OAS 10gR3 - JRE ?

Hi,
What is the version of JRE in Oracle Application Server 10g R3 (10.1.3.0) ?
Thanks in advance :)

Found the answer-
Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.1.0), or OC4J, provides a complete Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) 1.4-compliant environment.
OC4J is written entirely in Java and executes on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) of the standard Java Development Kit (JDK). The current OC4J release (10.1.3.1.0) can run on JDK releases 5.0 and 1.4.2.

  • How well does OAS on RHES on VMWare ESX work?

    We're currently running OAS 9.0.4 on RHES 3, but are considering using VMWare ESX. Possibly upgrading to OAS 10gR3 and RHES 4.
    Are there any particular problems or issues running OAS on VMWare? I'm aware of Oracle's stated support position about VMWare, i.e., any new problem must be reproducible on a standalone machine.
    I'm basically wondering if this setup will work well or not, before we commit to this direction.
    Thanks in advance for any input.

    Have you had any responses? We are looking at doing this for our production environment as well. Also, I am not sure if you were aware that Oracle on June 29th has changed their position on VMWare. Instead of requiring users to show that a problem is reproduible on a standalone machine, Oracle will do this and if they cannot then Oracle will forward the problem onto VMWare tech support for resolution.
    Thanks.

  • Preconfigured OC4J vs OAS 10g R3 for WebCenter

    I discovered that all the example WSRP portlets that are contained in the preconfigured OC4J in JDeveloper, are not contained in OAS 10gR3.
    Is there way to get all the ear files to deploy them on OAS?
    Or any other solution?

    Steve,
    The sample portlets are deployed to the Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.2, indeed. You can access the producer test page through:
    http://<host>:<port>/portletapp/infofor example:
    http://my.host.com:7778/portletapp/infoThe portlets are deployed to the OC4J_WebCenter instance.
    If you're interested in deploying the app separately, you find more information on the PDK downloads page on OTN.
    Hope this helps,
    Peter

    In supported platforms manual for BO XI 3.1 sp2 windows there is a note on page 7 for specific patch level for OAS 10gR3 u201CPlease see release notes on the minimum version supported for Dashboard and Analytics.u201D We try to find on release notes (BOXI 3.1 & BOXI 3.1 sp2) for the exact patch level but there aren't any suggestions.
    Could you please inform about the exact patch level that is needed on OAS 10gR3.

    Hello,
    Many thanks you for your answer.
    Sorry to insist. It is not really clear in the SAP documentation about the minimum level of SAP NetWeaver BI 7.1 required
    for installing "Business Objects XI 3.1 SP2 Integration kit for SAPSolutions.
    Could you please find out (and provide me them) :
    - The minimum BI 7.01 patch level for installing Business Objects XI

  • OAS10g to Weblogic 11gR1

    We have a JSF application completely developed in JDeveloper 10.1.3 with ADF and Toplink, which is developed on OAS 10gR3 in oc4j. We will soon start working on migrating this to Oracle WebLogic Server 11g R1.
    With the OAS and Weblogic merge I am a little unsure of the best approach to this migration.
    Would the current project deploy into the weblogic server, or would we need to rebuild it completely in JDeveloper 11?
    Does oc4j work in Oracle WebLogic Server 11g R1?
    Does anyone have any lessoned learned that they would care to share?
    I saw that Toplink is supported in the Oracle WebLogic Server 11g R1, has anyone had any problems migrating from 10g?
    Any information would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank is advance for the info.

    I think "JDeveloper 10.1.3 uses an older version of JSF that WebLogic 11g. You would be best upgrading your app with JDeveloper 11g and then re-deploying".
    OC4J does not works in Oracle WebLogic 11g, WebLogic provides its own j2ee container.
    Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g introduces a new architecture, based on Oracle WebLogic Server. You should get familiar with the new 11g features before starting your upgrade. Please check:

  • [OSB and OWSM] - External Web service stacks and frameworks

    Hi everyone ! I'm starting to read about OSB and OWSM and I'm having some doubts. I've some developments of Web services with external Stacks like CXF, JBossWS, Metro and I'd like to ask some questions:
    1- Will I be able to productively leverage all features of OSB and OWSM like creating a proxy service to add WS-* standards policies and features (WS-Security, for instance) even with these web services implemented in different stacks other than Weblogic's ?
    2- If it is possible, do these web services need to be deployed at the Weblogic server to enable the OWSM and OSB to work effectively ?
    3- Even if it is possible to use the OSB and OWSM nicely with webservices developed at external stacks and deployed at other application servers is there any reason to quit using these external web service stacks in favor of Weblogic's (like features only enabled on OSB/OWSM when the services use the Weblogic stack) ?
    I suppose that if I ignore the JAX-WS stack from Weblogic and use an external framework (like CXF) I'll lose most of the application server administration capabilities since the Weblogic server won't be able to recognize the CXF stack as it does with its own.But, the main doubt I'm in is, since OSB and OWSM might be used with external providers I probably won't need to develop my web services using the Weblogic implementation (which my team does not yet know) since there will be no features of the OSB and OWSM which can only be used with the Weblogic's stack. I would like, please, to know your oppinions about these considerations. Sorry about the long post and possible errors (I just started learning).
    Thank you!

