when i trying to open the BI ODBC client i am getting RDO error.
Can any help me out from this issue..
thanks

Hi,
Have you added the tnsnames.ora to your OBI11g environment? If not the path is: <obi 11g install dir>\Oracle_BI1\network\admin.
Looks like OBI11g comes with a client or something.
What also works is pasting the complete tns entry into the connection.
That should get you connected to your database.

But is there any patch to install the OBIEE on Windows 2008 Server R2

    Hi Sk
I think it might be due to compatible issue. So check the properties of the install.exe file and change the compatability to windowsxp or windows 2003 ,then try to install .I think its going to work.Because i installed OBIEE10.1.3.4 on windows server 2008.

Hi Guys -- Am finally able to install OBIEE11g...
Provided in the link were the pre-requisites that you need to make 100% sure for windows 7 64 bit install.
    http://oraclebi.blog.com/obiee-11-1-1-6-installation/
Coming to the Issues I made...
For Enterprise Edition Installation (Option 2 in the graphical user interface installation screen)*
    1.) I had "jdk1.7.0_10" installed in "C:\Java" folder.
When trying to install OBIEE 11.1 it install weblogic version "10.3.5" as this is not compatible with "jdk1.7.0_10" had Issues.
    For Software Only Install*
1.) I had to download and install "wls1036_generic.jar" from OTN.
You need to make sure that you install it by following the below steps but not just by double clicking it... because it is doing a kind of 32 bit installation when double clicking (yaa that's strange) even though you were expecting an 64 bit.
    a.) open command prompt
b.) go to the folder where "java -jar wls1036_generic.jar" was installed
c.) Then run "java -jar wls1036_generic.jar"
    Other Issues*
1.) Turn off Windows fire wall during Installation.
    2.) Uninstall Antivirus
Not sure about the credibility of the above two points, came across some websites am tired of trying all the options and at one point.. I turned them off and never turned them back on...
Source*:::: Various Websites based on the different errors and mix matching the Info, trying different options to solve an error/Issue.
Hope this is helpful to someone..... I Still say the Installation is not as straight forward as other BI Tools in the market.

  • OBIEE 11g 64-bit install on Windows 64-bit

I wanted to solicit any experiences that the user forum is having with installing 11g on a 64-bit Windows platform. I understand that the Admintool/Job Manager will not run with the 64-bit installation package but we can install the newly released Client install to circumvent this. I am seeing many forums out there in which the 64-bit OBIEE install is done as Simple or Enterprise. My understanding is that this is useless as the bundled WebLogic utilizes at 32-bit JVM. There is a Doc ID out on Metalink (ID 1220564.1) that states one can only do a Software Install. So we have proceeded with the following steps of downloading first the Java 64-bit JVM, then a WebLogic instance utilizing the 64-bit JVM (java -D64 -jar xxx.jar) and finally the OBIEE Software Only install.
The issue we are running into is that the Install fails when attempting to start the OPMN. So during the install the "Executing:opmnctl start coreapplication_obips1
" fails and references the OPMN not starting. We are unable to start the OPMN service as well. We have a static IP, so this not the known issue with the loopback adapter. The other issue I saw was having to install the VC++ 2005 SP1 libraries per another Metalink Doc ID (1226254.1). This was all done, however, the install continues to fail.
It seems the lack of knowledge from support as well as the vague/lack of documentation is frustrating. I just wanted to ping the OTN community around this scenario.

Thanks Paul, really appreciate the update. Spent this morning rebuilding our environment with 64-bit (Win 2008) and starting from scratch. The install has now succeeded. I tell you one thing you pointed out is something we noticed when we proceeded with the second install. That was the WebLogic version. I had initially used .4 and on the second install we used .3. I am guessing that this may have been the issue.
I will verify with our Oracle resources and I hope this post will assist other when doing the 64-bit install as I think it is very vague in the documentation.
I will update the post with Oracles response as well.
Just as an FYI... the reason this issue came up in the first place was we did an Enteprise Install on 64-bit and found that the Gauge Charts weren't working in the SampleAppLite Subject Area. So I will add that to the Tags for this post.
Hope this post helps others and they don't go through the headaches of a wrong install type.

