OBIEE 10g Marketing Jobs logs

Hi All,
I can see only few logs (last 1 day)
when i go to "Settings" -> Administration -> "Manage Marketing Jobs"
But how to check the logs of last 2 days. Please help. Someone kicked off the segment tree getcounts 2 days back and want to know how long did it take.

Yes, we have configured according to that document itself and it is working fine.
But that works only when we create the user in OBI rpd also with the same uid as the OID user (used for authentication).
My question is - is there a way that this integration can be achieved without creating the user in OBI rpd ?
Note: I am not sure about the step mentioned in the document: "Get dynamic group membership working before attempting to enable SSO". What does that mean ?

OBIEE 10g UI shows logging in message while downloading a report.

Hi Experts,
We have a report on OBIEE Dashboard which show URLs (GO URLs) to download the report in .CSV format.
Most of the times, It works fine... However, sometimes the user clicks on the link, the report starts downloading but the page (on which the link was clicked) keeps showing Logging In message.
Has anyone faced this issue ever?
(We are using OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 on Solaris)

Alert if Update counts fail in Marketing segment tree in OBIEE 10G

I have a requirement to create alert if update counts fails in segment tree in marketing OBIEE 10G. If anyone can help, appreciated.

For the benefit of other users:
With help from Oracle support I was able to solve this error. The workaround is to populate Saved Results Set tab and QLI-Cache tabs completely.
In our system we are not using any functionality associated with these tabs. Since Oracle suggested I had to do it !!!
After populating these tabs the error didn't occur.

Hi,
If your DBMS is 10.2.0.4 and your application servers are Windows there is a serious bug with the 10.2.0.4 client you should be aware of. Please contact me directly or your TAM for the details. It is very difficult to recreate this issue but when it hits you no users will be able to login.
You should also follow the PPS init.ora and statistics strategy. This will be a key to getting good performance with Siebel on 10g. Our recommendations are slightly different from the Siebel recommendations and cover areas they don’t even mention.
I would recommend you use our PPS SQL Record/Playback product to test your actual production SQL on 10.2. This will give you 100% test coverage and is very easy to do.
You also should read the chapter in my friend Jonathan Lewis’ book that describes upgrade surprises in moving from 9i to 10g

OBIEE 10G SSO Issue

We have configured OBIEE 10g on IIS (ver-6) server. We have a business requirement where we need to integrate OBIEE with another ASP.NET application. So, user should log in once and to view OBIEE reports he should not log in again.
Now we have checked GO URL option given in Chapter 11 of Oracle® Business Intelligence Presentation Services Administration Guide. But problem is our company policy does not allow us to pass Password in HTTP URL. So we cannot use that solution.
We are trying to use SSO and referred to Chapter 8 of Deployment Guide. We followed all the steps give in that chapter
Also, we modified isapiconfig.xml and entered <CredentialStore> paramaters in it.
But when we Go to Analytics URL (for remote machine) Login screen show "Not Logged In" message.
currently we are using REMOTE_USER method as it is given in documention.
So we did everything by the book. Now my question is:
1) We do not have any SSO server/Product, is there is any way we can integrate OBIEE application to other ASP.Net application on another IIS SERVER? There was a suggestion that if we pass remoter_user parameter in HTTP header, is it possible to work this way.
2) Is it possible that if we host both the ASP.NET and OBIEE 10g on SAME IIS server there is way to integrate them using SSO without any SSO server again by passing remote_user HTTP header
3) What options do we have to integrate ASP.NET application and OBIEE without using SSO server itself and without using GO url method as we cannot pass password in header. Will Cookie Enabling Method can work in this scenerio.
4) Is there is way that OBIEE directly take windows ID without SSO server, I know question might sound stupid as in prerequisite i read that we need “SSO system of Choice” but we need to be absolutely sure about our option and possibilities.

Thanks for your response. I was doing a bit of R&D on SOAP API, tell me if i am wrong.
In case we use SOAP API to Authenticate then we will get Response in terms of XML and we have to write our own code to render it in tables or charts.
We dont want that we just want to automate the Authentication part and want to use OBIEE use Interactive Dashboards. Kindly suggest if I am wrong and if we just write a piece of Code to get the Authentication done and it will not affect the further use of OBIEE.

BI Publisher (Obiee 11g) Scheduled jobs start randomly after services restarting

Hi everybody,
I've a problem with scheduled jobs on BI Publisher that start randomly after server restarting.
For example if there's a job scheduled every day at 8.00 am it works fine until the server is not restarted but when I restart it next job running start at 9.28 am (it is an example because the real start time is very unpredictable).
In my case bi publisher is integrated with obiee 11g (11.1.1.6.2) and I've scheduled jobs with administrative user (weblogic). For this user I've set the Bi Publisher Preferences (report locale = Italiano-Italia, Report Time Zone = GMT +1:00) from obiee analytics user account preferencies.
Can anyone have this problem too and help me?

These are not helpful. The first link is to OBIEE 10g and the second is just an install guide. I am having the same issue with BI Publisher returning java.lang.NullPointerException in OBIEE 11g. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

OBIEE 10g - high compilation time

Hi All,
While doing performance tuning for one of the request in OBIEE 10g, I realized that the compilation time for the request is very high (almost 50% of total time). Is there any way I can reduce it?
Here's summary stats from the log.

