2) If I install Oracle 10g DB, does if create any compatibility issue while installing OBIEE 11g?
Thanks a million

OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 64 bit - Error while configuring????
Hi Experts,
I am installing OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 64 bit. And I followed below steps:
1. Installed JDK 64 bit.
2. Installed Weblogic Server with 64 bit JDK.
3. Installed OBIEE 11g - Software only Installation.
4. Ran configuration script. cofig.bat.
5. Configuration Wizard opened and during the configuration process(step 10 of 11) got an error. Refer below screen shot for the error.
6. I got the same error when I tried installing 11g on Win server 2003 32 bit and I installed JRocket MissionControl and reinstalled 11g and there are no errors.
7. So, remembering that I installed JRocket Mission Control 64 bit.
8. Un installed previous 11g.
9. Reinstalled 11g on Windows 7 64 bit.
10 And coming to configuration part it gave same error. Don't know what to do.............can any one help me at this point.

Thanks in advance,
DKHi All,
I've got the same error but with the installation of OBIEE 11g on Windows 32-bit.
I also tried to continue the installation, but I've got another error in the Executing: opmnctl start coreapplication_obisch1.
Even with those errors, I finished the installation but of course I've some problem with the presentation server and webLogic, becasue they're not configured properly.
Any idea how to solve the problem?
Thanks -
OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 (64 bit)
Experts,
I tried installing OBIEE 11.1.1.5 (both Simple and Software only install) mutiple times on my Laptop running Win 7 (64 bit), but all the times the installation hangs at "Creating domain", the first configuration step. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, I did all the pre-installation steps before running the setup.exe. Does anyone installed OBIEE 11g on Win 7 (64 bit). If yes, please suggest what other things I need to do for a successful installation
Regards,
SarvanHi
Even though officially this is not supported on Windows 7 OS, still we should be able to install it without any issues. I installed OBIEE 11g simple edition on Windows 7, 64 Bit OS and everything is working fine. Infact I used Oracle Express Database Edition 10g instead of full blown Oracle 11g database. I used this to run RCU to create 2 obiee schemas. It did took lot of time though on windows like around 50 minutes for the full installation which installed weblogic, obiee on top of this, then create a default domain named bifoundation. I could create some test reports, dashboards etc.
Here is another link that is also successfull in installing OBIEE 11g on Windows 7, 64 bit:
http://123obi.com/2011/05/obiee-11g-11-1-1-5-0-installation-on-windows-7/
I did not do anything special.
1. Download all the installers, RCU etc.
2. First in my Oracle 10g express edition, run RCU and create 2 schemas for OBIEE.
3. Run obiee installer and wait for about an hour. It came out successfully. Started the domain, started OPMN Services, started a browser with one url.
4. One thing is. I first installed Java/JDK 64 Bit version and put this in the PATH variable. So when I run java -version, it showed me this 64bit JDK. BUT even though I did this, internally the obiee domain still used its own JDK. I checked this in the startup script file named "StartStopServices.cmd" having one property like this:
JAVA_HOME=C:\Oracle\Middleware115BI\Oracle_BI1\jdk
And also under the domain root folder like bifoundation_domain/bin/setDomainEnv.cmd, I could see JAVA_HOME using the same above location.
Thanks

Problems installing OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit
Hi, I'm trying to install OBIEE 11g on Windows Server 2008 64 bit (standard edition, SP2), and it's blowing up running the installer. The installer gets past the first couple of "info" screens, but blows up prior to coming to the first "real" screen with an error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Assertion Failed:
Program: ...
File: ../../../src/share/native/sun/font/t2k/t2kstrm.c
Line: 132
Expression: pos <= t->maxPos
Has anyone seen this and/or have an idea how to work around this? Note that I did do the prerequisite download / install of the 2005 Visual C++ 64 bit libraries.
Thanks,
ScottJust to close the loop on this thread, this does indeed seem to be some sort of font / java issue on our servers. I've been completely unable to get the install to work using the GUI. However, if I run it from command line using the -silent and -response paramaters along with a proper response file, the install went perfectly. I'm going to continue working the SR with Oracle - don't want to be stuck using -silent mode when things get more complicated, but at least now I can move forward.
If anyone else has a better workaround - please let me know. "Silent" mode is workable, but difficult and time consuming.
Thanks,

