  • Org/apache/log4j/Category on OAS 10.1.3 and Jdev 10.1.3.5

    Hi,
    I am new to ADF and my company is also new to ADF. We are doing how it coudl help us in acclerating the development of custom screens on top of OTM 5.5
    I am using OAS 10.1.3. I am getting org/apache/log4j/Category error at the time of deployment causing road block. Plz help...
    Below are the steps I followed
    1. Stopped OAS
    2. Install ADF Installer 10.1.3.5 by extracting files, changing adfinstaller.properties, and running java -jar runinstaller.jar adfinstaller.properties
    3. Started OAS
    4. OAS never started up as server.xml had an new entry
         <application name="datatags" path="../../../BC4J/redist/datatags.ear" start="true" />
         <import-shared-library name="oracle.ws.jaxrpc"/>
    5. datatags directory was malformed in the sense META-INF/application.xml and other .xml file was not created at all.
    6. Since ADF requires only libraries to be available, I removed this 2 enteries and started up the OAS.
    7. Started the OAS
    8. Copied files from
    [$Jdeveloper Home]\jakarta-taglibs
    to
    [$OC4J Home]\BC4J\lib
    the files are:
    commons-digester.jar
    commons-logging.jar
    commons-collections.jar
    9. Download and copy apache-log4j-1.2.15 (log4j-1.2.15.jar) to [$OC4J Home]\BC4J\lib
    10. I created a simpel ADF Helloworld page.
    11.Created a deployment discriptor orion-application and added the following enteries
    <imported-shared-libraries>
    <remove-inherited name="apache.commons.logging"></remove-inherited>
    </imported-shared-libraries>
    12. I right clicked on my UserInterface ->New-> Deployment profile -> Created a WAR file
    13. Right click the WAR file and deployed to the OAS
    14. I got the following deployment error

    ADF 11g requires JEE 5.0 server.
    Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 supports J2EE 1.4.
    JDeveloper 11g application won't run on OAS 10.1.3.

    Hi. I was able to install these three products into an NT machine. And I got it to work. I used the static_jinit.html instead of the demojini.html, this file comes with the Jinitiator install(this will be installed with Developer 6. I had to download the latest installation documents from metalink.oracle.com(Developer 6.0 and Oracle 8i) and www.olab.com(OAS 4.0.8). It is important that you get and read these documents first, the documentation that comes with the CDs is not up-to-date. Basically here are the steps that I did, these are based on the documents that I got from the websites:
    1. Install Developer 6.0 first. Be sure to install it in the DEFAULT ORACLE_HOME(path is usually c:\orant).
    2. Install Oracle 8i. Give it a diff. ORACLE_HOME(e.g. ora8i, path = c:\orant\ora8i).
    3. Install OAS 4.0.8. Give it a diff ORACLE_HOME(e.g. oas408, path = c:\oas408). If you're using NT4 be sure to use SP5.
    After installing these three test to see if you could deploy your web apps. I used the static implementation, I haven't tried the cartridge implementation yet. If is still doesn't work download and install the latest Developer 6.0 patch from metalink. I had to do this extra step to finally make it work(I guess we have a defective Developer 6.0 CD). I am also using Netscape 4.0.5, I still can't make it work with Explorer 4.0, I think it will only work if you use Explorer 5.0.

  • Deploying applet to OAS 4.0.8.1

    I have made simple applet using the Wizard in JDeveloper 3.0. I have used the Deployment wizard to make a Jar file. I also included
    the swingall.jar. The Jar file is generated successfully. I then copy
    the jar file and the html file to the OAS 4.0.8.1. But when I try to run
    it I get the following error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/swing/JApplet
    Anyone?

    Sounds like you might still be having swing problems. Insure that you are using the java plugin from Sun and that the swingall.jar is included in the ARCIHVE tag before running the HTML converter (from Sun) on the HTML file. Then stage the converted HTML file on the webserver and have all of the deployment archives included in the CODEBASE directory.

    [demo oracle test10]$Your DB is not able to archive a logfile, because of no more space in FLASHBACK area. If you have enough space on disk you can increase the value of DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE parameter, if not you should take one of other actions above to reduce occupied space in directory identified by DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST parameter.
    Anyway, you should periodically clean up the flashback area in some way.