Check for the indexes. And if its there then try to change the order(ie the order of the columns in the index) with which the query uses the indexes.
Otherwise you can also make the report run by default in any of the default pages(making it hidden). So what happens is the report gets cached, so when the user tries to view the report, it happens to come fast.

OBIEE 10g - Ability to overlay Area Chart?

Hi Experts,
I am using OBIEE 10g. I have a requirement to plot Total Market Units with Brand units over time in an Area Chart. The requirement here is that the area of Brand Units should overlay on the Market units measure thus signifying that Brand units is out of the total Market Units, but when this is being plotted into an Area Chart, the Market Units is stacked on top of the Brand Units therefore the chart's total (highest point) on the Y Axis is Market Units + Brand Units but I want this total to reflect only the Market Units figure.
Is there anyway in an Area Chart to show the figures for Market Units and Brand units separately (when mouse rollover) but on the Y axis, it's just showing the Market units's figure?

Using logical query filters can convert to sql but it should not with XML.
This is expected behavior for logical queryies only.

Object Level security by creating catalog groups in OBIEE-10G

Hi All,
I have a requirement to display the dashboard based on the user login. Ex. Mike belongs to HR, Smith belongs to Accounts
When Mike logs in he should see only these three dashboards. HR View, Common data1, common data2. When Smith logs in he should see only these three dashboards. Accounts view, Common data1, commondata2.
The commondata1 and commondata2 dashboards has common reports for all the departments. The other dashboards are department specific with all different reports. How can I implement this?
From one of my earlier posts I was advised to do it using Object Level security by creating catalog groups. Can you please provide me end to end instructions on how to create Object level security based on catalog groups.

Yes, You achive by Object Level security by creating catalog groups
1) Create Catalog group and users in RPD part(Ex: Account_grp,HR_grp)
2)assign user to that particular group(let say Ex: Account_grp= Smith and HR_grp=Mike )
3) login (Admin user id ) into dashboard page and --->mange dashboard page -->add users to that particular
dashboard to relevent users and save it then
try to login that mike and smith user it will work

I have below error in nqserver log by which i am unable to connect admin tool and presentation service. I am using OBIEE 10g.

Its not about the no. of connection pools u have in ur RPD .Its the maximum number of connections allowed for this connection pool. The default is 10. This value should be determined by the database make and model
and the configuration of the hardware box on which the database runs as well as the number of concurrent users who require access.

OBIEE 10G sheduler configuration -email

I am trying to set up an answer report to be scheduled to users by emails.
So far I have followed this OBIEE 10G - BI Scheduler Configuration (for Delivers) | GerardNico.com (BI, OBIEE, OWB, DataWarehouse)
And I have created a iBOT for an answer report and tested it work OK to deliver the report to dashboard.
Now for deliver through email, I have followed this OBIEE 10G/11G - How to configure the Mail server of Scheduler/Delivers | GerardNico.com (BI, OBIEE, OWB, DataWare…
So I have set up an email smtp in Job manager - scheduler configuration. It's a non SSL smtp and I have tested the smtp information on another application to make sure it's correct. I restarted presentation server and scheduler in windows - service. But when I test the iBOT, I got following error message:
[nQSError: 75005] Failed to send AUTH command. 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful.
Any idea? I am sure the smtp server, port, username, password are correct because they work in another application. Thanks.

IBot Creation in OBIEE 10G

Hi All,
I have OBIEE 10G installed in a unix server and BI client in windows XP. Now when I configure the scheduler via BI client, under the general tab in which format can i mention the unix server path for the scheduler script, default script and temporary file path. As these paths are defaulted to my local machice D: drive.
Actually my problem is, I was able to login to Delivers using Administrator but unable to save a iBot. It says Authentication failed.

LDAP authentication too slow in OBIEE 10g

Hello ,
For one of our clients we have configured LDAP (Microsoft Active Directory) for authentication purpose in OBIEE 10g repository. The Authentication process takes around 10-15 mins to Login .
Are there any parameters that can help to speed up the process?. Any log which obiee generates through which we can track the root cause?

Check if Initialization Blocks and are failing, that might be reason for slow log in.
If so give proper connection details or else disable unwanted Initialization Blocks.

OBIEE 10g: BI Publisher page not showing properly

Hello all,
I have installed OBIEE 10g on a VM with operating system: XP, service pack 3.
Analytics and Admin tool (I was able to create a new repository) are showing properly but when i try to login to the BI Publisher I just see two folder available "Shared folders"
and "My Folders" and all the other functionalities are missing. Also in the Preferences tab I just see "General Preferences"
and nothing else. I have logged in as an Administrator user but i think the problem is that this user doesn't actually have admin rights when it comes to BI Publisher module.
I tried to give some more permissions through Analytics>Settings>Manage Privilleges but there was no progress.
Can you please give me some guidance on that issue?

i got exactly the same pb. Word 2007 32 bits + Oracle BI Publisher Desktop 11.1.1.7.0 for 32 bit Office on Windows (244 MB)
I can see the BIP Menu in Word,
but the sub menus are : menu2007.logon, menu2007.load_xml_dat ... and of course are not working !
What is wrong ?

We are using OBIEE as a reporting tool with no relation to Siebel. What's the "Manage Marketing Jobs" option for? Can we safely disable this menu option as it seems it's only relevant to Siebel? Thanks.
