OAS9i and Oracle8i(8.1.7) Any differences???

I installed OAS9i in my computer sucessfully. My computer had Oracle8i(8.1.7) on it several months ago. I looked through OAS9i from "Start/Programs/Oas9iHome", I found almost all functions of OAS9i are already included in Oracle8i(8.1.7)Server (like Http serer,...). I even want to uninstall OAS9i. Please tell me the differences. Thanks.

Oracle 8.1.7 includes the Oracle 8i Database and other apps like WorkFlow server, HTTP Server, etc.
Oracle 9iAS contains also HTTP Server and other servers such as iFS, Forms Server, Report Server, Discoverer Server, and Portal.
In order to use 9iAS you need 8.1.7 insalled without HTTP server.

  • What isoffline distribution and online distribution is there any difference

    Dear Guru's,
    What is offline distribution and online distribution is there any difference.
    Regards,
    Srinivasan.

    Hi Srinivasan
    with offline distribution, you can enable user with no connection to BPC to use BPC Reports and Inputschedules.
    This is very usefull if, for example, you have users that need to key in data but you dont want them to have access to the BPC System. In this case you can generate Inputschedules for different Entities, send them to the users and upload the files with the new figures nearly automatically (see Offline Distribution Wizard).
    "Online" means that the user has to log on to the System by Citrix/TerminalServer or local client and has to be defined in the BPC security.

  • Is there any way to stretch what was recorded as HD from the camera that became SD on FCE back to HD in the project. I have tried all settings and none seem to make any difference. Anamorphic doesn't seem to retain its setting when I set up a new sequenc.

    i am using FCE4

    yes, I recorded straight from camera to computer. The camera is a Sony HDRSR12 and it was set to wide screen it ran through a Canopus ADVC300 via firewire to the computer.
    I burnt some to DVD and if you set the TV screen on widescreen it looked great. But for those still with SD it will be skinny.
    So I am not sure how to get the footage into a widescreen format in a sequence as the anamorphic setting doesn't work for this footage.

  • The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus DO have differences

    I am considering entering the smart phone market, mainly for a portable camera to take on trips.  I have narrowed it down to the leading Samsung Galaxy S5 and one of the new iPhones - 6 or 6 Plus.  I spoke with an adviser on Live Chat and asked if there were any differences besides the sizes.  I was told "no."  However, when I visited ConsumerReports.org, their initial review mentioned two differences:  1) 326 ppi for the 6; 401 ppi for the 6 Plus, and 2) digital stabilization on the 6; optical stabilization on the 6 Plus.  Since I am considering a smart phone mainly for the camera and videos, this might prove to be important.  I am waiting to see the upcoming ratings and review from ConsumerReports.org.
    On this note, I would like to make a suggestion to anyone who is about to purchase a new electronics device, be it camera or computer.  Do not go by just what an adviser for the company tells you, but rather go to the retail store, see and handle the device yourself, and have it demonstrated and try it out, taking a few photos if it is a camera, and working with the keyboard and monitor if it is a computer.  (I know Apple has a wonderful retail department, and they are very patient and happy to answer all your questions and make sure you know how to use their products.)  I learned this lesson the hard way.  My PC Tower blanked out, and I was in a hurry to get a new computer, rather than having to lift the 50+ pound tower and take it to my independent dealer for repair (if possible).  I looked for the fastest way to get a computer, so I called Apple, and I purchased the computer over the phone and had it sent to my job.  The Apple Adviser was very patient and friendly and asked me questions about how I would use the computer.  Originally, I was asking for a MacBook Pro (for being able to carry it to a repair shop).  He suggested that I get an iMac 26(?), but when I told him I sit at a student desk, very close the the screen, he suggested the 21.5, which I purchased.  It arrived at my job in a nice box with a handle, and I was able to get it home and set it up, with help over the phone with an Apple technician, so that it was running with my router and my wireless printer.  The problem?  The monitor I am using as I write this at work - an old square framed flat screen - is easier on the eyes than the iMac 21.5's monitor - something I would have found out had I read the Consumer Reports ratings beforehand.
    On yet another note concerning the new iWatch:  If you live in New York City, don't even think about wearing it on the subway.  You may as well wear a sign, "Please Mug Me."

    "I found out another difference:  The battery is larger in the 6 Plus, thereby allowing more time for talking and standby.  I also discovered that they do not accommodate SIM cards.  Now, I have to ask if they can be used overseas."
    "Do not go by just what an adviser for the company tells you, but rather go to the retail store, see and handle the device yourself, and have it demonstrated and try it out, taking a few photos if it is a camera, and working with the keyboard and monitor if it is a computer."
    "On yet another note concerning the new iWatch:  If you live in New York City, don't even think about wearing it on the subway.  You may as well wear a sign, "Please Mug Me."
    I really don't want to sound rude but wow...just wow...