Installing OBIEE 11g on Windows 7
Im having problems starting the installer for OBIEE 11g on Windows 7. I have changed the compatibility mode to every single operating system available but this does not work. I am also trying to run as Administrator. Thanks in advance
Make sure you have java and set to Windows path (and also classpath). I've done one Windows7 without any changes provided Java.

Issue with OBIEE 11g(11.1.3) Installation
I have installed OBIEE 11g last evening. I was able to connect to the dashboard and run a simple report also – all before shut down. Now when I try to access OBIEE 11g thru port :9704 after starting the BI services, I am getting the following error.
“Error 404–Not Found
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol — HTTP/1.1:
10.4.5 404 Not Found
My Weblogic server is working fine but im not able to access EM or ANALYTICS.
When I click Programs > OBI > Start BI Services it opens 3 wndows and says weblogic server is started and Im able to login to Weblogic server via “http://localhost:7001/console”.
When i start my machine the following services are started automatically:
1) Oracle WebLogic node Manager
2) OracleDBConsole
3) Oracle Service
4) OracleOraDB11g_home2_TNSListener
The following services are not started:
1) OracleDB11g_home2_ClrAgent
2) OracleJobScheduler
3) Oracle Process Manager(instance1)
4) Oracle VSS Writer Service
can you pls let me know how to start the Weblogic Admin Server?
I have even tried to reinstall and when the installation completes im able to login to “EM”, “weblogic” and “Analytics” also, but once i restart my machine im not able to login to “Analytics” as well as to “EM”.
The process im following is:
When i start the BI Services from Start->Programs->Oracle Business Intelligence->Start BI Services, i get a popup window where it asks for weglogic user and password, then i have entered the user as “weblogic” and has give the password entered at the time of installation, then 2 popups opens and it runs several java files, then im able to login to weblogic but no luck with “em” or “analytics”.
If i try to login to weblogic and try to start the “bi.em”, “biadminservices” i get java error message.
Even i dont get Oracle Logo on the Admin tool also.
Can you pls let me know the repository password also as i have tried with “Admin123? but no luck.
Every time when i do the installation im able to access all the services for the first time but once i restart the machine then only weblogic will be working.
I have installed OBIEE 11.1.3 on Windows 7 Ultimate N(32 bit) OS with Oracle11g Database
Pls let me know if im missing anything here?
Appreciate your helpThis is a really basic question... but how much memory do you have, and how long have you waited for all the processes to load? On a Windows XP Virtual Machine with 3GB, I have waited 20 minutes before being able to access. And until then, you will see the error you have received.
Just a thought... -
Has anyone had any success in installing OBIEE (11.1.1.5), DAC (10.1.3.4.1), Informatica (9.0.1 hotfix 2) and Oracle BI Apps (7.9.6.3) on Linux 64 bit?
We have been provided 2 physical Linux servers (say A & B) and 1 virtual server (say C) for the same. We were able to install obiee 11g on linux x86 machine (A). We were able to also install the Informatica server (9.0.1 hotfilx 2) and DAC server on the machine (B). As per e-delivery, Bi apps 7.9.6.3 is not available for linux x86_64 bit platform, hence we have downloaded for windows and planning to install on windows machine(C).
So i have followed this doc http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E20490_01/bia.7963/e19038.pdf section 4.1 for installaing. so it says to install OBIEE complete install(same one which we did on linux machine A) so when i started installing OBIEE enterprise install i am using the same dev_biplatform and mds schema details on windows too but it says it already exist on the database. so i got struck here. So what kind of install do we need to do on windows for OBIEE because after that when we perform OBIA installation we need to provide the OBIEE isntallation paths like webloic home, middleware home, etc so that it will create all the metadata files rpd,catalog,obia_bw.rep etc.
So once it is success i would move the OBIA respective files to linux machine A and B.
please help me with this.
Thanks,