  • OBIEE 11G 64-Bit Windows LDAP Admin Server Startup Issue

    All,
I have OBIEE 11G installed on 64-bit Windows, and can see all my LDAP users inside Admin Console just fine. When I reorder my LDAP above the DefaultAuthenticator, and make them both 'SUFFICIENT', my Admin Server no longer starts. It hangs on a line in the AdminServer.log that roughly says '<Security initializing using security realm myrealm.>'. Has anyone ran into this? If so, how do you get the Admin Server to start with a non default LDAP authenticator? I've tried re-ordering numerous ways with the DefaultIdentityAsserter in the middle and at the bottom; I've also tried switching the Control Flags on both with REQUIRED and OPTIONAL, all to no avail. Finally, I tried deleting out the DefaultAuthenticator all together, and it still won't start. At this point, I'm assuming this is another 64-bit issue that was not tested properly. Any thoughts/help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Josh

    Paul,
Unfortunately that made no difference. I have pasted in the startup log below. Perhaps someone has some insight into what's happening?

  • Unable to Install OBIEE in windows 7 32 bit

  • OBIEE 11g + Windows 7 64bit?

    Hi everyone,
Quick question but has anyone been able to install OBIEE 11g in Windows 7 64bit?
I got the 64-bit Windows installer from (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/downloads/bus-intelligence-11g-165436.html). But every time I double click on the setup.exe, the DOS window pops up for about half a second and then disappears and nothing happens. I tried the 32-bit install but that quickly realizes that my OS is 64-bit and it gives up right away too.
Based on the certification matrix (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/bi-11gr1certmatrix-166168.html), it looks like Windows 7 32bit is supported but not 64bit.
In the past, there's always been some kind of work around or command line flag we could throw in to get it to install anyway. Anyone know a work around?
    Thanks!
    -Joe

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64bits and the installer works fine on my PC although I have not tried installing OBIEE as I don't want to "contaminate" my PC with it so I am using a Windows 32bits VM. I suggest you upgrade your Java JDK/JRE to the latest version and also make use UAC is turned on and no AV software is running.

  • Installing OBIEE on Windows 7, quick questions

    Dear Experts,
Last year, I struggled installing OBIEE on Linux 5.5.
Now I want to install it on Windows 7 Ultimate.
It will be stand alone, for my own use only.
Both a client, and a server.
    Some quick questions:
    1)
Does the Windows server need to have a Domain (as Linux did)?
(I'm having some trouble with the same dummy domain that worked fine
in Linux, since it doesn't exist on the web.)
    2)
Does the Windows server/client require a loopback adapter?
If so, does it require a static IP?
    3)
Does the windows server/client require a static IP address?
    4)
If static IP addresses are required for both 2 and 3,
is the static IP address supposed to match, or be different?
I hope these questions aren't too dumb. But I haven't found
anything online addressing them for windows yet.
    Thanks a lot!

    3. before installing software you have to give full permissions to everyone on your installation location drive (C drive or D drive).
    4.Create Looppack Adapter.
    5. Database installation 11g 64 bit.

  • OBIEE ON WINDOWS 7

    Hi,
Does OBIEE 10g work well on windows 7.I mean does it give any issues of any sort .If any one has tried it full fledged on WINDOWS 7.
Edited by: ashwini on Apr 12, 2011 1:32 PM

What version of Windows 7 are you using 32 or 64 bit? If 64 then the BI Administration tool will not work.
There are also some steps you need to take to install OBIEE onto a Windows 7 machine as it isn't supported.
    That being said here's a link to installing 64 Win7: http://www.mycabi.net/?p=19
The process is almost the same as what gets done with 32 as well.
    Hope that helps,

I tried to install "as administrator", but it did not worked. Copy the install folder to the C:\, run with comtatibility with Windows7 and got the same error.
I install the same OBIEE on other servers and it was no problem to install.

