OAS 9.0.4.x upgrade to OAS 10.1.2.x / Portal 10.1.4

We are upgrading OAS 9.0.4.2 with BI & Forms to OAS 10.1.2x / Portal 10.1.4 under Sun Solaris 9 (SPARC 64) and there is some confusion about Note:416942.1: sounds like we need to upgrade to terminal release 9.0.4.3 before migration. There are some notes about applying 10.1.2.2.0 patch set to 10.1.2.0.x installation. It comes from one of my SRs that Oracle is planning patch set 3 for OAS 10g r2 for this summer. Does anybody have a tested sequence of patches for SPARC to go from 9.0.4.2 to OAS 10.1.2x / Portal 10.1.4?
Any comments will be highly appreciated.
Michael

I installed OAS 4.0.8.1 on Windows NT Server 4.0 with Service Pack 5 (June 1999).
I have a Oracle Database installed at the same machine (8.0.4 EE) because I installed OAS at other ORACLE_HOME. I follow the steps (workaround) showed at the document "Latest Oracle Application Server Release Notes. January 2000".

  • Upgrade from OAS to weblogic server - Oracle reports impact

    Hi Team,
We have quite lot reports are created in oracle reports 10g and used in production environment. We have plan to upgrade systems and i would like to know the impact in reports which are created using oracle reports 10g.
    Currently, we are using
    Oracle Database 10g
    Oracle reports 10g
    OAS 10g
and we are planning to migrate to

Will my existing reports work in weblogic application server without any change? OR Do i need to change the existing reports.
Could somebody help me on this.
    Thanks,

Let me tell you, brother, it can be a real headache, starting with the upgrade process.
For example, I've Got x86 Solaris running on an old Dell box. Created a Boot Environment for my existing setup.
Now I'm trying to clone the Boot Environment so that I can do the Live Upgrade. However I'm getting an error when I use the lucreate command.

  • OAS v10.1.2 Ultra Search - Page Group Missing When Setting Up Portal Data

    Hi,
We're on version 10.1.2 but in the process of upgrading to 10.1.4.
In Ultra Search, when I try to set up a Portal Data Source, I can't see all the Page Groups in the portal. Is this somehow related to the ACL for the Page Group ... or individual pages? I can see most but not all, and specifically not the one I want.
    Any suggestions would be great!

I blundered onto the answer to my issue by trial and error.
When setting up the root page for a page group, if you wish it to be accessible to Ultra Search to be part of a Portal Data Source, you must ensure that the "Display Page To Public Users" check box is checked. The "Enable Item Level Security" checkbox can also be checked, e.g, they are not mutually exclusive.

  • PT 8.51 Upgrade - How to find duplicate keys for Portal Registry Structure?

I am upgrading peopletools for two applications (CRM 9.00 and FDM 9.00) from the 8.48.10 to 8.51.11 versions.
For CRM, Task 4-15-9 Completing the Peopletools Conversion ran app engine PTUPGCONVERT ran smoothly.
For FDM, I have the following error messages:
The Navigation Pagelet does not exist. Portal = EMPLOYEE. Object = PT_SC_PGT_MAIN_MENU. Collection = PT_PTPP_PORTAL_ROOT (219,2083)
    Message Set Number: 219

I checked table PSPRSMDEFN which does not have an entry for PT_SC_PGT_MAIN_MENU, under the Employee Portal. I tried to migrate the missing Portal Registry object using App Designer but again receive the "duplicate key" error.
So it seems that I have to find the duplicate key and resolve it before I can migrate the missing object.
Anyone know a quick way to figure out what the duplicate keys are?
    Thanks

I tried several things to find the duplicates with no success.
A couple of workarounds were attempted that resulted in the same "duplicate key" error, including:
    a) Re-copying file project PPLTLS84CUR
    b) Copy object 'PT_SC_PGT_MAIN_MENU" from Demo
After opening an SR, the successful workaround was to use Data Mover to export from Demo the "EMPLOYEE" portal entries for "PT_SC_PGT_MAIN_MENU" from tables PSPRSMDEFN, PSPRSMSYSATTR and PSPRSMSYSATTRVL. The import to the target upgrade environment was successful. A re-run of PTUPGCONVERT finished successfully.
The upgrade is progressing but where the duplicate keys are is still a mystery.
    Cheers

  • 2 OAS on the same server

we have installed a OAS 10.1.3.0 on Linux. is it posble to install OAS 10.1.3.3 on the same server, is there any confliction?
if it posible, how can I change the port number for the 2nd OAS? or will it detect the port have been used and choose diffrent port? how do I install the 2nd one, should I install another OAS 10.1.3.0 and apply patch on it to upgrade to OAS 10.1.3.3?

    Thank you for reply.
but I have 2 things need to be clearified:
    1. what's the purpose of "use the apache from 10.1.3.0 and use it to create oc4j mountpoints for your 10.1.3.3 installation"
    2. in cureent download ,the 10.1.3.3 is avalible as a patch, should I install the 2nd 10.1.3.0 and then do upgrading to 10.1.3.3?
    thanks

  • RHEL 4 64bit OAS 10.1.2.2.0 and PHP5

I am trying to support php5 with OAS 10.1.2.2.0 and am having a problem compiling php. Doing a normal compile of php results in a 64bit executable which does not work with Oracle apache as it is a 32 bit executable. I have tried compiling php using 'setarch i686' and having LD_LIBRARY_PATH pointing to only 32 bit library paths, but it will not compile at all under these conditions.
I get the following error when trying to compile as a 32 bit executable
relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
I have tried passing the -fPIC flag to gcc, but to no avail.

