OBIEE Plus vs others

We are in process of deciding to implement a suitable BI tool for analytics and reporting purposes. I have the following questions in this regard:
1. What are the factors we should consider while choosing the right tool as it seems that every tool is unique?
2. Possible contenders include Business Objects, Cognos, OBIEE and Hyperion. From my limited knowledge I have come to know that though all of these are reporting tools Business Objects and OBIEE are ROLAP based, whereas Cognos and Hyperion are MOLAP based. I also came across OBIEE Plus which includes features/capabilities of OBIEE along with MOLAP capabilities of Hyperion. So does this mean OBIEE Plus would be a safe bet? Also, and am I right to consider OBIEE Plus as a HOLAP based reporting too,
Any guidance on these questions would be very helpful in us making a calculated decision.

You can use Java Script codes on OBIEE Dashboards to perform What If Analysis. I don't have a specific code, it should be based on your logic. But I know this can be achieved in this way.

OBIEE vs OBIEE PLUS

We understand that obiee does not contain essbase. Essbase can be intregated with obiee plus. but does obiee can do 'What if' analysis?
If yes, then which component does it for OBIEE.

Are you upgrading or installing on a different server? If you're installing it on your local machine, you might have to modify the NQSConfig file to point to the right directories (C:\OracleBI whereas on the server it might have been D:\OracleBI etc).

OBIEE Plus Installation - Error - 1064 - BI Server Servie -Urgent!!!!!!!!!!

I have installed OBIEE Plus and when i am trying to start BI Server Service , it's giving Error - 1064 .
1. I didn't made any changes in NQLConfig file.
2. At time of installation , Everything went perfectly.
3. RPD files is also compiled and woring .
I have checked all above things but still it's giving error.

Oracle BI Enterprise Edition comes with a BI Suite, Is it a seperate package? what are the added components or key differentiators of OBIEE and OBIEE PLUS. I couldnt see a seperate package for OBIEE PLUS on otn.

OBIEE plus added Hyperion and Essbase. There is no separate download. You should only Hyperion and Essbase if you are licensed for them.

OBIEE PLus MOLAP

Hi there,
does anyone know if OBIEE is using the ROLAP or MOLAP? I am doing a paper comparison between OBIEE Plus and Microstrategy, and know that Micorstrategy is ROLAP, but an not sure if OBIEE is ROLAP or MOLAP.

OBIEE can be implemented as both ROLAP as well as MOLAP. MOLAP based OBIEE uses Oracle's SQL based access to the OLAP cubes.

Burning iTunes Plus and other 256 bit rate material to get best quality?

I understand that iTunes Plus and most songs on Amazon are provided at a higher bit rate than non-Plus iTunes songs in order to provide higher audio quality on playback. But, does this quality differential come through when burning a song to disc from within iTunes?
I ask because of an experiment I just conducted. I downloaded the same song from iTunes (not a Plus version) and from Amazon. The Amazon version takes up twice as much file space as the iTunes version. (The ACC file at 128kbps was 5MB while the MPEG file at 256 kbps was 11.6MB.) However, when I burned both songs to a CD, those files where identical in size. Further, when played on a near-audiophile stereo system, I could hear no discernible difference between the two.
So the question: Does whatever extra information and hence sound quality contained in the Plus or other 256 kbps material get lost in the conversion to audio CD format? Are there settings in iTunes I'm missing? Are there alternative software or file formats available that would burn audio CDs without this loss?
(I realize that whatever difference there is in sound quality would not be detectable on most equipment. What I'm looking for is to preserve quality differences that can be heard on high-end equipment. As it is, I'm able to tell the difference between well-recorded and produced commercial CDs and the same material bought through iTunes.)

The quality of compressed audio is not always linked to file size. I believe it is possible for a 128 kbps AAC file to sound as good as a 256 kbps MP3 file. MP3 is not the best audio compression format but it is by far the most commonplace. A 128 kbps AAC file isn't as good as a 192 kbps AAC file, however.
When your audio files were uncompressed for burning to audio CD they naturally became the same size because there no longer was any compression.
If your objective is to have audio CDs that sound best on high-end equipment then you should continue buying audio CDs rather than purchasing on-line music. That way there is no loss in audio quality from compression. I'm not aware of a source that is selling lossless on-line music downloads.

Install OBIEE plus

I want to install de Oracle BIEE Plus but i need a simple guide to do this. The instalation is on Red Hat. I dont have knowledge about this, I never install this product. If you know were is the information about this, tellme.

Power supply needed for MS-7220 (Diamond Plus) and others.

