OAS 4.0.8.1 listener

Hi,
When I try to start the OAS listeners I get the following messages:
Information: Listening on NORM port 80 address 0.0.0.0
Information: wriorProcessInit: RMProxy IOR Bootstrap Service initialized
Information: Adapter services initialized successfully
Information: The server started successfully
Server now running as process 1714
OWS-08850: Oracle Web Listener 'www' started.
The problem is that the listener is started on address 0.0.0.0, which is obviously not the correct address.
Does anyone have any suggestions
Thanks
Rob

I have OAS 4.0.8.1 succefully running on 4 Linux boxes, 6.1 and 6.2.
All of them display the same message during startup. The ip address 0.0.0.0 in the message is normal.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
Do you have Oracle 8i installed on the SAME MACHINE as 4.0.8.1?
Thanks.

  • OAS 4.0.8 http listener problems

I am running OAS 4.0.8 on NT w/ SP5. I followed the instructions for install in the latest (Jan 2000) release notes. The problem I am having is with the listeners. The admin and www default listeners start up fine, but if I create a new listener, it will not start up. The error message tells me to check the NT Event log but there is nothing there. Also there is no svwww.err file available to check because it never starts!
I am completely lost on this one. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks

Try to use root for startup. Remember that port bellow 1024 is protected for root only.

  • OAS 4.0.7.1 - Listener file locking on NT

    Hello,
Currently we're setting up OAS 4.0.7.1 on an NT box, and have come across issues which we don't have on Unix.
Does the Spyglass HTTP listener lock ALL the files defined within the listener directories?
Also, is there anyway of getting 4.0.8.1 downloaded from any site other than technet - with such a large file, we've failed three times to download it after 96Mb each time! What about olab? How can I gain access to the password protected download?
    thanks

What you need to check is a field that is set in your listener. Open the listener in question, open the Server branch, then check on the setting for "File Caching". If this is set to "ON", WindowsNT will grab the file and keep it open all the time.
Once you change the setting, you will have to stop and re-start your listener.
As far as a download of 4.0.8.1, I would suggest getting in contact with Oracle directly and having them send you an eval copy. We've run into the same problem.
    Best of luck!

  • Help on Setting up Web Cache.

    Hi,
I need help for setting up OAS Web Cache, whether the following setup is correct. I’m new to this.
When I login to http://server2.domain.com:8300/appname1/, the display URL is changed to http://server2.domain.com:7778/appname1/. However there is no activity in the Web Cache Statistics.
We have OAS Web Cache standalone installed on one server using port 80 (e.g. server1.domain.com) and OAS Application Server (HTTP & J2EE) installed on another server using port 7777 (e.g. server2.domain.com).
Currently, when our user login to the application, they use the following URLs:
    http://server2.domain.com:8300/appname1/
    http://server2.domain.com:19000/appname2/
I have setup OAS Web Cache as follows:
    Listen Ports:
         Cache Name: server1.domain.com-WebCache
         IP Address: ANY
         Port: 7778
    Origin Servers:

as mentioned above, All that you need is a optical cable (a toslink) and that will provide you with the 5.1 sound output. BUT and this is important, the Game or Movie must support 5.1 for you to get 5.1 sound (not a lot of Mac games have 5.1 output) also you will need to ensure that you setup the right settings on your sound Preference panel. You dont need any additional boxes or cables as long as your 5.1 speaker system accepts 5.1 audio via digital toslink (eg optical cable). the z5500 is suitable and will give you 5.1 sound if used with a game or movie that has 5.1 sound output.
Good luck and enjoy the sound

  • REP-3000 Error Message

I have install Web Reports Server 6i on Solaris 2.8 x_86 platform and i hav configure its above documentation. I can start it under OAS 4.0.7 web listener. Then, if i want to create the test report on the web, i receive an error message:
REP-3000: Internal error starting Oracle Toolkit.
Tell me please, what can i do.

You may be right. But in this case i don't know another plase, there nls-support (*.nlb) files are may be installd. In my $ORACLE_HOME there are no directory, naming like datad2k. I think, that Developer 2k use nls-support files from base nls directory, because i install if after RDBMS, but after installation of Developer 2k in the list of installed products i so, that it content the 8.0.6 NLS-Support Files and Libraris. I in the firm belief that it is not RDBMS files, becouse the version of RDBMS is 8.0.5.
It meens, that the cause of REP-3000 error is other. If you know some more about it, tell me please.

