Screen saver won't start since Lion upgrade. Two different machines, same issue. Help

For anyone following this thread, I've found a solution to my problem. Turns out that a cute widget called FishTank appears to be the culprit. With it running in Dashboard (even when I don't see Dashboard) the Screensaver and Sleep functions don't work. I turned it off, not because I'm clever, just because I tired of it, and voilà, Screensaver and Sleep are now working. It can stay in my widgets list without any problem, it just can't be turned on. I'm going to delete it anyway, however.
Hope this points the way to solutions for some of the rest of you!
    Cheers!

  • HT204291 Since upgrading to iOS7, i have experienced issues with Airplay button missing

Since upgrading to iOS7, i have experienced issues with Airplay button missing from the control menu as well as in Spotify.  It is as if airplay is not runing.  A temp fix: Reboot of the ipad mini (Home button+standby) Is there anything permanent?
I have verified that my iPad mini and apple TV is up to date.
Airplay enabled, the network is connected with internet.
It is as if, airplay is a service that just stopped working and has to be restarted again via a reboot.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

I received an Keynote update notice on my Mac Air. I updated and now can not get into my saved keynote docs. I am being asked to upgrade again and purchase the upgrade. Anyone else having this issue?

Try this repair, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1  delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote, use Appcleaner from Mac Update to           do this, its freeware
2  restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3  immediately after the start chime,  press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
let it fully boot up,  it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4  when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive  then First Aid tab and           click  repair disc permissions
5  when complete, restart the Mac normally
6  install Keynote from the Mac App Store
Please report back to let us know if this helped.

We have tried to apply note 1442501 but we still get the error.  We have upgrade all our landscape without any issue, of course this issue is in our production system.  If you have any suggestions, that would be great.
    Thanks
    Jean Seguin

    Hi Jean,
Did you delete the table KMC_WF_SUBSTITUTE from the database directly and retry the update?
Also try updating only the UWLJWF first after dropping the table, as suggested in the blog:

I have just upgraded to iOS 7 on my 4S and now am having issues with my music.  I have itunes match but also have music on my phone as well.  When I now play music that is on my phone's hard drive, the music just stops playing randomly as if it has lost conection or something.  Does anyone have a fix for this?

  • Windows 7 In Place Upgrade Pre-Windows boot and Graphics issue Alienware M17x

So I'm having multiple issues here.  The first issue surfaced immediately after I removed and reinserted my graphics card.  For reference The computer in question is an Alienware M17XR3 with an AMD 6870m.  Anyhow, The issue I had then was
that my built in display showed a black screen (would see a quick flicker of what was supposed to be on it when changing display settings but then a black screen) after Windows botted up.  I could use an external monitor with no problem, and safe mode
or Windows without graphics drivers allowed everything to run normally.  The on screen display also works normally on boot screens or boot disks such as the windows install disk and Hyrens boot CD.  I am assuming my graphics card is shot.  Either
that or my motherboard.  Input on this is greatly appreciated.  I do intend to upgrade it myself to a 6970m, but I won't have the money until another 1 or 2 paychecks roll around, and I woulld like to be able to use the on-screen display sooner than
    that.
Anyhow, to ensure that it is a hardware issue, rather than a software issue, I cleaned old drivers then installed drivers I knew were fully functional.  I did this several times with several driver versions.  Nothing yielded any results.  I
do not wish to do aclean install unless absolutely necessary or at least not until after the weekend, when I will have time to reinstall my 300+programs, games, themes, mods, etc.  I am not opposed to doing this but I need the computer tonight and
do not have time to do all that before then.  I'll be using it with an external display tonight, so the graphics issue can wait, however, to test with a clean install, I was using Aomei Partition Assistant to break off some free space as a second partition
on which I could install a second Windows 7 installation for testing purposes.  I have done this multiple times before.  Unfortunatly, on 4.5 hours of sleep and having been up for about 18 hours straight I wasn't thinking and forgot to plug my laptop
in.  It lost power during the process and the Windows installation is now totally glitched.  I've tried several fixes all to no avail and would prefer to avoid a clean install until after the weekend.
In Windows XP, I could boot from the install disk and perform a repair install, similar to the Windows 7 upgrade/in place upgrade.  I would like to do this, but seeing as I cannot access the Windows environment, I'm in a bit of a jam.  I could
run that program again from mini Windows XP (Hyren's Boot CD) I believe and create the second partition and dual boot.  My question is, can I drop the new Windows folder over the old one or do something similar to avoid losing my programs and files?  Thanks

    Hi,
Based on my knowledge, we cannot just copy the windows folder to make programs work in the new operating system.
    Hope it helps.

