OAS 4.0.8.2 Installation

I am trying to install OAS 4.0.8.2 on an NT 4.0 sp6 box. As the installation tries to register the ORB resource file it hangs. I can stop the process and the installation will complete, but the OAS doesn't run properly. Any suggestions?

I was not able to install it in the first place.
I installed SP3 and it worked fine, I have installed it thrice after that, no problems
so may be service pack problem???

OAS 10.1.3.3 installation problem

I downloaded OAS 10.1.3.3 for Linux from the following address:
https://sac.us.oracle.com/pls/FTP/cdtable?Q_PLATFORM_SHORT_NAME=LINUX#MARKER33
i downloaded cd1 cd2 cd3
The installation process is diffrent from before such as 10.1.3.0. I chose http server and OC4J .the installation was successfully.
however,
1. the OC4J is not appeared in the following command
opmnctl status
only http server appears
2. if I run opmnctl startall, the OC4J doesn't start.
I have to go to %HOME%/bin folder to start OC4J.
3. there was installation options in 10.1.3.0 such as advance, basic... these are not show during installation of 10.1.3.3
looks like the OC4J is not integrated into OAS like in previouse release
could you please tell me if this been done by purpose or any configuration need to be done?

ORA-12537 TNS Connection closed after OAS 4.0.8.1 Installation

finally I was able to install and start OAS
on RH 6.1, but now I can not start Ora8i (with all patches) on my system. When I start svrmgrl, will get ora-12537 TNS Connection lost error.
Can someone please help!

Org/apache/log4j/Category on OAS 10.1.3 and Jdev 10.1.3.5

I am new to ADF and my company is also new to ADF. We are doing how it coudl help us in acclerating the development of custom screens on top of OTM 5.5
I am using OAS 10.1.3. I am getting org/apache/log4j/Category error at the time of deployment causing road block. Plz help...
Below are the steps I followed
1. Stopped OAS
2. Install ADF Installer 10.1.3.5 by extracting files, changing adfinstaller.properties, and running java -jar runinstaller.jar adfinstaller.properties
3. Started OAS
4. OAS never started up as server.xml had an new entry
<application name="datatags" path="../../../BC4J/redist/datatags.ear" start="true" />
<import-shared-library name="oracle.ws.jaxrpc"/>
5. datatags directory was malformed in the sense META-INF/application.xml and other .xml file was not created at all.
6. Since ADF requires only libraries to be available, I removed this 2 enteries and started up the OAS.
7. Started the OAS
8. Copied files from
[$Jdeveloper Home]\jakarta-taglibs
to
[$OC4J Home]\BC4J\lib
the files are:
commons-digester.jar
commons-logging.jar
commons-collections.jar
9. Download and copy apache-log4j-1.2.15 (log4j-1.2.15.jar) to [$OC4J Home]\BC4J\lib
10. I created a simpel ADF Helloworld page.
11.Created a deployment discriptor orion-application and added the following enteries
<imported-shared-libraries>
<remove-inherited name="apache.commons.logging"></remove-inherited>
</imported-shared-libraries>
12. I right clicked on my UserInterface ->New-> Deployment profile -> Created a WAR file
13. Right click the WAR file and deployed to the OAS
14. I got the following deployment error

ADF 11g requires JEE 5.0 server.
Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 supports J2EE 1.4.
JDeveloper 11g application won't run on OAS 10.1.3.

oas is smooth.. for doing cartridge implementation of forms on
web i create an application, and a cartridge as specified in
documentation (oracle dev 6.0 beta). but there seems to be no
start button for the application. as a result i have the status
for the application as down allways.
when i press shift and click on reload button, the save as
dialog pops up .. please suggest something ...
the platform is windows nt 4.0 with sp3

The catridge need not to be started. When you run samples
attached with the catridges, you can see the status of
the catridge as running.

Oracle RMS 13.1 installation

Hi gurus,
am new to oracle RMS.can you provide me the basic installation architecture.
as far as i concerned,
1.initially,oracle database software (without database) installed with oretail user.
2.then after staging rms13dbschema.zip,db is created using the scripts crdb1.sql,crdb2.sql,crdb3.sql.
3.then tablespace ,schema creation etc scripts have to be run as per the document.
then the batch and application server installation goes on.
am i correct regarding the database server i.e. initially,database software alone installed without database.

Kind of:
-Install Oracle Software with oracle user
-You have two options in creating the database, you can look at the scripts and mimic them by running dbca which is a wizard or run them and create it by hand with the modified scripts.
-The user/schema can be created with any tool or by running the script you mention
-The install.sh script will create the schema contents
-The batch installer is another install.sh but you will run it with the oretail OS user, instead of oracle; not because is needed but because is "better"
-The apps installer is another install.sh can be in the same server or a different one but you have to have the ORACLE_HOME and PATH variables pointing to a OAS 10.1.2.3 installation instead of the 11g DB Oracle Home like you had in schema and batch installers.
All of these are in each Installer Guide, so, just follow it.

