OBIEE Oracle VM

Hi,
I'm trying to deploy the OBIEE VM provided by Oracle http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/obiee-samples-167534.html
I have downloaded all 11 archives (and unzipped them with 7zip), as well as the ovf file. I also have installed VirtualBox on my server (window 2008 R2 Enterprise).
In VirtualBox, I click File/Import Appliance. I select my ovf file, work fine, shows me the settings of the VM. Then when I click Import I get the following error message:
Failed to import appliance: D:\VM\OracleOBIEE\SampleAppv207_OBI_BP1.ovf
Could not open the medium storage unit : D:\VM\OracleOBIEE\SampleAppv207_OBI_BP1-disk1.vmdk
VD: error VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND opening image file D:\VM\OracleOBIEE\SampleAppv207_OBI_BP1-disk1.vmdk (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)
First thing, although my archived unzipped without error, the final file is another zip. When I try to unzip it I have the error: Cannot open as an archive. Am I suppose to change the extension of the result file ?
Second thing, I have installed checksum as recommended on the download page. Except for the last archive (#11), none of them seem to match, like they're all corrupted (althoug I was able to unzip).
Hope someone already went trough with that, couldn't find any help on line.

I am working on an Inventory report in OBIEE/Oracle Apps. The report needs organization and set of books. I do not see these fields in the Inventory Subject Area. I am building this report from Inventory Transactions SA. How do I get these two fields into the Inventory transactions SA. I am very much confused on how to bring the missing fields into the SAs as I am working on OBIEE/Oracles Apps integration for the first time. Please advise.

I would definitely need those in this SA..isn't it?Ya defiantely you would need those columns because itz crux of the matter.I meant check them in other subject areas also (other than inventory)
I dont have access here,but im sure i saw those columns defined....check them might be they have been mingled up with other subject areas because as those 2 fields are used with all modules in common.
If i recall the tables names start something like this Dim_W_INT_ORG_D or Dim_W_ORG_D_Account im not sure check out.

Obiee oracle gateway error while updating row count

OBIEE server 11.1.1.5 ,oracle server11g installed in linux 64bit,
while updating row count in Admin tool i am getting the following error
[NQODBC][SQL_STATE:HY000][nQSError:10058] A general error has occured.
[nQSError: 43113]Message returned from OBIS.
[nQSError:43093]An error occured while processing the EXECUTE PHYSICAL statement.
[nQSError:17003]Oracle gateway error: OCIEnvNIsCreate or OCIEnvInit failed to initialize environment.Please check your Oracle Client installation and make sure the correct version of OCI libraries are in the library path.
i am able to check the database from sqlplus it is working fine.
Any suggestion highly appreciated plzzz

Make sure your connection pool is valid and able to import or execute reports.
If everything good as above said, in Physical layer database properties-> general tab choose the database version and try it once.

To resolve the issue create a softlink (ln -s) in the <OracleBI>/server/Bin folder to link to the 32-bit Oracle Client Driver file.
The example below shows how to perform a softlink from the 64 bit directory:
cd /u10/app/orcladmin/oracle/OracleBI/server/Bin
ln -s $ORACLE_HOME/lib32/libclntsh.so.10.1 libclntsh.so.10.1

Hi,
We have implemented OBIEE integrated with oracle apps. They are using Discoverer tool to access reports. Now all these reports need to be developed in OBIEE. My question is we have few users coming and stating that they are unable to find few fields. Is there any mapping or any document available that states which field is mapped to what in OBIEE? Also if the user wants to add couple of more fields to a report whci is not available in the vanilla rpd, can we pull those columns into the subject area? In short can we modify the subject areas that are in the vanilla rpd. Thanks.

Error in OBIEE:Oracle Error code: 1445

When making some formula or adding new columns,I am getting the following Err..
State: HY000. Code: 10058. NQODBC SQL_STATE: HY000 nQSError: 10058 A general error has occurred. nQSError: 17001 Oracle Error code: 1445, message: ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from, or sample, a join view without a key-preserved table at OCI call OCIStmtExecute. nQSError: 17010 SQL statement preparation failed. (HY000)
Its something related to joins.Can anyone Help.

ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from a join view without a key-preserved table
Cause: A SELECT statement attempted to select ROWIDs from a view derived from a join operation. Because the rows selected in the view do not correspond to underlying physical records, no ROWIDs can be returned.
Action: Remove ROWID from the view selection clause, then re-execute the statement.
ROWID isn't really an intressting column when doing BI...

OBIEE - Oracle BI Server service (NQSServer.exe) goes down

Hello,
I'm experiencing a issue with the Oracle BI Server service (NQSServer.exe), it goes down when the CPU reaches to the 100% with this service.
This happens when the Job Manager tries to send 20mails (ibots) at the same time.
This never happen before.
Here you can see the error, when the CPU reaches to 100%, and the NQSServer.exe goes down.

Error message downloading OBIEE Report to Excel "is in a different format"

Dear experts:
We just upgraded to 10.1.3.4.1 in our Dev environment and are seeing a pecuiliar behavior when we try to download a report to either "Excel" or "Excel 2000".
After selecting Excel (or Excel 200) from the Download Link, we get the following message that pops up:
The file you are trying to open 'Period Summary.xls' is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify the file is not corrupted and is from trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?
We are then given the choice of Yes, No, or Help
When I click Yes, the File does open, but why this message? I can see the users complaining about this message.