  • OAS v10.1.2.3 REP-51018: Need database user authentication

    Hi all,
    I have an Forms/Reports 10g application, and when I call a report, I always get the "REP-51018: Need database user authentication" when using IE8.   It works fine with version 19, 20 and 21 of Firefox.   As IE8 is the corporate browser, calling reports need to work within IE8.
    First, some pertinent information:
    Server:
    - Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with SP2
    - OAS v10.1.2.0.2 upgraded to v10.1.2.3
               => Of note, reports did work with JInitiator on v10.1.2.0.2, but for several reasons, we need to move to v10.1.2.3 and use JPI.
    - Server is a VM created by VMWare.
    Client:
    - Windows XP Pro v2002 with SP3 (moving to Windows 7 soon)
    - IE8
    - Firefox (for developers)
    I have applied several ideas from several threads within this forums and documentation from other sites (Oracle being one of them), but to no avail. Here is a list of a couple of them that were pertinent to my problem:
    need java been frmrwinteg.jar (especially the sections from Francois Degrelle and Steve Cosner)
    10.1.2.3 problem with frmrwinteg.jar
    Upgrade to patchset 3 10.1.2.3 from 10.1.2.0.2 causes Java errors (I have used this thread to fix the Java issues that I had initially)

    It is getting very frustrating!  I have performed this same upgrade, on different platforms, between 10 and 12 times with no issues what-so-ever!  The strange part is that, for this upgrade (that I'm having difficulties with), I needed to sign the frmwebutil.jar and frmrwinteg.jar files; I never needed to do this for the other upgrades, except for the jacob.jar file, of course!
    From the formsweb.cfg file, here is the configuration area that I'm using:

  • Oracle8i EE (8.1.5) vs. Oracle OAS (4.0.7)

    I have a "Oracle JDeveloper Suite 2.0 Free 30-Day Evaluation
    Copy for Window NT" CD set which I am testing to see if we could
    use it as out Enterprise Java Bean server platform.
    I have earlier tried Oracle 8 (NOT i) and OAS 4.? but had big
    problems with deploying my EJBs so another EJB server was used
    instead. But due to customer demands I am now again looking at
    the Oracle products.
    On my evaluation CD set are the following products
    - Oracle JDeveloper 2.0
    - Oracle Application Server (4.0.7)
    - Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (8.1.5)
    I started by installing JDeveloper on my WinNT machine and tried
    to use the deployment wizard to connect to a Oracle8i on a
    Solaris machine, but could not get it to work.
    The JDeveloper Deployment wizard can deploy EJBs to Oracle8i,
    does this mean that the OAS is obsolete from 8i and up ?
    Is the Oracle JServer included in 8i the new OAS or should I
    install both 8i EE (8.1.5) and OAS (4.0.7) to be able to install
    EJBs ?
    The old OAS 4 in knew from the old oracle 8 had an web based
    admin tool for deploying EJBs in form of jar archives ? how
    should that be done in the new (OAS or JServer depending on what
    is what) ?
    How do I deploy a bean without using JDeveloper ?

    : Is the Oracle JServer included in 8i the new OAS or should I
    : install both 8i EE (8.1.5) and OAS (4.0.7) to be able to
    : install EJBs ?
    There is an EJB container in the 8i database. This has nothing to
    do with a web server.
    : How do I deploy a bean without using JDeveloper ?
    If you mean "How do i deploy a bean into 8i without JDeveloper"
    the answer is that you use the deployejb command from a shell
    prompt. I think most of your questions about 8i could be answered
    by refering to the "Enterprise Java BeANS and CORBA Developers
    Guide" which is part of the 8i documentation.

  • Deploying Applets on OAS (urgent help needed)

    I have installed and Configured OAS 4.0.7.1 on Win Nt Server ( SP5)
    I have created a very simple Java Applet using JDeveloper 1.1 and followed the deployment method as specified in the Work book (Student Work book).
    I have modified the source to add the ARCHIVE line.Using the Deployment Wizard I have created the archive file (.jar).
    I have the Java class files and the archive file in the same directory.
    I have added a HTTP Listener with port 90 and set the Directory for Virtual path corresponding to the directory where the java class files and archive files are available.
    Now when I enter the URL for the invoking HTML file from the Browser the Applet seems to be loading but it doesn't. The error message at the bottom of the Applet(looks like the Applet Window):
    load: <packagename>.<classname> cannot be instaniated.
    Please help me to resolve the problem at the earliest.
    Thanks
    Thiru

    Marcosk2,
    I am still having problems.
    kindly tell me the steps in detail.
    what i have done is:
    1.i have a simple applet (with frame) with a button.
    2. I have edited the html file and included the following:
    CODEBASE="imtac" -the virtual directory name
    ARCHIVE = "carclas.zip"
    3.with Deployment Wizard I have created the zip file (carclass.zip);
    Whe I run the Applet (in JD1.1) it is not running as it is looking for the path (imtac) but if i remove the virtual path (imtac) then the applet runs. You asked me to include the virtual path name in the CODEBASE parameter.
    Please do let me know in steps so that i too can deploy the applets in the WEB.
    It will be of great help even if u give me your telephone no with country code and area code so that I could talk to u and make things workable here. ( i am in Oman).
    I have to give a demo tomorrow.
    Thanks

  • JSP + AppModule to OAS

    Hello.
    I have created a JSP Application Project and and Application Module that I run on JDeveloper's built-in JVM. I have a connection to an Oracle 7.3.4 database nearby. Now I wish to deploy both the Application Module and the JSP project to the OAS I have setup on my computer.
    How do I do this?
    I've used some pre-built Oracle Web Beans and I've created some myself that calls methods on the AppModule. I use code similar to the one below to call my method.
    rs = getRowSet();
    ViewObject vo = rs.getViewObject();
    TimePackage.TimeViewImpl theView = (TimePackage.TimeViewImpl) vo;
    this.time = theView.getTime();
    Question is if this will work after deployment and will the pre-built web beans work?
    When you create the JSP Application Project, you can only choose wether the AppModule is deployed as a stored procedure on Oracle 8i or not. But I want it on my OAS... ;)
    Please help...

