Re: OBIEE sampleapp v305 virtual image
Dear Experts
I'm trying to import the vm appliance sampleapp305,
after performing all Downloads site.
ie all physicians.
when i go to extract disk1.
"SampleAppv305OTNGA.zip.001"
the result (result not expected) is:
Creation of a directory (directory yet) SampleAppv305OTNGA.zip containing the file SampleAppv305OTNGA.zip
then I try to extract this and I can not, it gives error.
! E: \ ORACLE \ Installs \ BI \ OBIEE_11_1_1_7_VM_SampleApp305 \ SampleAppv305OTNGA.zip \ SampleAppv305OTNGA.zip: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged!
as little more than
I understand that the outcome (expected result) should be to create the vmdk file of about 20G.
I have repeated this a few times and I can not get the vmdk file.
How to do this?
What am I doing wrong?
Thank you,dear
I continue with the exact same problem.

OBIEE SampleApp v207 Running Deadly Slow
Hi Experts,
I managed to install OBIEE SampleApp v207 successfully and applied all the fixes, though it was a real pain.
Verified that all services are Alive and running. http://i45.tinypic.com/fdu5w6.png
System Configuration
OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
RAM: 6 GB
HDD: 260 GB
Oracle VM VirtualBox
RAM: 3584 MB
Now the problem is when I tried to access any link (OBIEE Login, Weblogic Console, etc), which were already bookmarked in the FirFox inside the image, takes enormous time to load. The WebLogic console login page (http://localhost:7001/em) takes 20 minutes to load. I'm clueless here.
I have few confusion in the host file configuration. Currently, my host file looks as follows:
+127.0.0.1 obieesampleapp.us.oracle.com localhost.localdomain localhost
::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
192.168.90.51 obisamplev207.lgsglobal.net obisamplev207+ <-- This line I've added.
Also the documentations regarding deployment is itself a bug.
Any pointers please.Are you making progress yet?
20 minutes is definitely too long. On my virtual machine, it took 30 seconds ... from the point I launched Firefox, found the bookmark, and clicked. Probably less than 5 seconds for the login screen.
My best guess is that you do not have "guest additions" configured for Virtual Box.
The OBIEE VM was built on one version of VirtualBox; if you're now just deploying,
you are likely running the latest VB.
My rig is an HP Envy Laptop, quad i7 with 16GB real, Windows 8, Virtual Box Version 4.2.6 r82870
I realized I had to rebuild guest additions, so I decided to "yum update" the Linux el5 release too.
I started a blog entry about my experience:
https://blogs.oracle.com/obieeTips/entry/deploying_the_obi_sample_virtual
And am just getting back to making this deployment run more smoothly.
To start the services, I don't click on the Desktop icons; instead I open a terminal:
cd Desktop
time 0-<tab> ... bash completion to 0-StartDB,sh
time 1-<tab> ...
time 9-<tab>
The total elapsed time to bring all the services up was 13m45s ... including manual steps and recording.
Without a current "guest additions", you also cannot mount a Host directory to your VM for easy transfer.
I'm now working out these kinks, and will update the blog with new solutions.
- Mouse is still erratic, I don't know why. Works perfectly for "moments at a time",
then refuses to control the desktop.
- Screen is erratic ... bring up a Terminal session too close to the screen edge,
and it wraps to the opposite side.
- "Applications, Places, System" often disappear from the title bar
- Now working on Host browsers to interface to the VM appliance,
so I have two network adapters:
NAT --- for yum updates and such
Host-only --- for my Win8 browser interfaces -
How to define additional virtual image directories for multi lingual app.
Hi,
In my ApEx application, for English language I want to use default image directory /i/, but for other languages I want to use seperate image directories like /i/fr/ for French etc. In - Translate Application -> Application Language Mapping , there is a text area to capture the Image Directory.
How can I define additional image directory (apart from /i/) in my multilingual application? What are the steps for defining these virtual image directories in a multi lingual setup?
I am using ApEx v 3.1.2 on 11g with embeded PL/SQL gateway.
Any suggestions or pointers in the right direction are highly appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,
AV

Can you use an application item in your replacement for the path?
Then you can set it at login.

