OBI EE Developer

Does anyone out there know anyone with OBI EE (Siebel Analytics) expertise that is looking for work?
I have an open position.

I have a posiiton for some one to work in the Orange County California area in an OBI EE (Siebel Analytics) environment. The position is located here at our corporate headquarters.
The role entails support and development of our analytics environment.
We have a customer data warehouse that incorporates billing information and a Siebel CRM data warehouse. The position involves supporting both the front end and the repository.
This will also entail working closely with our user community both in defining their needs as well as mentoring the users so that they can become more skilled in the BI development.
How's that?

Hi,
I am new to BI Publisher. I want to call a OBI report (developed using Answer) from BI Publisher using Web Services.

Publisher supports calling an Answer report as a data source for a BIP report. Its just another data source fro BIP - no need to code to a WS its done for you.

this just gets the data from the Answer, you will still need the layout template to format it.
If you mean to call OBIEE to get the HTML output back. It could be done but you will have to handle it using an extension and then handle the returning HTML and convert it to XSL-FO instructions.

How to disable automatic aliases in presentation catalog

Hi!
I am working on OBI EE development project in prototyping phase when requirements for column naming change quite often. For all presentation columns we have option "Use Logical Column Name" so that whenever we want to change name of column, we change it in Business Model.
The problem is that since we change names quite often, there are many aliases created in presentation model. And it starts to look messy and I'm afraid that in longer run, that might cause unexpected results in reports. Since we don't have that many reports right now, editing them is not a problem.
So - I would like to switch automatic aliases off, and switch them on only when there is serious amount of reports and naming convention is not likely to change much. Is this possible?
(I tried edditing repository offline - it still creates alliases)

Thanks for advice. I tried query repository tool, but that didn't work that well:
(1) I could not filter presentation columns that have aliases (where alias exists), I could only filter columns, where alias contains specific value (neither * nor % worked).
(2) I cold not remove aliases in bulk - had to open each column and remove aliases one by one.

Users tablespace - datafile is 24.5 GB, only 1.2Gb used - What should I Do?

Hi All,
In my database I have users tablespace and its datafile is users01.dbf. File size is 24.5 GB, but used data is 1.2 GB. I got this information from OEM, see below image:

OBI Mobile App Designer raises Internal Server Error

Hi,
we are running OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 on a 64-bit environment including OBI Mobile App Designer. We have the problem that two components (mapviewer and bisearch) are not starting automatically, which might cause the problem that we get a 500 Internal Server Error when trying to open the Mobile App Designer.
Before this problem occured we were running the OBIEE sample RPD that comes with the OBIEE installation. At this point in time there was only one component not starting up (bisearch component). Accessing the OBI Mobile App Designer was not a problem at all. After some time we decided to change the RPD in order to have more meaningful data available. Since we changed the RPD we face major issues with this environment.
I tried to start the mapviewer and bisearch components manually in the Enterprise Manager. This worked only for the mapviewer. Before we changed the RPD all the components except bisearch were starting as expected. At this time accessing OBI Mobile App Designer was also not a problem.
A few days ago we were even not able to login to analytics, which told us that user or password must be wrong. I then tried to refresh GUIDs because of the new RPD that has been deployed recently. This resulted in a failure of BI server start after trying to refresh GUIDs with the respective settings in instanceconfig.xml and NQSconfig.ini. After resetting the configuration to the initial state we were able to start the components including BI server. What still remains is the issue with bisearch component and the problem related to OBI Mobile App Designer as mentioned before.
We observed that the log file of the managed server contains some error messages that do at least relate to the bisearch component. We did not find any helpful information to tackle this issue. Any ideas on how to resolve these issues in order to be able to access OBI Mobile Designer again? Due to the fact that OBI Mobile App Designer uses BI Publisher there might be a problem with that.