    Hi Agha,
Yes, You can install a Windows 2008 Enterprise R2 machine as additional domain controller  along with Windows server 2008 Enterprise SP2 DC's. There will not be any issues.
Before you add a domain controller that is running Windows Server 2008 R2 to an Active Directory forest run Adprep.exe from the Windows Server 2008 R2 media on your existing domain controllers to prepare your domain and forest.

  • Migrating flat file in OBIEE from Windows to AIX

    Hello guys
I have a rpd built in my local windows environment and now it is ready to be pushed into Dev environment.. In my rpd, I have some flat files imported and configure for reporting, and the files are located in a windows directory..
My concern is, after migrating my rpd to Dev environment, since the DEV OBIEE server is running on AIX server, it may disconnect from flatfile DB in windows and result in no being able to report against the flat file..
Have you guys ever encounter such case? and how do you go about dealing with it?
    Your thoughts are much appreciated
    Thank you

    Mark,
You should be able to binary transfer the fmb / pll across and then recompile.
Anything windows specific would be a show stopper, otherwise I haven't had problems (also going back from Link to Windows) - but then my Forms are usually pretty simple.
The biggest pain is case sensitivity - Unix is and Windows isn't. You should standard all file names if you can and the biggest pain are the attached libraries - especially with Designer Generated Forms as one of them is InitCapped somewhere. For this I usually have to create an FMT / PLD and see what the form thinks the library is actually called in the attachment. Have fun!

  • Which windows bit to use with parallels

I'm a Newby, and I"m looking to use Parallels with my new Mac Pro 13" duo processor I7.  So, I need to get Parallels and was looking at a Windows 7 OEM disk.  Never have thought much about 32 or 64 bit, what's the difference and is one better then the other for everyday computing?

Hi  for what it is worth ...
I am using a MacBook Pro with 8G ram, and due to some of the applications I have to run for work, I run Parallels and Windows 7 64 bit
I find the Windows platform VERY stable.  I went for Parallels, as I want to run Windows inside my Mac environment, and bit not want to dual boot i.e. have to shut down programs to switch from one to the other.
All the updates work very well, all the applications I run in the Windows environment are stable, and cause me no problems at all.
Everything on the MAC runs well, with no effect on the processes.  When I plug anything into the USB ports, I am then given the option if I want teh device to run in the Mac environment or the Windows,
    Hope that helps

  • Installing OBIEE on windows xp home

I want to get the tool formerly known as Siebel Analytics.....gathered i have to install OBIEE first....this I tried to do, downloading from edelivery.oracle.com
..But i get an error....wasn't sure if OBIEE can run on windows xp home....a friend did say it can...
    can someone help me out...
    thanks...

If you just want to install it on XP to familiarize yourself with the functionality in OBIEE, don't bother with Apache (or IIS). Select the "Basic" installation option when prompted on one of the first installation screens. This will create a very simple self contained OBIEE environment for you and you should be up and running within 30 minutes. For development purposes, we have installed OBIEE inside a VM (on XP) using the basic install and found this to be a very workable solution.

  • Installing OBIEE on 64 bit Redhat Enterprise Linux 5

    Hello,
We have a 64 bit Redhat Enterptise Linux 5 box, and I installed on it the 32 bit Oracle Database client as well as the OBIEE software.
The 64 bit installation requirements state: "For 64-bit Linux system installations, you must use the Oracle Database Client 32-bit libraries."
However, the installer never prompted me for the location of the 32 bit Oracle Database Client libraries.
How can I make sure that these libraries were indeed used during the installation?
    Thank you very much.
    -sb

The installer does not reference any libraries. You will need to place them in the correct or refer to the Database client libraries via your system path for your Server to work correctly.
