Im newbie to the OBIEE
can you please give the each components explanation.
i have installed obiee how to develop a report and publish that.

Apart from what rnm and Stijn said...what about simply taking the training to learn the basics? Asking questions without a base know-how can be dangerous if you don't fully comprehend what the answer entails.

Unable to make OBIEE components SSO enabled

Hi,
I have installed OBIEE 10.1.3.4 in windows env.
I tried to SSO enble all the components that comes within OC4J of cluster (ascontrol, bi office..).
From the OC4J instance admin security provider section, I checked all these applications to use SSO and JAZN (file based user repository).
This way only Appliaction server (ascontrol) got SSO enabled not the other components in the oc4j. Am I missing something?

After doing little research I found out that somehow I need to use SSPI to get the user credentials.
I have no idea how can I use SSPI in java. Please let me know if you know about any third party DLL that do this. Do I need to use JNI to use SSPI in java code?

Restart of OBIEE components are very slow...

when i use EM to restart the BI components, the process of restart is quite slow, sometimes will take between 2 to 5 minutes to complete.
On OPMN log, I see:

Hi,
1.make sure you have same ipaddress entry listed for FMW_SECURITY_SERVICE_URL in NQSConfig.INI present in windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
2.close all unused windows to free memory
3.stop opmn
opmnctl.bat stopall
4.start opmn
opmnctl.bat startall
and retry /reconfigure

Obiee 11g error

Hi All,
I am using obiee 11g for a demo project.When i a run the a report just with 2 columns from 1 from dimension and 1 from fact.It is throwing an error.the error message is
Query Failed: [nQSError: 14025] No fact table exists at the requested level of detail: .
I tried using foriegn key in bmm layer it is working fine.When i go for complexjoin bmm layer.The above error is coimng up.
Can anybody help me on this.

can you try the following sequence for startup.
It is the method I use to start up servers. Before you complete the steps below the following Windows Services should **not** be running.
a. Oracle Process Manager (instance1)
b. Oracle Weblogic NodeManager
1) Start NodeManager from the Command Prompt
Cd <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\wlserver_10.3\server\bin
startNodeManager.cmd
Wait till you see message "Secure socket listener start at port"
2) Start Admin server from command prompt
Cd <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\bin
startWebLogic.cmd
It will ask for user name / password, specify the user details that you have mentioned at the time of 11g install
Wait till you see message Admin server is in running mode.
3) Now start Managed server from GUI
Access WebLogic console from a browser
http://<machinename>:7001/console
Login, Environment > servers > Control > select bi_server1 > click on start
It would take some time for Managed server to start. Wait till you see Running status.
4) Now start the OBIEE components from command prompt
Cd C:\OBIEE\instances\instance1\bin
opmnctl startall

OBIEE 11.1.1.6 Query !!

Hi Experts,
I need to install and configure BI Publisher in HA mode. I want to use OBIEE 11.1.1.6 version.
Does that mean that I will have to install and configure all other OBIEE components though I just want to use BI Publisher ? Can BI Publisher be in a stand alone mode in HA if I select "Business Intelligence Publisher" In the Configure Components screen".
If yes, can anyone point me to documentations on what are the steps for configuring BI Publisher in HA mode because the one that I am following seems to include the entire OBIEE components.

It instal fine on Server1 but on Server two it always times out while "Starting the Scaled out Managed Server". I have followed the steps mentioned in doc 1333429.1 but still no avail.

OBIEE Objects do not appear when intergrating in ADF

hi,
I am trying to embed OBIEE components (analysis, dashboards etc) into ADF pages.
The BI Presentation Service Connection is build up successfully, and I can enumerate the BI Presentation Catalog.
However, after I drag&drop a OBIEE component into my JSPX page, I run the file but the OBIEE component do not show up in the page. (Other page components are fine,such as lables and buttoms)
No error is reported by Jdeveloper.
My environment:
Jdev 11.1.1.5.0
OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2

Desperating for any suggestion!!!!!
When I drag&drop the BI component, the Jdev log gets the following error:

You will find the available files:

However, you can also review them directly on the hard disk.

Unabe to start coreapplication_obips1 componenet in OBIEE 11g

This was working yesterday.. I did something today that is causing it to no longer start.. I don't know what, I have double checked the config files and nothing was changed..
Only thing I did was set up Proxy Act As.. which was working before I rebooted.. now the service wont start..
none of the logs really tell me what is wrong.. I have tried starting it from weblogic and looking at errors there..
I have also tried starting sawserver.exe described here Unabe to start coreapplication_obips1 componenet in OBIEE 11g
but that doesn't display any error, I just get a windows popup saying it failed to start.. (im on windows 2008 32bit)

We checked status of all OBIEE components using opmnctl command as below

Hi Merlin,
Few days back i faced the same issue .I installed the both 10g and 11g on same machind i bounced the presentation services and restarted the opmnctl its up!!
Dont know the reason all the ports are different.You can try to increase the scalability of presentation services to "two" and restart all services

OBIEE 11g: Blocking Analysis

I was working on setting up Blocking Analysis, I read up on this in the Oracle documentation at...

