OAS 4.0.8.1 on NT ("PANIC" message when starting OAS)
[This is a reply to the message from HUNTERTJ entitled "OAS 4.0.8.1 on NT", because OTN won't accept a direct reply to the original message]
I had a similar "PANIC" error starting OAS on NT Workstation. I asked Oracle for help, and the fix they gave me was to set up a TCP/IP Loopback Adapter (under a different hardware profile) and use this profile when running OAS. I did this, and re-installed OAS just to be sure, and it now seems to work. No idea why.
Good luck!

Hi !!!
I installed OAS 4.0.8.1 on Windows NT Server 4.0 with Service Pack 5 (June 1999).
I have a Oracle Database installed at the same machine (8.0.4 EE) because I installed OAS at other ORACLE_HOME. I follow the steps (workaround) showed at the document "Latest Oracle Application Server Release Notes. January 2000".
Hence, I created other user administrator for OAS and I put the entries for OAS at the User Path for this admin.
The system Path contains the entries for the database.
But, when I try to raise the process from OAS Manager, it happends the next:
Please wait while the command is being processed on host vnt05 ...

waiting for ORB to be ready...
The command completed successfully on host vnt05.

Powerbook G4, old but loved, panic message when reinstalling original OS
I have an old but functioning Powerbook G4 15 inch Firewire 800, with Tiger installed. It came with pre-installed Panther, of which I still have the three disks. I tried to reinstall the original system and went as far as the first installation disk. Everything went fine until the end when I got a grey screen, with a power off symbol in the middle and a long series of codes and numbers starting with:
Panic (cpu): Unable to find driver for this platform “Powerbook 5.2”
And ending with:
Panic: we are hanging here.
I tried reinserti the disk, all the other disks, powering without disk and in safe mode but with no success, all I get is that.
Looking at the installation disks it actually says “upgrade”, but that’s all it came with the Powerbook.
Any idea of what went wrong?
CristinaReading through your topic thread, the PowerBook G4 with FW800 would be circa 2003.
You can download MacTracker from their site: http://mactracker.ca for detailed info on
most every Apple product with specs and system info. To use this, you'd need to know
the build model, based on Apple sources.
PowerBook G4 Computers: How to Identify Different Models
The PowerBook G4 5.1 and 5.2 are somewhat similar; if you were to search by serial
number or find other correct identifiers on the computer, so as to match the OS X version
and original grey label DVD install-restore set (through resellers online) the correct disc
set part numbers could be located. Pesky details...
Identify Your Mac - Powerbook Medic
PowerBook G4 Technical Specs - EveryMac.com
The computer would otherwise be able to use Leopard 10.5.8 from a lesser retail version
of 10.5, and there still is a download update to 10.5.8. Other parts not on a retail DVD
would be found on other discs you could buy. The iLife, AppleWorks or earlier iWorks,
and others may still be found through online vendors, auctions, or maybe if you contact
Apple User Groups in your area, or check out moving sales, college/school rummage sale
or university clearance of old hardware, some of these may still include old retail full install
versions of OS X and Apple software that won't work on the newer Intel-based Mac.
You may have to look into online resellers to see if any have the retail label Leopard 10.5
DVD install disc. Amazon resellers may have these on occasion, but they are rare now.
There used to be a time a few years ago, when you could have contacted Apple support
and paid a reasonable fee for a white-label "replacement Leopard 10.5 DVD" that covered
the older hardware versions, they offered (also, quietly) a similar "replacement Tiger 10.4"
white label full install DVD. Both of these were a hit & miss affair to see if they had any,
if you happened to contact someone at Apple sales support or applecare who knew they
may exist and knew to also look. They were under $20 each, direct from Apple and not
available in the online store. Some independent Authorized Apple service providers used
to have a complete set of system and technical discs; some of them could burn you a copy.
But not anymore. Most people don't want to touch the older models, on the retail side.
Hopefully you can find a clean retail copy of the Leopard 10.5 DVD, there also was a source
online to download an Apple Hardware Test for certain models that used to come with one
on their original install-restore disc media, when new.
If nothing else, there are some now-discontinued MacBooks (circa 2006 to 2010) out there.
Faster, intel, and they can run Snow Leopard 10.6+ & still some older PPC applications.
Good luck & happy computing! -

I have an article here for you that will help you troubleshoot this issue with kernel panics:
OS X: About kernel panics
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3742
See the section toward the bottom of the article labeled “Troubleshooting a recurring kernel panic,” but keep in mind this statement in that section:
Diagnosing a recurring kernel panic can be difficult. If you would like to avoid this process, or do not know how to perform any of the following steps, consider bringing the Mac to a Genius at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for assistance. Be sure to ask that, if the drive needs reformatting or replacing, they contact you about escalating your case to a special data recovery service. If you plan to visit an Apple Retail store, make a reservation at the Genius Bar using http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/ (available in some countries only).
Thanks for coming to the Apple Support Communities!
Cheers,

