Hi anto,
I would suggest and best recommendation is,there wont be any problems when you go with this.
As admin tool is 32-bit supported,even that would be feasible.I personally installed on this one without any errors.
Even Rittman Mead suggested this one in there blogs.

OBIEE 11g - BI Server Login

Hello Gurus
1. I have successfully Installed and configured OBIEE 11g suite.
2. I am able to connect and import meta data.
But when I go to BI Server home page (/obieehome) And enter username and password. It does not validate.
I have tried all username and passwords that came in as part of installation process but no luck.
I would think the default username DEV_BIPLATFORM should work, but no such luck.
So, now, I am not sure anymore which is the username I should be using in order to log in to BI Server home page. Any idea?
My weblogic console is just fine.

The OBI installation generated following file with all links. How can I know which username belongs to which link? I could not see a document anywhere on web that would tell me this. Thanks, R

Unable to Start OBIEE 11g Presentation Server

Hello All,
I am trying to Start the OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.6) Services. Checked EM, Presentation Server is showing Down. Not Started.
Tried to Restarted the particular service alone, but no use. Getting the below error messages...

Separate Server for OBIEE 11G Presentation Server

In version 10 of OBIEE many people put the Presentation Server and the OBIEE Application Server on separate servers. Is this architecture possible in OBIEE 11G using the new Fusion framework?

can your try to start presentation services alone via OPMN command, and then check the sawlog0.log lastest log message..
example mine,
D:\Oracle\Middleware\instances\instance1\bin>opmnctl startproc ias-component=coreapplication_obips1
opmnctl startproc: starting opmn managed processes...
check the staus and also log message
still if its not working try to reboot your server and then "start all services"

Hi,
Some admin server process is still running ....so check the process using ps command and kill the process and try to start again . When you kill the process all lok file will get removed.

Unable to Start OBIEE 11g Presentation Services,Javahost and BI Server

my friend installed OBIEE 10g and OBIEE 11g installed in same system.now i am unable to start OBIEE 11g obi server,presentation services,java host when i see in the properties presentation services ,obi server and java host in services.msc the path here is pointing to obiee 10g sawserver,javahost and presentation services.

OBIEE 11g environment going down.

Hi Experts,
Our OBIEE 11g Production environment goes down every now and then.
I want to enable some scripts wherein i can get a notification on the pager or email that my obiee environment is down.
So far we have no mechanism to know when is our environment down...
Any pointers in this regard will be highly appreciated.
Our servers are setup in Linux environment.

Ashish,
you have different 3rd party applications like sitescope, HP Open View etc. You might need to check with your company/alerts team who will setup these alerts for you.

OBIEE 11g and Weblogic on different Servers - Windows 2008 R2

Can we install OBIEE 11g(BI Server and Presentation Servers) on one server and weblogic and another server. We have a requirement where we need to differentiate all the components on to its own server for performance reasons. How can we do the configurations if we have installed on how to talk to weblogic after the installations.

Yes we can do that
a) Install BIS and BIPS on one server and deploy BIPS plug-in on Weblogic server where it is installed,so the both will talk with the weblogic server.

OBIEE 11g installation Issue - Demo Cert in production mode

Hello All, I installed OBIEE 11g along with Weblogic 10.3.5 on Linux 64 bit server. I searched entire <<MW_HOME>> folders and changed PRODUCTION_MODE to false in all possible .sh files. However, the error doesn't go away.
Is there any other location, I need to check for this flag?
Also, when I login to WebLogic console, Domains --> Configuration --> General .. I still see Production mode = true.

Any experienced how to enable SSO(Single Sign On) in OBIEE 11g, when the application platform is microsoft instead of Oracle EBS and the data source from SQL server 2005?

OBIEE 11g- unable to start application server

Dear All,
I have recently installed OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.6.0 for the first time (enterprise install)
am able to login to anaytics page and create reports, but Iam not able to connect to enterprise manger , console.
Going through various posts, i came to know i should start Application server.
which i was not able to. was getting error as
'unable to get file lock will retry'.
I tried deleting
Navigate to the path : <OBIEE HOME>/C:\Middleware\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp
“AdminServer.lok” file.
it still did not start
I try doing the same for “bi_server1″ lock file. but am not able to delete this file.
It says its in use. but i did not find any Java process running.
Can you please help. how can i start my Application server on windows OS.