I found the link to MSDN site which states that this is a "known problem" and MS will provide a fix at a future date.

Invoking a Browser Script in OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0

In-order to meet a requirement I modified the Userscript.js in 11.1.1.5.0 located at "E:\Middleware\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\bi_server1\tmp\_WL_user\analytics_11.1.1\7dezjl\war\res\b_mozilla\actions". After this I restarted all the services in EM, BI Server and ADMIN Server, but to no avail, the changes didn't reflect. It would be very helpful and greatly appreciated if you could provide a work-around/pointer etc to help reolve this issue. Should you require any information please let me know.

Analytics WebApp
Turned off OC4J, and deployed Analytics.war file on its own Apache-Tomcat instance
The Tomcat instance listens on port 9090
Siteminder (SSO) / Proxy Tier
I am running an Apache Web Server instance protected by CA Siteminder's SSO policy
AWS is listening on port 80, and acting as a proxy to redirect requests for Analytics.
Example:
Tomcat Analytics: http://localhost:9090/analytics/
AWS: http://localhost:80/obiee/ ==> http://localhost:9090/analytics/
I am doing testing with the out of the box PAIN repository & set of dashboards. My goal is to:
1. Protect OBIEE behind SSO
2. Allow ANY SSO authenticated user to gain access to OBIEE Analytics
3. Remove OBIEE's own authentication / login screen
Effectively:
1. Browse to http://localhost/obiee/
2. Get redirected to SSO login landing page
3. Authenticate via SSO
4. Upon successful SSO authentication, get redirected to the default OBIEE dashboard

I've also added the Impersonator user to the repository using BI Administrator. I opened the respository online and added Impersonator as a user, with the same password I defined when I user cryptotools. I included the Impersonator user on the same groups as the default Administrator (Administrators & XMLP_ADMIN) and subsequently checked my changes back into the server. After everything was done, I bounced presentation and BI servers through:
$run-sa.sh stop
$run-saw.sh stop
$run-sa.sh start
$run-saw.sh start
Presentation services starts up fine, BI server starts up fine as well. When I browse to the Apache Web Server site, I get redirected to SSO, I pass my credentials, and the wind up on the /saw.dll?Dashboard URI but I get the following message:
You are not currently logged in to the Oracle BI Server.
If you have already logged in, your connection might have timed out, or a communications or server error may have occurred.

I am at a total loss with this. If I am understanding the OBIEE stack correctly, this would seem to indicate:
a. The impersonation credentials on the credentialstore.xml file are not being decrypted correctly, or the password actually doesn't match. But I've triple checked this.
b. The impersonation alias is not being recognized by presentation services.
I would really appreciate any input here. If I've left out any relevant items, please ask questions and I'll try to be as thorough as possible.

How does OBIEE render international character sets?

Hi.
Our OBIEE Oracle Business Intelligence 11.1.1.5 application running on Linux x86 (64-bit) and a 11.2.0.2.0 database is using the AL32UTF8 Unicode character.
So our database will support languages such as Japanese, Spanish etc.
But how does OBIEE deal with these? How do the webpages know that the content is UTF8 also?

Creating an Opaque view for generating the Action Link URL in OBIEE EBS int

Do we have to Creating an Opaque view for generating the Action Link URL in OBIEE Oracle E-Business Suite integration if we are not using BI Applications(DAC). We built our Repository on Materialized views we were using with Discoverer so I'm not sure if we have to do the part that creates an Opaque view in our integration of EBS 11i with OBIEE.

OBIEE/Apps installation

Hi,
I worked on standalone OBIEE but currently working on OBIEE integrated with Oracle Apps. We do have a vanilla rpd that comes with OBIEE. My question is does this vanilla rpd cover all modules and does it have subject areas covered for all modules. Do we have to pick the modules while installing OBIEE/oracle Apps so it will install the rpd based on those modules only. I also see that we have reports created for few modules. Like I see reports under these folders 1. Financials, 2. Procurement and Spend and 3. Supply chain and Order management. Are these the only ones available for any kinda installtion. Please advise. You have to customize the webcatalog to display only the Subject areas you require.

Javascript Visuals in OBIEE 11g

Hi guys,
Im facing problems in making custom javascript visuals using Narrative view..I am referring to examples from the SampleApp Linux image available on OTN, which has examples of most of the fucntionality supported by OBIEE.
Most of the Javascript visuals refer the d3.js or d3.layout.js files. According to what I've read in Oracle Fusion Middleware System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition, all the javascript files need to be placed in the following directory and included in ur narrative code:
ORACLE_INSTANCE\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obipsn\analyticsRes
I copied the relevant js files from Linux image to my OBIEE setup and tried replicating the same visuals(I tried Word Cloud & CirclePack), but I am unable to render any of those visuals..
I m getting JS errors like Object doesnt support this property or method..

OBIEE 10g Copy user profile from one Env to another Env

Hi All,
I have to copy an user profile from DEV to SIT.
It has so many components. I have copied the following components from DEV to SIT. but i am getting an access errors. could you please help me find out what am i missing?. I also tried by deleting user1.atr on Target Server.

1 repository serving 2 OBIEE servers - can this be done?

Hi Gurus.
I have a question that I though might be better answered in this forum.
Is it possible for us to configure 1 repository and have 2 OBIEE / Web Logic servers running from it?
We are thinking of having one OBIEE server for external and the other for internal layers.
Can this be done? With each running off / out of the same repository?