    Hi Lupan,
    I can speak mostly to OWSM as my experience with OSB is small thus far.
    +1- Will I be able to productively leverage all features of OSB and OWSM like creating a proxy service to add WS-* standards policies and features (WS-Security, for instance) even with these web services implemented in different stacks other than Weblogic's ?+
    OWSM (10gR3) has two types of policy enforcement point (PEP) -- Gateway and Agent. The Gateway acts as a remote proxy and is neutral to the service implementation technology as long as it adheres to SOAP 1.1. In this regard you can use OWSM freely with CXF, MS implementations, etc. Agents run in-process with the service and thus have far greater restrictions on what service implementation frameworks and containers that are supported. There is some certification for AXIS 1.x running in OAS and Tomcat; but practically speaking, my recommendation for Agents is to only use within OAS 10gR3 where it is built in (and using OC4J Web Services through JAX-RPC).
    OWSM 11gR1 initially supports only agent-style (in process) PEP and is built-in to Fusion Middleware and WLS. It is only for Fusion and WLS Web Service implementations.
    OWSM is quite full-featured for WS-*.
    +2- If it is possible, do these web services need to be deployed at the Weblogic server to enable the OWSM and OSB to work effectively ?+
    "No" if using OWSM Gateway PEP. A qualified "Yes" if using OWSM Agent PEP.
    +3- Even if it is possible to use the OSB and OWSM nicely with webservices developed at external stacks and deployed at other application servers is there any reason to quit using these external web service stacks in favor of Weblogic's (like features only enabled on OSB/OWSM when the services use the Weblogic stack) ?+
    There is the manageability that you mention, but also there is the identity propagation scenario and tight security integration. Both OAS and WLS hosted services in the native stacks (JAX-RPC and JAX-WS) allow sophisticated and secure passing of identity in the request -- for instance, via SAML Assertions in the WS-Sec header -- and built-in capabilities to map the passed identity into the running service's Subject (i.e. enabling JAAS security etc.).
    In my experience this type of identity propagation functionality has either been absent or less complete in other typical implementation frameworks not closely aligned with the container security mechanisms.
    Hope this helps,
    Todd

  • Cannot Access EM Oracle 10gAS 10.1.3

    Hi
    We are facing issue when logging to console of 10g Application Server Control. When we hit the url it is asking for username and password.
    Intially, we tried using oc4jadmin as username and password, but didnt worked.
    Secondly, we changed the oc4jadmin password in system-jazn-data.xml available at /appldev/inst/apps/DEV_oracleadmin/ora/10.1.3/j2ee/oafm/config and restarted the server. But on trying to login it is giving the error 401 Unauthorized.
    Thirdly, we were able to login using ias_admin user and secret password. but it then doesn't show anything. seems there no role assined to it.
    Could you please check for the issues, and let us know if any suggessions/workarounds.
    Regards

    Intially we tried to change password using ldapmodify command, it gave error message invalid credentials.
    Next we tried to change the password through ODSM console, in ODSM we could not find the user oc4jadmin.

  • ServerSession disconnects

    I am having a problem I need some help understanding.
    My application was developed with JDeveloper 10.1.3.3, JSF, ADF Faces, and Toplink, Session Facade EJB. The application is running on a Solaris 10 box and deployed with in OC4J (OAS 10gR3); it is clustered across 2 servers. the connection pool and data source are setup with OAS's default settings.
    We are using Loadrunner to help us determine maximum concurrent users for our application. The first test was with 5 concurrent users which ran flawlessly for over 20 minutes. The next was with 10 concurrent users; this test produces a nullpointerexception at approximately 9 users:

    The application makes a call to persistEntity and rthe ServerSession disconnects and reconnects before persstEntity returns, which is when this nullpointer happens.
    public Object persistEntity(Object entity) {
            UnitOfWork uow = getSessionFactory().acquireUnitOfWork();
            Object existingObject = uow.readObject(entity);
            if (existingObject != null)

            Object newInstance = uow.mergeClone(entity);
            uow.commit();

    If more information is needed, I can provide more of the logs or try to explain further.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for reply.
    Right now, I have no idea what might be causing the disconnects.
    The log file is actually littered with the disconnects/reconnects. They appear to be happening at randowm intervals. Here are a few of them.

    1. I have application that is was developed with JSF, ADF, Toplink, and is running on Solaris 10, 10gR2, using an external datasource provided by OAS 10gR3 oc4j. When we hit between 100-120 concurrent users, response times jump from less than 1 second to 45-80 seconds. The system-application.log is full of:

    2. This application resides inside a single sign on environment. The link to the application found in the users workspace page with in the sso. Once the link to the application is clicked, the application opens in a new browser and retrieves the sso username from the http header and queries the database to obtain user information/roles. If the log out button is pressed, a self.close() is called. Should the application be using session.invalidate()? Or should it be doing anything other than just the close browser?
    Could 1 and 2 be related?
    I appreciate any and all comments and/or recommendations. We would be extrmemly happy to get at least 250 concurrent users.
    Thanks.