Firstly we have shutdown the application for OS activity for creating mount point(related to Business)
then we where trying to start the application all the work process are running with semaphore 50 , there no such error mesg ,just the work process are hang at running state with user SAPSYS
the i have shutdown the application and clean the ipc and again i restarted the app still the same issue

Unable to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE 11G(on 64 bit Linux box)

We are unable to connect to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE 11G which is on 64 bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Infrastructure: OBIEE 11.1.1.5 64bit, on 64 bit Red Hat Linux Enterprise Linux 5.6 , MS SQL Server 2008 on 64 bit Microsoft Windows Server
Issue Description: Unable to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE11G RPD
Details: We are unable to connect to SQL Server 2008 from OBIEE which is on a 64 bit Linux box. We created the ODBC connection on Linux box to the SQL server. Whenever we try to import metadata it throws an error that says ‘Connection Failed’.
Here are the steps we followed to setup the ODBC connection on Linux box.
1) We updated the user.sh file with the LD_LIBRARY_PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64 values that point to $ORACLE_HOME/bifoundation/odbc/lib
This is where we found the driver for SQL server SEmsss23.so.
2) We updated the odbc.ini file with the entry for SQL server with the connection details

3) We updated the IDENTIFIER_QUOTE_CHAR with single quotes instead of double quotes in the DB features of the RPD
4) We updated the bash_profile file to point the ODBCINI variable to the path where the OBIEE odbc.ini file is present.

The error in nqsserver.log file says “[nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: IM002 code: 0 message: [DataDirect][ODBC lib] Data source name not found and no default driver specified.”

Make sure SQL Configuration Manager make sure the TCP/IP enabled. please try below method
Method 1
Re Create a new ODBC & Oracle Bi Server DSN Configuration test it and use it in the connection pools.
define your ODBC data source in your server where the BI Server is installed. Check your DB connections in your physical layer and make they are defined on your BI Server as well.
Method 2:
try using the complete TNS in below format in the datasource name section:
(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST =DB IP)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL) ) and provide the credentials.
Method 3:
To use the OCI call interface you need to have oracle client DB to be installed so that you can establish a connection using that DB credentials and connect to the remote dB and then import the tables.....this is the rule of thumb.

Issue - BI content server(11.1.1.1) not starting in obiee 11g:

Hello All,
BI content server(11.1.1.1) is not starting in obiee 11g after making OBIEE 11g services as windows service.
Services are starting when we do a Start BI Services from All Programs >> OBIEE. On the contrary, when we start from windows service "bi content server(11.1.1.1) not starting in obiee 11g" is not starting.
Can someone help me on this. In case if you need any more info, please let me know.

Below is the BI Script I used. Everything is in this script so no need to edit the installsvc file. Just edit the location/variables used as well as at the bottom change the name of the script and the log location. The BI_ORACLE_HOME variable needs to be set in the script.

OBIEE 11g after Scaleout BI Server is not starting up

Hi,
I am installing obiee 11g high availability using Horizontal scaleout, after scaleout i am not able to start BI server on instance 2
Please find the below error.

[nQSError: 71046] Cluster Controller startup error. Unable to establish listener on port specified in rpc port or monitor port field in cluster configuration file.
i was trying to modify NQSConfig.ini file RPC_SERVICE_OR_PORT = "9702'' to 9722 and restarted services, but after restart the services the port number is remain same 9702.
even i tried to change the port ranges also.
please suggest how to change the bi server port number.

Thanks for the posting. This works for me after I changed the port range from EM side, but need to bounce the entire weblogic (not only just opmnctl startproc ).
However, I am not sure why all of sudden this happened. When I did "netstat -a|grep 9702", I don't see the port was being used. But I'm glad at least this works, thanks very much for your posting.

BI Server not starting in OBIEE 11g

While starting the BI server from Enterprise Manager in OBIEE 11g I am facing this issue.
the details in the error log says.
[2010-09-15T05:45:58.000+00:00] [OracleBIServerComponent] [ERROR:1] [] [] [ecid: 00hvhkOQB^r0Vsk_Kxx0ie0001F^000000] [tid: 14d8] [43065] The connection with Cluster Controller SJRH-011:9706 was lost.
Could you please let me know how to solve this issue. Also the other components are also not starting.
Any pointers would be useful .

go to <middleware>/instance/../bin folder in the command prompt and try
opmnctl statusProcesses in Instance: instance1

see whether the cluster control is alive.. if the status is other than Alive.. try to restart the BI cluster controls from http://localhost:7001/em/
check the status, then start the BI presentation servers...
hopefully this should start the servers to 100%
