OBIEE 11g bi_server2 issue

Hi,
I have clustered the environment(horizontal clustering) so Admin server will be 1 and we will have 2 bi_server which is bi_server1 and bi_server2. Here i am trying to "How To Start WebLogic Admin And OBIEE 11g Managed Servers Without Prompting Administrator Username And Password On Unix Environments [ID 1265834.1]" so i followed the same and restarted the weblogic and managed server. But my bi_server2 is not getting started its showing the below error :
used the command : ./startbi_server2.sh > start_bi_server2.log &

Try to remove the file AdminServer.lok from FMW_HOME\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp
and start the server.

OBIEE 11g migration issues...

Hi Experts,
I have installed the OBIEE 11g and tried out the SimpleLite repository and catalog which is available along with the installation. That was working fine. and also I was be able to create/edit the analysis. I could be able to access admin presentation page using the user "weblogic". "weblogic" user is belonging to "BIAdministrators" system role and "BIAdminstrator" Application role.
After that i have migrated one of my OBIEE 10g local project to 11g. After the migration i couldn't be able to access the admin page. I am getting authorization issue. Not only that i cannot also be able to create analysis too. Still the weblogic belongs to BIAdministator" user. Did i miss any step ?
Apart from that in that case i couldn't be able to update the repository row count when i open the repository in online mode. I am getting "Connection has failed" message when i try that. I have verified the ODBC connection was fine before try out that.
No my question is OBIEE 11 g migration has issue? or do we need to create the project from the scratch?
You guidelines are much appreciated.

Obiee 11g upgrade issue for date format

Hi,
I am facing a date format issue with obiee 11g report. This statement cast(cast(current_date as char) as timestamp) is failing with "not a valid month" error in obiee 11g. This worked fine with obiee 10g.
I am basically trying to set the date to 12:00:00 am of the sysdate. Below is what I am trying to achieve:
timestampadd(sql_tsi_hour, 1, cast(cast(current_date as char) as timestamp)))
the above statement fails in obiee 11g.

I dont think you need any functions to get the required output, try to set the date format as below

I think with format and then the below should work with no issues.

OBIEE 11g installation Issue - Demo Cert in production mode

Hello All, I installed OBIEE 11g along with Weblogic 10.3.5 on Linux 64 bit server. I searched entire <<MW_HOME>> folders and changed PRODUCTION_MODE to false in all possible .sh files. However, the error doesn't go away.
Is there any other location, I need to check for this flag?
Also, when I login to WebLogic console, Domains --> Configuration --> General .. I still see Production mode = true.

OBIEE 11g Prompt Issue

I've a dashboard prompt containing a column *'Fiscal Year'*. While opening 'Fiscal Year' in prompt, it shows data like *2012.00,2013.00*...etc though in database data are liike *2012,2013*....etc. How can I rectify this decimal position??
Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

Go to your RPD Physical layer > change the Year column data type double into int then test it out. it should work
also u can try to use round function on the Dashboard prompt year column (edit prompt year column formula section add it)
example: Year data is 2010 then if u use round fxn
ROUND("MT BUSINESS DATE"."Year",0) this will give u 2010
ROUND("MT BUSINESS DATE"."Year",2) this will give u 2010.00

Filter value based on Date in OBIEE 11g, Reporting Issue

I have following tables
Dim_Item
Dim_Loc
Fact_Price-Item_Key,Loc_Key,Date_Key,Reason_Code,Amount,Load_date
Reason Code is the code which discribes the reson behind price change
Amount- price of Item at particular location (Note: one item can have different price at different location)
Load Date - When ever there is price change for a particular item at particular location new record is inserted in the fact load date represents the date on which the data is updated

My report requirement is
Report should show only the Item & location for which there is price change
Report should be like

I have tried to calculate Orignal_Amt by taking Min(Load_Date) & Changed_Amt by taking Max(Load_Date) but result is not correct
I need to min(Load_Date) or max(load_date) for an Item at particular location
i.e it should be like min(load_date by item_key,loc_key)
max(load_date by item_key,loc_key)
then I can filter out Amount based on this min & max value.
How can I achive this, is there any other approach to achive this

What about the sample data below - is considered to be a price change or not?

Option #1:
Use 2 requests:
Req1 selects surrogate key for the first and last record by load date for each location and product. Surrogate key is just a concatenated expression of Item_Key, Loc_Key and Load_Date fields (use separators between them).
For this request you need to filter out all other dates but first and last - use Rank function with BY clause. It will be 2 calculated fields: RANK(Date_Load BY Item_Key, Loc_Key) = last date, RANK(-Date_Load BY Item_Key, Loc_Key) = first date. Select records having any of these ranks=1.
In result this request should return up to 2 records for each product-location combination with surrogate key, something like this for my example:

In fact, it could be more than 2 records in case there are more than 1 change in a day for the price and no time stored on date field. This is up to you how to eliminate duplicates.
Now you have another request, resulting one, which is filtered by Req1 using the same surrogate key expression. Orignal_Amt =Min(Amount), Change_Amt = Max(Amount). Apply a filter to find records with different values between them.
In result, if product price is the same in the beginning and end of period (or it is single record) - these records will be filtered out, otherwise you get them in the report.
Option #2:
Play around with logical SQL under Advanced tab, it allows you to write requests with joins (as regular SQL does).
This is sort of desperate option as such an analysis is hard to maintain (make modifications to it).

