    Clustering helps in load distribution
There is a primary and a secondary server which share heart beet signals .. once clustered you wil have to create a DSN for the cluster on ur windows client. It would connect to the live repository (live repository will be shared in the cluster)
If the repository is opened in the online mode and clustering is working well then you will be able to see the clustering link enabled in the repository.
Process involves changing your nqsconfig.ini file .. details in documentation

  • Error while saving the OBIEE repository in AIX

    Hi,
In my current project OBIEE is installed on the AIX server. Now I need to migrate the rpd from one DEV to Test instance.
When I try to take the back up of the rpd and try to ftp the rpd I get an error-"Permission denied".
Has anyone faced this issue before?
    Thanks,
    Preeja

Sounds like you don't have permission to FTP to the destination directory

  • OBIEE 11g on AIX 32 bit

I have to start with installation of OBIEE 11g on a AIX server can some one tell me the best and the tested links for the same.
I have gone through the installation guide by Oracle and have few queries
    1. RCU for Unix is also a userinterface or these are specific set of commands
    2. For UNIX systems , does it always have to be a software installation type and for this Do I have do install weblogic diffrently and configure it differently
Any material with commands and screenshotss will be helpfull

    Hi,
I am assuming that you are going for 11.1.1.5,
    1. RCU for Unix is also a userinterface or these are specific set of commandsRCU is available on 32- and 64-bit Linux and Windows operating systems. Either theLinux RCU or Windows RCU can be used to create schemas on any supported
database. The sole purpose is to create the required schemas , details of which will be entered during the software installation.
    2. For UNIX systems , does it always have to be a software installation type and for this Do I have do install weblogic diffrently and configure it differentlyNo. You can go for other installation types too, depending on your requirement.

  • Strange problem with AIX server and windows clients

I am having a real bizzare problem with WLS 7.0.1 running on AIX 5.1 and
clients on windows. We have J2SE Swing application as a client.
If the client is w2k or XP, the first client gets good response. If I start
another client the second client is horribly slow (2 sec vs 16 sec). Even if
I kill the first client the second client continues to be slow. If I have 2
clients open together, the first one continues giving 2 sec response while
the second one continues with 16 sec. For that matter if I start another
client after shutting down first one I get slow (16 sec) response.
If the client is NT client I always get good and consistent response from
the server. Irrespective of how many client I have on the NT machine, I keep
getting good response. NT and W2K laptops are seating right next to each
other on the same n/w and infact the NT is a much slower and lessor memory
    machine than W2K.
We did similar tests keeping server on Solaris or NT server or W2K server,
and the clients "behave" normally i.e I get consistent repsponse time (it
may be slow or fast, but it is consistent and is consistent b/w NT and W2K).
We even tried putting my laptop on the same network as the AIX server, but
it did not help. Unfortunately some of our clients will be using AIX and
    W2K.

Sounds like a reverse DNS lookup or similar network timeout. Thanks for the suggestion, but then why would the first client on w2k or XP
get a better performance and the subsequent clients get worse performance?

  • How to access file from AIX server to windows

    HI all,
My question is how to represent file folder name of that server
my file folder in AIX server and i want to access that file in window s machine.
    * is this the right way to represent the data folder in physical schema declaration
    file:///<aix server IP>/usr/oracledi/oracldi/data

No, it is not. Filename magic alone will not do the job.
AIX supports NFS (network file system) or you can use samba (implementation of the Microsoft SMB protocol to share resources in Un*x) .

  • AIX 5.2 : how to pass password value while creating a user on AIX server

    Hi ,
Test connection is successful with AIX server , I can successfully create a user on AIX server, with defualt password.
I am not passing the any password value still some default value is being populated for the user...
In AIX while creating the user , use get force to set the password...
But while configuring the schema for AIX adapter ...if password attribute is given then it will give the error
as invalid attribute...while creating a user if password value pass...
how to set the password for the user..what attribute need to set for the password .
    thanks ..

