OAS 4.0.8.1/Redhat 6.2? WRKSF problem
Hi, I've installed OAS 4.0.8.1 on Redhat 6.2 but when I start the processes up the WRKSF goes down after a few seconds, I've seen a previous posting on this subject had a workaround proposed by Dennis Irwin which seemed to work for many people, unfortunately it didn't for me, I've spoken to Oracle about this problem but all they say is OAS 4.0.8.1 isn't supported for the 2.2.14 kernel in Redhat 6.2, 4.0.8.2 will be but they can't say when it will be released, until then OAS is basically useless for me, has anyone any suggestions?. Thanks, Geoff

According to ORACLE representatives, OAS 4.0.8 isn't their major priority : since Oracle iAS will be available in few days, and many less CPY and memory hungry as OAS, can't you wait a bit longer ?
An other point is that oas 4.0.8.2 will probably be one on their last release of this product ...
Take a look at the oracle iAS white paper, the product will be more reliable and standard : essentialy based on Apache 1.3.12, mod_java, mod_pl and JServ 1.1, and Oracle 8i Cache...

OAS 4.0.8.1 - more wrksf problems?
Running OAS 4.0.8.1 on Redhat 6.1 (kernel 2.2.14-32)
There seems to be alot of discussion regarding the "wrksf" service in the latest release of OAS (4.0.8.1). I'm also having trouble getting the "Cartridge Service Factory" to start properly.
I use the OAS manager to start, with the following results:
Please wait while the command is being processed on host dev ...
Starting ORB process...
waiting for ORB to be ready...
The command completed successfully on host dev.
OWS-08821: oassrv process 'oassrv' is started up at pid 6326.
OWS-08820: Unable to start wrksf process '/usr/local/oracle/ows/4.0/bin/wrksf'.
Initialization Failure- Exiting OAS...
Execute STOP of all the OAS Processes from the OAS Manager
I get the same results if I attempt to start from the command line with owsctl:
Please wait while the command is being processed on host dev ...
Starting ORB process...

The command completed successfully on host dev.

I have used the OAS 4.0.7 on Redhat 5.2 successfully with very few problems, but we would like to be able to use OAS on Redhat 6.1.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, are there any know solutions or workarounds?
nullMy experience with wrksf, on Mandrake 7.0 (RH 6.1+) is that wrksf starts at first, then bails after about a second.
I have a couple cartridges installed, C and Perl, and it starts those cartridges up and then fails. I don't get the same error message that you do, but there is an error in the wrb.log:
`OWS-10911: Throwing exception for reason: wrkpGetProperty 2 `
`OWS-04793: Operation oracle_OAS_System_CartridgeServerFactory_create_nwreturns exception IDL:omg.org/CORBA/UNKNOWN:1.0 `
I'm not sure what this is all about, but it does start up my cartridges at first, because I specified a mininum number to start up initially, and a minimum number of instances.
They just don't come back if terminated, since wrksf isn't there.
BTW, this is the same error I encountered when, on NT, I compiled a c cartridge with Metroworks CodeWarrior instead of MS Visual C++ v6.0. So I wonder if this has something to do with compiler incompatibility, if wrksf was compiled with a different compiler from the rest of OAS. While compilers don't usually matter for C, they do for C++, and all binaries and libraries must be compiled with the same compiler/linker to work together.
Just a stab in the dark.

OAS 407 Build Error on RedHat 6.0
Hi All,
Furhter to my last post, can someone tell me if there is
something I am missing here. Below is the build error I get
when trying to build OAS407. I have RedHat 6.0 and I have made
sure I have the latest glibc installed, based on the notes for
the patch for oracle 8.0.5.1.
Any information would be hugely appreciated.
thanks

nullSorry, but officialy the OAS 4071 is not supported under RedHad 6
(because of the glibc 2.1). We ran into the same problems. Oracle
Support has no possibilities (in Germany) to build a version
which runs under glibc21. We shall wait to version 4.08.
I hope this will help you. Downgrade to RedHad 5.2 an it3s
running.
Greetings

I'm trying to redeploy an EJB onto the OAS, and I get the following error:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: D:\OraHome1\ows\4.0\..\apps\ejb\ChartBean\_client.jar (The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user mapped section open)

at oracle.oas.tools.util.CreateJars.main(Compiled Code)
Creation of client jar for D:\\OraHome1\\ows\\upload\\1219ChartBeanSource.jar failed!
I tried to go delete the client.jar file from the OAS machine, and it won't let me saying it is a sharing violation (File is in use). I deleted the EJB from the OAS, stopped the OAS, and still I cannot delete the client.jar file.
First, why couldn't I redeploy, and second, how do I delete the _client.jar file?
Thanks!

