will see different styles.
You can do this in various locations -> from the web server, from the url, custom plugins, etc....

    Paying is no problem.
    Excuse my broken english

    Hi
I doubt you would get it in book-form.
As far as I know you can download it as .pdf file from the Toshiba European driver page.
But why you dont print this user manual?
    You can do this easily

  • Question on use of external drive for /Users

I'm rapidly running out of room on my 2nd internal drive which is setup as the /Users drive - it's the stock 160GB drive. I also have an external Lacie 250 being used for backup of both my boot drive and the user drive. I figured I'd just replace the 160 with a 300 internal, but I'd hate to leave a good drive sitting around doing nothing! So I'd end up buying an enclosure for the 160 as well and use it for my recent forray into video.
Since I want to do this for the least ammount of money possible, as I've already spent more than I should recenlty on upgrades, I thought I'd just leave the 160 internal and buy a 300 or 250 external for the user drive. I've read on the forums that external speeds suffer greatly, but will this make a difference for the user drive? All applications are installed on the boot drive, BTW.
If the conclusion is that the external would be fine, the other question is what interface? I currently have the Lacie on FW800 and would love to add another FW800, but that would require daisey chaining the 2 and I've read here that this causes major problems - especially since one would be backing up the other. I could move the backup to FW400 since I have nothing there currently - don't think I'd see a performance issue there since it backs up in the wee early morning hours. Of course theres always USB 2.0 and I could probably get a cheaper drive with that interface - maybe.
Again, cost is an option currently, so keep that in mind with your suggestions. TIA
    Anthony

I've thought about that. Although most of the "good" enclosure's I've seen go for more than $60. Course I could just be looking in the wrong place.
I'm still debating what to do. I could replace the inernal, keep the 160, and when I can afford it again buy the SwiftData 200 kit to install it inside. That's a bit more money, though, but will give me more room to expand in the future.
It's a tough decision. I just want to do what's best for my G5 of course and keep it happy!

  • Using default web interface for users

I wish to use the default web interface for my users, I do not have the time to develop a custom app. I wish to get rid of the group and and mount point folders.
    Please Help,

CM SDK 9.0.4 (released very shortly) includes the "Web Starter Application". This is a J2EE Web Application with full MVC architecture and completely open source!
You may be able to obtain this application sooner from Oracle Consulting - it will work on the current CM SDK 9.0.3.
JSP and Tag Libraries make up the UI. The controller framework is similar to Jakarta Struts. It offers localization support, ADA compliance etc.
You can easily develop the application from JDeveloper and deploy to 9iAS.

  • Converting wmv files for use in imovie 9 for users who have pc

To convert wmv files use your pc windows movie maker. (if you have one) On your pc, open windows movie maker, get collections and get your wmv project/video, drag it into the timeline, and then save in your computer, save it as an avi file and rename it. After send file to your memory card reader, that way you can transfer that file onto your mac!! And voila! I tried to email it but file became too large so transfering it to a memory card is the easiest. This took me days to figure out, I hope I have helped someone out there.....

I don't want to use DV because these .m2t files are from an HDV camcorder and I want to preserve the aspect ratio and resolution in the files. What other "flavor" of HD would you suggest that I convert them to since (a) I can't bring the files into FCP6 or Compressor (b) I don't see any other flavors of HD to use in VisualHub.
The whole business of converting .m2t files to a FCP6 compatible format, i.e. a Quicktime format, would seem to be one that is commonly encountered, and yet I have never found a thread on this forum that really answers this question: What is the best workflow for converting .m2t files for use in FCP? Surely, one of the pros who frequent this forum must have dealt with this issue and have an answer.
I don't want to have to recapture the files from tape all over again just to use them in FCP6.

  • What are you supposed to do for users manual for the iPhone 5?

What or how do you get the user's manual for the iPhone 5?

It is accessible on your iPhone by going in to Safari and clicking on the open book icon at the bottom of the screen. You will see the option for the iPhone User Guide. You can also access it on your computer via the www.apple.com/support website and either download it to your computer for offline use or open it and read it that way.

  • 40+ VLANs for user isolation ?

I need to construct a wired network that achieves only two purposes:  a) Allows 40+ users to access Internet only;  b) establishes user isolation preventing any user from viewing the files of others users. There is no LAN to LAN communication. Initial thought is to use VLANs or ACLs for user isolation.  But which 24 port switches and router will support this many VLANs/ACLs?  Need to avoid Enterprise products to minimize cost.  Network does not have a server and computer MAC addresses frequently change.  Already have SLM224G smart switches, if they can be used.

