what url do you use? And what port? I use (for BI answer) http://obiee-vm:7001/analytics. Port *7001* not 9001. It works for everything. http://obiee-vm:7001/em and so on.

OBIEE 11g login page

Hello everybody,
is there any way to pass ONLY the username to the OBIEE Login page?
I would like to give a customized link to each BI user that will redirect to the login page and will also compile the username field so that the users will need to type only their password.
I have tried using the "GO URL Parameters" ( like this: http://hostname:port/analytics/saw.dll?GO&NQUser=username ), the problem is that it actually tries to log with that username and a blank password...
Do you have any suggestion?

Since it may be useful for somebody else, this is how I solved the issue:
I have created a modified version of the HTML login page adding a small javascript which parses the URL and populates the username field.
I will now inject the changes I made inside the XML file that generates the default login page (logoncontrolmessages.xml)

Link to OBIEE 11g Dashboard Page from a 10g Dashboard Page

Hi all,
Is it possible to place a Link object on a dashboard page (within OBIEE 10g) and have that navigate to an OBIEE 11g dashboard page?
If so, how is that implemented?
Our 11g and 10g environments are on different servers.
For business reasons (and budgets) we are not migrating our entire 10g environment to 11g just yet.

OIM 11g Login page not loading properly

Hi,
I have configured a new OIM 11g environment in a Linux environment.
All my applications were running fine. I was able to work on OIM administrator and Design Console (Client).
Suddenly the OIM 11g administrator login screen is not loading properly and even not able to login from Client.
I restarted the Weblogic Domain and the SOA and OIM server multiple times and they are starting without any error but page is not loading properly.
When I see the logs I get following error on page load.

Is this the first time you restarted the servers after the fresh installation? If no, then there must be for sure some changes done, were they? If yes, then the initial configuration was itself wrong, check the prerequisites before installing.
If not sure of all this then please raise an SR with oracle support.

OBIEE 11g Dashboard page load performance issue

Hi All,
One of my dashboard is taking for 5 to 15 min to load,Once the dashboard is displayed reports are coming fast. Dashboard has 5 pages.
Eg:
When I click on Dashboard -> XXXX Dashboard. It took 5 to 15 min to display the dashboard page. Reports are coming fast once the page is loaded.
Please help me on this.

In response to my post, I said that "OTHER" point which should also be evaluated is the environment you are using. not that this point is paramount.
Since the OBIEE is generated queries, the evaluation of queries generated and sent the data sources for sure should be evaluated.

Character blinking/flickering/flashing on obiee 11g dashboard page

Hi all,
I have a dashboard with one page/tab where we have taken one text item with below html script. My business requirement is to make a particular word or a text to be blinking or flashing whatever. I have used below options to achieve
1. text-decoration:blink;
2. <blink>my text<\blink> ----this is not supported by IE & mozilla browsers.
but the above options did not work, is there any work around to achieve this. Any pointer would be appreciated.

We have a Dashboard page in that multiple reports is there and one Region prompt is there with the scope of page level ,
once i gave the filter with that prompt every report is filtered based on that prompt values .
but in that reports for a particular report we were already drill down based on hierarchy and the remaining all reports are in highest level , now we were applies the filter through the prompt the remaining reports are filtered based on prompt value except that report which is in already drill down mode .
Can any body help me out , is it a tool limitation/ i have to do any changes.

Hi,
The report will react to a prompt only if there is a is promt column in that report. Check if there a is prompt filtered column in the report and remove it.
If you think that column is to be filtered as Is prompted and should not react to the dashboard prompt, then need to check...

Error in Language labels in the OBIEE 11g logon page

Hi all,
I am getting following text messages in place of user name and password in OBIEE11g login screen,
username -> ***kmsgEnterUserIdAndpassword: message text not found****
password -> ***kmsgAuthenticatePassword: message text not found****
and i cannot see "Login text" on the login button either and this is happening only for english language, rest of the languages are working fine..