OBIA Financial Analytics - ETL Incremental Load issue

Hi guys
I have an issue while doing ETL Incremental load in DEV. Source, Target ORACLE.
issue with these two tasks: SDE_ORA_GL_JOURNALS and SDE_ORA_ImportReferenceExtract
incremental load is holding at SDE_ORA_GL_JOURNALS.....on Database sessions the query is completed and also the session is done but no update in the session log for that session in informatica. It says hust ' SQL Query issued to database' . no progress from there. and the task in both informatica session monitor and DAC says running and keeps running for ever. No errors seen in any of the log files.
Any idea on whats happening? I checked session logs, DAC servr logs, Database alert logs, Exception logs on source and found nothing.
I tried to run these Informatica generated queries in SQL developer and they ran well and I did see the results. More over, weird thing is from past three days and about 10 runs....the statis tics are
both thses tasks run in parallel and most of the times Import references extract is completed first and then GL_Journals is running for ever
In one run, GL_Journals is done but then Import reference extract is running for ever. I dont exactly understand whats happening. I see both the queries running in parallel on source database.
Please give me some idea on this. And this same stuff is running good on QA. I dont know how this is working.....any idea on this is appreciated. Thank you. let me know of ay questions. Thank you in advance.

ODI 11.1.1.5 on different server from OBI 11.1.1.5

I am basically facing a problem with installing ODI 11.1.1.5 (Developer, Standalone and Java EE installations) on a different server from OBI 11.1.1.5. Basically, the thing that did cause this type of installation is that I cannot find a version of ODI to run a 64-bit machine like OBI 11.1.1.5. Hence, I installed the OBI on the 64 bit machine and shared the entire drive on which the home of the BI exist. The share process referenced all the folders contained inside the home with full permission given for read and change. This was being done to provide the bea home for the ODI Java EE installation which is required as a part of the installation process.
The problem is when I specify the middleware home location in the ODI installation with the given shared bea location an error appears saying: INST-07058: unexpected error occurred while validating Oracle home location.
I would be grateful to receive some advice on how to overcome this obstacle with regards to installting ODI on a 32-bit server where the weblogic AS is resided on a different machine running in 64-bit.
Help is very much appreciated...

EPM 11.1.2.1 is certified with 10.3.5.6+
To be honest if you are using 10.3.5.x then it worth patching the latest patch releases as many bugs have been addressed.

Best way and guide to set up relations between CDB 10.2 and OBI 10.1.3.2?

Hi,
For a very simple demo,
CDB 10.2 and OBI 10.1.3.2 are already installed,
the goal is to setup the following actions between CDB 10.2 and OBI 10.1.3.2:
- recept demand of one xml file from OBI,
- search this file into Content DB,
- give to OBI this file found into Content DB.
Do i have to use Web Services or to prefer to use BPEL?
Where to find a practical step by step guide or help guide for dummy on Web Services or BPEL?

Talent Management in OBIA 7.9.6 - HR Analytics

Hi all,
I am aware that OBIA 7.9.6 HR Anayltics module has a few dashboards for Talent Management but I am not sure what those dashboards/reports are.
I can see Performance Management / Workforce Profile/ Absence / Retention.
Also I observe that " Workforce Development " dashboard description says that it is key talent management initiative. Is that all?
Please help me as I am completely new to OBIA.

User Customized Oracle R graphs in OBI

I have created anonymous block in database as below:

In OBI11.1.1.7 physical layer, created a view as below:

Made the necessary joins in logical layer and changed the logical formula for IMAGE column as below:

Exposed in presentation layer. Consistency check shows no errors.
In Analysis, when i select these columns, get the below error:

Hi Namrata,
From the error log, the query generation by BI server has failed. Could you pls ensure that you have followed the following steps
Instead of ID as double make it INT and set it as primary key in physical layer(better to keep primary key as integer)
In BMM after creating one-one join, (easiest way if you want to use one table alone is by creating duplicate and then creating join)
1. for ID column set up the logical formula as lookup(..image, ..id)
2. for image column set, in properties/general set the 'sort order' and 'descriptor id' to ID column
drag drop the original table from BMM where you have made the above amendments to presentation layer
Go for global consistency check, save and restart bi services from EM(easiest way)
(ps; You can ensure if data is fetched for the sql issued by updating row count in physical layer so that session variables are properly set up,
or execute the query on sqlplus prompt/sql developer whichever is comfortable (though you cannot check for variables there)..)