  • Hard Drive Upgrade Leads to Discovery of More Issues

Okay, I have a MacBook Pro (older, pre-unibody), 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 3GB Ram, and purchased a larger hard drive to install to just get me some more storage inside the case.  I put this drive into a kit that makes it an external, firewire drive, and I connect it to my laptop and head to Disk Utility to Clone the the drive before doing the physical switch.  Cloning fails everytime and I get the "underlying task reported failure on exit" message.  I then try to Verify my current disk and I get "Volume Bit Map needs minor repair," "Invalid volume free block count, (should be 2049516 instead of 2049515), and " the volume in my hard drive needs repaired."  Disc Repair option is not accessible, so I look into performing repair via Terminal or Single-User mode.  I was going to do the "/sbin/fsck -fy" command, but Terminal doesn't seem to want display properly, and I can't start-up in Single-User.  Everytime I try, while holding down Command & S, my attempt is ignored and the system starts up normally in OS.
I have read several message board posts about related issues and have tried many different suggestions that I have read, or pieced together on my own, but nothing seems to work.  Does anyone have any other ideas that might allow me to clone this drive so I can install it in my MacBook Pro?
    Thanks

Okay, well, the reason I am trying to clone, and not zero erase everything, is that I do not have all of the programs or OS on discs that I can simply reinstall everything.  If I did, I would do that instead.  In fact, I would prefer that, but at this point, I am hoping to find a suggestion to repair the current drive so that it is clonable.  I'll be upgrading the OS at a later date, but I can't at this time.
Maybe another option would be to find out how, exactly, I can extract the programs from my old drive, and reinstall them on the new one without cloning.
I could backup my user files and programs on another drive.  Install the drive and the OS in the laptop, and then reinstall my old programs.  Any tips on how I can move the programs over without the original discs?

  • Upgraded to pro X and having issues with form created in pro 9

I created a form in LiveCyle using Pro 9, the form was created for an employer who had to buy Pro X so I was upgraded to Pro X.  Here are the issues I am having, This form was the first time I have ever created a form and I have never used Java Script so there is no scripting involved.
    1) With Pro 9, if I opend the form with adobe instead of LiveCycle I could delete pages.  Now with Pro X I can not however I can delete pages in PDF's that I did not use LiveCycle on.  How do I enable exert, delete, insert, etc....
    2) I was told that with Pro X it was possible to set the form so that when it's emailed back to the employer after being filled out, it could be secure.  I have not been able to figure out how to set that up.  The employer needs to receive the completed PDF as a PDF with the information that was input secure (socials, etc... ).  If I set up an email button the employer receives a list for information and that does not work for them.
    3) The employer would like to have a few fields that they input in the form then secure them or make them read only so the employee can not modify.  I know how to do it design mode but it prevents them from being able to input the information they want (employee number for example).
Java Script is totally foreign to me as I am not an IT person I am a novice computer user that is self taught.  If I am going to have to learn this, can anyone suggest a website or book for beginners?
Thank you for any help you can provide....
    Heather

    Hi Heather,
There are a few things going on.
Firstly, forms that are created in LC Designer are fundementally different to native PDF documents. LC Designer forms are known as XFA Forms and are placed in a PDF wrapper, so that they can be opened in Acrobat/Reader. However a lot of the normally editing options (like deleting pages) that you can perform on a native PDF, you cannot do on an XFA Form.
You can set up the form to be emailed back and there are a number of options. The example here (http://assure.ly/dYQFb4 and http://assure.ly/hM2A5y) looks at the standard Submot by Email button down to custom buttons, depending on the functionality you need/want.
One of the things you need to bear in mind is that for users with Reader to be ble to submit the form back as a PDF, it first needs to be Reader Enabled. This is something you can do in Acrobat before you send out the form, but there are license restrictions. See here . http://assure.ly/etkFNU.
You can set up a solution that locks the fields in the form, prior to submission, but you are getting into scripting. There is an example here: http://assure.ly/yDtfsM.
When it comes to resources... see my recommendations here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4186925#4186925.
    I hope that helps,
    Niall

We have just upgraded to ECC 6 and have some issues with workflows. Each dialog step in the workflows appear in the respective agents inbox, but once they action, the workflow do no proceed further. The log shows that the step did receive the terminating events, but doesnt proceed from there.
Anyone who had similiar issues, can you please let me know how you went about overcoming this ?
    Cheers,

    Hi Satish,
Please check the agent assignment for the dialog step task. Also try by setting the task as a general task (if no particulat agents are desired).

  • FlexUnit4.1 B2 upgrade breaks CI system - flexUnit.cfg issues?

