OAS 10R2 image copy migration

Hi All,
We have applications with Oracle forms and reports and connecting to an Oracle database. The OAS version used for this is OAS10gR2 on a Server with Solaris 9 OS. we are planning to upgrade to Solaris 10 version. i would like to know the following :
1. If we perform a live upgrade from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10 on the existing server, will there be a need to reinstall OAS on the server? Also will there be a need to recompile and install all the fmb and mmb files? (will the existing fmx still work with OAS after upgrade of OS without any modification?)
2. If we perform an image copy of the existing server (Solaris 9, OAS 10R2 and fmx, mmx etc) onto a new server hardware and then do a live upgrade of the OS on new h/w to Solaris 10, will there be a need to reinstall the OAS? and will there be a need to compile the form and reports to have new executable?
The current server is a physical dedicated server and we are planning to retain the same architecture after migration as well.
Thanks in advance!

Hi GN!
I would think that copying the files will not be enough, as the DCM will not have the information about the deployed applications. Just redeploy them and it should waok as well as on the original server.

  • Illustrator image copy/paste onto the Indesign the text should automatically converted into image?

    Hi All,
    Is there options to get the image copy & paste into the Indesign, if i done manually the frames and lines stroke, colors, are coming fine, but the text object only converted the image. i want to edit text  in indesign.
    this is possible for scripting or manual?
    regards
    CSM_PHIL

    You can copy/paste from Illy to ID by selecting the text with the type tool in Illy and then pasting it into ID. You will not be able to maintain the formatting. If you want to maintain the appearance the text will be converted to outlines.
    If you need to get anything other than very simple objects from Illy to ID then you should save as AI and use the file > place command to place those objects as linked graphics into ID.
    Your closing statement is irrelevant. Whether you like it or not, this is the way it is.

  • Is it possible to rollback image copy backup?

    Hi,
    I have got an image copy with a tag which I apply incremental backups everyday. The image copy is rolled forward everyday.

    EmrahHi Emrah and welcome to the forum!
    I don't think that you can roll back image copies because each time the whole image copy is changed with new records and I haven't seen such option

    I downloaded the zip file and then extracted it on a windows 2000 server.

    Could be a problem with windows 8.3 filenames. Does it
    work if you pass dd the "short" filename associated with
    S28DCA0301? (The explorer properties dialog should list
    the MS-DOS "short" filename).

  • Application that allows to paste images copied from the web..

    hey guys.
    im looking for an application that allows to paste images copied from the web..
    ive tried a few but they only paste the next... anyone help?
    cheers.

    im assuming paste them on your phone to use as wallpaper etc?? if that's all you want to do, you don't need an app for that... when you find an image you like touch and hold for 3 or 4 sec. a dialogue box will appear asking you if you want to save the image, email it, etc... select save and it will appear in its own folder under photos as "saved images or photos"...
    hope it help

  • Disable image copy in iOS for fixed layout ePub iBooks

    Hello,
    Is there XHTML code to disable image copy in a fixed layout ePub file made for iBooks? I have an ePub in iBooks that I created myself manually, but when a user clicks on an image, using an iPad for example, a "copy" option comes up and is distracting.  I would like to disable this so that when a user touches an image the "copy" option does not come up. But I would still like the user to be able to pinch and zoom on the image.
    Thanks!

    Thanks again Steve and Bill
    My interest in embedding videos was largely to minimize the final file size and amount of space used on each person's device.  I ended up following your advice about using Adobe Media Encoder to minimize the size of each slideshow but it still increased the final ePub from 65 MB to over 200 MB.  And that was with video quality that was far inferior from what I could offer through an embed or, my final solution, a link out to my website.
    I happen to be of the same thought as Bill that most people are now connected to the internet and would favor a smaller file with access to online content over a very large file.  I would have liked to embed the videos and allow 720p quality inside the ePub over the link I ended up settling for.

  • Image copy

    I've seen this question asked but have not found the answer. I'm trying to perform an image copy (restore) via disk utility and get the following error about 1/2 hour into the restore "Restore Failed. An error (2) occured while copying. (No such file or directory) I'm trying to backup to a WD external hard drive.
    Any help in resolving would be most helpful

    If the disc works on my computer doesn't that rule out that it could be the quality of the disc? I am sure Toast is a good program, but I don't think I will be burning a lot of things and I would think that the burning application should work that comes with the computer. Am I wrong on this? I am a casual burner.
    Another thing that I thought it might be was the format of the disc. The format for the DVD is Mac OS Extended. When I click on the DVD icon the img file does not show a format but it does say NDIF image under "kind". When I click on the img file the white rectangle ejectable thing pops up and that file format is Universal Disk Format. Could this be causing any problem or is this normal?
    I'm trying a "tv type DVD player" tonight. Thanks.

