OBIEE Prompt Section

Hi all,
Is it possible to place columns in the OBIEE prompt section one over the other.I have a requirement in which I need to place the columns in the prompt section as shown below:
[Column 1][Column2][Column4] [Column7]
[Column3][Column5][Column6][Column8][Go]
[Column8]

I tried grouping the columns.When I group first 3 columns then it comes in the below format:-
[Column1]
[Columns2]
[Columns3]
[Columns4][Columns5][Columns6][Columns7]
[Columns8][Columns9] Go
How to get the same in this pattern like
[Columns1][Columns1] [Column7]
[Columns2][Columns3][Column3][Column1][Columns2][Columns2]
[Columns3] [Columns3] Go

Try to update below
<Prompts><MaxDropDownValues>6000</MaxDropDownValues></Prompts> in instanceconfig.xml.
<MaxCells>1920000</MaxCells>
<MaxVisibleSections>1000</MaxVisibleSections>
<MaxVisiblePages>10000</MaxVisiblePages>

Use presentation hierarchy column in table prompt section

Hi,
I right click on presentation hierarchy column -> Move -> To prompts.
Column filter appears in table prompts section but there is only one value to select in a dropdown - top levelparent of hierarchy.
Is there any way to make all hierarchy levels be displayed in prompt?

Forcing the user to select one of the OBIEE prompts?

Hi All,
Iam new to OBIEE I have a requirment in which I need to force the user to select one of the selection from prompts in OBIEE eg: you need to select one of the contry either India or America to get the other prompts enable and filter the report?
Any help is highly appriciated.

Hi,
You can set a default value in your first dashboard prompt like 'please select a country' then if the user doesn't select something no result will be returned until he selects a valid value
Then make the other dashboard prompts constrained.

OBIEE Prompt

Hi All,
I am using OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1.
I have an issue with prompt. I have created a prompt on "PO Number". It is working in two different reports. But when I am using this prompt in another report it is not showing the selected value. Though I have prompted that "PO Number" field in the report(in answer).
Please assist me in this regard.

The problem is the same prompt working in Open PO report, Overdue shipment report but not working in rest of my reports. Suppose in Savings analysis report I have added that prompt and I have
given one specific value in the prompt; it will not select that specified PO.. It will show all the POs. But if I check it in Open PO report that value will be selected.
It is behaving strange...!!

OBIEE Prompt - Drop Down List security restrictions .... Helppp

Hi all,
How can I put the security on a Drop Down Select List ?
For Example, I have a Department Prompt for a dashboard.
So I want put something like:
the User of Department 1 can see and select our department (1)
the User of Department 2 can see and select our department (2)
the Admin can see and select All Departments.
How can I do that?

You need to implement security filters in your RPD to automatically restrict the values returned by the BI Server.
You will need a way of mapping User of department 1 to the filter value , you can hold this in table if you want - Use an initialization block to populate a session variable per user , then filter the Department logical table using that session variable.
Its been covered in a few blogs - just search OBIEE security filters.

OBIEE prompt - 'Please Wait' or 'loading'

Hi,
I have not upgraded anything. I have many prompts in a single report and one one prompt does not display value. It just says 'Please wait' forever. What could be the reason if other prompts are working fine? I have re-imported this column and tried too. Yet, no success.

Hi, does your prompt use the "Limits values by" ? Because this option generate more complex queries using a fact table to join dimensions together and limit the list of values.
You can also have a look in the logs for the physical query OBIEE is running so you will be fixed of what's happening and why it's taking long time.

Javascript:void(null) error on clicking OBIEE prompts

Hi Gurus,
I have an OBIEE application with four tabs. It was working fine earlier but now when I click on any tabs in the 1st page of the application (even the "Page options" tab in the top right corner), am getting Javascript:void(null) error in the left bottom corner of the page and nothing is happening means the page is not at all navigating. I tried by disabling the pop-up blocker also, even then am getting the same error. Can anyone provide me a solution for this. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. But that doesnt solve my issue. I cross-verified all the .js files used in the 1st page of my OBIEE application and am sure no modifications had been done in any of the .js files. Is anything else causing this issue. Kindly help. Thanks alot.

OBIEE PROMPT DISPLAY PROBLEM

I want to display a prompt in 2008,2009 but automatically it displays 2008.00,2009.00.
I used truncate but it did not work.
Pls tell me if there is any function to do it.