Kernel Panic right after start up on my PowerBook G4
I get the standard kernel panic message quite frequently after I start up my PowerBook. I have used the Disk Utility (software), and the Hardware Utility to check the system hardware, and both say all is well.
I would appreciate any ideas on how to fix this.
Thanks,
ShawnWell, the "erase and install" feature should do the trick. That does essentially what I was thinking by having you format the drive. No other tricks needed, just update as soon as you're done using the latest combo updater available for your OS version via the software update option in the apple menu.
Happy installing! -
I'm getting the kernal panic screen when I put in DVD
My iMac G5, 2 GB has been slow, and occasionally getting the "restart your computer" screen. I ran the Apple Hardware Test on it twice. It passed both times, so I decided it must be software. I proceeded to do a clean install of the OS. Now I'm getting the Kernal Panic screen just as the computer recognizes the disk and is about to launch the installer. I've been reading the forums on Kernal Panic. Could be RAM memory. But could it also be the optical drive if its slow to spin at first?
What info on the "Panic" screen would tell me where the problem is?

Your title is a little confusing; are you getting the message ONLY when you put a DVD in, or does it also happen when starting the computer up?
If it's the DVD, is it the OS DVD? Are you sure you are using a PPC DVD and not an Intel DVD? I recall the same panic screen on my own G5 1st gen when I mixed up my Intel DVD with my PPC DVD.
The first line of your panic (panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002DEC28): Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerMac12.1") was very similar to mine, except mine had "panic(cpu 0 caller 0x002DEC28): Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerMac8.2" -

Kernel Panic Message...Caused by new RAM???
Hey guys, just purchased 2x1gb ram from otherworldcomputing.com for my powerbook G4, im currently running the latest version I can possibly run which is 10.5.8 Everything seemed great when I put the RAM in, seemed like my computer was running pretty fast campared to the 512gb that came with the computer. All of a sudden, while im searching the web, it throws that kernel panic message up at me. I restarted and a few minutes later while im still on the web, bam, the same message.
I am currently in safe mode while Im writing this and nothing has happened yet(update:a few mintues after I finished typing this thread I received the same message, I have turned the computer off and jumped on my wiftes computer to type this I am thinking about putting the original 512mg ram back in to see if I get the message again)
Wierd, the first few days witht the new RAM everything seemed fine and then all of a sudden I got those messages. I have never had the problem ever before so it makes sense that its gotta be the new RAM right? Here are my specs

Crashed Thread: 0To eliminate RAM being the problem, Look at this link: Testing RAM @ http://guides.macrumors.com/Testing_RAM Then download & use Memtest & Ramber.
Do you have an Apple Hardware Test disc (the AHT is on the Install/Restore DVD that came with your Mac)? Running the Apple Hardware Test in Loop Mode is an excellent troubleshooting step for finding intermittent hardware problems. It is especially useful when troubleshooting intermittent kernel panics. If Loop Mode is supported by the version of the Apple Hardware Test you are using, you run the Extended Test in Loop Mode by pressing Control-L before starting the test. Looping On should appear in the right window. Then click the Extended Test button. The test will run continuously until a problem is found. If a problem is found, the test will cease to loop, indicating the problem it found. If the test fails, be sure to write down the exact message associated with the failure. In some cases, RAM problems did not show up until nearly 40 loops, so give it a good run.
Cheers, Tom -

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
What is causing these Youtube-related kernel panic messages?
I receive Kernel Panic messages while I watch videos on youtube. I have seen this problem cited in other forums, but I have been unable to find the solution. I am aware that it is not the site itself that is causing the problem. I can watch other videos and use video editing software without incidence, but youtube videos always cause the kernel panic after watching about a dozen (or sometimes fewer) videos.
Below is a copy of the kernel panic report for your information. I'm looking forward to finding the solution to this.
Thanks in advance,
Requina

Is this happening for all Flash content or just your website? Can you give us a link so we can take a look? Can you also please post back with your system's configuration report?

Mac Instructions
Please check to see if you are using the NPAPI version of the Flash Player plugin in Chrome. Let me know if you need instructions on how to do this. If you are, please try switching back to the PPAPI version to see if that corrects the problem.
I'm moving this post over to the Flash Player beta forum.
Thanks,

Hello all,
I tried to restore my sytem from a time machine back up and the install seemed to be successful and at the end it told me I needed to restart my computer,
I restarted it and it gave my a Kernal Panic Message, this is the log