The following statement is taken form the K8B Diamond Plus Manual.
For ATX 12V power connection, it should be greater than 18A.
If I am interpreting correctly, the ATX 12V connector should have dedicated to it a minimum of 18A.
My first, question is if the Power Supply has two or more rails, how do you know the power dedicated to the ATX 12 connector on the Power Supply?
Second, if a +12V rail is not dedicated the connector, how do you know what is connected to each rail of the Power Supply?
This maybe the source of why many are saying, they have more stable system performance when using single rail Power Supplies.
I have tried eleven different manufactures to get more detailed Power Supply specifications, but no responses; today through February 1st is the Chinese New Year.
Those of you running the K8B Diamond Plus, what are you using for Power Supplies and are you having any instability problem?
One thing I did find curious was that going the manuals and in most all of the newer Socket 939 motherboards have this specification, but nothing in the motherboards specifications of on the MSI Web Site about this required and the are a lot of 500-600 Watt power supplies sold that do not meet this specification.
The statement Total Wattage does not mean a thing has even more meaning to me now.
Are we going to have to know the Current Rating of each cable on the output of a Power Supply now to insure we are purchasing the correct Power Supply?

Ihave a Tagan 580w U22 with switchable dual/combined +12v rails and it is very stable,set it combined for 35a.
Only thing to ponder was the 4/8 pin +12v/p4 connector,power supply has the correct split 2x4pin connectors so does the board but there is a little removable cover over 4 pins,so thinking MSI fitted it there for a reason I have fitted only one 4 pin connector,no problems as yet.
Think you may well have a point re the 18a.
I have just given my son my old sli platinum/cpu/heatsink/ram/vga card,this setup ran 250/11/4 @ 1.4v & ram 2.5 3 3 7 1.1 @ 2.75v with the Tagan.this setup now fitted in his case but with a dual 18a rail Enermax and he can't o/c stable to the old settings.Case has better cooling than the wavemaster it all came from.
Dont think the enermax is bad just that it supplies the power a different way.

Installation of 11.1.0.5.10 Beta Blows Away SQL PLUS In Other Home

I had a working 10g R2 client installed and working. Installed 11.1.0.5.10 Beta into a new home. Attempted to run install scripts and determined that SQLPLUS no longer works in the 10g R2 client home. Any ideas? Should I have installed 11.1.0..5.10 beta into the exsiting home?

You may copy the sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora two files from your working 10gR2 home (under 10gR2 home's Network\Admin directory) to 11.1.0.5.10 Beta home (under 11.1.0.5.10 Beta home's Network\Admin directory).
Two possibilities:
1. use <10gR2 full path>\sqlplus.exe to run the ASP.NET scripts.
2. if you have ODT installation, you may use it's "Query Window"or "Run SQL*Plus Script" (under Tools menu) to run the ASP.NET scripts

Receiving unresponsive script everytime I click on watch live salt and light Tv. I have deleted the caches and cookies plus followed other support. On mac.

For the past week, I have been receiving the message: unresponsive script everytime I click on the icon to watch salt and light tv live. It also happens with another website as well. Youtube is fine but not this one. I get the annoying freebie which paralyzes my internet. I have a mac.
I have deleted the cookies, and the caches. Plus tried something with system preferences. Nothing is working please help me because I am getting close to trying another browser.

A TWM that can use Trayer/Tint2? Plus some other things I "need" in it

I know the beauty of TWM and all, but here's the real problem I'm having: I want to use my tray/bar setup. I've got it exactly how I want it and I don't want to mess with it right now. Specifically, I have conky, tint, and trayer all on the same line so I have maximal real estate going.
But every time I try a TWM I totally lose my ability to use those things. Now I can deal with not having my beloved right-click menu I guess, but I definitely need the following:
1) Alt-F2 run dialog
2) My tray and taskbar area untouched
3) ONLY three windows tiled (browser, chat room, IM window), all else should float
4) Not native taskbar thing
That' it, but for the life of me I can't configure any to do it. Maybe Awesome does but I'm not spending the six hours necessary to learn the language.

I desisted from posting in this thread, because I thought you only wanted infor pertaining to TWM -- which I have never used. But since others have suggested you different WMs, I will go ahead and add my own 2 cents.
musca supports all that you want. I use it almost exclusively now. it uses dmenu which acts as a run dialog as well. You can however still choose to install gmrun or any other run dialog program that you want.
But I agree with Ashren, that if you want only a few types of windows tiled, then openbox or pekwm or even fluxbox would be a better way to go about it. In OB, you can set up per app rules in the rc.xml file under the
<applications></applications>
Note that you will have to get the WM_CLASS values for the apps that you want to tile. Use the geometry attributes to position them with/without decor and any other options that you might want.
Using scripts like wumwum or the above mentioned stiler is also another option.