My Cisco Prime Infrastructure ver. 1.2.1.12
Cisco Prime Infrastructure - I can't see the hardware virtual image when I selected a device managed by Prime Infrastructure. See attached picture.
Please let me know how to access or enable the feature.
Thanks,
TekThis is by no means a full solution, but deleting and re-adding only takes a few minutes if you use the "Export Device" and "Bulk Import" features from the Device Work Center. You can export the desired devices to a CSV file, delete them, then import from the CSV.
Of course, you might lose historical data when deleting the devices, but I'm guessing that's not as relevant since the devices themselves have been replaced by different hardware. -

Getting an virtual image of windows
Hello,
I have recently installed windows XP on bootcamp. What I would like help with is how to get a virtual image of the windows xp when i open Bootcamp.
I've seen some people with on youtube and sutch. The problem is that when i start the computer up, i get to choose if i want to open it as a leapord or windows. I have set the settings so it will automaticly start as mac. but I would like to click on bootcamp and open it as windows in a seperate window. How do i do this????
this is my first post, sry if it unclearI have Parallels 6 and just hadn't installed it yet. So now was a really good time so I can definitively say whether or not it works as I explained. The answer is yes, it does. Parallels saw my Win 7 Boot Camp partition and automatically made an environment for it. It did create a 1.3 GB file for it in my user account, but that's far smaller than entirely installing Windows on your Mac partition as a disk image.
By default, it runs in Coherence mode, which is pretty cool. Rather than your VM running in a separate window, or in full screen, a few controls get added to OS X's menu bar while Parallels is running. You click on that and choose "Windows Start Menu". The standard Windows menu displays from the top of the screen and you launch a Windows app the same way you would as if booted into Windows. It then runs on your OS X desktop almost as if it were a native OS X app. Very neat!
My accountant will probably be pretty happy to see my move from QuickBooks for Mac to QB for Windows. Then he wouldn't have to come over here to look over and adjust the books at year end. I can just send him copy of the data. Something which cannot be done cross platform. -
Hello Experts,
Is the virtual image for OIM 11gR2 available ?
Kindly help.The only luck that I had was getting one from a third-party consultant. Unfortunately, it was too resource-hungry to run well on one of our laptops, and my department had no luck getting it going on a server. So I'd be interested if anyone has done better.