    Hi
No nothing to be done at the RV082 level.  It sorta like having layer 2 filtering rules built in for each switch port..
So,  even at routing level at layer 3, the packets might hit the ingress port of the switch from the router,  switch says Oh Oh , you want to go from switch port 1 Host  MAC address  still to switch port 2's Host MAC address, that's a no no.
PVE  setup is like having 48 seperate Layer 2 untagged  vlans terminating at the untagged uplink port .
So Ok, it wont take long to test..hang in there............ and I'll test the functionality.
    OK here we go.
I am using a UC520 Integrated Services Router as my layer 3  WAN router.  My WAN router, ethernet expansion port is connected to switch port  G4 of the SRW248G4P-K9-NA.  As you can see from a screen capture below, this is a POE switch, you probably don't need the POE version.
I plugged two IP hosts into the switch,
    Host PC 1 = 192.168.10.61  in switch port e31
    Host PC 2 = 192.168.10.14  in switch port e37
I had a third host plugged into the ISR router switch port, so this Host is on the router and not the switch.
    Host PC 3 = 192.168.10.13  on switch port 0/1/0 of UC520
Host 3, which is outside the switch  could always ping host 1 and Host 2
Host 1 could ping Host 2 and 3 before i enabled  protection on  switch ports 1 to 48.
I left the four Uplink ports unprotected.
    After I protected switch ports 1-48, as you would expect;
Host 1 could NOT  ping Host 2
Host 2 could NOT ping Host 1
    Host 1 and Host 2 could ping Host 3 . What follows is the splash screen on my switch so you can see the active ports;
    My system was quickly configured via the GUI, but i copied  the relevant section off the running config and will pasted it below;
    interface range ethernet e(1-48)
    switchport protected-port
    exit
    interface vlan 1
    ipv6 enable no-autoconfig
    ipv6 address 2001:1:1:1::224/64
    exit
    interface vlan 1
    ip address 192.168.10.223 255.255.255.0
    exit
    ip default-gateway 192.168.10.1
It stops dead the  protected ports from communicating with other protected ports in both a Layer 2 and Layer 3 environment.
It's Saturday here in Raleigh NC, I gotta get out and pretend to do some gardening.
    regards Dave

  • My Canon SD970 IS digital camera user manual is missing......

Well now I'm dead. I cannot find the User Manual for my Canon SD970 IS digital camera, I've Googled for user manual downloads, to no avail. I have never taken video with it and need the manual to learn how to take videos on it. 8-(
    ~L

I don't know how I missed that at the Canon site -- probably careless reading when seeing the IXUS NUMBER (990) and passing over it, not knowing that Ixus 990 is the European name and number --- but mostly just careless reading.
I will do reading from this PDF form and print out relevant pages, but still would like to buy a paper booklet that I can stick in my purse.
Thank you again. You solved my issue.

  • Using a Single Library for Entire Site and When to Use Subsites

I'm hoping a discussion I am having with my coworkers can be solved.  We are trying to decide two things:
Should the entire office be under a single site or should each division have their own site?  Our Office has 5 divisions that contain 17 Branches, one site for business functions and one top-level site for the entire office.
Is it standard practice to create one huge library managed by metadata or should there be multiple libraries?  I tend to think one library will be too hard to manage with regard to metadata and site columns and that libraries should be based on business
functions or subject domains (i.e., SOPs, Quality Documents, Business Documents, Technical Documents, etc).
Currently, several workflows, libraries and lists have already been created under our business functions site.  In order to house everything under a single site, we would need to change the name of the site and move everything under it.  I'm not
sure if changing the name of the existing site will cause problems.
I group these two items together because they really seem related.  With everything under a single site, individual libraries, lists and workflows could get out of hand as everyone tries to manage their own division.  But then so would a single
library for everyone.  The problem with more than one site is that data cannot flow freely between sites (via workflows) and search would be less effective so some are against separate sites.  So knowing one question may affect the answer for the
    other.
Any thoughts on our library and site structure would be appreciated.  Thanks.

As always the usual SharePoint consultant cop-out answer of 'it depends' is correct.
Having said that there are certain trends that are quite relevant:
It isn't common to use a single site collection for all sites. It can be done but it often leads to a state where you have a single monstrous site collection which is harder to backup, recover and maintain (see the boundaries and limits documents). The
default behaviour in most cases is to have a central 'shared' site collection then one per <group> where Group is a team that works on the same content, has broadly the same area of interest and access. That might be one for HR, one for the Support team,
one for the Sales team etc.
In terms of libraries there's a wide variation. If there' no difference in views, security and metadata then keeping the library count down is generally a good thing. However using multiple libraries can make life easier and better for users by allowing
more useful views, more secure by locking down libraries rather than using item level permissions (always a nightmare) and allowing more useful alerts and so on.
SharePoint architecture is a science but it's a really, really hard one to formulate into If/Then rules. So, broadly answering your questions I would lean towards multiple site collections and I generally agree with you on point 2, although if there's only
a small number of documents and simple structure then a single library might still make sense.