This is on a RedHat Linux 4 platform, so no yum. I have followed the steps on the oracle site, but this results in a 64bit php binary. The Apache binary that ships with OAS is 32 bit, so it won't load a 64bit php binary. The configure line is:
    ./configure with-apxs=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/apxs prefix=$ORACLE_HOME --with-config-file-path=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf
The steps I follow are as follows:
    1. linux32 bash
    2. export PERL5LIB=$ORACLE_HOME/perl/lib
    3. export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib:/lib/:/usr/lib/
    4. setarch i686 (to force gcc to think it is on a 32bit system and compile a 32bit php binary)
    5. ./configure with-apxs=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/bin/apxs prefix=$ORACLE_HOME --with-config-file-path=$ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/conf
I don't need the oci8 support as I don't need oracle db support. My requirement is simply to run php5 under OAS 10.1.2.2.0 I also cannot upgrade to OAS 10.1.3, as there are other OC4J's running that require 10.1.2.

  • Urgent: Form Compilation Error using frmcmp.sh on OAS 10.1.2, pls help..

    Hi All,
I am upgrading from OAS 9.0.4 to 10.1.2 where Forms 10g application is deployed.
When I try to recompile with frmcmp.sh :
    frmcmp.sh userid=system/oracle123@odb module_type=FORM module=menu1.fmb
    I get errors :
    Compiling Procedure GET_PATH...
    Compilation error on procedure GET_PATH:

    Identifier 'APPS_MENU1_DET' must be declared
    PL/SQL ERROR 0 at line 4, column 3
    SQL Statement ignored
    Compilation error have occured.
    Form not created
    What cause this error ?
FYI, on the above compilation I connect to different database/schema, not the one
which is used by the Form, is this the reason of th error ?
During compilation, Do I have to connect to the database/schema I used when develop the form ?
DO I have to create all tables in the schema first before compilation ?
    Tnank you for your hwlp,
    xtanto
PS. When I compile the same Form with F90genm.sh on OAS 9.0.4, NO ERROR.

From my experience it's a really bad idea to install OCS into a AS IM. When it comes to upgrades and patches you'll pull your hair out!
Why not install OCS first and then install the BI into the OCS AS server... I have not checked the certification matrix but that might be a better solution to look into.

  • Forms 10g, OAS and Web Services.... help!

    Hello,
We're in the middle of a project that was originally supposed to be a (simple :D) upgrade of an existing Forms 6i application to a Forms 10g application.
During the course of the project we have encountered various problems with the older forms (shakes fist at Headstart code...) and as a side effect have had to upgrade our OAS to 10.1.2.0 (10gR2). That's fine, however we have recently been looking into replacing the C++ code that the old application uses to connect to SAP with a new Web Services system, using the SAP Adapter and WSDLs and BPEL and all the rest of it (steep learning curve).
In setting that up it seems it would be advisable for us to upgrade to 10.1.3.x (or "get a headache" said Oracle Support...) However, I now read (in an article from July last year) that Forms and Reports are not supported in 10.1.3.x...
So, do we ask our DBAs to go ahead and install the SOA suite 10.1.3.x? And if so, do I need to do something else to support our !0gR2 forms? Or will they just work? Can we do a "clean" install of 10.1.3.x or do we upgrade the existing 10.1.2.0 system....? Colour me confused.
    Help!
    Thanks in advance
    Dan

You are correct, Forms 10gR2 is the latest and is not available on the 10.1.3 stack. I am also not sure if you are talking about writing web services or just consuming them. However you have 2 main options.
you can install 10.1.2 and use 10.1.2 for Forms and use 10.1.2 for your web services - this should work ok but of course you are "handicapped" by only being able to use 10.1.2 features of BPEL and WS.
Next option, you can install 10.1.2 for running Forms and run a separate 10.1.3 for running BPEL and SOA suite - nothing wrong with that. And if you write a web service and deploy to 10.1.3 you can call that from Forms.
Example of calling an external web service from Forms
    http://groundside.com/blog/GrantRonald?title=live_demo_of_sending_an_sms_from_forms&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/forms_modernization.html - calling a BPEL process is just like calling a web services

I see many people complaining about OWAS Performance.
I don't know the exact reason but my OWAS installation is

  • OAS is slow when accessing on same machine

I have OAS 4.0.8.1 installed on an NT machine (4.0 sp6) on our network. When it serves pages to a browser on the same machine the response time is very slow (5-6 seconds).
The pages that I'm accessing are fine. When using a browser on another machine on the network the response is less than one second.
Memory doesn't seem to be the problem (256MB).
I've also tried modifying the Hosts file in \\winnt\system32\drivers\etc, with seemingly no affect.
The database accessed by OAS is 8.1.5 on another NT.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Eric

Thought I would reply to my own post in case someone wants to know the answer.
We ended up solving the problem by upgrading to OAS 4.0.8.2. Oracle agreed that this was a bug in 4.0.8.1 and would have a patch available (sorry - don't have the number). Regardless, we found that upgrading was easier.