OBIEE 11g Title view Image position
Hi All,
Is there any way to change the position of image in title view in OBIEE 11g.By, default the image is coming on the left side..In my report i wanna display on the right side..
Guys please help..
RegardsIn order to achieve this, you will need a custom skin (you can modify the original file, but I would not suggest to do this!).
The controlling file for the GUI rendering with regards to the title view is in the msgdb. It's the /messages/standardviewtemplates.xml. Again: please follow the process to create a custom skin and put the modified standardviewtemplates.xml there.
Changes to be made are here:
Standard:
<WebMessage name="kuiTitleViewDisplay" translate="no">
<HTML>
<table class="TitleTable" cellspacing="0" style="@{tableStyle}"
width="100%">
<sawm:if test="logo || title || help">
<tr>
<sawm:if name="logo">
<td class="TitleLogo" style="@{logoStyle}" rowspan="4">
<img border="0" src="
<sawm:param name="logo" />" alt="
<sawm:messageRef name="kmsgTitleViewLogo" />" title="
<sawm:messageRef name="kmsgTitleViewLogo" />"/></td>
</sawm:if>
<sawm:if name="title">
<td class="TitleCell" style="@{titleStyle}"
title="@{desc}">
<sawm:param name="title" />
</td>
</sawm:if>
<sawm:if name="help">
<td class="TitleHelp" align="right" rowspan="4">
<a href="@{help}" target="_blank">
<img border="0" alt="" src="fmap:Views/Help.gif" />
</a>
</td>
</sawm:if>
</tr>
</sawm:if>
After changes:
<WebMessage name="kuiTitleViewDisplay" translate="no">
<HTML>
<table class="TitleTable" cellspacing="0" style="@{tableStyle}"
width="100%">
<sawm:if test="logo || title || help">
<tr>
<sawm:if name="title">
<td class="TitleCell" style="@{titleStyle}"
title="@{desc}">
<sawm:param name="title" />
</td>
</sawm:if>
<sawm:if name="help">
<td class="TitleHelp" align="right" rowspan="4">
<a href="@{help}" target="_blank">
<img border="0" alt="" src="fmap:Views/Help.gif" />
</a>
</td>
</sawm:if>
<sawm:if name="logo">
<td class="TitleLogo" style="@{logoStyle}" rowspan="4">
<img border="0" src="
<sawm:param name="logo" />" alt="
<sawm:messageRef name="kmsgTitleViewLogo" />" title="
<sawm:messageRef name="kmsgTitleViewLogo" />"/></td>
</sawm:if>
</tr>
</sawm:if>
Basically you switch around the order of Logo -> Title -> Help to Title -> Help -> Logo. This way you know what happens in the doce above and make it Title -> Logo -> Help if you want.
These changes are application-wide wherever the custom skin is used (or just applciation-wide full stop if you modify the original file). -
OBIEE SampleApp 107, VirtualBox. IP adress issue
Hello,
It is my first experience with VirtualBox. I always use VMWare and I've never seen such issue before.
Perhaps there is more a Linux question than a question OBIEE.
I have Virtual Box version of Sample app 107 on my Mac OS X laptop. I see that I have to modify hosts file for IP address. If I use ifconfig (in virtualbox) I see that my address is 10.0.2.15
My Mac OS host has a normal IP address like 192.169.10.108, so I expected something like that for my Virtual Box Sample 107 host too.
I want to access Virtualbox Sample 107 host from other VM's, for example using admin tool.
I tried different network adapters types (virtualbox setting): NAT, bridged adapter, internal network etc. Nothing helps - IP address of virtualbox host stay 10.0.2.15. If I manually set the IP address to 192.168.10.199 , I can still not access from outside.
Can someone explain to me how I can set the appropriate network property.
regardsChristian,
The first thing is - I know the difference between NAT and Bridget adapter. :-)
I mean, I've tried all types but without success.
For now I'm using NAT.
If I do ifconfig in the terminal of my Mac laptop, I see IP address - 192.168.10.103 (which is good)
If I do that in terminal Virtulbox I see IP address 10.0.2.15, see output below
That is just the problem that I mean, how can i get vb host correct in my network?
MY QUESTION IS - HOW CAN I GET A NORMAL IP ADDRESS FOR VIRTUALBOX HOST.
I can't ping virtualbox from my laptop and vice versa.
Regards,
Roman

Demo License for Virtual Image of Web Security
Hello,
I had downloaded the latest image for Virtual WSA.
But I am not able to get the demo license for that.
It is showing the message "Access to the page resitricted."
Thank you -- and you helpp will be appriciated..

HozefaHello,
You should have privileges as long as you are logging into the site using your CCO ID. If you do not have one please register for a CCO ID on www.cisco.com and you should have access to get a demo license. If you are logging in with your CCO ID and its still giving you the error message then you will need to reach out to your Cisco Account manager to provide the demo license. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

The best practice is to access the repository through WebDAV as Dietmar explains, and to create your own folder(s) for custom scripts and images, rather than mixing stuff up with Oracle content in <tt>/i/</tt> that may need to be overwritten during an upgrade. -
Where is the virtual images directory for an ORACLEXE HTMLDB installation?
Hi,
I've already got a standalone installation of HTMLDB which has an /images/ directory on my file server containing all gifs/themes/templates/css files etc. I've created an application that I'm going to use for my business and I've changed some of the underlying giff's and css files.
On another machine I've just installed Oracle Express Edition (as it's free for commercial use) which has an integrated HTMLDB environment, that is the same as the standalone one as far as I can tell, except that it does not appear to have an /images/ directory stored on the file system??
I've done a complete search and nothing is found. If I type http://127.0.0.1:8080/i/ into my web browser all the files and directories are displayed! Does any one know the location of these files or how the HTTP listener is translating /i/?
I need to mod these existing files in order to correctly display my business application from my other standalone installation of htmldb.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
KevHi Kev,

IWeb counters can prevent publishing.