  • New Grid Installation & Copy/Migration Of Existing Jobs From Old Grid

    Existing Setup:*
    EM Grid Control: 10.2.0.2 Hosted on Windows 2003
    Repository Database: 10.2.0.3 Hosted on AIX 5.1
    Agent: 10.2.0.2
    Monitored Databases/servers: About 90 servers/databases are monitored which are on AIX and having 10g DB version and agant installed in 10.2.0.2
    Proposed Setup:_
    EM Grid Control: 10.2.0.5 Will be hosted on AIX 6.1
    Repository Database: 10.2.0.4 Will be hosted on AIX 6.1 (different server from EM Grid control server)
    Agent: 10.2.0.5
    Monitored Databases/servers: All the existing servers + Oracle E-business Application
    We are planing to install a new grid with option of installing with existing database(New 10.2.0.4 database will be installed). Once new grid start working properly, we will stop old grid.
    During this process we don't want to stop/modify/change the existing grid jobs..
    So, My questions are:
    1) Can we have two agents (both with different OS users and having different AGENT_HOMES) on each server, which will feed to different grids? Old one will be stopped eventually.
    2) How we can copy/migrate existing jobs from old grid to new grid ?

    Can you point me towards any document or link for same.
    Any idea for copy/migration of jobs from old grid to new grid....

    ---- When you the existing database option , new repository will be created with user SYSMAN.
    So, My questions are:
    1) Can we have two agents (both with different OS users and having different AGENT_HOMES) on each server, which will feed to different grids? Old one will be stopped eventually.--- You have two different agents home on each server as source to different grids.
    2) How we can copy/migrate existing jobs from old grid to new grid ?--- You can clone the database and use the cloned database jobs for your new grid. Even cloned database can be used for your new grid.

  • Can we take rman backup image copy to multiple location

    Hi All,
    We are planing to move database from old storage to new storage on the same server.
    planing to use RMAN image copy to copy the db files from old storage to new storage and then switch database to copy.
    Currently dbfiles are on /u01, /u02, /u03, /u04 and we are planing to move to new storage /u05, /u06/, /u07
    Is there any way that i can copy all the dbfiles to /u05,/u06,/u07
    Backup as copy database format '/u05
    As i know i can move to single location. Is there any way copy to multiple location using image copy.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks

    Hi
    I will try the below command.
    BACKUP AS COPY
      DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT ('/u01/..','/u05/...','/u02/...,','/u06/..')
    database;
    I believe this will work.
    Thanks

  • RECOVER IMAGE COPY WITH INCRMENTAL BACKUP

    dear all
    i want to know what this comand do
    recover copy of datafile 4 with tag ' ';
    is this when take backup copy to datafile and i have incremental backup
    when corruption occurs i write this command
    instead of restore and recovery only this command is make the restore and applay incremental backup ???
    MANY THANKS

