OBIEE Dev VM Install Issue:Cannot open archive "ARCHIVE.zip" as archive
All,
I downloaded all eleven files for the OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2 BP1 - Sample Application (V207).
I checked the MD5 Sum of the first two files and the MD5 Sums match, however when I use 7zip to extract the files, I get an error that says: Cannot open archive "ARCHIVE.zip" as archive
Has anyone encountered this issue? I verified that the files are not read-only and that they are not "blocked" by Windows.
I am running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Edition on a Dell laptop.
I encountered this error on two separate archives with correct MD5 Sums.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
Nathan
Hi,
I got the same problem. Have you found any solution for this? Thanks.

How do I resolve the issue Cannot open the file ".indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing , or the file may be open in another application?
Shouldn't the CC version be able to open any file created in an older version on InDesign?
Yes, it ought to.
If the older file wasn't yours (if someone emailed it to you,or burned it on a disc, or whatever), then I am almost willing to bet you a beverage in the city of your choice that it's not a complete InDesign file. That is, maybe it was zipped and renamed, or the beginning or end of the file was chopped off during download, or something like that. The only reason I'm not actually making the bet is that there is a remote chance that I'd lose, and maybe you're in Adelaide or Khabarovsk or somewhere where the cost of airfare to me would make that bet a very expensive bet for me to to lose. So no latte for you if I'm wrong!
The script that Jongware posted will tell you what version of InDesign made the file to begin with. Additionally, if someone did something like rename YourFile.PDF to YourFIle.INDD, it'll report that it's Not An InDesign File. Because while SpectrumPCS is kinda right and that message can be generated when attempting to open a CS5 file in CS3 or whatever, it also spits out the same message when you just try to open an Autocad file, or a Windows system file, or a PDF, or any file that InDesign actually cannot open at all. -
Good One - "ORA-00308: cannot open archived log", No Recovery Going On
Folks,
Oracle 11gR1 SE cluister in archive log mode. Every hour I scp old logs over to a different server and nuke the ones so archived. I always switch the log destination to a new directory before moving and nuking, so I'm not touching logs being written to. Every once in a while I get;

This seems to happen after a core dump (memory leak?). No recovery is going on and the database functions normally afterwards.
Why would the database try to access old log filles when not recovering?
Thanks,

Error Message when installing updates: "Cannot open file (-3001)"
I have a MacBook3.1. with Mac OS 10.5.7. Three days ago I installed 5 to 6 updates for iTunes, iDVD, AirPort Express, Java, etc. After the installation, I could not access the internet because my AirPort wireless on the Mac was off (non-existent). I could not even scan for my network. I could not access iTunes, in fact when I opened iTunes, the application got stuck and I could not even "force quit" the application. I went to the Apple Store and was told to Re-install the original OS discs (10.5) received with the MacBook, which I did. After the installation things seemed to be back to normal. I was able to access the internet, etc. However, I could not open iTunes because and I paraphrase "the iTunes version that created/supported the application is not.....". OK so I need to update the software. Now, when I tried to update the software with the newly installed "re-install" 10.5 OS I received the following message:
"A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
Meanwhile, I was searching the internet googling the above message. So internet access was not the issue. I decided to create a "test" admin account to see if I could update from another account. Low and behold, I was able to access and update each new software update from the new "test" account and ultimately open iTunes from my personal (main) account.
Very confused and could use some guidance. Any ideas?Welcome to Apple Discussions:
My general rules:
Never install more than one update at a time - especially those requiring a reboot.
Whenever possible, use the manual updates and for OS updates, always use the manual combo update.
If a problem does occur, reinstall any "bad" updates with manual updates. Yes, they can be reapplied.
Again, one at a time. -
Mail issues, cannot open or close
I cannot open my mailbox. I click on the stamp with the eagle on it, and on gray bar where things open up it says "mail", but i cannot write or read messages, and i cannot quit the application. No content is shown, no emails or anything. It is just my computer background. I tried to quit mail, but it will not let me do that. I cannot restart my computer, because mail is not closed. So if mail will not fully open, yet it is open enough to not be able to restart my computer without quitting, but there is no quit option and the commandQ button is not working ,how do i go about getting rid of this problem??
You seem to have some serious flaws on your harddisk.
Do you ever run maintenance software (e.g.
MacJanitor) or switch off your Mac every day? It's
doing some maintenance by itself in the middle of the
night if you leave it on.
This reply gets more & more detailed, just begin with
the first instructions and see of that helps. If not,
work down the list of suggestions or post back for
more instructions.
Run Disk Utility - Repair Permissions and if that
brings up a whole set of issues, try something more
serious like Disk Warrior.
MacJanitor (free)
DiskWarrior
(not free)
If you want more details on these problems, have a
look here for
Resolving Disk, Permission and Cache Corruption,
it gives you a comprehensive description of how to
deal with these problems. Plus some notes on side effects of cache cleaning
Useful Cache cleaning programs:

Tiger Cache Cleaner not free
OnyX

Thank you for your very prompt reply. I will follow your suggestions and post back. No, I do not use any other programme such as you have suggested. I usually put my computer to sleep overnight.
However, maybe I have discoverd a clue. When I opened e-mail Back Up just now, I got a message:
"Please finish editing and close the editing window before openiong a back up."
I fear I may have been working on an e-mail while thye Back Up was in progress. Coulod this have been a cause?
I also note that my back up programme dialogue box now tells me that there are no scheduled back ups for e-mail or for my home folder. I hesitate to instruct it to continue with back ups until I find out whatt the problem is.
Your help is greatly appreciated. -
[sovled] gnome3.12 locale issue, cannot open gnome-terminal
I update gnome from 3.10 to 3.12, everything works fine except that I cannot open gnome-terminal, the error message shows
(process:2410): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
Using the fallback 'C' locale.

