  • So all the bookmarks I've "bookmarked" for the past year are just gone - I have a mac, how do I go back & retrieve everything I've ever bookmarked on Firefox?

So all the bookmarks I've "bookmarked" for the past year are just gone - I don't understand why Firefox just doesn't automatically save every bookmark you make each session & put them in a place so you can organize them ... maybe there's some extra step you can take every session to force firefox to do this - I don't know what that is - but am also a bit aggravated that there has to be an extra step to do this - Internet Explorer just auto saves everything you bookmark, why can't Firefox - I see this as a big disadvantage to Firefox that needs to be made much simpler ... I have a mac, how do I go back & retrieve everything I've ever bookmarked on Firefox?
I think all the details are sufficiently covered in the question (which then in filling out the help form Firefox quite sillily made me shorten so I reposted the whole thing in this comment above - just another unnecessary step, seems to be the Firefox norm)
And btw the articles on lost bookmarks, saving bookmarks, etc. - were not helpful at all. Very not helpful. Almost anti-helpful.
I generally like Firefox & use it all the time, but this one area as to bookmarks is very frustrating & causing me to seriously consider not using Firefox at all & switching back to Internet Explorer or another browser like Google Chrome. What's the point of bookmarking something (which by itself indicates you are wanting to save the site link so you can re-find & re-visit it in the future) if Firefox just auto deletes all your bookmarking everytime it starts up? Just a completely user-unfriendly idea.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • I removed the 64 bit version of Firefox and now my bookmarks for the 32 bit version are gone. How do I get them restored?

Are previous bookmarks for the default stored somewhere on my hard drive?

See [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer]]. It's not specifically mentioned in the article since most people don't have multiple versions of Firefox installed (such as a released version and a [http://nightly.mozilla.org Nightly version]) but using the uninstall option '''Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations''' removes ALL of your Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] data and settings (bookmarks, passwords, cookies, etc.) . If you did choose that option when you uninstalled your 64-bit version of Firefox, then I'm afraid the profile data is gone.

  • I added another email address to my computer but firefox did not import the bookmarks for the new email address

I have firefox as my default browser (formerly it was internet explorer), and I use earthlink total access as my sign-in home page and email. I added my wife's profile to this computer, and during this procedure the bookmarks for her account are imported also. But when we sign in with her access, the home page displays correctly for her earthlink profile but the firefox bookmarks keep coming up with my bookmarks and toolbar instead of hers. I do not understand why firefox is not acknowledging this new profile with the correct bookmarks.

Thanks for your response. We originally had internet explorer as our browser, I use a laptop and my wife uses a pc. both have windows xp. The Earthlink total access is a software we downloaded years ago which gives a homepage format with email access and some other features. The IE toolbar is shown at the top of the page and has a tab for bookmarks. Whenever we switched computers (both have Earthlink access formats for each of us) the screen would show the proper bookmarks for the given sign-in person.
Then we changed to Firefox, and it recognized these IE bookmarks, mine on the laptop, and my wife's on the pc. Now I added her sign-in Earthlink setup so she could use the laptop, but the bookmarks on the laptop show my bookmarks and my firefox toolbar. We did not change anything else, and when we had IE this was automatic for whichever of us was signed in to the device via Earthlink account. The bookmark data was already on the laptop for each of us, yet Firefox does not switch it over as IE did. So I wonder why Firefox does not behave as IE did for browser features

  • How to write program for the long text in EMIGALL for the DEVICE LOCATION.

    Hi,
I am pretty new to this ISU field and i have been asked to code for a Long Text in EMIGALL for DEVICE LOCATION,
so i would like someone can help me with it.
    thanks in advance.
    Robert.

    Robert,
You can find most of the answers to your questions in the Guidelines:
Chapter 2.4.2 describes how to configure the field rule Fixed Value.
Chapter 2.4.5 describes how to configure the field rule via KSM.
Chapter 2.5 descibes the Key- and Status Management and the usage of the the KSM in field rules.
The specific answer to your questions are:
    (1) ...When i was adding the fixed rule, it was asking for domain so what should be the Domain that i should add ... You may ignore the domain field when creating a fixed value object. It's more for information purposes.
    (2) ... and what should i keep the fixed value, string or filed or abap rule ... I'd suggest to use 'String' and enter the specific value in the field 'FV contents'.
    (3) ... Finally you need to adjust the RETURN-FIELD of the newly created BAPI migration object to AUTO-X_HEAD-TDNAME, where do i make this adjustment can you specify that ... The return field can only be adjusted int the migration object maintenance screen (MigObject -> Change). Please see chapter 3.1 for more details on the 'return field' and figure 3-8 in chapter 3.4.2 how to generate a BAPI migration object.
    (4) ... Well i would also like to ask about the x_head-tdname =  via KSM (e.g. DEVLOC), where should i put the value ... You wanted to know how to migrate a long text of a device location migration object DEVLOC). According to chapter Chapter 2.4.5 you need to enter the name of the superior migration object (here DEVLOC) in the 'MigObject1'field on the 'via KSM' sub-screen on the field maintenance screen.
    (5) ... and what exactly would it be can i put DEVLOC in the ID of technical Object and where should i put this value... I am not sure I understand your question. In the end you will need to pass the number (ID) of the technical object in the TDNAME field. Either you put the id into the import file (only if you know the id) or you need to use the 'via KSM' field rule to replace the legacy system key of the device location by the SAP key by the load report and prior to passing the auto data to the application thus your new function module.
    Kind regards,
    Fritz