    there are some recovery scenarios.
    1- If you lost all datafiles
    SQL> startup mount;
    RMAN> restore database;
    RMAN> recover database;
    SQL> alter database open;
    2- if you lost a tablespace
    SQL> alter tablespace users offline;
    RMAN> restore tablespace users;
    RMAN> recover tablespace users;
    SQL> alter tablespace users online;
    if you can not offline tablespace then
    $ sqlplus “/ as sysdba”
    SQL> shutdown abort;
    SQL> startup mount;
    $ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
    RMAN> restore tablespace users;
    RMAN> recover tablespace users;
    SQL> alter database open;
    3- if you lost a datafile
    SQL> alter database datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf' offline;
    RMAN> restore datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf'
    RMAN> recover datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf'
    SQL> alter database datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf' online;
    if you cannot offline datafile then
    $ sqlplus “/ as sysdba”
    SQL> shutdown abort;
    SQL> startup mount;
    $ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
    RMAN> restore datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf';
    RMAN> recover datafile '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf';
    SQL> alter database open;
    4- if you lost your controlfile
    $ sqlplus “/ as sysdba”
    SQL> shutdown abort;
    SQL> startup nomount;
    $ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
    RMAN> set dbid = 3970640872;
    RMAN> restore controlfile;
    SQL> alter database mount;
    SQL> alter database open;
    you will receive an error ORA-01589 when you open database
    ORA-01589: must use RESETLOGS or NORESETLOGS option for database open
    In this situation you must do;
    SQL> shutdown abort;
    SQL> startup mount;
    $ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
    RMAN> recover database;
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
    RMAN> reset database;
    if you open database with resetlogs, SCN number will be zero. In this situation all previous backups will be invalid. You must full backup.
    5- May be a special situation. You need to incomplete recovery.
    A. Time-Based incomplete recovery;
    $ sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
    SQL> shutdown abort;
    SQL> startup mount;
    $ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
    RMAN> restore database until time "to_date('06/05/11 12:0:00','DD/MM/YY HH24:MI:SS')";
    RMAN> recover database until time "to_date('06/05/11 12:0:00','DD/MM/YY HH24:MI:SS')";
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
    B. SCN-Based incomplete recovery;
    $ sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
    SQL> shutdown abort;
    SQL> startup mount;
    $ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
    RMAN> restore database until scn 1000;
    RMAN> recover database until scn 1000;
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
    C. archive log sequence based incomplete recovery;
    $ sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
    SQL> shutdown abort;
    SQL> startup mount;
    $ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
    RMAN> restore database until sequence 9923;
    RMAN> recover database until sequence 9923;
    SQL> alter database open resetlogs;
    6- if you need some archive logs in your backup
    $ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
    RMAN> restore ARCHIVELOG FROM TIME 'SYSDATE-1' UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE';
    Or
    RMAN> restore ARCHIVELOG FROM TIME "to_date('07/11/05 00:00:01','MM/DD/YY HH24:MI:SS')
    UNTIL TIME 'SYSDATE';
    7- if your data block is corrupted you will receive an error below.
    Hata:
    ORA-01578: ORACLE data block corrupted (file # 8, block # 13)
    ORA-01110: data file 8: '/oracle/oradata/users.dbf'
    for recover data block;
    $ rman target / catalog_user/ catalog_user_password@catalogdb
    RMAN>blockrecover datafile 8 block 13;
    For Block-Level Media Recovery - Concept & Example (Doc ID 144911.1)
    8- if you have a image copy backup and your datafile number 2 has problems then you can switch datafile number2 to image copy.
    RMAN>sql ‘alter database datafile 2 offline’;
    RMAN>switch datafile 2 to copy;
    RMAN>recover datafile 2;
    RMAN>sql ‘alter database datafile 2 online’;

  • IR 2318 copy extra image copy

    Canon IR 2318 copy extra image copy
    see the picture copy output ,
    I need  this solution answer soon
    thank you! support gus

    I tried this and had a problem.
    I saved a copy of my backup folder (~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/1d3af5c1...0adc00f68e43) to an external hard drive.
    A month later, I wanted to restore from the backup I saved on my external drive. So I  copied the old saved backup folder back to ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup
    When I go to iTunes and choose "Restore Backup...", the backup does not appear in the list. Only the most recent backup is there.
    The question is: How do I get iTunes to see the backup I have saved???
    Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

  • Migrate from image, copy image to harddrive

    Hi,
    I had to send in my macbook. I backed up the whole harddrive (74gb) on an external harddrive using the disk utilities (saved it as a dmg file). Question is now, how to get that on my new machine.

    Hi Daniel,
    Welcome to the discussions.
    Go back to Disk Utility
    Select your hard disk and click Restore (last tab)
    Choose the location of the diskimage at Source
    Drag the disk you want to restore to Destination
    Click Restore
    That's it

  • Image or Migrate from external HD

    I need to setup over 30 macs in the next few weeks and i want the easiest way to do it.
    i have an external HD with "User" folder on it.... can Migration Assistance on boot up see this and migrate from HD? or do I have to do a full install of Leopard on that HD first?
    second, what about a disk image... what's the best method.
    i need to keep this image updated constantly and distribute to new units we get.
    all of the will have same user name, password and network settings.
    thank you

    A server is only needed if you want to do network installs.
    Migration Assistant is intended for moving user folders not entire system installs.
    Yes, you can simply clone a default system to an external drive and then clone that system to each of the computers. You can use SuperDuper, Carbon Copy Cloner, Disk Utility, or any other utility that can create bootable clones.
    As I suggested, however, you should visit Mike Bombich's site. Lots of useful information and tools for what you want to do.
