Hi, check the server logs inside <@yourBIPath>/bifoundation/diagnostics/OBIEEPresentationservicecomponent and OBIEE servercomponent.
This may sound silly, but are your servers&the nodeman up and running?

I checked another blog for this https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2565716 and even there the explanation doesn't convince me.
I tried to look at the Locale of my system where I am installing and I could see it is using Eng-Us by default. One way suggested to check the Unicode format from the web browser and I could check that too to be UTF-8 as suggested by someone on some other blog.
I checked in the logs too as suggested by the Installation dialogue box but it didn't seem much conclusive too.
Here is the snapshot of the log file which I could found.

Is there any way to check in command prompt to check the locale as required by the system.
What could be the issue here?
Thanks,
NitinHi all,
We are able to resolve the above issue with the below solution.
Root cause of the issue:
You may have a temp directory in the path C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Temp. You got the above mentioned exception because of the temp directory path having spaces_+ in it.
Solution:
1. Create a new directory called TEMP in a different location for ex: C:\TEMP
2. Now, Right click on My computer --> Properties --> Advanced --> click on Environment Variables.
3. You should be having TEMP and TMP as variables under user variables section pointing to the C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Local Settings\Temp path.
4. Edit the TEMP and TMP variables and mention C:\TEMP in the variable value.
5. Deinstall and re-install OBIEE 11g.
Happy OBIEE 11g installation!!

OBIEE 11g Installation Fails at configuration process
Hi All,
I tried installing OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 in my machine.Below are the prerequsite which I followed and the laptop system configuration details.
Pre-Requisites Followed : 1) Creation of Static IP address,2) Created Schema's using RCU In Oracle 11g Database.
Laptop Details : OS-Windows 7,Ram 3 GB and space for Installation nearly 14 GB.
Installation Type: Simple Installation
Issue : There are 14 steps in the wizard.I have succeeded till step 12 which is called "Installation Process",But in Step 13 'Configuration progress' the wizard says Creating Domain status as 'In Progress' which stays in the same status even after 2 hours. So I am not able to complete installation Process as the wizard is not completing the Step 13 process which is 'BI Configuration'. This is the 4 attempt Iam trying the installation and the output is failure in the installation of OBIEE 11g on my machine.
Known Issue : Also when I executed the setup file for running the installation file in 'Drive:\bi_windows_x86_111150_32_disk1_1of2\bishiphome\Disk1\setup.exe',in the command prompt i got a warning message like swap space is 0.But I ignored that error and I gave 'y' to proceed further for the installation. As this swap space issue was common in many of our folk installation process which has ended in successful installation.
Help Needed : Can any one suggest me what will be the cause for the issue,or any Pre-requisite is missing,or the installation steps which I need to follow to make my installation successful.
Thanks in advance,
Regards
Kris- all installation files must be in a folder without spaces.
Try to decompress all files in c:obi11g for exemple and restart installation.

OBIEE 11g installation - OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
Hi All
OBIEE 11g installation fails at configuration step with the following error:
Creating a new AdminServer Object ...
AdminServer port is 7001
Starting the domain ...
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
We tried to set the set JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS in oraparam.ini file and ran the config.bat too.
While running config.bat, the setup is asking for "Scale out BI" and not for creating New domain.
So we are unable to continue with the installation.
Has anyone faced this error.
We are installing on Win7 64 bit machine.
Thanks

OBIEE 11g installation error while configuring (opmnctl error)
While installing OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.3.0),(32-bit) we have choosen software only install and the software was installed successfully. While configuring in 10 th step we are getting the following errors.
We have installed webserver before installing OBIEE 11g.
OS is Windows server 2008
Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obips1 falied and
Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obisch1.
we are using dynamic IP addressThanks, It worked. I unzipped all the folders in a single folder and then with the single Setup.exe it automatically loaded the complete software.
Best Way - Import all the download file into a single folder and run the .exe

OBIEE 11g installation got struck in "Configuration Process"
Hi
I am trying to instal OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.5.0 on Win 7 computer on MS Sql server Express.
Every went smooth with RCU, and OBIEE 11g installation upto step 12.
Now in Step 13, 'Configuration Process', the installer got struck forever showing:
BI Configuration -> 0%
Creating Domain -> In Progress
and rest of all the items in 'Recommended' status.
How can I make this move forward?
I see no activity going on in logs etc. Looks like installer got struck 'creating domain' activity forever.
Thanks for any inputs. Please find the error messages from log: Thanks for any inputs.

