Is OBIEE 11.1.1.6 compatiable with Essbase 9.3.3. I am trying to import essbase cube in to BI Admin tool. I am getting the error "The connection has failed Essbase Error 1840802856".Please suggest..

Also, if you use certain features in Essbase that are easy to add in EAS, you end up with outline verification problems in AppMgr, including problems in member calcs. We are on 7.1.3, but some of our financial users do still have AppMgr 6.5.4. Our IT team is using EAS 7.1.5, but resorted to AppMgr for a few tasks where our instalation of EAS 7.1.3 was still buggy, primarily in security. I'd recommend using EAS as much as possible. We're running it on Websphere and SQLServer on our test server and our web server; A couple of us also run a Tomcat/MySQL installation on our desktops in case of server difficulties.

No, it is only compatible with HFM releases up to 11.1.1. You will need to upgrade to FDM 11.1.1.3

I do not think wired will even work with the 6.x runtimes. Your only real option is to put off the move untill you can manage the a6.5 upgrade.

Reverse engineer error with Hyperion Essbase and Planning

We are getting the following error in ODI Operator (3rd step) when trying to reverse-engineer Hyperion Essbase and Planning models. com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot invoke a rollback operation when the AutoCommit mode is set to "true".
Our ODI repository resides in SQL Server.. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Dmitriy,
You should upgrade to the latest patch of ODI available on metalink.oracle.com 10.1.3.4.4.
There was an issue in 10.1.3.4 ODI with the intial reverse when using SQL server. If you shutdown all the ODI UI's and then restart. And then reverse it should work correctly. But you have to make sure you shut down all ODI tools.

Connecting issue with Hyperion Essbase 11.1.2.1 on my laptop

I have installed hyperion 11.1.2.1 on my I5 4BG 500 GB laptop using windows 7 Ultimate
i have done about 5 installs
the last couple of intstall's
I have completely wipe-out my system complete restore to factory setting !!!
everything in installed and loaded and configutor
I am able too log on to admin server and then the essbase outlines
then i make a restore point.
once i do the windows updates
it will run find the first time i use it
but if i close it down and try to open up the system again
I am not able to get the admin server to run
and i am when I can finally get admin running
iI get the error
can not connect to essbase server
what logs should i be looking at
and or what is the issue

and on the install the

Ed Roske & Tracy McMullen (and Glenn for that matter) are some of the best in the business, and their presentation styles are entertaining.
If you are a new or fairly new with Essbase, the book will save you from reading through the dry (sometimes convoluted and often irrelevant) Oracle documentation.
You won't be wasting your money.
For what it's worth, I'm considering buying Glenn's Essbase Studio book.

the error which i am getting is "Apache off-by-one buffer overflow problem."
therefore i need to upgrade the Appache to the latest version available.

How to start working with fresh hyperion essbase 11.1.2.2

I have installed and configured hyperion 11.1.2.2 with below component
1.Essbase
2.HFM
3.HFR
4.Weblogic
5.Oracle HTTP Server
Now I want to start working with hyperion Essbase but not getting a proper way to start from where, its totally different from 11.1.3 which I used previously,
So please help me which services to start with sequence and how to login into Essbsae console/studio to create new database with steps

If you want to use the standalone clients then you will need to install them separately, all the clients are available in the clients package which can be downloaded.
It is also possible to use the EAS web console but the port you connect will depend on how you have configured the system, for example
EAS deployed to own managed server - http://<servername>:10080/easconsole/console.html
EAS deployed to one managed server - http://<servername>:9000/easconsole/console.html
or you can use the http server port 19000, 9000 depending on the http server deployed.

How to install Hyperion Essbase 11.1.2.2 Client

HI Experts,
I need to import metadata from essbase cube into OBIEE 11.1.1.6 from Essbase 11.1.2.2 remote server ,
I got suggestions that I should have installed hyperion essbase 11.1.2.2 client , so can anyone guide me how to install essbase client 11.1.2.2.
I did the same with OBIEE 11.1.13 and 11.1.1.5 with Hyperion essbase 11.1.2 and easily made its access. but with these new realease everything is got changed.

Hyperion Essbase Best Practices Document...

Hi All,
Is there any document out there that has the best practices for Hyperion Essbase development? I am looking for methodologies, naming conventions and such information. Wondering if there is any such doc with Hyperion Essbase Guru's that outlines the best approaches for Essbase-outline development with it . Searching this forum with the string "best practice" yields a lot of threads on specific issues, but couldn't find any document.
Any pointer is most appreciated.

Various consulting organizations have different
guidelines, each with their own strengths and
weaknesses. To get them to cough it up without
bringing them in for a paid project might be
difficult, but not impossible.I agree with Doug here.. Many of these consulting companies have developed their best practices over a number of years and view them as a competitive advantage over the other consulting firms. I would be highly surprised if you managed to get ahold of such a document very easily.
That being said, those same consultants share information here in bits and pieces, so you can learn at least some of the best practices here (along with best practice tips from consultants/developers/customers who don't have an 'official' best practices guide)..

While I'm not advocating to change delivered code, there is a way you can upgrade to IE10 but have browsers downgraded behind the scenes to run OBIEE 11g as IE versions 7-9 by doing the below
navigate to
Oracle_BI1/bifoundation/web/display/featuretables/
and open iecommon.xml
modify the line that shows below:
<feature name="requiredMetaTags" xsi:type="xsd:string"><meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=100" ></feature>
and change to
<feature name="requiredMetaTags" xsi:type="xsd:string"><meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9" ></feature>
This will force the meta tag that's push with each html page to be rendered as document type IE9. You can take this all the way down to IE7.
Keep in mind, this method isn't officially supported. However, when you have no control over how IE is rolled out in your organization you're really forced to do things out the ordinary to keep the application functioning

OBIEE integration with Hyperion MDM?

Has anybody seen or worked on a project that integrated OBIEE with Hyperion MDM/DRM? I'm not familiar with MDM but it seems to me that MDM creates metadata that may overlap what OBIEE already has.
Any information on this would be greatly helpful.

OBIEE integration with Hyperion

Hi All,
I am currently working in an OBIEE project where we are having OBI integration with hyperion. All integration and reporting part is working well but we got an issue in our OBI report because of restructuring of hyperion cube hierarchy.
We have any OBIE- Hyperion integrated report,
We have an issue regarding the hyperion hierarchy. In our previous project release we have a report where we are generating report on the basis of product hierarchy, part number(Hyperion Cube) which is at the 7th level of Product dimension at that time.
In this week there is a restructuring of the product hierarchy where they have added one more level i.e, Level 8, and the part number earlier which is coming from level 7 now at level 8.
To resolve this we have manually added level 8 in the existing cube for the part number in OBI repository, but it not returning any result for Level 8 still it is pointing to Level 7.
Instead of this when I reimported the cube, the data is coming for level 8 as expected.
Please suggest how to resolve this issue without reimporting the cube, because we already developed the report on the basis of level 7(Previous Release).
If we go for reimport option, then again we have so much of re-work.
Please help me out in resolving this issue, if any other option available.
