OAS 4.0.8.1 Listener www fails on Linux

Hi people,
I've installed Oracle Application Server 4.0.8.1 on Slackware 7.0 e I don't achieve to start the www listener. It seems to be that the user that owns the application server don't have enoght privileges to initialize the listener.
Does anybody kwnows what's happening?
Thanks for attention,

I have OAS 4.0.8.1 succefully running on 4 Linux boxes, 6.1 and 6.2.
All of them display the same message during startup. The ip address 0.0.0.0 in the message is normal.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Do you have Oracle 8i installed on the SAME MACHINE as 4.0.8.1?

    Hi,
When I try to start the OAS listeners I get the following messages:
Information: Listening on NORM port 80 address 0.0.0.0
Information: wriorProcessInit: RMProxy IOR Bootstrap Service initialized
    Information: Adapter services initialized successfully
    Information: The server started successfully
Server now running as process 1714
OWS-08850: Oracle Web Listener 'www' started.
The problem is that the listener is started on address 0.0.0.0, which is obviously not the correct address.
    Does anyone have any suggestions
    Thanks

  • How to Start oracle web listener 'www'

I was able to start 'admin' listener successfully. However I am not able to start the www listener. It gives the message of "Unable to startup Oracle Web Listener 'www' and "Check NT Event log".
the NT Event Log says "The description for Event in Source Oracle_Web_Listener could not be found. It contains the following insertion string: A failure occured. (Address is already in use)When assigning a port (and then it gave me the domain name and port).
Please advise on how I should start the www listener. Thanks

  • Listener keeps failing when using Veritas Cluster Control 3.5

    Hello -
During that past 4 months, my Listener has failed on 3 different occasions. The Veritas software attempts to test and see if the Listener is up, and then it issues a kill command. I end up with the TNS-12560 error in the sqlnet.log. The only way to resolve the issue is to stop and restard the Listener. Is anyone out there running Oracle 8.1.7.4 on Solaris 64 with Veritas Cluster 3.5?
I also added the queuesize=1024 to the Listener.ora file about 5 months ago.
    Thanks.

ok so i experimented a little with the hardware and here what i have to the moment:
    1. i thought that the usb kb could be the case for mac os to crash so i disconnected the cable from the KVM and plugged normal apple kb to the mac.
    2. however when i tried switching back to mac, the machine crashed again.
from what i noticed for the last few days 'working' with this kvm switch was the screen resolution changing while i was switching. meaning the screen flickered for couple of times prior to showing 1280x1024 that was set up in the system. during flickering the resoution became 1024x768. i 've seen it pretty clearly, just it was for half of a second.
also when powering up both machines, they were starting with 1024x768 and not 1280x1024 as was set up. i had to manually change the screen resolution on both machines (pc and mac) every time after successful start up.
so by far my understanding is that kvm switch forces monitor for 1024x768 during switches and on start up. it also causes the OSes (win2K and MacOSX) to lose 1280x1024 and accept 1024x768 as if the monitor was changed and couldn't operate at a higher resolution.
having said that i uploaded this info to kvm mfg (ATEN) and couple more mac forums so that this info may help someone else when ordering a kvm for mac. at the same time i am still open for any thoughts, advices and crazy ideas to get round this bug.

  • Can I Install OAS 10.1.3.1 32 bit on Redhat Linux 64 bit ?

    Hi all,
Can I Install OAS 10.1.3.1 32 bit on Redhat Linux ES 4 (64 bit) ?
    Thank you for your help,

I am sure, this is possible.
I wouldn't advice you to waist resources with 32-bit software on your 64-bit OS, but if you want to, you can.

I have no other insight into why this is failing.  This same build file works just fine on both Mac/Windows and I'm creating native installers for those operating systems that work.  Why is it failing on Linux?

After some more playing, I was able to get it to work with the latest versions of Ubuntu, Flex SDK, AIR SDK and the Sun JDK:
    - Ubuntu 10.10
    - Sun JDK 1.6.0.23
    - Flex SDK 4.1.0
    - AIR SDK 2.5.0
Strangely, I think this is the same config I had before when it wasn't working. However, this time I made it a point to install the Sun JDK manually, rather than via a DEB or other installer.
Here are links to all of the Linux packages I used:
    Java SE 6 Update 23 > jdk-6u23-linux-i586.bin (Direct download from Sun/Oracle)
Flex SDK 4.1.0 > flex_sdk_4.1.0.16076.zip (Direct download from Adobe)
AIR SDK 2.5.0 > AdobeAIRDSDK.tbz2 (Direct download from Adobe)
Let me know if you have any questions. I'm happy to help.

  • OAS 4.0.8 http listener problems

I am running OAS 4.0.8 on NT w/ SP5. I followed the instructions for install in the latest (Jan 2000) release notes. The problem I am having is with the listeners. The admin and www default listeners start up fine, but if I create a new listener, it will not start up. The error message tells me to check the NT Event log but there is nothing there. Also there is no svwww.err file available to check because it never starts!
I am completely lost on this one. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

Try to use root for startup. Remember that port bellow 1024 is protected for root only.

