Obiee 11g Ibots Bursting

All: Is it possible to enforce data security filters when a report would need to be delivered to multiple users with individual data visibility? These users will not log in to the OBIEE 11g system and hence the user names (accounts) will not be present under user/groups of WebLogic Console.
BI Publisher can do the same, but I wanted to confirm if OBIEE 11g's IBOT delivery is really not designed/setup to distribute content with individual data security when the users are not selected from logged in user accounts. In a nutshell, we won't pay license fees for users who receive their data thru Ibots.

Short answer: No it isn't.
Longer answer: No it isn't designed to do that. It's a question of security and handling of sensitive data. OBIEE does an implicit login when personalizing the content of an agent. So you can either go for BIP bursting or as you say pay the license fees.

    I am using Obiee 11g (ver. 11.1.1.3.0) and trying to achieve report bursting. I have created Data model and Report. Report is showing result but once I schedule report by bursting to file,
    1. I am getting error (ORA-00923: FROM keyword not found where expected).
    2. where I can get bursting fail log?
    Its urgent.

  • No script engine supported for 'JScript' error in OBIEE 11G ibots

    Infrastructure: 64 bit OBIEE 11.1.1.5 on 64 bit Red-Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6
    We tried using *.java to export the delivery content of an 'Agent' and place it in a shared folder on Windows.
    We are able to use the .java file directly in putty and it works fine in creating a folder and copying the file from source to target, but when we put the same script as part of the actions in the 'Agent' properties, its fails with the error "[nQSError: 66023] No script engine supported for 'JScript'". The e-mail is triggered and the attachment is delivered fine.
    We tried the same with a *.js file. The error is the same. I found people using *.js scripts and they say it worked for them at Re: How to send the content of an agent (PDF Report) to local machine in 11g
    But I am not sure what are the other settings that should be done. The error seems very basic and fundamental and has something to do with java interpreter or something.
    Any help if you have implemented the same, would be greatly appreciated.

    That example in the link shows creating an action at the end of 'Agent'. I am not sure if that is what the user meant by 'create an action'. If the user meant to create an 'action', how does and where we call that action at the end of an 'Agent'?
    I did try creating an action by updating the 'UserScript.js' file, but the moment i update the file with a custom function, the server doesnot recognise the UserScript.js file anymore and i cannot even use the default functions in UserScript.js file.

    Make sure user configured IE  with default settings or ask him to check with different compatible views.

    I am sending the mails succesfully But i am receiving below error....

    Steps to configure device..
    After login into analytics....click on ur username u used to login and select My Account..there u can Add email..
    As for as i know u can do this only if u are sending ibots to few users...

    I have installed OBIEE 11g SampleAppLite in my POC box.
    One of the features I want to have is to allow users to send their feedback (email) about a report to the report owner. Can this be done without launching Outlook? I tried to Invoke a Browser Script and found that I can display a form showing Recipient, Subject and Message text fields, but I do not know how to send the email.

  • OBIEE 11G: Issue with Agent

    Hello All,
    I am trying to make agent work in OBIEE 11G together with Active Directory settings but the agent are failling for some users. Some users are not able to send the ibots:
    We get the following message with Agent Failed:
    Agent ID: XXXXXXX
    No devices for user: XXXX
    Agent ID: XXXXXXXX
    No Content for user: XXXX
    Kindly note that I have already checked the My Account of these users and the email address is well present there.
    Can anyone help us investigate on this issue.

    Is it in RPD or in Weblogic?

  • Hierachy in OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
    I want to know if there is a peculiar features in OBIEE 11g.
    Is it possibile to load all levels of a hierarchy in cache when I start a report or an analysis?
    Because I need to drill inside a hierarchy but each time OBIEE makes again the physical query, and it requires about one minute, and this time is too much for me.

    I dont think it is possible in OBIEE 11g though i never worked on 11g.But your problem seems to be related to cache seeding.
    One mothod to do this is to create a detal level report which has all the columns from hierarchy,Schedule it through IBOT so that it runs everyday.In this way cache will be seeded and you will be able to make use of cache.This is caleed cache seeding.

  • Agents not working in the upgraded OBIEE 11G

    Hi All,
    Recently we hae upgraded our BI Suite(10.1.3.4.1) to 11G(11.1.1.5.0)
    We are able to see all of our ibots(Agents) in the new 11G instance and I have added new recipients, set the schedule for the seedding cache.
    But when I try to run the Agent (Start Immediately), Agent ending up with a warning Invalid subscribers skipped
    Even we have configured the email setup(SMTP) in the enterprise manager and we are able to receive the mail attachments.
    But our goal is to add the usernames in the recipients tab and set the seeding cache option for the specified users.
    How can we achieve this in OBIEE 11G
    Any help would be much apprecialted....

    Hello Everyone,
    The write back feature is working fine. There was an issue privilege setting in rpd.
    Now one field is getting editable while pressing Update button in the dashboard report and type new value and pressing Apply button, data is getting updated in to DB table.
    To aviod the manual entry i want to enter a value from some kind of dropdown or any choice box. So could you please let me know how can i achieve this functionality.

  • OBIEE11g issue: hiding header banner in OBIEE 11g?

    Hi BI Experts,
    I have a requirement which require hiding Search, Advance,Administration etc Header banner and Home, Catalog, Dashboard etc menu banner in OBIEE 11g for some dashboard.
    What i need is only the dashboard content to be displayed without any menus or bars even dashboard page name.
    I m working on obiee 11g. I m not familiar with customized .css file or xml.
    Which .css file or .xml file need to be modified? How?
    Please advice.

    Your updates is very helpfull. I can remove most of these labels.
    But Administration, Sign Out, Alert(We have ibots) , Signed In As weblogic are still there, i could not see any label related these links in file saw.sessioninfos.xml.
    And also i did remove below:
    <resource id="kmsgHeaderAdministration" />
    <resource id="kmsgHeaderLogout" />
    <resource id="kmsgHeaderAlerts" />
    <resource id="kmsgHeaderLoggedInAs" />
    in saw.header.xml file, restarted all server, it did not work. How to remove the others?
    Another concern is can we remove these only for serval dashboard, not for the whole application?
    If we can remove the whole banner instead of removing Label and Link, that would be perfect.

  • Login issue in OBIEE 11g

    Hi Experts,
    We are using OBIEE 11g
    We are facing the strange issue while accessing the presentation services login page.
    I had uploaded the RPD file using EM,it is working for 1 hour with out any issue.
    After some time the fallowing error is coming. then we are not able to access presentation services,
    I had observed all the services are down in EM>Capasity manage ment tab.
    Longing screen is coming ,but after entering the credentials ,it is showing login into…but not at all opening the window.
    Error connecting to the Oracle BI Server: Could not connect to the Oracle BI Server because it is not running or is inaccessible. Please contact your system administrator.
    Error Codes: WH4KCFW6:OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC
    Odbc driver returned an error (SQLDriverConnectW).
    State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
    [nQSError: 12002] Socket communication error at call=Connect: (Number=0) Call=NQRpc: An unknown socket communications error has occurred.

    I normally do this to fix this problem
    1>Disable the network , keep the loopback adaptor enabled and then restart the services.
    2> You can enable the network after services are restarted.
    If you want a more practical solution and dont want to disable network again and again, then you would find the blog below useful.
