Obiee 11g update GUIDs

Hello Everyone!
Few days ago I started to get invalid user/password when trying to login to OBIEE PS and when trying to open repository in online mode. I followed these steps to refresh GUIDs http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/core.1111/e10105/testprod.htm#CHDDJHHJ
But at step 4 I am not able to start presentation services. No log information is available as well. I am aware that the document do not have close tag for <ps:UpdateAccountGUIDs>UpdateAndExit<ps:UpdateAccountGUIDs>.
Has anyone encountered similar issue? Any kind of information will be helpful.

Presentation Services won't start with this tag on. You set it, restart all the BI Services, and then change the tag and restart the BI Services again. That's why it's "Update And Then Exit" - it won't start the PS with this tag.
Once you've started the services with this enabled, that's it - the GUIDs have been refreshed. Now you change it back - either remove the whole tag or I think you can set it to <UpdateAccountGUIDs>none</UpdateAccountGUIDs> and then restart the services.
If you're still not able to get in then this is not the problem and it's something else. But to refresh the GUIDs you set this flag and then have to remove it to get Analytics to work again.

Hi Friends,
I am facing problem while trying to refresh the GUIDs for the Presentation services during migration from DEV to QA
When I migrated RPD and Catalog from DEV to QA, the user weblogic was not able to login. So I modified the NQSConfig.INI file to make the below change
FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = YES*
and restarted the BI Servers. Now weblogic is able to login. So far good.
But When I login using weblogic and open 'My Dashboard' I get the following error access denied for user to path /users/weblogic/_portal/dashboard layout*
Reading the Oracle Documentation I see that the refresh of GUIDs need to be done for Presentation services as well. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10543/privileges.htm#CHDHGAAH
However I am not able to find *<ps:Catalog>* in the Instanceconfig.xml file. I can only see a similar one like below

Where should I add the below? I went ahead and put it just below the above. So that my file looks like below. Is this correct?

After saving the instanceconfig.xml , I used opmnctl to stop the Pre.Ser. Stop was successful But I am not able to start the ps. Why is that? Is it a problem with my new entry in Instanceconfig.xml?
Checking the log files, clearly says its the content of instanceconfig.xml causing the issue.

i hope u r version You don't need the ps: part either
If your using obiee11.1.1.3. the instansconfig.xml file it will show like this (ps: part either ) and obiee11.1.1.5. no more that ps: part in the instanceconfig.xml file

then
set it to *<UpdateAccountGUIDs>none</UpdateAccountGUIDs>* and then restart the services

Not able to update row count in Physical Layer..connection failed in OBIEE 11g

Hi Guys,
I am not able to do Update Row count in the Physical Layer, i am getting an error The Connection has failed. This is in OBIEE 11g Linux env.
I have put the tnsnames.ora file in the below path:
/*****/pkgs/linux/intel/OBIEE_DIT/MW_HOME/Oracle_BI1/network/admin/
I do not have admin under
/****/pkgs/linux/intel/OBIEE_DIT/MW_HOME/oracle_common/network/
But if i put the whole TNS entry in the Data Source Name i am able to connect:
(DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL= TCP) (HOST= xxx.xxx.com) (PORT= 1671))(CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = US1OBIEE)))
I am not able to understand the issue..

Looks like rpd is looking for local tns config... try to use as hostname:port/ServiceName
This should work, just in case not working! stop doing so since it is know issue.

OBIEE 11g is having " localedefinitions.xml " file at this Location C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\display
in my case i installed at C:\Oracle\MIddleware.
so
1- Stop BI Server from EM
2- Navigate to this Location C:\Oracle\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\display. in your case oracle home will be different
3- take a backup of this file localedefinitions.xml "
4- modify it and save
5- bring BI Server up.

Help Me: Issue with "Unable to Sign In" Analytics Of OBIEE 11g

Hi Friends,
I have Installed OBIEE 11g in Windows Server 2008-64 bit.I have installed through "Software Only" and ran the "Config Script".
while I was running "Config Script" , One Component was failed i.e "Executing : opmnctl start coreapplication_obips1 -----> Failed".
I just ignored that one and continue the installation.All were successfully created expect that "obips1".
Used Requirements for OBIEE11g:
Oracle 11.2.0,jdk-6u24-windows-x64,wls1033_generic,ofm_rcu_win32_11.1.1.3.3_disk1_1of1(RCU),OBIEE 11g 11.1.1.3.0.
All servers are up(NodeManager,WebLogic,BIServices,opmnctl) and the status of "opmnctl" also shows are are "Alive".
But here the problem is I am unable to login "Analytics" and even I am able to login "Console" and "EM".
I am getting an Error while I was logging to the Analytics i.e "An error occurred during authentication. Try again later or contact your system administrator".
can any one help out how to fix the problem to Login Analytics successfully .
and suggest me that need to add any patches or other ways to fix the problem.

Can you check to see if you are able to login to Admin tool using the sampleliteapp Repository? Try the below solutions. If your not able to login to Admintool also, then solution 2 is more likely to fix the problem
Solution 1: (Restart BI services )
Try to restart all the BI Services.
1. Go to EM
2. Click on Business Intelligence to expand it
3. Click on Coreapplication, then Capacity Management tab
4. Click Restart All
5. Once all the compnents are restarted, the logon is enabled using the new port number being set.
Solution 2: ( Refreshing GUID's)
Open the NQSConfig.INI file for editing. For more information, see "Where are Configuration Files Located?" in Oracle Fusion Middleware System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.
Locate the setting FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = NO and change its value to YES.
Modify the instanceconfig.xml file to instruct Oracle BI Presentation Server to refresh GUIDs on restart. Edit the file to add the last line in the following instruction.