  • Is there any differences ?

    For jsp, what is the difference between [1] and [2] ?
    [1] and [2] , both can set the "books" to 3 .
    Please give me some advantages and disadvantages between [1] and [2] if there are any differences ? Thank you .
    [1]
    <jsp: useBean id="cart" class="shop.Cart" scope="session" />
    <jsp:setProperty name="cart" property="books" value="3" />[2]
    <%
    cart.setBooks("3");
    %>

    there is no difference. except that in [1] you are creating instance of the bean, and in [2] you assume that a cariable called cart exists.
    the idea idea is that [1] is suitable for web designers who know nothing about Java, whereas if you know Java then you might as well use [2].

  • Any difference between distinct and aggregate function in sql query cost???

    Hi,
    I have executed many sql stmts patterns- such as:
    a) using a single table
    b) using two tables, using simple joins or outer joins
    but i have not noticed any difference in sql stmts in cost and in execution plan....
    Anyway, my colleague insists on that using aggregate function is less costly compared to
    distinct....(something i have not confirmed, that's why i beleive that they are exactly the same...)
    For the above reffered 1st sql pattern.. we could for example use
    select distinct deptno
    from emp
    select count(*), deptno
    from emp
    group by deptno select distinct owner, object_type from all_objects
    select count(*), owner, object_type from all_objects
    group by owner, object_typeHave you found any difference between the two ever...????
    Note: I use Ora DB 10g v2.
    Thank you,
    Sim

    distinct and aggregate function are for different uses and may give same result but if u r using aggregate function to get distinct records, it will be expensive...

  • Is there any difference running W7Pro 64 bit and 32 bit for Adobe Acorbat 9 Pro Extended

    My primary system runs Windows 7 Pro 64 bit system. My other system runs a 32 bit system.  I would like to buy Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. Is there any difference with running it on either systems? Or will one version work on both the 64 bit and 32 bit systems.

    It would work on both systems, but you no longer can buy Acrobat 9...

  • Is any difference in the CDR output format of CUCM version 6.1.5 and 7.1.5?

    Hello,
    Customer has a CUCM 6.1.5 cluster which is getting upgraded to 7.1.5. currently the CUCM CDR is sent to a external system (performix) which generates required reports. I would like to know if there is any difference in the CDR output format of CUCM version 6.1.5 and 7.1.5/ its vital to confirm this prior to upgrade as the performix is managed by a different vendor.
    Please advise !
    Shahid

    You can review the CDR documentation here to find that out, most likely there might be some changes

  • JSF datatable - any difference with JSF 1.1 and JSF 1.2

    Hi All,
    In my project there are lot of Datatables, which retrieve data from the database and display it to the user. For each datatable, the columns are not fixed. I want to create some kind of component that can be reusable.
    It is basically a JSF portlet. Now i have to use RAD 6. RAD 6 supports only JSF1.1. I have to migrate this to RAD7 in the near future. Are there any differences between the Datatable in JSF 1.1 and JSF 1.2?
    I had this approach in mind.
    a) Create the datatable programmatically and put the contents to panelgrid. This way the jsp code will be minimized. Is it a good option.? Are the APIs same in both the versions?
    b) Is it possible to create a custom datatable which can take some key as input. Then based on the key the datatable can be populated with as many columns as desired.
    Please let me know if there are any other good options.
    ~Anitha.

    Hi guys,
    my code goes like this..
    for (int j = 0; j < size; j++) {
                   UIColumn column = new UIColumn();
                   dataTable.getChildren().add(column);
                   HtmlOutputText header = new HtmlOutputText();
                   header.setValue(periodHeader[j]);
                   column.setHeader(header);
                   HtmlOutputText output = new HtmlOutputText();
                   output.setValue(new Double(periodLiability[j]));
                   ValueBinding vb1 = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance()
                             .getApplication().createValueBinding(
                                       ("#{liability.periodLiability["+j+"]}"));
                   output.setValueBinding("value", vb1);
                   column.getChildren().add(output);
    this code gives me the number of headers i need. But, it doesnt render the columns. I have an array of Double (periodLiability) which stores few values of Double type. I want to show thesee values inthe dataTable Column.
    Please help me..

  • Is there any difference in oracle database and forms database

    i want to know is there any difference in oracle database and forms 6i database
    ,if i import some file through oracle database then same data will exist in forms database or not
    thanks

    Oracle Forms is a Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool not a database. With Forms, you connect to an Oracle database to query and display data from the database as well as insert new or update existing data. Consequently, if exists in the database - you should be able to display it in a Form.