Not able to connect to DB in Redhat Linux - intermittent wired problem
Hi,
I need some help from you if possible please help me. There is a wired problem in the Linux based Oracle server.
OS: Redhat Linux 8
Database: Oracle Enterprise server 9.2
There is an intermittent wired problem.
After some time (it happen twice last Saturday and Yesterday), either from application or from SQL Plus we are not able to connect it from outside. But we are able to connect to the oracle server on Linux server.
We checked the Listener status on the server and it was UP and running.
We can ping the server from outside.
We are not able to do an FTP from inside the server or from Outside to the Linux server.
During this time the http protocol is working we can upload any file to the other sites.
We tried to shutdown the oracle server and even we tried to restart the OS itself and not able to resole this issue.
If we create a new Listener and starts the server and all blocking thing were released and now working.
Currently we are monitoring the server at ALIFs premises if it going to happen for the third time or not.
Thanks a lot
Regards
KumarWhat is the error that you get when you try to get connection ?
to check the log file is a good option: <ORACLE_HOME>/network/log/listener.log

CRS on Redhat 5 auto-start problem
Dear all
Recently I tried to install Oracle 10gR2 on Redhat 5. I did research and took all the necessary actions to install it on Redhat. Everything went well, according to the documents and at the end of the installation, all the resources were up and running. However, after the install, only the VIP was up and ONS and GSD was in unknown format. When I stop the nodeapps and start it again, everything stars working. It seems that the problem is something to do with boot process. I tried to put some delay ( for OCR mount ) but still no luck. This is the result from crsd.log from node1 when node2 is down.. :

I tired this solution it was on website “but it did not work”
下面是METALINK给出的解释:
I have checked the information provided. crsd is reporting timeouts when running the checking actions. The racgmain process on the other hand, executed by racgwrap, remain running so the number is increasing. This issue has been reported in Bug 7009245 ""RACGMAIN CHECK" PROCESS NOT TERMINATING", and drill down and determine the root cause this require to get a stack trace from racgmain process(es) as well as you should runOSWatcher with a specific parameters, finally the issue of Bug 7009245 has been fixed by the fix of Bug 6196746 (unpublished bug -- summary is "racgwrap spawns racgmain child process. crsd timeout kills racgwrap but bot racgmain")So please perform the following action plan that intend to solve the issue.
.ACTION PLAN
============
1. Stop CRS on this node.
2. Make a copy of racgwrap located under $ORACLE_HOME/bin and $CRS_HOME/bin
3. Edit the file racgwrap and modify the last 3 lines from:
.$ORACLE_HOME/bin/racgmain "$@"
status=$?
exit $status
.to:
.# Line added to test fix for Bug 6196746
exec $ORACLE_HOME/bin/racgmain "$@"
.4. Restart CRS and make sure that all the resources are startes
This should solve the issue. also if you are not able to stop CRS right now, you can try the
solution without crs stop/start.
BUT IT DID NOT WORK

OAS 4.0.8.1 : Windows 2000 Server : wrksf going down!!
Hi,
We have been facing this problem for quite some time now.
Please let me know, if Oracle has come out with a fix on this.
I found a fix for the Linux vesion of OAS 4.0.8.1, but could not find one for Windows.
How do I go about solving the following problem, which occurs time and again :
03-02-2001 00:44:36 778958 sandeep `Broker` 1892 1 0x10fff `OWS-04764: Unable to bring up cartridge server, type OASEJB, at sandeep. `
TIA
SandeepHi,
Sorry for the late reply.I was out of town!!
We am using OAS 4.0.8.1 on Windows 2000 Server.Although it is not Windows 2000 Certified, I thought, it might run, because Windows 2000 is Win NT extension.
The Oracle 8.1.5 DB , which is Certified for Windows NT, is running properly on our Windows 2000 installation
As regards RAM, we are running OAS on a ~320 (64 + 256)MB RAM system!
Also, noticed, when I run the client, I get InsufficientResourceException, along with the wkrsf going down in the OAS
Any help on this would be appreciated!!
TIA,
Sandeep
PS : Please let me know, if the following configuration might solve the problem :
Windows 2000 Server
OAS 4.0.8.2
Oracle (8.1.5) DB
Thanks,
Sandeep

java -version
I get:
java version "1.4.2_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_01-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_01-b06, mixed mode)
Can anyone help me to remove this old java freebie and then set the environment variables so that java works for any user logged in.
thanks
NareshFirst you need to uninstall java from the system. NOTE this can be done before or after the Sun install. To find the packages to uninstall use
rpm -qa | grep 'gcj\|java'Then use rpm -e to remove the packages.
For RedHat 9.0 (2003-09-03 disc1.iso) the following will remove java entirely. NOTE the order is important as the packages are interdependent.
rpm -e jdkgcj-0.2.3-5
rpm -e gcc-java-3.2.2-5
rpm -e libgcj-devel-3.2.2-5
rpm -e compat-gcc-java-7.3-2.96.118
rpm -e compat-libgcj-devel-7.3-2.96.118
rpm -e compat-libgcj-7.3-2.96.118Once this is done setup the env vars to find the Sun jdk. I prefer to create a file
/etc/profile.d/java.sh(and/or .csh if csh is your thing) as I feel this is cleaner than editing profiles directly. The contents should set up the JAVA_HOME and PATH. For example for the 1.4.2_01 release the following will work.
export JAVA_HOME="/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_01"
export JDK_HOME="$JAVA_HOME"
export JAVA_PATH="$JAVA_HOME"
export PATH="$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin"All info should really be part of the Sun docs.