<ps:UpgradeAndExit>false</ps:UpgradeAndExit>

The following components are involved: Oracle BI Presentation Server, Oracle BI Server, Oracle BI Scheduler, Oracle BI Cluster Controller, and Oracle BI JavaHost.
For information about using opmnctl commands, see "Using the OPMN command line to Start and Stop Oracle Business Intelligence System Components" in Oracle Fusion Middleware System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition.
Edit the NQSConfig.INI file to reset the FMW_UPDATE_ROLE_AND_USER_REF_GUIDS = YES to NO and restart the Oracle BI Servers.
Remove, set to none, or comment out the line (see UpgradeAndExit in the following example) added to the instanceconfig.xml file (that instructs Oracle BI Presentation Server to refresh GUIDs on restart).

OBIEE 11g install

I am trying to install OBIEE 11g on Windows XP with 4 GIG of ram and during Configuration it is failing at "Creating ASInstance" If I continue to configure then it also failed at " Executing: opmnctl start"

Can we integrate OBIEE 11g Analysis and dashboards to SharePoint server ? If yes could you help us guiding in right way of implementing this request. Any kind of help on this is highly appreciated.
Can we use existing Weblogic web server to build some internal web applications. (Work flow tools)

We have Ops users which they send the daily reports to Traders for approval. Based on the approvals, end of day data will be reload into DB for Month end reporting. Reports are generating from OBIEE 11g.

Error while deploying RPD in OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.3)

Hi Friends,
At times while deploying RPD in OBIEE 11g, I am getting an error, "_*Supplementary information regarding operation: DOMAIN, UNEXPECTED_ERROR;/tmp/zipped-directory.zip (Permission denied)*_".
We have installed OBIEE over a LINUX machine. I tried to locate this file in the server but was not able to find any such thing. This error happens at random and I am unable to predict the occurrence of this error.
Can someone guide me how to resolve this issue?

You have to disable the central configuration:

change the password if needed in the credential store ...

Seems your database listerner and opmnctl is down....first start these in your services pane and then try starting your BI server....but keep in mind close the admin tool if it is open .

Not able to import the data in OBIEE 11g

Hi Gurus,
I had just build a new development instance from scratch.
Q1) I am getting database connnection error on the Dashboard and when i tried to update row count from physical layer it also throws me an error, as i test i tried to import but i also got an error " The connection has failed", i am able to connect thru SQL Developer. Where does OBIEE 11g look for the tnsnames.ora file.
Q2.) Where and what setting do i need to so that i can add the users in the application roles by searching them in the EM, means the LDAP users. I had gone thru most of the stuff in the web but could not get thru.

SSO in Microsoft Application, SQL Server 2005 & OBIEE 11g

Dear Gurus,
Any experienced how to enable SSO(Single Sign On) in OBIEE 11g, when the application platform is microsoft instead of Oracle EBS and the data source from SQL server 2005?
I am new on this.

OBIEE 11g agents are failed to connect to Essbase

OBIEE 11g agents are failed to connect to Essbase. We are using :USER & :PASSWORD (SSO) in connection pool setting to connect to Essbase.
User account exists in both OBIEE and Essbase. OBIEE dashboards which are based on Essbase are working fine. Essbase variables in RPD are upto date.
Only agents are failing and error says invalid credentials, but dashboard pages are running without any issue.
OBIEE: 11.1.1.5 (BP4)
Essbase: 11.1.2.1
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 96002] Essbase Error: Login fails due to invalid login credentials (HY000)
Essbase and OBIEE services are up and running.
Any help will be appreciated.

We finally implemented CSS Token option and ended up with this error. We are unable to connect to essbase with CSS Token option.
We followed the Oracle document to implement this.
[nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: EPMCSS-00301: Failed to authenticate user. Invalid credentials. Enter valid credentials. (HY000)
We did update this property:

OBIEE 11g - How to create clean looking pivot tables

Hi, does anyone have a good way to clean up the appearance of pivot tables in OBIEE 11g? I'm a big fan of Stephen Few and firmly believe in the "minimize non-data ink" theory. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of stuff on OBIEE pivots that I can't easily clean up. Does anyone have ideas for:
1. How to remove the "gray" / "beige" coloring from column and row dimension? I opened a ticket with Oracle 6 months ago, and basically they've just responded that it is a "enhancement request" for a future version (aka not going to see it for a LONG time)
2. For my "across" dimension, I don't seem to have a good way to show the dimension name. There is an option under "column properties" to "display heading" - but when this is turned on it scrunches the heading up directly over the column that has the down dimension members. I really want this to go across the pivot.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Prompt to Report navigation - OBIEE 11g

Hello,
I've three tables (3 different requests) to be displayed in a page. Each of these tables has one identical column eg. project_name (but from different database tables).
My requirement :
1.I should have only one prompt to select the project_name at the first page
2.Only after selecting the project_name, the page should navigate to another page which displays all the three tables
Kindly let me know how can I get the prompt to report navigation done.

Only after selecting the prompt you have to show the reports means use the guided navigation.
Only after selectiing the Project_name , you can show your tables.
But this can be done on the same page not on other page as you needed.