  • JRE 1.3 , OAS & JDeveloper

    Is there any problem in using Java Runtime Environment ver. 1.3 on the client when building EJB clients with JDeveloper for OAS 4.0.8 ? If so is there some way to overcome these problems?
    null

    Currently the EJB CLient for OAS 4.x have to be based JDK 1.1.x to work.
    Note : OAS 4.x comes with JDK/JVM 1.1.x

  • UCM 10gR3 installation problem on Solaris

    Hi,
    I have a problem installing Oracle Content Server 10gR3. When I run the setup script:
    *$ cd <path>/UCM/ContentServer/solaris-x86/*
    *$ ./setup.sh*
    I get the following error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Installer
    I am running Solaris 10 on VirtualBox, and I have Oracle Database 10gR2 Installed. JDK 1.5.0_20 is installed with Solaris, but I have tried different JDK's, with no use.
    I tried setting the CLASSPATH environment variable to ".;/usr/jdk/latest/lib;/usr/jdk/latest/jre/lib", and running the script again, but I got the same result.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Performance with OAS 9i

    Has any body deployed forms, developed in Form6i, on Oracle Application Server 9i.
    Is there any performance improvement with OAS 9i as a new feature 'Form services' has been introduced?
    Is it now suitable for making big web enabled applications?

    You shouldn't need to worry about the installer as it uses the correct jre on it's CD. I just ran it from the kde command line ie: /mnt/cdrom/runInstaller.
    You don't need the database on the same machine, just set up iAS as a client to your database ie: set up TNSNAMES.
    That said, the installation of 9iAS always failed on my RH7 and I've had to crank the install files by hand. 8iAS never seemed to have the problems.

  • A simple EJB in OAS 4081

    We failthfully followed the procedure given in technet.oracle.com/products/jdev (JDeveloper 3.0 Technical Information - Developing and Deploying EJBs using JDeveloper 3.0 and running the deployed EJB from a client application) to create an EJB.
    We got the following error when we tried to run the client from JDeveloper.
    "D:\jdeveloper\java1.2\jre\bin\javaw.exe" -mx50m -classpath "D:\jdeveloper\myclasses;D:\jdeveloper\lib\ejbapi.jar;D:\jdeveloper\lib\oasoorb.jar;D:\jdeveloper\myprojects\jayEJBCl.jar;D:\jdeveloper\lib\jdev-rt.zip;D:\jdeveloper\jdbc\lib\oracl e8.1.5\classes111.zip;D:\jdeveloper\lib\connectionmanager.zip;D:\jdeveloper\lib\javax_ejb.zip;D:\jdeveloper\java1.2\jre\lib\rt.jar" jayEJB.jayEJBClient

    I don't know if this applies for you but this may help you:
    "I am running OAS on Windows NT, and my client hangs during the JNDI home interface lookup. What can I do ?
    If your OAS EJB client hangs, and then throws an exception similar to the one below during the JNDI home interface lookup, this is
    probably due to the fact that the java process in which your application is supposed to run cannot be started.

    You can verify that by looking at the wrb.log file (located in ows/admin/website40/log). It should report that it failed to get the cartridge for your
    application (yourAppName__) by a message similar to the one below:
    12-01-1999 09:43:10 0 plemouel-pc `RM Proxy` 301 0 0x1200fff `OWS-25010:
    Failed to get cartridge 'appPackage/__' for '360' times.
    If your EJB is deployed in OAS on NT, and you have installed the JDK 1.2, or JRE1.2 on your machine don't look further. Even if your path and
    classpath are set to use the correct 1.x JDK, OAS EJBs runtime uses the createProcess system command, which will cause the JDK1.2 JVM
    to be loaded. This version of the JVM is not supported at the moment by OAS.
    The reason behind this unfortunate behavior is twofold:
    When you install JDK 1.2, the java.exe executable is also copied in the Windows system32 directory.
    The system command we are using (createProcess) to start the JVM looks there first (MS design) before looking in the PATH
    environment variable.
    Therefore OAS tries to start your EJB application in JDK1.2 JVM, which is not supported at the moment.
    We will fix this problem, but in the meantime, if you need to have the JDK1.2 on the same machine as your OAS installation. You will need to
    edit the wrb.app (this file is located in directory ows\admin\website40\wrb) file after deploying your EJB.
    In the wrb.app file look for:
    [APPLICATION.myAppName]
    where myAppName is the name of your EJB application. Below this tag, you should have the following line:
    ExecString = javaw -mx64M oracle.oas.container.Main
    Edit this line to add the javaw path. This should look something like this:
    ExecString = c:\orant\ows\4.0\jdk\bin\javaw -mx64M oracle.oas.container.Main
    Save the wrb.app file and then reload OAS.
    If you have not installed the JDK1.2 or JRE1.2, your EJB has probably been deployed incorrectly. Check in directory
    ows/apps/ejb/yourAppName to make sure that the following three files are present: _application.jar; _client.jar; and _server.jar."
