OBIEE 11G cookies in broweser

Hi Folks,
Please provide any ideas how to disable obiee cookies in a web browser.
we should ask for log in credentials again when web browser closes with out a log out call...

Oh okay. I was assuming when user closes browser that would treated as idle time since there is not interaction to BI from browser(which is not existing).

Obiee 11g and custom j2ee app using the same cookie name

Hi,
I wrote a same j2ee web application. i'am using authentification through a realm configured in the web.xml.
This web app is deployed in the same weblogic than obiee 11g. What i want to do is to embed my application in a dashboard using an iframe tag, and use the same login from analytics to my custom web app.
In this article http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11035_01/wls100/security/thin_client.html#wp1039551, it is said that by default, all web apps in the sames weblogic server are using the same cookie name so that they share authentification between them. However, i have read in the web that analytics in obiee 11g is using a cookie with the name "ORA_BIPS_NQID".
In the weblogic.xml of my custom application, i set the cookie-name parameter to ORA_BIPS_NQID. However, in the dashbord, it still prompt for authentification to my custom web app.
How can we share authentification between analytics and a custom web app in the same weblogic ?
NB : I dont want to pass the username et password through the url.

By default, if you don't specify a cookie-name in the weblogic.xml configuration file, the weblogic server create a cookie named JSESSIONID for your application. For exemple, if two applications use the default configuration, both of them will use the same cookie name which is JSESSIONID. In this case, when you log in the first application, your are automaticaly logged in the second application with the same credentials. I have already test this kind of integration and it works perfectly. You only need that the two applications are deployed in the same weblogic server.
Now, i want to have the same behaviour between obiee 11g and my custom application deployed in the same weblogic server. I read somewhere in the web that obiee 11g presentation service (analytics) is configured with a cookie-name value = "ORA_BIPS_NQID". So in the weblogic.xml configuration file of my web app, i specify a cookie-name value = "ORA_BIPS_NQID" to have the same cookie-name between the two application. But, it still not work. It prompt for authentification in the dashboards.
I now, that such an integration is possible, because the other bi applications (mapviewer, bipublisher,...) are actually other web applications. However when using, for exemple, maps in dashbords, the mapviwer application automaticaly user the credentials of the user connected in analytics.

OBIEE 11g and SSO with Browser Cookie

In OBIEE 10g we were able to configure the Presentation Server to accept a browser cookie. The cookie value would be passed to the BI Server as the :USER variable. A BI Server Repository Initialization Block would execute a SQL SELECT statement which would return the PeopleSoft username based on the cookie value.
We added the following to the 10g instanceconfig.xml:

mGetTokenUserid is a PL/SQL function which invokes a PeopleSoft web service. The web service simply returns the username for a valid PS_TOKEN cookie.
The Initialization Block works fine in OBIEE 11g.
Unfortunately the instanceconfig.xml settings from 10g do not work in 11g. There is also nothing in the OBIEE 11g documentation which discusses how to tell the system to use a specific cookie value for authentication.
Any guidance as to where in the Fusion Middleware or WebLogic security documentation we might find details on how to get the system to pass the PS_TOKEN cookie to the BI Server in 11g?

OBIEE 11g reading the ORA_BIPS_NQID cookie on the narrative

Hi,
I need to get the session id that the BI returns upon logging. I saw the BI is storing it on a cookie named ORA_BIPS_NQID but wher I try to read it using javascript with the document.cookie the js cannot retrieve the value.
This was possible on 10g by also accessing the cookie named nQuireID.
Kindly help how to retrieve the session id on OBIEE 11g.

OBIEE 11G -

I have setup an excel spreadsheet as my datasource in OBIEE 11G.
I have setup a dashboard that uses this spreadsheet as a datasource. It works fine.
My problem is that when my boss updates the spreadsheet, the coresponding dashboard shows the old data.
In the BI admin tool, if I go to the 'physical' and view data, the updated (new) data is there - it just not updated/refreshed in my dashboard.
Do I need to somehow update the BMM and/or the presentation in the BI admin tool?
I thougth that once the data in the excel spreadsheet was updated, obiee would automatically update - but that isn't happening!
Help!
Btw- i'm really new at obiee..so it may be something obvious I'm not doing...like updating the presentation or BMM...

I want to turn off cache in all layers of OBIEE. Through OFW I have disabled the cache. So is the case with alll physical tables in RPD.
Also, I have changed instanceconfig.xml as per this blog

to remove any presenatin server cache.Restarted the services.
Obviously, first time the report takes a while to load (Dasboard prmpt value=A). Then if I change the dashboard prompt value from A to B, it takes a while to load, which is understandable. But Now if I go back and change the prompt value back to A, it comes very fast.(I want it to be slow, as there is no cahe, it should again go back to DB and get the data) Even cleared the cookies while doing so. Still report comes up very fast.
Looks like it is still caching somewhere may be session level? Can you help how to disabale all forms of caching?