  • OAS 4.0.7.1 - Listener file locking on NT

    Hello,
Currently we're setting up OAS 4.0.7.1 on an NT box, and have come across issues which we don't have on Unix.
Does the Spyglass HTTP listener lock ALL the files defined within the listener directories?
Also, is there anyway of getting 4.0.8.1 downloaded from any site other than technet - with such a large file, we've failed three times to download it after 96Mb each time! What about olab? How can I gain access to the password protected download?
    thanks
    David Godfrey
    [email protected]

What you need to check is a field that is set in your listener. Open the listener in question, open the Server branch, then check on the setting for "File Caching". If this is set to "ON", WindowsNT will grab the file and keep it open all the time.
Once you change the setting, you will have to stop and re-start your listener.
As far as a download of 4.0.8.1, I would suggest getting in contact with Oracle directly and having them send you an eval copy. We've run into the same problem.
    Best of luck!

  • Stand alone APEX listener install fails with timezone region  not found

    Hi,
I have searched the forum but found only a thread for the installation with Goldfish.
I am very new to all this so I apologise if my problem is too simple, but please help as I am very frustrated with it.
I have a 10.2.0.4 database on Windows XP for testing with.
I installed APEX into it successfully, then down loaded the listener.
I have to Java installations, one under my Oracle Home, the other under Middleware where I have JDeveloper installed.
If I try $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin/java -jar apex.war it throws a Unsupported class version so I tried with the Middleware jdk and it appeared to install.
I then went to http://localhost:8080/apex/listenerConfigure and entered the password for APEX_PUBLIC_USER and the info for a basic connection, it fails with the following message
Request could not be processed due to error:
    Sat Apr 30 00:06:30 CAT 2011
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-01882: timezone region not found
Please if anyone can help me through asap this I would be most grateful

    Yay, I found the solution:
    I started by running:
    begin
    for v_rec in (select tzname,tz_offset(tzname) v_offset from v$timezone_names
    where tzabbrev='CAT') loop
    dbms_output.put_line('tzname '||v_rec.tzname||', offset '|| v_rec.v_offset);
    end loop;
    end;
    SQL> /
    tzname Africa/Khartoum, offset +03:00
    tzname Africa/Windhoek, offset +01:00
    tzname America/Anchorage, offset -08:00
    tzname US/Alaska, offset -08:00
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
I then added -Duser.timezone="+01:00" before the apex.war ie
    java –jar -Duser.timezone="+01:00" apex.war

  • Configuration of Password Sync & JMS Listener in fail over in SUN IDM 7.1

    HI All,
We are having a set up with IDM running on two Sun application servers pointed to single repository. Sun webserver Reverse Proxy has configured for load balancing.
We have configured JMS Listener adapter for Password Sync and JMS Listener Sync is running on Instance1*
and I copied a copy of .bindings file from Instance1 to Instance2 (I doubt whether this is correct or not) by keeping in mind about load balancing with Reverse Proxy.
    Issue
Some times the JMS Listener Sync running on Instance1 is hanging (no polling is happening) and password changes are not happening. To make password changes happen, we are restarting Application server of Instance1 and with this some password are failing to synchronize.
I want to configure High availability or Failover to overcome the above issue.
[http://docs.sun.com/source/819-6123/IDM_admin_passwordsync.html#wp25192] not having any detailed steps to configure failover.
    Please provide valuable suggestions
    Thanks In Advance

The problem appears to be machine account password changes that pass null or corrupted values. Machine accounts are like users, but the password change occur automatically between machine and DC so that the client can be a member of the domain.
We turned up the Password Sync logging were able to see the machine name that occurred before each event, and then researching those machines identified them as NT 4.0 workstations. It turns out that NT 4.0 machines cycle their password every 7 days, down to the second. To say that we were surprised to find these machines still on the network was an understatement.
Contact support for this issue. They have been working on a patch for this.

  • WLE simpapp listen address fail in Solaris8

After successfully installed WLE 5.1 in Solaris8 running simpapp
    got the error:
110813.teide!ISL.8398: ISNAT_CAT:1008: ERROR: Could not establish listening address on network //teide:2468
I've tested other ports as well.

In general, the memory for in-out parameters needs to be allocated
dynamically. The caller (i.e., your code) is responsible for allocating and
initializing the memory before passing the parameter. When the call returns,
the WLE library will de-allocate your memory and allocate memory for the object
being returned and change the pointer passed in to refer to that newly
allocated memory. Your code only needs to de-allocate what is in that pointer
once the call returns (and you are finished with the object); you should not
worry about the previously allocated memory as the WLE libraries have already
freed that for you (in accordance with the CORBA specification).
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

    Hi all,
In visual c++ client, I've a local object which is pass to WLE server.
The server will return the value to this local object. However, the local
object is therefore pointing to the memory address of server's output
object . So, in vc++ client, when program try to free memory of local
object. "Debug Assertion Failure" meesage is occur. _CtrlHeapPointerHeap is
always fail for this local object. And my program is dead.
Do U know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks!
