OBIEE - Spatial Maps

Hi,
We are working on OBIEE 11g. We have created a new column in Spatial Database - 'MVDEMO' in the backend. we are unable to get the column to appear in the LOV of ' Manage Map Data ->Edit Layer -> BI Associations -> Key Layer'. We have tried restarting the BI Server but this did not help.
It would help us if anybody could help us resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Thanks and regards.
Nilan

Hi Nilan,
An option might be to go this web site:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/obiee-samples-167534.html
and click on the NAVTEQ data bundle. This content was designed to help you get started with Maps in OBIEE

  • OBIEE - Spatial maps -restricting counties based on state.

    Hi,
We are using OBIEE - map views which is utilizing oracle spatial 'mvdemo'. we notice that USA there are many counties with the same name across states such as 'Orange', which is present in around 5 states.
We are unable to restrict these counties appearing on map based on the selected state.
    Steps followed:
    - We have added two layers for state and county -THEME_DEMO_STATES and THEME_DEMO_COUNTIES in 'Manage Map Data' tab on OBIEE.
    - BI data has been added to both the layers using 'Key Layers'
    - We populated state level information on map.
    - As we drill down from state level to county level, we observe that all the counties with the same name across the country appear with the same data irrespective of which state they belong to.
It would be great if some one can suggest how to over come this issue. Thanks in advance.
    Regards.
    Nilan.

Just to add to the above requirement. We are using OBIEE 11g.

This is my Hierarchy -> From country to state to city .
I have this data in my table in the database as columns.
I know to create google map but dont know how to include hierarchy, please let me know if this can be done.
    Thanks in Advance

  • OBIEE 11g Map Visualization Error - basemap is defined in spatial meta-data

    Hi All,
I have installed OBIEE 11g successfully on my Desktop Machine, deployed the Sample Applications regarding Mapviewer and its working fine. I have seen all the Maps and they are running fine in fact they are editable and i can easily do anything with those Maps but,
    The issue is that when i am going to create a new Report and try to integrate Map on it then it shows an error as display below;
A basemap is required to render a map. Please ensure that atleast one basemap is defined in the spatial meta-data
    Error Details
    Error Codes: EMGUNIA3
    Location: saw.views.evc.activate, saw.httpserver.processrequest, saw.rpc.server.responder, saw.rpc.server, saw.rpc.server.handleConnection, saw.rpc.server.dispatch, saw.threadpool,
    saw.threadpool, saw.threads
I have also followed this link ( http://erpthings.blogspot.com/2011/01/obiee-11g-inbuilt-mapping-and-spatial.html ) but it is also stuck on the same error at the end.
I didn't understand the problem why its giving an error like this while the Sample Application worked fine so, if there is any way to define a basemap in spatial meta-data plz guide me OR
Is there any way to integrate Map with OBIEE 11g ?
    Cheers,
    Masood.

    This question has been solved!
Basically you need to ensure the database schema where the data source (Navteq) has been imported must have the privilege "Create Type"
This comes from the Oracle manual extract as shown below:
1.4.4.3 Creating MapViewer Array Types, if Necessary
For each database schema that it connects to, MapViewer checks for the existence of
the following SQL array types that support array-type binding variables that might
    exist in some predefined themes:
    ■ MV_STRINGLIST
    ■ MV_NUMBERLIST
    ■ MV_DATELIST
If these types do not exist, MapViewer attempts to create them in the database schema
associated with the MapViewer data source. However, if the user associated with that
schema does not have sufficient privileges to create new types, a privileged user must
create the types by connecting to the data source schema and entering the following
    statements:
    CREATE or REPLACE type MV_STRINGLIST as TABLE of VARCHAR2(1000);
    CREATE or REPLACE type MV_NUMBERLIST as TABLE of NUMBER;
    CREATE or REPLACE type MV_DATELIST as TABLE of DATE;
    Cheers.

  • OBIEE -Spatial Data in ST Geometry

    Hi,
Below is my sample spatial data in oracle 10g database.I am trying to build a OBIEE map with Google maps as background map.Can i  use the ST geomotry as below  directly or should i convert it to SDO geometry .I converted ST geometry to SDO  but when i use it for the maps in obiee the lines are all over the map.Can anyone suggest me the steps i need to take when the spatial data is in ST geometry.SRID for google mpas is 3785.