Put CAST("YEAR" AS INTEGER)
Should work.

Autocomplete in OBIEE prompts

Hi All
I am trying to create a prompt with autocompleted abillity. For example we have have name field in the dashboard , and when user type is 'A'than all name starting with 'A' should be displayed below like LOV. I have seen this feature in one of Youtube video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaIwVcaV5IE .
Please let me know how i can create a prompt with Autocomplete feature.

Seems to be standard feature in 11.1.1.6:
"System Setting — The administrator modifies the system configuration file to enable the auto-complete functionality for Oracle BI EE. When this functionality is turned on, all users can access the auto-complete prompts functionality. If this functionality is turned off, then all auto-complete fields are disabled on the Oracle BI EE user interface. For more information, see "Configuring for Prompts" in Oracle Fusion Middleware System Administrator's Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition"

Exceeded configured maximum number of allowed output prompts, sections, rows, or columns.

So, I am getting the above error message when trying to access one of the dashboard reports. I know there are some limitations on certain views.
However, my boss is asking if I can find out how many rows I m trying to run before increasing number rows. I don’t know how to find out the number rows the report is trying to run.. Does anyone know how do that? Please please help.

OBIEE 11G Hidden Sections Taking Up Space and Skewing Dashboard Alignment

Hi OBIEE Experts,
I'm hoping someone can help me out with this. I am using a dashboard prompt to hide sections within an OBIEE Dashboard. Everything is working and functioning as I wanted, except for the Dashboard/Section alignment. The sections and their content are hiding depending upon the result of the Dashboard Prompt, but even though they are hiding they are taking up space on the Dashboard. In my Dashboard I have this basic layout:

_______COLUMN 2_______ _______COLUMN 3_______
COLUMN 2 contains my Dashboard Prompt that hides/unhides the sections in COLUMN 3. COLUMN 3 has 9 different sections in it, with only one section showing at a time based on the Dashboard Prompt. The Section Headers are set to show for each of these 9 sections.
The problem is coming in that if a user selects the Prompt value that activates the section highest in the Dashboard Layout (Section position 1 in COLUMN 3), the dashboard aligns correctly. The Section Header for the Dashboard Prompt Section in COLUMN 2 is perfectly aligned with the shown section in COLUMN 3. However, if a user selects a prompt value that triggers any section other than the highest to be shown, the alignment gets off. It is especially bad and noticeable when you get to the lowest section in COLUMN 3.
I have attached screen shots (data blacked out) that demonstrate this problem.

Does anyone have any tips for how to correct for this? I have set the format in all sections to have 0 padding all around. I have also tried putting each section in different columns, but that encounters the same problem, with the alignment being affected horizontally rather than vertically. Any help will be very much appreciated!

Well try using percent for all sizing for all columns like (50% width, 30% height..etc). You need to play around to get the closest match. Also, try using blank sections for extra padding with fixed %sizes

Cascading prompt in obiee 11g

Greetings All!!
We are trying to create the cascading prompt. The region prompt has all column values and when we click on all column values,
we do not want state prompt to display any values. In obiee prompt, there is an option to limit values by prompt ,however it does not
work for all column values since we do not want to show the state values after clicking column values.
Any feedbacks are highly welcome.

Placing the image file in /l_en folder dint work for me too however you can place them inside the following paths and restart the services,
1)
\MW_HOME\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\AdminServer\tmp\_WL_user\analytics_11.1.1\silp1v\war\res\s_blafp\images
2)
\MW_HOME\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res\s_blafp\images
You can then call your file with the url, http://hostname:port/analytics/res/imagefile.jpg
Its worked for me, let me know in case of any issues.

Concatenated Prompts in OBIEE answers

Hello All,
Can we have Concatenated OBIEE Prompts in Answers(Not in Dashboard)
ex: Vendor_Number || Vendor_Name..
it has to be displayed in this way when the user runs the request. either can go into the DB to process the request. This is something like Lookups in the Oracle EBS we have Value -- Description
Can we achieve this in OBIEE if so How?

Could you explain more clearly what your aim is here, is this a saved query to which users have access through Answers? If so why is prompting necessary when they will have access to the query criteria.
You can concatenate the columns in the column formula, a filter on that coulmn would then require the value entered to be a valid concatenation of the two columns.
It seems like an odd thing to do in Answers though, rather than a dashboard.