  • OAS 4.0.8.1 + Apache web listener

    Help!
I'm not having all the problems running OAS 4.0.8.1 on Redhat 6.1 that everyone else is (my processes stay up and it's significantly faster than 4.0.7.1 on RH 5.2). But what I'd really like to do is dump Oracle's Spyglass web listeners and run Apache instead. This includes all cartridges and such as well as standard HTML. I'm mostly interested in the PL/SQL cartridge, but all working would be nice.
This can be done by compiling Apache specially with MOD_SO support and registering Apache as a listener. The very sketchy directions are in the docs under the Administration section. The directions are very poor (thank you again Oracle, we wouldn't want you to actually write good docs, it would spoil us for the years of terrible documentation) and I can't quite get it to work. I get Apache compiled and the shared objects libraries load, I think.
When I start Apache, it says it starts but it really doesn't. Dies immediately and doesn't show up on the process list. The error logs shows the following message:
(111)Connection refused: OAS Adapter: Error connecting to dispatcher
This is a major issue for me and any help would be appreciated. Anyone had any luck getting this to work?
    Thanks!

    Dear jgerry,
Congrats on getting Apache compiled. I am new to all of this, and the documentation is poor. The way I understand the documentation on www.olab.com, libapadp.so must be linked into Apache. Is this true? If so, I would love to know how to recompile it. I have downloaded and unzipped/untared 1.3.12, but I can't find out how to just link in a .so file. The only references I see are how to start out with a .c file. I have fould libapadp.so and ndwfapd.so in the Oracle install. I thought that just doing "LoadModule ows_module ndwfapd.so" would do the trick if I put ndwfapd.so and libapadp.so in the modules subdir of my Apache 1.3.9 installation, but I get the message...
"Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/ndwfapd.so into server: libapadp.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
Do you have any ideas to help me over this hurdle.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • OAS 4.0.8 and HTTP Listener Configuration

I have installed the enterprise version of OAS 4.0.8 on both NT 4.0 sp5 and Solaris 2.6 with the appropriate patches as specified in documentation.
On both installs I have the same problem with the http listener. If I select any of the property pages under a listener I get the error message "Page contains no data ..."
The listeners are up and running and I can get to the administrative http listener at 8889 via a browser.

  • OAS , Http listener , Netscape Enterprise Server, SSL

    Hi All,
We are planning to implement SSL 3.0 on OAS Pl/SQL cartridge.
We will be configuring Netscape Enterprise server as the hhtp
    listener.
I have a couple of questions.
    1. Can the Netscape Enterprise server(NES) be on a different
machine and can we configure it to be a listener for the OAS?
    2. When NES is the listener , should we get a digital
certificate for NES or OAS by using genreq(for SSL
implementation)? Which certificate should be installed?
Is it enuf if the NES alone has a certificate?
Please respond as soon as possible.
Thanx a lot for any help given

to create one more test instance without enableing
Cylink PrivateWire security software. And test it out

  • Apache Listener on OAS 4.08

i can't install and run apache properly as a third-party listener on oas 4.08. Apache seems to start, but the red-flag indicates that it isn't running.
what should i do with libapadp.so? docs say i should link it when i build apache. how do i do that?

    Hello.
I've got the same problem, this is how far I've gotten:
    [root@thor conf]# httpd
[Thu Aug 24 22:58:11 2000] [warn] Loaded DSO modules/ndwfapd.so uses plain Apache 1.3 API, this module might crash under EAPI! (please recompile it with -DEAPI)
    [root@thor conf]#
I've figured that I must recompile apache with:
    ./configure prefix=/path/to/install/apache enable-rule=SHARED_CORE
What about extra modules that come with the standard Mdk rpm? What switches is the mandrake rpm compiled with?
I'm too worried about wrecking my apache installation.
    Basically my question is:
How do I recompile and get apache working with the least differentiation from the standard mdk rpm that came with Mandrake 7.1 but including support for my additional module (for Oracle Application Server)?
    C.

  • Oas 10gr2 can't be started: ons.log shows local listener terminated

Hello all. I have the following problem
When I try to start the oas infrastructure (we are using 10g release 2), I got the following error:
    */oas/product/10.1.2/opmn/logs>opmnctl startall*
opmnctl: starting opmn and all managed processes...
    opmnctl: opmn start failed

This is similar to what others have reported about problems with listener binding, but this problem cannot be found in Metalink because it says the BIND can't assign requested address.
I have the suspict this is a problem with the hostname or something because the ONS is trying to bind to 127.0.0.0... strange...

  • OAS listener

I have OAS 4.0.6 on NT.
Does anyone know what type of entry I need to make in
TNSNAMES.ORA to allow the reports server to start ?
I am getting the "expected" error REP-0186, but am not sure
exactly what it means. Port Number maybe ? Isn't that meant to
refer to the listener on the server ?
    Any help gratefully received

If your listener is listening on port 80
you do not need to include :80 on your url.
To find your index.html by default specify
it as your initial file for the listener
    under the listener server section
    HTTP Listeners
    <listener name>
    Server => Initial File index.html
I assume you are using OAS 4.0