  • Short form or Alias for the long PCD location

    Hello Everybody,
We have created some iViews, pages and roles in EP.
Roles have long pcd ID. like:
    pcd:portal_content/com.<company name>.<root folder>//<Role name with prefix>
I am using this full text to point to the correct UM role in UWL configuration. This is very long. Can I assign any alias or short name like, portal_requestor so that I can use only "portal_requestor" to point to actual UM role?
    Please help me.
    Thanks,
    Bhavik

    Thanks for the response.
But, i tries providing quick link in the role name field. But it doesn't recognize this quick link. It gives error saying, invalid UM role.
Short URLs and Quick links are the options using which we can access any iViews or pages through browser with short url.
But, my issue is, how can I specify role name with such short form in Portal at design time.
If you go to System administration -> system configuration -> Universal worklist & Workflow -> Universal worklist - Administration, You will get a table for Universal worklist Systems.
Try to edit any one system over here. You will get one field called User roles. This is the field where I want to specify different roles for which this UWL system should be used. But, those roles names with prefix are too long. I need some alias or short form for role to specify over here.
Hopefully, now requirements should be clear.
    Thanks,
    Bhavik

  • I can remove only all but 1 bookmark using the "star " then remove bookmark, I have been carrying an obsolete website bookmark for the last 4 /5 years, why?

the persistent bookmark is the following:
    http://mac.macrecycling.com/screw-set-powerbook-g4-aluminum-17-p-100663.html
I haven't been able to remove it using "the remove bookmark" feature.

try this<br>Bring up the Bookmarks Library List ("Ctrl+Shift+B"), use search box to search for the bookmark and use the "Del" key to delete or right -click on the row then "Delete".
No idea why you can't remove the bookmark with the dialog.

  • Any reason for the long sporadic loading times during reboot

    Hi guys,
Just wanna find out more abt my experiences of encountering long loading times during a restart (up to 5mins). I do see the apple logo and the spinning wheel and it spins for like 2 mins, moves on the an all blue screen and fixed there for another 1 min and then the loading OS X meter. I suspect that the long loading time could be the cause of new softwares that I've installed or that I didn't reboot for days. Anyone care to share their experience and views on this? Is this normal? I feel that its long because usually restarting only take 1min or so to reach my log in screen.

15 seconds for a restart here ... something's not right with 2-5 minutes.
    - If you login as another user does it take as long?
    - Have you run Disc Utility and Repaired Permissions lately?
    - What about running the Daily and Weekly 'chron' jobs? (OnyX or MacJanitor etc)
    - Have you got haxies or similar extras in your StartUp folder?

  • Reference or Library? Which is better for the long run?

I decided to waste a day and re-organize my disorganized database of photographs held within aperture. I don't have any experience with referencing files but I was considering whether there are pros and cons to having files externally referenced versus having them within the Aperture library.
My habits are non-routine and I shoot pretty much anything, so I'm looking for a system that will ensure my library is flexible, stable, and safe for future use and access.
I suppose the only reason I can think of for referencing is having some control of where the actual files are so I can access/refer to them with other apps.
Please share your thoughts, experiences, and preferences.

I guess you are right about the duplicates still being an issue even if you find them outside of Aperture, since you still need to delete the links within Aperture, correct?
I never really worked with migrating projects except for moving the sample projects out to save space.
I was trying to think of how I will manage a RAW library when I can get my hands on that equipment, but migrating projects doesn't seem like such a bad thing to do. In fact, it seems rather ideal. Most of the time, I only need access to certain projects in certain parts of the year, and the rest of the time I never touch the photos.
You all have convinced me to give the managed library another go as I restructure my database. But I am still looking for the best ways to catch duplicates within Aperture. I know that you can stem them upon import, but Aperture's import duplicate-recognition technology in not consistent at all for me. Photos can be exactly the same but if they were not imported from the same source (i.e. memory card vs. finder folder) then Aperture won't think anything of it.
This is off topic, but is there a way to customize Aperture's duplicate detection? You would think that a pro software (and Aperture is pro, right?) would allow this. I might start a new thread on this topic.
The reason for my current obsession with duplicates is that I have a library of 12.5 GB of photos that I am pretty certain are already in Aperture, but when I test an import with the check box for not importing dupes, Aperture considers all the photos new. I then go in and find that none in that folder are new, but instead that they are all already in Aperture as is. Granted, I'm not worried about dupes taken after my migration to Aperture but for all of my photos before then, I'm kind of in a bind still.

  • Is 8gb worth it for the new 13" Retina MBP? or should i stay at 4gb?

So im planning on buying the new retina MBP. Really not sure if 8gb is worth it or if i should stay at 4gb. I plan on using this as my main computer for School and Home.

    Get the 8gb.
Back when it was possible to add memory yourself starting out with the minimum and adding more memory if you needed it was the way to go but now you're stuck with what you buy and if you undersize the memory you will not be happy with the system.

  • Is apple care worth it for the iphone4s?

I was wondering who has bought Apple Care for their iphone?  Do you think it is worth it??

Well Applecare + gives you up to two replacements for breakage incidents, so I think it's worth it. For $99.00 it's worth the piece of mind. I know that Apple will do a one time replacement for iPhone 4 but something tells me that this will be coming to an end with the new plan being available for 4S. If you can swing it, it's worth it to me.

  • Will OS X Mavericks be free for the long haul?

I ask this question because the upgade is free right now; unfortunately because of Pro Tools, I cannot upgrade since they are not compatible at this time.  Which *****, by the way.  My question is just whether the upgrade will continue to be free.  I would have for pro tools to release an update compatible with Mavericks and then it would no longer be free.