I originally setup a javascript file and a CustomMessages folder for the XML, restarted the OBIEE components. And it did NOT work.
So I decided to just do the simplest piece. I went into the answerstemplates.xml (Made a backup of Original File) file at Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\msgdb\messages and changed the Query Blocking call from True to show a Message. Below is what I updated it too (I replaced the HTML tags with the [] characters):
[WebMessage name="kuiCriteriaBlockingScript" translate="no"][HTML[script type="text/javascript"]function validateAnalysisCriteria(analysisXml)
return "Pick Another Subject Area!"; // by default, no checking is done
}[script][HTML][WebMessage]
So the original text was set to return True.
This is all I did, in my mind any query that a user attempts to run should get the message.
I restarted all of the OBIEE components. Ran a query and data was returned. No message.
Has anyone implemented this successfullly? I feel I am doing the easiest change to validate the expected behaviour and it still does not behave as expected.

Changing the following line from
return true;
to
return "Pick a Subject Area";
I am on IE 8 and have tried this in 11.1.1.6.0 and in 11.1.1.6.8 (We are in the process of moving to this version). I updated the answerstemplates file in the messages folder, restarted Presentation Services. Cleared browser cache.
I am able to run ad-hoc queries and get results with no custom message.

OBIEE 11g: Error 500

For OBIEE 11g, I changed the reporsitory to Paint. And also the catalog path by logging into enterprise manager. After restarting the services and went to the url and it gave this error.

Diffrence between Oracle BI Publisher and OBIEE

Now iam using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). I want to migrate SSRS to Oracle Reports.
I want to know the diffrence between Oracle BI Publisher and Oracle Business Intellingence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE).
Which one is the best tool to generate Reports.

I want to install it in High Availability mode. Does that also mean that I will have to install and configure other OBIEE components along with BI Publisher ?
Any pointers would be highly appreciated

OBIEE 11.1.1.6 Production Environment on AIX

Consultant from Oracle installed OBIEE on three AIX machines.One is database server,web logic and OBIEE server installed on one machine, Informatica and DAC server installed on one machine.Ii is our Dev environment,My boss is planning for Production environment.
To build production environment, Do we have to start the installation process from the beginning or is there anyway we can copy from existing Dev environment

The process is basically setting up a Secure Shell (SSH) and then using RCP or SCP to copy files over. Again, details can come from a System Administration expert. Also, you may need to change some things around once the OBIEE components are moved to a new server.

OBIEE analysis integration into ADF pages

I am trying to embed OBIEE components (analysis, dashboards etc) into ADF pages. I have downloaded all extensions required.
and have created connection to OBIEE Server, when i am trying to check the connection(BI Presentation services), its giving the following error
Failed to validate the xml content. SchemaLocation: schemaLocation value = 'http://xmlns.oracle.com/oracleas/schema/11/jps-config-11_1.xsd http://xmlns.oracle.com/oracleas/schema/11/jps-config-11_1.xsd jps-config-11_1.xsd' must have even number of URI's. Location: unavailable.

Seperate OBIEE installation and Weblogic Installation

Hi,
Our requirement is to setup the HA system in the Production for the OBIEE. We have Admin server as active-passive on the 2 OBIEE instances.
We trying to setup the high availability of the Admin server as per the Oracle Enterprise Deployment guide. If I setup that and manually failover the Admin server the user cannot login if the Admin server is migrated to second application server.
So our next option is to install the weblogic on the NAS shared storage and scale out the OBIEE components on the 2nd Application server so that Active-Passive Admin server can access the same settings on the shared storage. So the question is it possible to separate the weblogic and OBIEE installation directories separately in order to achieve high availability.

The URL will be exactly the same as a Windows installation but will have your Unix server name. You will need to learn how to start and stop the OBIEE services and OC4J in Unix. This is pretty well documented on the Infrastructure Installation and Configuration Guide.

Reinstall OBIEE

Hi:
After apply the 11.1.1.6.2 OBIEE patches, our test instance is really messed up. Weblogic starts up but it has errors. Enterprise Manager show "no data" in the pie chart meant to show the status of the OBIEE components. I feel that I need to reinstall OBIEE.
Can anyone offer any cautions or problems I may face with doing this reinstall?