Login issue in OBIEE 11g

Hi Experts,
We are using OBIEE 11g
We are facing the strange issue while accessing the presentation services login page.
I had uploaded the RPD file using EM,it is working for 1 hour with out any issue.
After some time the fallowing error is coming. then we are not able to access presentation services,
I had observed all the services are down in EM>Capasity manage ment tab.
Longing screen is coming ,but after entering the credentials ,it is showing login into…but not at all opening the window.
Error connecting to the Oracle BI Server: Could not connect to the Oracle BI Server because it is not running or is inaccessible. Please contact your system administrator.
Error Codes: WH4KCFW6:OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLDriverConnectW).
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.

I normally do this to fix this problem
1>Disable the network , keep the loopback adaptor enabled and then restart the services.
2> You can enable the network after services are restarted.

I cant able to create a new Analysis and Dashboard prompt in OBIEE 11g

i try to create a new Analysis in OBIEE 11g in (brower: ie,Google chrome, Mozila), i got the error "*unterminated string literal*" and "*Exception at function updateSelectionsPanel: unterminated string literal*".
and i try to create a new Dashboard Prompt using column prompt when i select the column i don't get the filter form and not to be add the column prompt in the Dashboard Prompt.

all the data will be grouped with the two columns which I'm considering in the condition.
my actual requirement with this query is to get the required date from a table to generate the report either as daily or weekly or monthly report. If I use repository variables, variables are not getting refreshed until I regenerate the server(which I should not do in my project). Hence I have created a table to hold weekly start and end dates and monthly start and end dates to pass the value to the actual report using between operator.
please could anyone help me on this, my release date is fast approaching.

In any of the RPD deployments I'm getting the same error , not for some particular RPD .
FYI , yesterday (before this issue) I had a issue with starting presentation services , so as adviced in forum I replaced the files sawguidstate and sawguidstate.atrin the location:
<Instance_Home>\instances\<instance_name>\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\catalog\<project>\root\system\mktgcache\<name>
with the same files from a backup or from another working OBIEE 11g (11.1.5)instance.

Error while deploying RPD in OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.3)

Hi Friends,
At times while deploying RPD in OBIEE 11g, I am getting an error, "_*Supplementary information regarding operation: DOMAIN, UNEXPECTED_ERROR;/tmp/zipped-directory.zip (Permission denied)*_".
We have installed OBIEE over a LINUX machine. I tried to locate this file in the server but was not able to find any such thing. This error happens at random and I am unable to predict the occurrence of this error.
Can someone guide me how to resolve this issue?

You have to disable the central configuration:

Error while exporting to PDF document in OBIEE 11g

In OBIEE 11g we are facing an issue regarding exporting a few reports to pdf. It is resulting in following error: "Error generating PDF document".
The reports are placed on a dashboard which has a prompt too. However, when we remove the prompts, the export is working fine.
We will really appreciate any help in this regard.

Looks like this is a sort of known bug with PDF creator in 11g. Try implementing the below solution:
To configure the Javahost service, edit the Javahost service configuration parameters in the
instanceconfig.xml file. The parameters are
identified by their relative path starting from the /WebConfig/ServerInstance node
For example:
<JavaHost>
<PDF>
<InputStreamLimitInKB>50000</InputStreamLimitInKB>
</PDF>
</JavaHost>
After changes restart Siebel Analytics Java Host and Siebel Analytics Web services
If it doesn't work try to create same report in xml publisher as presentations services in obiee has limited capacities in printing out reports.

For Creating New Reports,
1.Got to -> New ->Analysis you will have your Presentation Tables under Select Subject Area
Click on your Subject Area -> you'll get list of tables under the Subject Area
2. Expand the Folders and click the required column.
3. Click on Result tab - > you'll get Title and Table View
4. Format your Table view and Title View
5. Save your New Report in Shared Folders (You may create your own folder under Shared folder)
View the Reports on Dashboard.
1.Got to -> New ->Dashboard -> you will have New Dashboard Window
Name - Give the name of your Dashboard
Select Location - /Shared Folders/Standard Dashboard/
Click Ok -> you'll get Empty Dashboard window.
2. Edit the Dashboard -> Drag and Drop your Saved reports from Shard Folder under Catalog
3. Click on Save button (Top Right) and save your dashboard -> click run [Green right Arrow(Top Right)].
4. Now you'll have your report in your dashboard page.
Rename Dashboard Page
Edit the Dashboard - > Click Properties Nedt to X Symbol -> Dashboard Properties
-> You'll have the Dashboard Properties window -> Select the Dashboard Page -> Rename
Prompts:
1.Got to -> New ->Dashboard Prompt-> you will have your Presentation Tables under Select Subject Area
Click on your Subject Area -> you'll get the Untitle Prompt Window
-> Click + symbol -> Column Prompts ->you'll get list of tables
2. Expand the Folders and click the required columns from the list (the Columns should be your Report's table).
3. Save your New Prompts in Shared Folders.
Note: The Prompt columns should be Is Promptd in your Reports Filters.

you can achieve it by using CASE WHEN condition END function in obiee. nested case also supported by obiee.

Please guide me on this. Because I am unable to login into Analytics and I think its due to as BI Schedulers are not getting up.

Hi sateesh,
Seems your database listerner and opmnctl is down....first start these in your services pane and then try starting your BI server....but keep in mind close the admin tool if it is open .