stop the all services = opmnctl stop all
Start the services = opmnctl start all

Install OBIEE 11g on Windows 7 64 bit
Hi there,
I've gone thru the previous blogs on install obiee11g on windows 7 64 bit and after going thru all previous posts I got confused and I didn't get clear idea.
I have windows 7 home premium 64 bit OS..so can i install OBIEE11g with Administration tool and all works?
if not how about Windows 7 Professonal 64 bit OS...if it works then i can upgrade my OS to 7 Professional 64 bit.
Can anyone point me on this
your Help is greatly appreciated
skatHi skat,
Firstly i would advice windows 7 as such wont support, there are work arounds to install or mount on it but in long run it causes problems.64-bit is not supported for administration tool.
If it is other OS also admin tool should be installed only on 32-bit .......hope oracle releases it on 64-bit too in short time with only admin tool alone to get installed.
On windows 7 installation you get many blogs or forums to get installed.......Better to install on windows 2003/2008 server which output you better.
hope helps you understand.
Cheers,

OBIEE 11g On Windows 7 home- 62-Bit
Hi,
I'm planning to install 11G on Windows 7 home - 62 Bit.
Is RCU available for 62 - Bit.
Please help me in installing with steps & Pre-requisities.
Thanks for the help in advance.BI Administrator WILL NOT RUN in Win7-64 OS. We went round and round with Oracle on this because we wanted to do the same thing. Also, Oracle will not support installing it as a 32-bit app in a 64-bit OS. Microsoft claims that any 32-bit app can be installed in Win7-64 using their emulation mode, however we could not make that work either, but without Oracle support we decided to skip it. We could not understand why Oracle would include a 32-bit app in a 64-bit download package when the doc says clearly it must run only in Windows and only in 32-bits.
Curriously, however, it DOES run in Windows 2008 Server 64 bits. Go figure.

Ken

OBIEE 11g + Windows 7 64bit?
Hi everyone,
Quick question but has anyone been able to install OBIEE 11g in Windows 7 64bit?
I got the 64-bit Windows installer from (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/downloads/bus-intelligence-11g-165436.html). But every time I double click on the setup.exe, the DOS window pops up for about half a second and then disappears and nothing happens. I tried the 32-bit install but that quickly realizes that my OS is 64-bit and it gives up right away too.
Based on the certification matrix (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/bi-11gr1certmatrix-166168.html), it looks like Windows 7 32bit is supported but not 64bit.
In the past, there's always been some kind of work around or command line flag we could throw in to get it to install anyway. Anyone know a work around?
Thanks!
-JoeI am running Windows 7 Professional 64bits and the installer works fine on my PC although I have not tried installing OBIEE as I don't want to "contaminate" my PC with it so I am using a Windows 32bits VM. I suggest you upgrade your Java JDK/JRE to the latest version and also make use UAC is turned on and no AV software is running.

Error when trying to run the rcu.bat file as part of OBIEE 11g installation
when trying to run the rcu.bat file as part of OBIEE 11g installation on windows 7 64 bit I am getting the following error
"windows cannot find C:\Users\manoj\Desktop\Oracle.Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again".
Please help me how to overcome this error, I am not able to understand why it is looking for C:\Users\manoj\Desktop\Oracle.
Thanks
Manojafter setting the ORACLE_HOME and Path environment variables also....I am still getting the same error...so is it like RCU can be run only on windows 7 32-bit machines and it does not work on 64-bit machines? and also it seems like the previous versions of OBIEE 10.1.3.X does not support windows 7 64-bit machines...
please help me finding a solution to this error....
and what are all the versions of OBIEE can be installed on windows 7 64-bit machines?
can't we install OBIEE 11g on windows 7 64-bit machines without including RCU?
thanks

