OBIEE 11g: Trellis Charts

Hi everyone,
I noticed the newest 11g patch has trellis charts which are basically chart is a pivot table format.
It has 2 options. Basic lets you do the chart into pivot table layout, and advanced lets you use sparklines. Sparklines let you intermingle numbers with small trend graphs.
So, I'm excited to see the new features, but it leaves me lacking something... I would like to be able to see horizontal bar charts with numbers depending on the measure. I don't see how to accomplish this. The basic trellis chart lets you just do all charts and no numbers, and the advanced only lets you do sparklines but no horizontal bar charts.
Anyone know how to get the best of both worlds?

Small series of charts doesn't solve the problem because the number of graphs is not predictable. The number of graphs depends on the number of categories or types or segments (or any dimensional value). In the Wikipedia example, Engineering, Operations etc.. are different dimensional values. In it there are 6 categories. But, there could be more which is not predictable.
Sad, that there is no such chart type.

Break for Horizontal Axis Labels in OBIEE 11g Bar Chart

I have a vertical bar chart created in OBIEE 11g. The horizontal axis (x-axis) is a compound of Scenario, Year, and Month. The chart width is already long enough so it cannot be made any longer.
The chart looks like this (the label of horizontal axis is staggered):

I could not try this yet, but how about 'Enabling the Contains HTML Markup' for the columns for Heading and including a '</br>' tag at the end of the name.
Ex: Column - >Properties -> column Format -> Column Heading -> Enable Contains HTML Markup -> Column Heading's suffix =less than symbol /br greater than symbol (Oracle forums is even break the line too!! ;) So included the text)

OBIEE 11g Pie Chart Settings /Axis titles

Hi,
In OBIEE 11g, it is not possible to change the Axis titles in a pie chart.
Does anyone know how to change it in the xml file?
Any feedback is highly appreciated.

OBIEE 11g pie chart showing the slices by different measures

Hi,
We are using OBIEE 11g. We have a requirement to show PO Met Count , PO Under Count, PO Over Count as a slices in a pie chart. However Pie graph in 11 g is slicing only by a dimension and not by the above measures. This was possible in 10g. I want to know if this a limitation in 11g or is there a way around this.

HI,
I tried to slice by measure by dragging the column to slice size section. I have 3 metrics PO Under Count and PO Over Count which add up to total PO count. So I want my pie to ahve 2 slices one for PO Under Count and other for PO Over count. However when I drag the 2 metrics, it shows me 2 pies, one for Over and the other for Under count.

Not able to see the charts in the default SampleAppLite webcat in OBIEE 11g

I have installed OBIEE 11g on my dekstop and it was installed successfully. Then i started the BI Services and login to the dashboard using the weblogic user and Pwd, everything is coming fine but charts are not coming. Do we have to start some Java services also. I restarted all the services also using em and it shows all services started successfully. Can you please help me regarding this.

It is historical data that i have uploaded into the infocube for Demand Planning Purpose.
I have recreated everything and uploaded the data again into the infocube, able to see the data in the infocube, created the MPOS, created the CVCs, Created the Planning Area, activated the Planning Area,assigned the infocube to the history key figure while creating the planning area, created the Periodicities, created the Planning Book. but still not able to see history in the keyfigure.

Bubble chart gradient fill in obiee 11g

when see the bubble chart in obiee 11g
i have't find any gradient fill option.
how i can apply gradient style to bubble chart.

If you mean a colour gradient in the background try:
Graph Properties -> Style -> 3D
This makes the graph look 3D but also adds a colour gradient to the background.
If this is not what you are after please supply more details of your requirement.

OBIEE 11g - help formatting graphs / trellis displays

Hi, in OBIEE 11g I'm trying to display a simple trellis graph of win % for various baseball teams over a 10 year period. On the trellis - I would like to NOT show the vertical scale or horizontal scale. I.e. vertical currently showing 20%, 40%, etc. up to 100%, and horizontal showing 2001, 2002, etc.
Is there any way to turn off the scales on the various axis? I can turn off the "labels" so that it doesn't put the word "Year" under the horizontal axis, but I haven't been able to figure out how to actually turn off the year values.
This pretty much holds even on a "normal" non-trellis graph - I can't see how to turn off the axis values there either.

Edit Graph properties - > Style Tab -> Grpah Data- Style and Conditional Formatting -> Conditional Formatting -> Add Conditional Formatting.
You can add Conditional Formatting similar to Column Properties.

Organizational Chart with specific colors in OBIEE 11g

How to create organizational chart in OBIEE? I tried to follow this link Oracle Business Intelligence by Sandeep Venu: Google Organization Chart in OBIEE 11G
but can't find out how to make specific chart (example chart of manager position) have a red color, the director chart have a green color.

This requirement sounds like it has a possible solution with some html coding. My idea is to :
1) Create a dashboard with two pages.
2) In the first page, create an iframe of the first dashboard.
3) In the second page, create an iframe of the second dashboard.
4) Customize the second dashboard page to have the custom background color.

OBIEE 11g: Chart showing Hand Symbol on Over

Hi All,
We've an issue with Chart.
Chart is currently showing Hand symbol when over the mouse on bars(Vertical or any type of bar) though no action link/drill enabled.
Customer doesn't want the hand symbol pointer as user thinks that there is some navigation enabled. It should be frozen and mouse pointer should be a normal pointer such that user think that there is no interaction & as frozen.
We tried setting Value No interaction in column properties & also checked with some CSS setting cursor: pointer in column properties. But these are working for Table view but not to chart..
I'm using OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5)
I also checked metalink but no use here.

Well, what beloblotskiy says above is true but I suspect you will want to pass parameters to your Google chart from your Answers request? If that is the case then it is more tricky because you would need to use some javascript in a narrative view and - here's the annoying part - there is a bug in 11g which means the narrative view does not accept HTML markup. It is due to be fixed in 11.1.1.4.

Obiee 11g Chart sorting issue

Hi All,
I am trying to plot a graph in OBIEE 11g answers which shows Calendar Month in X-axis and percentage of marks in Y-axis,
in such a way that Calendar Month in X-axis should be in the order Jan Feb Mar Apr .....(where as now it is Apr Aug Feb ... which is sorted in ascending order) Calender month is a calculated column in the report which has the following calculation
case when cal_month=1 then 'Jan'
case when cal_month=2 then 'Feb'
case when cal_month=12 then 'Dec'
How do i arrange the calendar month in a proper order of Jan Feb Mar .....

I've already mentioned OOB column to use, I'm not sure about your data. If you dont have it then might go for workaround to get number 1 to 12.
BTW:Existing column 'Col month' as referred is not helping you?
For ex: work around might be something like
cast(substring("Year",3,2) as int)

Implementing pyramid kind of chart in OBIEE 11G

Hi All,
We have reports developed in flash, where we have a pyramid report which is divided into 4 parts and top part will show no of partners associated to top 25% of bookings, and next part will show # of partners asociated to next 25% of bookings and so on.
Now we need to get this report done in OBIEE 11G, I see that there is no Pyramid view report in OBIEE.
can anyone let me know if there is any way to get this pyramid done in OBIEE11G
OR
suggest which report will best suite this requirement, if i go with other report types present in OBIEE11G...

Work around you can use Narrative view with HTML to get a pyramid kind of structure. not triangle one but rectangular boxes. You need to get html images rectangular,polygon and triangle in the HTML.