    There are two parts to the deployment of a BC4J JSP Web App: the deployment of the BC4J application module, and the deployment of the JSP Web Application client.
    With OAS, you can deploy your Bc4J application module as an EJB Session Bean, or you can deploy it locally. Both methods are documented in the online help system. Local mode is the easiest way to go. For an EJB Session Bean, only OAS 4.0.8.2 is supported with JDev 3.1.
    Before you deploy your BC4J JSP web application, make sure that the ConnectMode setting in your applicationmodule.properties file is set to match the deployment method you chose for your BC4J app module. This setting in this file determines how the JSP app talks to the BC4J app module.
    So, if you will deploy your BC4J app module locally to the web server, then you want:
    ConnectMode=Local
    If you decide to deploy your BC4J app module as an EJB session Bean to OAS, then you want:
    ConnectMode=EJB
    If you want to deploy in local mode, just create a simple archive for your BC4J project that contains all the .class, and .xml files, the .jpx file and connection.properties.
    For your JSP web app, follow the instructions in the online help. When you put everything on the webserver, make sure the path to the BC4J project .jar file and all of the supporting archives is in the classpath for the webserver.
    The JSP files, cascading style sheets, and images should be in your webserver doc root.

    Andrew, thanks for sharing your experience.
    I am under the impression that it should be ok to compiling on XP and then deploying on Solaris if the same jdk version is used, although it does sound better to do compile and deploy on the same server.

  • Configuration section in OAS console

    Hi experts,
    I have installed OAS 10g on my XP PC where I already have Oracle 10DB and 10g DS installed. Now I am in appl deployment process, when I open AS control console to do...
    2.Create a configuration section in the Forms Web Configuration page of Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Application Server Control Console so that Oracle Application Server Forms Services can access your application module.
    I can't find any any web configuration page, pls help me how to get that page to create a new config section?
    I have installed the default option for Oracle AS i,e Middle tier.
    Rgds

    hi,
    According to my understanding,ur tryin to deloy an application(forms and reports on OAS 10g) rite??
    If yes, then follow the below steps
    $ORACLE_HOME/forms/server
    create a new enviroment file(for eg fd.env) using the default.env as follows and make the following FORM_PATH and REPORTS_PATH changes in the fd.env
    FORMS_PATH=/oraApp/Ora_bi/forms:/oraApp/backup_29_11_2010_0.12/fd/pll:/oraApp/backup_29_11_2010_0.12/fd/forms
    REPORTS_PATH=/oraApp/backup_29_11_2010_0.12/fd/reports
    similarily create another env file (eg appr.env) and make the above changes in it.
    Now add the below lines in formsweb.cfg
    for example:
    [fd]
    envFile=fd.env(new env file created)
    form=fd.fmx(login form)
    lookandfeel=oracle
    separateFrame=true
    userid=xyz/xyz@xyzlive(username/pasword@tnsalias)
    splashscreen=NO
    logo=NO
    background=NO
    color=automatic
    render=yes
    archive=frmall.jar
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,frmwebutil.jar,jacob.jar,icons.jar
    imagebase=codebase
    term=frmpcweb.res
    baseHTML=webutilbase.htm
    baseHTMLjinitiator=webutiljini.htm
    now try accesing your application through below link
    http://ip address:7778/forms/frmservlet?config=fd
    set ur ORACLE_HOME as well PATH,LIBRARY
    If you require any other help then do let me know
    Regards

  • EM 12c doesn't discover OAS targets

    Hi everyone,
    I've added 2 agents in my recently configured EM12c. Both of them have an Oracle Application Server with the same applications running in it (they are just a mirror for some operations). For some reason EM only recognize the OAS in one of the agents but totally ignores the targets in the other one, and they are just the same thing!! The only thing it discovers is the agent (that was installed and deployed correctly) and the oracle home inside of it, but no sign of the rest of the applications running.
    I've tried all the manually add targets options inside the console and also tried with the instructions in this link How to Troubleshoot OEM 12c Cloud Control Auto-Discovery. However I'm running out of ideas, if you have any guidance it will be appreciated.
    Néstor

    Well, after giving the correct permissions to the folder the em pointed ($ORACLE_HOME/opmn) I tried the discovering again and it doesn't work. I'm new with oracle and its environment so I'm not quite sure if I'm looking for the correct logs but here is some output I found interesting from the oas host.