The default password might be the IdM account password of the user you are trying to provision. You don;t need to keep password in the resource schema. Just set password.password and password.confirmPassword and select AIX resource for password reset. Check the workflow-form-views document for more information on password view.

  • Moving Oracle 9i database from AIX server to Sun Solaris 9 server

I want to move my oracle 9i database residing on AIX server to Sun Solaris 9 server.
The database residing on AIX server has the following features :-
    1. It is a production database.
    2. Running in NOARCHIVE LOG Mode.
    3. It was Live for few weeks, hence transactions are stored on it.
    4. It has one schema,around 700 tables & 129 views.....etc
    5. Huge downtime is affordable.
What is the safest way to do so ??
    Yachendra

    Hi Yachendra,
    1. It is a production database.
    2. Running in NOARCHIVE LOG Mode.By the way do you have any idea that PRODUCTION databases are always kept in ARCHIVE LOG Mode. It's is highly advice able.
    3. It was Live for few weeks, hence transactions are stored on it.If you are really serious about your data and don't want to lose anything and wants to perform CROSS PLATFORM you must make sure that you have all your achive logs.
my oracle 9i database residing on AIX serverYou have already got the solution regarding that. Maran has told you for EXPORT/ IMPORT and Burleson has given you enough documents to consult.
    Thanks

But is there any patch to install the OBIEE on Windows 2008 Server R2

    Hi Sk
I think it might be due to compatible issue. So check the properties of the install.exe file and change the compatability to windowsxp or windows 2003 ,then try to install .I think its going to work.Because i installed OBIEE10.1.3.4 on windows server 2008.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bring up Configuration Manager, look at binary path for SSAS.  Make sure BOTH folders exist.  Sometimes with failovers mappings get screwed up.

  • How to identify the physical IP address of AIX server on RAC Oracle 10g

    Hi All,
Could you please help someone to identify the physical IP address of IBM AIX on RAC db. I have access to the database and I don't know whether the hostname mentioned in the tnsnames.ora file is virtual or physical ip adress . Is there any command to identify the physical IP address of AIX server. My objective is to gain acccess to those servers. I am a bit confused by looking at the virtual IP, private IP and Public IP addresses in the documentation and I am relatively new to this area. Also note that I am a junior developer who is trying to learn some new stuff.
Please throw some lights on this.

I am assuming you have access to the servers indicated in the tnsnames.ora file. After logging into those servers, take a look at /etc/hosts files, which lists the IP addresses and its associated host names. See if that helps. Another option is if you don't have access to the servers, "nslookup <ip_address_from_tns.ora>" should list the server name associated with the given IP Address. If your SAs have followed the general naming conventions - you should see -vip at the end.

  • File datastore creation problem from window installed ODI in AIX server

    HI all,
My question is how to represent file folder name of that server
my file folder in AIX server and i want to access that file in window s machine.
    * is this the right way to represent the data folder in physical schema declaration
    file:///<aix server IP>/usr/oracledi/oracldi/data

    HI Julien,
    It's really working ..........
    Thanx a lot
For other people it will be helpfull info
Only change that I have made for that task are
    1. I have created an new agent for that AIX machine
    2. I have updated the ODIPARAM.bat
    3. I have changed record separator as UNIX while creating data store for that file
    4. While executing particular interface ,I have used the agent which is local to AIX machine ..................
    Steps for execution:
At the time of designing you must have local copy of that file so that you can perform your mapping once it's executing well wid your local or no agent .
then come to the Topology manager change the location for that folder in physical schema declaration of that file server of AIX machine.
Now execute the same wid ur AIX agent u have created earlier..............
while U have changed the data store location from local directory to other AIX directory don't try to reverse the same otherwise u'll get "Execution query failed "or file not found kinda error as because odi system system searching local systems file.................
Julien can u provide me ur mail Id so that I can contact U for further assistance ofcourse
    if u want................
    regards