The other problem is that I cannot start fcitx(I use it to input chinese) either, there is somethings wrong in my locale, when I type 'locale ' it shows
locale: Cannot set LC_CTYPE to default locale: No such file or directory
locale: Cannot set LC_MESSAGES to default locale: No such file or directory

I try to reinstall the glibc or regenerate the locale-gen, but none of them solve the problem, so can anyone help me? thanks.
Last edited by wntyygtwxf (2014-04-11 10:25:48)I have resolved this issue. The reason I guess is also "locale"
"$localectl" output "System Locale: n/a" and I check the /etc/locale.conf I found this file is lost.
So after I press below command and reboot the machine, gnome-terminal could be started.
# localectl set-locale LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
Thanks all!

I am running iphoto 5.0.4 (which I think is the newest version) on OS 10.3.9 (Powerbook 1.5Ghz).
When I try to start iphoto, I get a (German, so this is a rough translation) warning:
YOU CANNOT OPEN YOUR CURRENT ARCHIVE WITH THIS VERSION OF IPHOTO.
YOU HAVE CHANGED YOUR ARCHIVE WITH A NEWER VERSION OF IPHOTO. PLEASE STOP THE PROGRAM AND USE THE LATEST VERSION OF IPHOTO.
which I think I do.
any idea?Oliver:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did you have any unusual occurrence with your Mac just before this happened or did you perform any software updates of any kind just before? Other have gotten this message for no apparent good reason also. Right now all I can suggest is that, after making a backup copy of the iPhoto Library folder as a precaution, launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. I'm hoping it will go into the rebuild mode before it gets to the place in the launch where it will give you that message. Right now I don't know if that is possible.
I think the only option that needs to be selected is the rebuild database one. Good luck.

I upgraded from mountain lion to the OS X Mavericks and my EndNote X5 can not open.I re-installed it but cannot open. I keep on getting the message "Unable to load EndNote X5: Applications/EndNote X5/EndNote X5.app/Contents/Encore.bundle" can anyone help?
Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Test after each one. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Make sure that the right volume is selected in the Startup Disk preference pane.
2. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up. If there's no change, reconnect them
3. Reset the System Management Controller.
4. Reset the PRAM.
5. Start up in safe mode, then restart as usual. If you can't start in safe mode—for instance, if FileVault is active—then triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/var/folders
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu. A Finder window should open with an item named "folders" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your administrator password. Restart and empty the Trash. -
Issue: Cannot open message catalog LIBTUX_CAT
Hello
I am using a webservice that connects through Tuxedo. Tuxedo starts ok but when I call my service I receive the following error:
[13 Feb 2009 14:05:13 GMT][WARNING][][##: Exception raised in setting up security : : RemoteException : ][receive() failed (TUXEDO ERROR [12]: NLS:4: Cannot open message catalog LIBTUX_CAT, set 1, num 1322; check TUXDIR=/app/isel/tuxedo , LANG=C

I googling for a while but could not get a clue to solve this.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
JHi J,
Sorry, I'm still not following. When you say:
"2 - My service receives the call and calls to another webservice in a AS/400 using Tuxedo."
Are you saying you've written a Tuxedo service that makes a Web Service call to another Tuxedo service running on an AS/400 system? Let me try and ask some specific questions:
"1 - I call my webservice using SOAP UI"
What SOAP client are you using? Where is the Web Service you are calling running and what's it running under?
"3 - Inside the AS/400 that receives the call there is a TR application that calls a Listener Service that calls a cobol application."
What is a TR application?
In any case, as I said, the error you are getting is a TPESYSTEM error which should result in an entry being made in the Tuxedo ULOG file.

User Account Issues - cannot open certian programs!!!
I have a MacBook Pro 3.1 operating 10.5.8
it is set up on an active directory and the network admins are set to administrate the machine.
However, the user has administrative rights but cannot open itunes or iphoto because of the error
"The folder "+program name+" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder"
how do i get rid of this and allow the user to have full control of the machine?AzN Invasion wrote:
"The folder "+program name+" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder"
That sounds like another user has the same iPhoto or iTunes library open in his own account. iTunes and iPhoto libraries can only be accessed from one user account at a time, unless one is using the built-in sharing features (iTunes or iPhoto preferences -> sharing). -
When attempting to download the new version of itunes I was able to complete the download without a problem but cannot open the icon when everthing is done. I unistalled everything and reinstalled, I followed all the trouble-shooting guides, I attempted to download an older version and nothing is working. Prior to attempting to download this "new and improved version of itunes" everything was working fine. Unfortunately I had to update when I got a new iPhone and wanted to sync it to my old library and needed an updated version of itunes.
Restart Computer.