    Folks,
We have a working CI system which is currently using binaries from FU4.0 development snapshots.  When we last checked the releases page, we saw that 4.0 stable was out, but so were 4.1 Beta 1 and 2.  Testers within the company were requesting 4.1 Beta 2, so I thought I would see if we could move our binaries directly to that level. I was able to try out the 4.1 B2 CI functionality on my Windows XP machine, after a few attempts... (I saw weird failures at first).  I had already installed Flash Player 10, and had made the file type assocation necessary for the Ant task to be able to invoke the player.  So, I figured that I could just replace the FU binaries to upgrade.  I did that, and my testbed went from working to broken. The failures seemed to point to the local trusted file not being available. I am not sure why that would have been a problem, but I kept trying different things hoping to get something to work.  I am not sure exactly how I got it working, but I recall copying the 4.1B2 binaries into place (replacing the older 4.0 dev snapshots), deleting the flexUnit.cfg file under C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerTrust, and rebooting the machine.
I thought the weird issues I had seen were a fluke.I now do not think that is true...
After getting 4.1 B2 to work successfully on my WinXP desktop, I thought I would try it out on one of the production CI servers, which runs Windows Server 2008. I shutdown the system, replaced the binaries, restarted the machine, and I am seeing a similar problem.
Here is what I am observing - can someone please confirm these findings and explain why this is happening and how can I fix it (the machine reboot did not work on Server 2008)?
The Ant task times out waiting for the results: "The following error occurred while executing this line: :  java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: Socket timeout waiting for flexunit  report."
Apparently the local trust folder location where flexUnit.cfg is written has moved with 4.1 to a new location on the disk. It used to be here (WinXP):
        C:\WINNT\system32\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerTrust\
    New location (WinXP):
         C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#Security\FlashPlayerTrust\
The locations on Win Server 2008 - old:
         C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\FlashPlayerTrust\
    new:
         C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash  Player\#Security\FlashPlayerTrust\
I surmised this from the errors provided in the process log, and from watching where the flexUnit.cfg file was written to disk.  On my WinXP machine, flexUnit.cfg eventually started to get written to the new location where the new 4.1 B2 binaries expect it.  However on Win 2008, flexUnit.cfg is no longer being written to either the old or new locations!  I watched both folders while the ant process ran, and neither was updated.  Here is a snippet of the output (with FU 4.1 B2 binaries). Note the FileNotFoundException:

    @Brian,
My apologies for mixing up the revision strings previously. It was a long day. :-)
I updated to flexunit 4.1.0-beta2, and my problems with the flexUnit.cfg file went away. Hurray!
    Now I have another problem.
If I have the EITHER the CIListener or the FlexCoverListener added as listeners, my tests run to completion. If I have BOTH listeners configured, the flexunit runner hangs showing "Running tests..." and 0/100 progress. This happens whether or not I have the UIListener configured (do I need that any more? Looks like the flexunit player works regardless). This is via Ant from the command line in Cygwin.
Here's the flexunit ant task verbose output when it hangs:

  • Upgrade to MQ 5.3 causing issues

We have been using the alpha code for 'MQ Series JMS Support' for the last
18 months or so without any issues on WLS 6.0 first and then WLS 6.1.
The runtime is still available at
              http://dev2dev.bea.com/codelibrary/code/mqseries.jsp
While I understand that this is Alpha code and not officially supported by
Bea, can someone please try to help me with the below issues ?
We are doing an upgrade from MQ Series 5.2 to 5.3 or are suddenly seeing the
infamous 'NoClassDefFoundError' on one of the XA classes. I think I may
know what's going on but have no way to fix the problem. The
wlsmqseries.jar was built using the MQ Series 5.2 libraries. Since we are
upgrading to MQ Series 5.3 the classes in wlsmqseries.zip need to be rebuilt
using the new APIs (I am pretty sure there are no API changes). Is it
possible that the contributor of this utility (if reading this email) build
wlsmqseries.jar using the MQ Series 5.3 libraries and release it. Or
alternatively, I'll be happy to do the build if the source is given. Most
of the stuff in the dev2dev site has code included. This one seems to be
one of the few that doesn't have code.
Note - Upgrading to WLS 7.0 or 8.1 is not an option for another 6 months :(
              Help ! Please !
              Adarsh

    Alex,
I was wrong on the analysis. The problem vanished after I included the MQ
libraries in my library path. I am now able to do XA transactions with the
MQ Series 5.3 Queue Manager without any issues (ofcourse, using your
              wrappers).
I apologize for the false alarm :)
              Thanks for your immediate response,
              Adarsh