Login issue in OBIEE 11g

Hi Experts,
We are using OBIEE 11g
We are facing the strange issue while accessing the presentation services login page.
I had uploaded the RPD file using EM,it is working for 1 hour with out any issue.
After some time the fallowing error is coming. then we are not able to access presentation services,
I had observed all the services are down in EM>Capasity manage ment tab.
Longing screen is coming ,but after entering the credentials ,it is showing login into…but not at all opening the window.
Error connecting to the Oracle BI Server: Could not connect to the Oracle BI Server because it is not running or is inaccessible. Please contact your system administrator.
Error Codes: WH4KCFW6:OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLDriverConnectW).
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
[nQSError: 12002] Socket communication error at call=Connect: (Number=0) Call=NQRpc: An unknown socket communications error has occurred.

1>Disable the network , keep the loopback adaptor enabled and then restart the services.
2> You can enable the network after services are restarted.

Issue in Dashboard Prompt of OBIEE 11g

Hi,
I had recently migrated from OBIEE 10g to OBIEE 11g.
I had found that there are lot of things which were working on OBIEE 10g are not working in OBIEE 11g.
For Eg:
I have scenario where i have 2 dashboards with different dashboard prompts.
- *1st Dashboard*: I have prompt with 4 columns Year, Month, Qtr and Week. I can filter the data based on the selection of prompt.i.e Summary Report showing all KPIs and when clicked on the any of the KPI it goes to Below report which shows the graphical view of past weeks data.
- Report: Here i show all the week Ids in the Graph format and when clicked on the any week id it navigates to 2nd Dashboard(below) with appropriate week populated in the prompt and show the detailed records.
- *2nd Dashboard*: I have prompt with 5 columns Year, Month, Qtr, Week and Day of the Week with some detailed report. Here the only Week Id should be pre populated and show data based on the week id selection in the above report.
The issue here in OBIEE 11g is, The month Id which was selected in 1st Dashboard prompt is also getting pre populated into the 2nd dashboard prompt. Which should not happen.
Note: This was working fine in OBIEE 10g.
Is there any way to fix this issue in OBIEE 11g.

Thank you for your response.
I had tried that and resolved my problem but it was impacting other reports i.e
I have other reports in 1st Dashboard with different tabs, Here i want the prompt value to be persisted across the reports in same dashboard so that when i go to other tab with in same dashboard the prompt value should be pre-populated and the data should be filtered against that.
Now if i change the scope to page then i will be loosing this functionality.
It was working on OBIEE 10g and i lost this after migrating to OBIEE 11g.
Can you please help me in this regard.

Exporting Issue in OBIEE 11g

Hi,
I am having an issue in exporting a huge amount of data in OBIEE 11g, what happens is : I am able to export the Whole table data which is around 6000 Records, but when I open Excel Sheet the Alignment of the report is ruined after Record number 1890.
I tried this from different browsers and the same result appeared.
can anyone help me with that ?

Agent Issue In Obiee 11g

In OBIEE 11G, how to send automatically one email for different level users for having a look different data by agent?
For example:
One report architeture:

OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5) installation issue on solaris 10

I am trying to install OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5) on solaris 10 and i am facing the following issue once i run the "./runInstaller"

RPD deployment issue in OBIEE 11G

I am getting issue while deploying my own RPD. I followed the below link to deply but when i clicked on Lock & Edit button , It was not giving me the option to choose the new RPD. That browse button was disable.

After you click browse option gets enabled and you can see release configuration above.Can you see release configuration?

OBIEE 11G - Issue passing parameters between two reports

Hi folks,
I am struggling to pass parameters between two reports in OBIEE 11G.
My first report contains the following columns: Rolling Year Type (VCHAR), Year(VCHAR), Month(VCHAR), Cost(Double).
My second report contains the following columns: Rolling Year Type(VCHAR), Year(VCHAR), Month(VCHAR), Category(VCHAR), Cost(Double).
My requirement is to pass the Rolling Year Type, Year and Month values from report 1 to report 2.
On the Month column properties of report 1, I have created an Action Link called 'Drill to Category'. I have clicked on 'Navigate to BI Content' and selected Report 2.
Then on Report 2, I have included three filters: Rolling Year Type is prompted, Year is prompted, Month is promted.
When I run the report I always get the following error:
The specified criteria didn't result in any data. This is often caused by applying filters and/or selections that are too restrictive or that contain incorrect values. Please check your Analysis Filters and try again. The filters currently being applied are shown below.
When I check the cursor cache, the filter values are correct. Does anybody have any idea why Report 2 does not display?
When I remove the Month filter, the report works correctly.
I have since changed the third filter to be Month No and although Report 2 does display, it does not pick up the filter on the Month No.
I initially thought this may have been a caching issue and so I have disabled BI Server Cache but this does not fix my problem.
This was never an issue on OBIEE 10G as I found it very easy to navigate between two requests.
Has anyone else experienced problems with passing parameters between two request in 11G?

I once tried this kind of requirement(with dashboard prompts though) and hit at similar issue. I later found out that the problem is with the space in the parameter values. Can you please let me know, if the same is the case with you?
Suppose the parameter passed is "Jan 2010", but the report on the destination takes the value as "Jan" & "2010". Yes, it kind of split the parameter value to two based on space. I think we can notice the filters the destination report got, by enabling filter view.
In this case, since you pass only value at a time, could you try placing the parameter value anyway in double quotes? I think the Server then will understand it as one value.

OBIEE 11g Calendar alignment issue

Facts: OBIEE 11g - 11.1.5 on Windows 2003 server.
There's an alignment issue going on with OBIEE calendar, wich happens only when the month is october. For all other months, the calendar is displayed properly. It does not depend on the year. You may change the year and select October, you'll get the error.

This behavior may occur when using IE9 (both using compatibility mode or not), Mozila Firefox and Google Chrome.
I've looked over Metalink and the forums and could not find any information about this error.