Integration between CRM OnDemand and OBI EE

Does Oracle provide out-of-the-box ETLs, data mapping and everthing else required from the Siebel CRM OnDemand application to the Oracle Business Intelligence applications ? What does the customer need to do pull out data from the Siebel CRM OnDemand and use the data from the OBI platform?

CRM On Demand has an inbuilt Analytics reporting object which is developed off OBIEE or the traditional Siebel Analytics. Having said that, it is not possible for you to run complex SQL queries and get complex reports within the CRMOD UI. R16 of CRMOD does have some more added features but I wouldn't think you can do things like - built complex SQL Structures, or schedule a report etc.
If you want to use OBIEE and to pull data out of CRMOD, I would suggest use the existing WSDL's provided within CRMOD and develop web services that would dump the data into the OBIEE data structure and use OBIEE for all your report needs.
Hope this helps. If you find a better way, please let me know. I would like to explore that.

OBI EE : system requirements

since a couple weeks OBI EE is available for download on OTN. I had a look at the system requirements, but unfortunately (for me), my machine doesn't meet them.
Has anyone good (or bad) experience with running Oracle Business Intelligence Suite Enterprise Edition (R3), on - let's say - 1Gb of RAM ?

When installing OBIEE you have the choice to perform a default install (based on OC4J standalone) or an Advanced install based on iAS. think the "Development mode" referred is the out of the box default install based on OC4J.
I run a full blown OBIEE in iAS on my release 12 database side and only a presentation server in iAS at the apps side. I haven't had real performance issues. It's obvious this is not a production installation but for testing and evaluating software it does the job perfectly.
I must say this is a linux install. What windows will do with it I can and will not predict :)

Kranthi : To open in online mode,the BI server should be up so it accepts the password and then directs you to the layout. That is the case, I have OBI server up running and accept login from Answers page.
Kranthi: first you should go through about offline/online modes before proceeding further.You can go through this from the BI answers user guide. The BI Answers user guide I found is OBI Answers, Delivers, and Interactive Dashboards User Guide, B31767-01 for Version 10.1.3.2. I could not find info for security management or login/password. Can you be more specific?

I am not sure how OBI RPD authenticate logins. I am not using LDAP. I do not have a user Administrator in my Oracle database. Thus it does not appear authenticated with DB.
I have a DSN configured on the window box, and be able to import database objects.

OBI 10g skins to download?

Hi All,
Does anyone have any OBI 10g skins which they have designed which they are willing to share (upload online)?
I know there is a lot of documentation on how to create your own skin, however it would be great if we had a resource of skins developed by other users which could be used or amended.

Hi,
Should not be an issue. When you install 11g, it will create few default schemas, provide your prod db details so that obiee related schemas will reside in prod db.
You should not have any issue in migration.

OBI SE1 versions

Hello,
Our GRCI analytics product is on OBIEE 10.1.3.3.2 and OBIEE 10.1.3.3.3.
However we have following questions, that would help us in deciding the pricing options for our customers.
- Are the corresponding OBI SE1 available out (OTN or SAC) for above versions. I couldn't locate them in OTN.
- Is the rpd/webcat developed using OBIEE compatible with OBI SE1?

No, Delivers is not included in the licence for BISE1. BISE1 includes server, answers, dashboards, publisher plus a bundled datawarehouse Database SE1 with Warehouse Builder core ETL. BI suite EE Plus includes server, answers, dashboards, publisher and in addition Delivers, Disconnected Analytics, MS Office Powerpoint/Excel plugins "plus" some hyperion perfomance management stuff but does not include a data warehouse.