This is because the text is missing in a config file.
Please go to ORACLE_HOME\bifoundation\web\msgdb\l_en\messages and open the file "logonmessages.xml
Search for
<WebMessage name="kmsgEnterUserIdAndpassword"><TEXT> </TEXT></WebMessage>
Add the text "Enter your user id and password." it should look like this:
<WebMessage name="kmsgEnterUserIdAndpassword"><TEXT>Enter your user id and password. </TEXT></WebMessage>
Then look for kmsgAuthenticatePassword and make sure it looks like this:
<WebMessage name="kmsgAuthenticatePassword"><TEXT>Password</TEXT></WebMessage>

How To place two images in a obiee 11g Report Page header

I want to place two images (one at top left and another at top right ) above the table view . I am not sure how it is called as. i think it is page header . Can anyone let me know how to accomplish this ?

Also how can i make the images left and right aligned .Formatting option is not allowing to move the images left or right.
Pdf output of the report header should display images one at extreme left and extreme right.

11g Home page link questions

A couple of questions about the links on the OBIEE 11g Home page, in the Get Started section:
1. The Introduction to Oracle BI and Oracle BIEE Documentation links both go to the same place: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/index.htm. Is that the intended behavior? Two adjacent links that do the same thing?
2. Clicking the Help Contents ... Oracle BI Publisher link brings up a website login screen for http://localhost:9704/xmlpserver/help/help.jsp. First of all, why would a help site be protected by a login screen? Second, what login can be used to gain access to this site? I've tried every login in my system, including the weblogic login, and it doesn't seem to like any of them.

Clarification and more information:
On the 11g Home page, under the Get Started... section, there is a Help Contents link. Clicking that link reveals three choices for online help, one of which is BI Publisher.
View ... Page Source reveals that the link for BI Publisher should go to: http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?xmlpObjectTasks&Action=help
However, clicking that BI Publisher link opens a new window that shows the URL http://localhost:9704/xmlpserver/help/help.jsp. And THAT webpage is presenting me with a login screen for BI Publisher 11.1.1.3.0, a login screen that doesn't recognize any combination of userid / password that I know of.
Copying and pasting the URL http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?xmlpObjectTasks&Action=help into the browser displays that same login screen and ...help/help.jsp URL.
Copying and pasting just this much of the URL http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?xmlpObjectTasks produces a page with these four rows of text:

1. Why should we have to log in to BI Publisher just to read its online help?
2. Having made every possible guess of anything reasonable, I have no more guesses, and I'm asking what this login screen is looking for in terms of userid/password?

3. Is the Home page possibly just pointing to the wrong location?

Error in accessing the sample application content from the OBIEE 11g

I installed OBIEE 11g + Oracle 11g database on one machine. Everything went smoothly with no issues.
I can connection to the database from SQLPLUS.
Then I followed instructions to deploy sample app. After everything is done, when I try to access the dashboards, reports etc from the OBIEE 11g home page , I get the error below.
I am stuc kand dont know how to proceed. I verified tnsnames.ora and everything seems good.
In the SampleAPp.RPD, I set DB_SID as "ORCL" and DB_HOST as my computer name (along with domain name). No idea how to proceed from here..
I really appreciate any help.

1) Was the oracle installed in multiple instances ? if yes set the Variable path correctly pointing to your right folder
Yes, oracle had multiple instances. I tried copying the tnsnames.ora from my oracle home to the Oracle_BI1/network/admin directory as 11g apparetnly comes with a Oracle client as BIFACTs suggested in his/her reply. I put the same in the path variable
2) Try to ping the service_name tnsping service_name(SID) from command prompt
This works.
3) check whether you may have "white spaces" in tnsnames.ora file at starting of entry
No white spaces appeated
I still see the same issue! I logged in as developer credentials as mentioned the sample app documentation.
I get the same "cannot connect to database" error.
I once in a while see an issue with javahost not starting. Not sure what is the impact of javahsot not running and all the other managed processes running.
Please help....

OBIEE 11g Recent Reports in a custom dashboard

I have a requirement to put "Recent Report" of a user in a Custom built Dashboard. I know this functionality is available in OBIEE 11g home page. But our requirement is to put the same sections in few Custom Dashboards. Please let me know if this is possible

Ya i think it is comming due to null data, just restrict the data by specifying not null prompt or specific condition in the associate column Isnull(attribte,0)

Dynamic Text in SAP portal login page
