OBI11g also available for Standard Edition?

Hi,
I would like to know if the new version of Oracle Business Intelligence 11g will be also available for the Standard Edition or if clients need to migrate to the Enterprise Edition to move to the 11g version.

Oracle licensing questions should be directed to, and answered by, Oracle Corp. Suffice to say that there does not appear to be an OBISE1 for 11g at this time.

hi everyone,
I have some installations using 10g Standard and 1 installation that is 10g Enterprise edition.
I found this quote in another post: "Oracle Streams Message queuing and apply features of Oracle Streams are available in Standard Edition and Standard Edition One, but change capture is available only in Enterprise Edition. "
I have a couple of questions about which edition can do what.
1. If I want to use Streams to replicate data to my alternate/failover server, can I do that with the Standard Edition or only with Enterprise Ed?
2. With Standard Edition, how could Streams be used - what are some good uses - alert notification?, message queueing ?

Thanks for the compliments!
With Streams you can also transform the data. For example, we use it to load our data warehouse. Now if you start transforming the data (using dml handlers or custom rule base transformations) the performance degrades.
You can use streams for several purposes: auditing/upgrades/etc, anything that can be done with transaction data captured at a source database. You can get very creative with all the available options offered by streams.
I encourage you to read the manuals. I know they are big but it is an amazing technology in my opinion.

No, it only runs on the iPhone/iPod Touch. The only way to run it on a Mac would be for the developer to release a Mac version of the game.

You can use below manual installation proceeds as follows :
Step 1. Download a setup for Windows and run it on a Windows machine.
Step 2. Once the setup is finished, FTP all the following files and folders from your Windows machine to you Sun Solaris server :
the entire 'bin' folder (excepting the '.bat' files) - ASCII transfer mode
the entire 'lib' folder - BINARY transfer mode
the entire 'drivers' folder - BINARY transfer mode
Step 3. Once you have transferred all the files, do not forget to configure the odiparams.sh file according to your environment. Also add the appropriate files, used by ODI to connect to your technologies, to the 'drivers' folder.

No, the linux_81501patch_ee.tgz patch is only for the
Enterprise Edition. The standard Edition install without
a glitch (except the "create database option in the Universal
Installer. Use dbasst instead).

Finder is not available for standard user

Hi,
I recently installed OS X (10.8.2) from app store. We created "Data" folder and created few admin and non admin users. Granted access to both users to same folder. When admin logged off and standard user logged in, he could not find Finder. Repeated this with 8 standard users and Finder is not available for all 8 standard users. For 2 admin users Finder is available.
We did not change any settings whatsoever, so not sure this behavier is by design or I am missing something.

Are you running OS X 10.8 client or Server (is Server.app installed)? If you are using OS X Server, are these local accounts or network accounts?
What do you mean by "could not find Finder?" As in could not log in? Could not access this 'Data' folder in Finder?

I'm considering implementing GoldenGate for bidirectional active-active replication between 2 Oracle Standard Edition databases.
I couldn't find any reference about the deference between GG on Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition.
So I would like to know what are the restrictions for SE1?
Can GG work as bidirectional active active replication include DDL on SE1?

I can not find documentation on licensing restrictions on Streams (SE/SE1) you speak.
Only this is documented in the manual license (https://docs.oracle.com/database/121/DBLIC/toc.htm) this restriction:
With SE / SE1 capture is async , that is you could not perform real-time capture.
But not indicate any restriction more.
In this case if you want to use real-time capture, GG would have to be used in classic mode.
Any way, A Golden Gate licence you need.

According to the 10g Licencing info, only table compression is listed under Table 1-1 Features Not Available with Oracle Database Standard Edition or Standard Edition One.

Templates Availability for Standard Reports

There are some seeded templates are available for GL product like 'Trial Balance Detail' report.
Customer wants know if the Oracle is planning to provide the Seeded templates for other Standard reports.
If Yes what are the timelines.

There are lots of reports - I think 200 in CU2. However, standard reports are provided by the application teams (e.g. Financials), so you will need to ask the Financials teams for what templates they will ship.

Developer for Standard Edition

I need to restrict a developer edition the same as standard
edition is restricted, so I can tell my customers to buy Standard
instead of Enterprise edition. Is that possible ?
I just need to test my application under a Standard Edition
installation before telling my customers to buy Standard instead of
Enterprise edition, but I think Developer Edition allows me to do
anything from Enterprise edition, so I am not sure if my
application will work in the standard edition. Will just a
standalone setup do the trick ?

this is a 3rd party plugin which is available from the author´s website only: http://www.synasys.de/index.php?id=49
Regretfully the author´s website is mainly in german, so you´ll have to find a way through that yourself :-) As far as I can see, you´ll currently need to contact the author to have him send a demo version to you, as it´s not available for download yet.
However it must be said that - in regards to defining a dynamic path to an image folder - the FCKeditor version of this plugin is not (yet) as flexible as its TinyMCE counterpart, and this is only due to FCKeditor´s quite unflexible approach to have all configuration data defined in external files rather than "in situ".

They're available in EE only. Same with bitmap indexes too.

Encryption for Standard Edition

We're on 11g std edition and looking for ways to encrypy our backups. We cannot us Advanced Oracle Security since we are not licensed for them and are not on Enterprise Edition.
Does anyone recommend any file encrytion tools they have used that can do the same outside oracle.

You can use cell-level encryption by the various EncryptByXxxx function. But that assumes that you are writing the SQL code yourself, and you seem to have Sharepoint. Maybe you should ask in a Sharepoint forum what is possible in the realm of Sharepoint.
It also helps if you have an understanding of why you want to encrypt. That is, what do you want to protect yourself against?