OBIEE 11g installation over Oracle Express (XE)
During OBIEE 11g installation we are required to cofigure connection string to DB.
We installled Oracle Express (XE) on the same machine with default settings.
What should be the connection string in the DB details form?
Whether and if so, how should we configure the service in XE?localhost:port_used:db_service_name
Port is usually 1521. DB Service name is the DB name that you assigned to your DB. -

Error when trying to run the rcu.bat file as part of OBIEE 11g installation
when trying to run the rcu.bat file as part of OBIEE 11g installation on windows 7 64 bit I am getting the following error
"windows cannot find C:\Users\manoj\Desktop\Oracle.Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again".
Please help me how to overcome this error, I am not able to understand why it is looking for C:\Users\manoj\Desktop\Oracle.
Thanks
Manojafter setting the ORACLE_HOME and Path environment variables also....I am still getting the same error...so is it like RCU can be run only on windows 7 32-bit machines and it does not work on 64-bit machines? and also it seems like the previous versions of OBIEE 10.1.3.X does not support windows 7 64-bit machines...
please help me finding a solution to this error....
and what are all the versions of OBIEE can be installed on windows 7 64-bit machines?
can't we install OBIEE 11g on windows 7 64-bit machines without including RCU?
thanks

Would anybody be able to provide instructions on how to do this? i.e. I'm not sure on the format of info to be entered and which uname/password weblogic might need.
Having looked in the Middleware Home, it looks as though weblogic is wlserver_10.3
Any advice appreciated.Hi,
I am not sure on windows but on Linux, I run the below command first time and it then stores the password in boot.properties.
startWebLogic.sh -Dweblogic.management.username=weblogic -Dweblogic.management.password=<PASSWORD> -Dweblogic.system.StoreBootIdentity=true &
If I memory is correct, the boot.properties are under the domain.... ~/AdminServer/security/ folder.

Hi All,
I am installing OBIEE 11g on Windows7 32Bit OS.
I have done with all the steps till step 11 without any error. However, ASA it starts the step 12 (i.e. Configuring WebLogic- Copying files...), installation stuck at 0% and do not continue. I waited for 8-10 Hrs but it never started copying files.
Also, I tried the installation numerous times, but every time I got the same problem.
I verified the logs as well, but there was no error.
Please help me to resolve the issue.

Hi,
I am trying to install OBIEE 11g and as per the installation document I need to have OBIEE Installer to start with installation. The document points to
Download Oracle Business Intelligence 11g Installer .zip file from OTN at the
following link:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/middleware/htdocs/111110_fmw.html
This takes to the page with listing to download Weblogic installer instead. Is it the same installer I need to use eve for obiee 11g or the link is wrong.
Appreciate if someone can point to correct location.
Also, RCU zip file donot have any setup or any such file. Which file I should launch to get RCU running?
Appreciate if some one can provider pointer to this.
Thanks,
RiteshHi,
Thanks a bunch. I just got carried away by document.

OBIEE 11g installation - Weblogic server on one host and obiee on another
Hi
I am doing obiee11g installation with the following topology:
1. Weblogic on one Linux Host
2. OBIEE on another Linux server
I am able to successfully complete the weblogic installation and i started the obiee on the another machine. The installation fails at the following point:
Specify Installation Location :
Oracle Middleware Home: /u01/app/oracle(This is the where i have the question - This should be weblogic server location where you hosted on another machine. It should ask me for host name or ip address)
Oracle Home Directory
Any one did the installation with the above and how to overcome the above issue.. Should i share the drive using nfs mount or any other solutions. Your help is appreciated.
ThanksHi,
Can u clarify below questions?
Do u have both servers on the same network?
Thanks.