I checked FMW_SECURITY_SERVICE_URL parameter in the NQSConfig.ini file.
This parameter is using VIP (admin server listen to this) and not the actual IP of the server.
Should I change this URL and point it to actual IP.
What is the procedure to change this parameter using EM? -
OBIEE 11g as a service in windows
Here are the steps to configure OBIEE 11g as windows service.
Admin server and bi server needs to be configured as service.
Create boot.properties files with weblogic admin username and password in security folder.
Here are the changes I made to make it work. I created two copies of installsvc.cmd file in wls_home/server/bin and renamed them to be used in scripts and make changes.
One for admin server and other for node manager (bi server).
cmd file for admin server.
SETLOCAL
set DOMAIN_NAME=bifoundation_domain
set USERDOMAIN_HOME=D:\BI\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain
set SERVER_NAME=AdminServer
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms256m -Xmx512m
cd %USERDOMAIN_HOME%
call %USERDOMAIN_HOME%\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd
call "D:\BI\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\installSvc_Admin.cmd" --see comment below.
ENDLOCAL
Added delay parameter.(it is in milliseconds)
rem *** Install the service
"%WL_HOME%\server\bin\beasvc" -install -svcname:"beasvc %DOMAIN_NAME%_%SERVER_NAME%" -delay:120000 -javahome:"%JAVA_HOME%" -execdir:"%USERDOMAIN_HOME%" -maxconnectretries:"%MAX_CONNECT_RETRIES%" -host:"%HOST%" -port:"%PORT%" -extrapath:"%EXTRAPATH%" -password:"%WLS_PW%" -cmdline:%CMDLINE%
CMD file to start BI server and make it wait for the admin server to come up.
SETLOCAL
set DOMAIN_NAME=bifoundation_domain
set USERDOMAIN_HOME=D:\BI\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain
set ORACLE_BI_HOME=d:\BI\Oracle_BI1
set SERVER_NAME=bi_server1
set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
set ADMIN_URL=t3://hostname:7001 - if you are using ssl it is should be t3s
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms256m -Xmx512m
cd %USERDOMAIN_HOME%
call %USERDOMAIN_HOME%\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd
call "D:\BI\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\install_OBIEE_Svc.cmd"
ENDLOCAL
In install_OBIEE_Svc.cmd (copy of installsvc.cmd) file added dependency and delay parameter
rem *** Install the service
"%WL_HOME%\server\bin\beasvc" -install -svcname:"beasvc %DOMAIN_NAME%_%SERVER_NAME%" -dependency:"beasvc bifoundation_domain_AdminServer" -delay:12000 -javahome:"%JAVA_HOME%" -execdir:"%USERDOMAIN_HOME%" -maxconnectretries:"%MAX_CONNECT_RETRIES%" -host:"%HOST%" -port:"%PORT%" -extrapath:"%EXTRAPATH%" -password:"%WLS_PW%" -cmdline:%CMDLINE%
I have tested it and it works.
Provide feed back to this thread, works or fails. This allows me to update the comments with solution to any problem faced.

Have managed to run oc4j as a service as follows under xp pro
Download runexescv from http://www.judoscript.com/goodies/index.html
Unpack and run
Create service say OracleOc4j
Needs basic parameters setup
Cmdline and Home
My setup is
debug=false
cmdline=c:\ora9ias\jdk\bin\java - Dorg.omg.CORBA. ORBClass=com.inprise.vbroker.orb.ORB -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=com.inprise.vbroker.orb.ORB -Doracle.security.jazn.config=c:\ora9ias\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\config\jazn.xml -Doracle.home=c:\ora9ias -DORACLE_HOME=c:\ora9ias -jar c:\ora9ias\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar -userThreads -config c:\ora9ias\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\config\server.xml
( all from startinst.bat )
home=C:\ora9ias\j2ee\home\
Save and close
Oracleoc4j will now be set up as service
Change service to auto and start service !!
Appears to be neat and easy way of setting up an OC4J service