Should I do AIA on OAS or WebLogic?

A product-related kind of question on the AIA product:
I see that the Installation Instructions for AIA 2.4 come with full details for OAS (OC4J) while the WebLogic installation instructions are totally missing from the Installation Guide.
As a result a newcomer to the AIA product (who is free on choosing any App Server, and at the same time is not very knowledgable on performing "workaround installations") would most likely give priority in choosing the OC4J server for his AIA installation.
On the other hand, my understanding was that choosing the WebLogic server is more advantageous in terms of its superior capabilities and the emphasis that Oracle is giving to it for long-term supportability, etc.
Thus, this is why I'm having this dilemma and I thought of bringing it up to this forum for some helpful insight:
1. If I had the option of starting a totally new AIA environment today, should I choose it to run on OAS (OC4J) or on WebLogic app server?
2. Does the absense of WebLogic server AIA installation instructions in the AIA Installation Guide relays the message that AIA should preferrably be installed with OC4J? and if so, why WebLogic shouldn't be preferred?

Hi Alex,
1) AIA on OAS is easy to setup comparing to AIA on Weblogic
2) PIPs are available only for OC4J, So you can't use PIP if you did Weblogic setup.
My suggestion is, as you are new to AIA please go ahead with AIA on OAS setup.

Error while opening presentation services

Hi,
Currently we have a requirement that OBIEE be installed on a environment where we have OAS as the web application server. Before doing it on the environment, I decided to do the installation on the local system.
As per the process, first I installed the OAS 10g. During the installation process I have selected the option of 'Advanced Install' as I do not need the BPEL, ESB and others. In the Advanced installation, i have selected the installation type as
J2EE server and Web server (476 MB)
Installs and configures Oracle container for J2EE (OC4J), includes HTTP server with SSL support, Oracle Enterprise Manager Application server Control and the Oracle process Manager and Notification Server (OPMN).
Once I am done with the installation, then I installed OBIEE using 'Advanced Install' option and I have provided the path for the OAS.
Now when I try to launch the presentation services, I get the error that 'Page cannot be displayed'.
From the OAS, I tried to launch the console also and I get the same error.
Can anyone please let me know if I am missing anything like port configuration?

Urgent :- Unable to deploy EAR file in Oracle application server

Hello folks,
I am trying to deploy an application containing jsps and servlets
packaged into EAR using ant. However when am trying to do so by using
the Deploy EAR option in the Enterprise manager, it throws the
following error -
"Invalid J2EE application file specified - Jar file:
/var/tmp/jar47241.tmp is missing its standard xml descriptor located at
META-INF/ejb-jar.xml"
I suspect that something could be wrong with regards to the way the ear
file has been created.
Please if someone could pin point the problem and help me understand
the the above error message , it will be of great help to me and I d
really appreciate this.

I don't know if I need configure an especial option in the OAS in Linux, how I can load my ear file.
The OAS in windows was installed with oc4j options only, but the OAS in linux was full installation

This is the exactly text in the installations guides after read and install OAS 9.0.4 (the installation release notes would be integrates in the installation docuement...) in a cold failover cluster (I have installed a lot of things and I don't know what heaven they are for... I haven't seen any guide either in the CD or in documentation pages and all the links to administrator or user guides are broken... also would be great any guides about tunning OAS.
These are so strange things...??? All searchs like 'OracleAS administrator guide' return marketing results and white paper they are absolutly unuseful...

(two listeneres, two oracle homes, how....)
5.- And where are agents examples for Cold fail over cluster in a sun solaris???
I have spend 5 days and I still doesn't have anything just the database (which documentation is wonderful) Where could I find documentations so wonderful like you have for databases?? or oracleAS are beta releases???

Form did not open with webutil.

I am using Webutil for loading and uploading the files on local drive, it was running good through Oracle Application server on client side.
My Orcale Application Server Detail is given below: (Before Installing the Patch)
OS: Windows Server
Version: 10.2.0.2
But I have install the patch on appllication server but after installing this patch those forms in which I have used webutl did not open and hang up the whole applixcation.

This is due to the fact that the frmwebutil.jar used in a earlier version is not compiled against the new OAS 10.1.2.3 frmall.jar version. As a result this exception is thrown.
The solution to this is to extract the orginal complid “frmwebutil.jar” from the OAS 10.1.2.3 installation files and overwrite the frmwebutil.jar currently used. To extract the GOOD frmwebutil.jar browse threw the installation path towards this point “Disk1\stage\Patches\oracle.developer.forms.builder\10.1.2.3.0\1\DataFiles\”
Extract the this jar as followed :
$ORACLE_HOME\jdk\bin\jar xf webutil.2.2.jar frmwebutil.jar
Rename the frmwebutil.jar0 to frmwebutil.jar and overwrite the current version used which most likely can be found here “$ORACLE_HOME\forms\java”.
This solved the problem for me !