    Hi Syedurur,
You may be in the wrong forum as OBIEE only utilizes MapViewer as far as I know.
    MapViewer
So as Stefan notes, you are not going to be able to use SDE.ST_GEOMETRY with OBIEE as its not an Oracle product.  However, your ArcSDE registered MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY geometry should work fine.  Yet in your example you posted you seem to have Web Mercator (3857) ordinates but the SDO_SRID is WGS 84 (8307) so that is mangled and not going to draw anything correctly.  Try changing the SDO_SRID to 3857.
Now Stefan is a bit incorrect about the ease of moving from SDE.ST_GEOMETRY to MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY.  The folks at ESRI make it simple to move in the other direction but - surprise! - not to move away from their proprietary spatial type.
    ArcGIS Help (10.2, 10.2.1, and 10.2.2)
Now you can still accomplish this by exporting your data from the geodatabase and then importing it back in as SDO but that is certainly not as simple as using the above one-step migration tool.
In theory you could convert SDE.ST_GEOMETRY to MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY on the fly in the database with SQL.  Both ESRI and Oracle proudly spout their unwavering support for OGC standards.  Thus this should work
    SELECT MDSYS.SDO_GEOMETRY(SDE.ST_AsText(a.shape),8307) FROM my_ESRI_ST_GEO_table a;
(Note change the 8307 to the matching Oracle SRID of your data)
But my experience was that the very old Oracle Java WKT parser mixed with the somewhat non-standard ESRI External DLL WKT writer is not a very reliable combination.  But do give it a try and feel free to report back to us how it goes.  I really have not tried this in a couple of years so perhaps things are better now.
    Cheers and Happy New Years,
    Paul

  • Is any documentation available for OBIEE Spatial analytics sample??

    Hi All ,
We are currently working on creating a  demo wherein we want to enable users to drill on various hierarchies over world map. We are trying to achieve the same using SampleApp (v305) but have hit some roadblocks.
We could not find a document that explains the relationship between the tables of the Spatial Schema. Is there such documentation available?
We are unable to understand how is spatial data created and how to represent common sales analytics data using spatial data?
Is there any document explaining the steps taken to build the sample application map reports?
Is there a way to alter/customize spatial data based on specific requirements i.e. Interchanging certain cities within States etc?
Any help on the above issue ???

    It is out now

  • OBIEE 11g - Maps with Google Map as Source

    Hi Experts,
Am trying to create some maps using information from Google Maps as source.
In Map-viewer console, I have added Google Maps as the source in 'Manage Map Tile Layer' and was able to see the base map when I did a 'View Map/Manage Tiles'.
However when I logged into analytics and tried to import layers, am not able to see anything.
Is there anything that I am missing out. Thanks for any pointers.
    - Sujana

Spatial data has to be setup in the database to get layers. I tried using some of the layers from the spatial data I had and then could get a map with google map as the background map.
But couldn't find any easy alternate to fetch layer information.

  • OBIEE 11g Map question

    Hi all,
We are using OBIEE 11g Mapviewer to display some results. We have point as well as polygon location geometries which combined with other dimensions display scores on the map.
It seems there is a restriction on the display graphics that can be used based on a geometry type. It is something like the following table:
    Geometry Type - Graphic Format
Polygon - Color Fill, Bubble, Pie Graph, and Bar Graph
Point - Bubble, Variable Shape, Image, and Custom Point
We display a pie graph of scores on a given polygon and would like to keep it standard irrespective of the underlying geometry.
I was wondering if its possible to force use a Pie Graph on Point geometry?
Please let us know if there is a way to solve this. Really appreciate your time.
    Thanks!

    Hi
Your best bet is to follow the Security Guide:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E20490_01/bia.7963/e19042.pdf
Really you just need to make sure the Responsibility names are the same as the Application Roles. So either you create new responsibilities in EBS to match the existing (seeded) roles or you create new roles in OBI Apps to match your existing responsibilites. Both ways round are valid and it all depends on your security solution.
    Thanks

  • OBIEE Wth Map viewer

    Hi Frnds,
Presently we are using OBIEE 10g. We have some reports for which we need to integrate with Oracle Map viewer.
We are available with both Oracle Map viewer Versions 10 and 11.
Which one would better suites for OBIEE 10g ? Suggestions and feedback.
If Oracle Map viewer 10 why not 11 ? Any reasons ??
It would be grt if some body guides me for step by step integration of OBIEE10g with Oracle map viewer.
    Thank you....

I guess mapviewer 10g is no more available for download..., so that's why i went ahead with 11g mapviewer...
Anyways , you can raise an SR with Oracle Support...
Few more links that might be useful to you..

  • Spatial/Map visualizations in OBI 11g 1.1.0.5, ONLY sql server DB avialable

    Dear all,
Could anyone please provide what are the steps to implement MAP based analysis in OBIEE 11g 1...5 version.
Please NOTE we are having only SQL server database with us. All the links and material i found on net so far provides steps to implement it if Oracle database is available.
but we don't have Oracle database at all.
    thanks,

yeah..kind of sad......but heard somewhere..once the keys are mapped after temporary use of oracle DB ....it can work from SQL server too...not sure what does that mean....

  • OBIEE 11g Map

    Hi all,
I'm using OBIEE 11.1.1.6. And trying to get some MAP Reports, its working fine, but only for the states of USA. Can anyone tell me, how to use to get map for states/cities other than USA.

  • OBIEE 11g  Map View - Issue with Label Translation

    Hi All,
I have a strange translation issue with the Maps in 11g.
Created in English language to plot the Revenue for each of the Postal Codes.
I selected Postal Code and Revenue Amount in the Criteria and created a new Map View. It had the text 'Postal Code' in the Map Legend and then the scale for revenue amount.
Now I logged on with Chinese Language , it still appears as 'Postal Code' in English where in it was actually supposed to show it in Chinese.
We have a translation pack to get all the column names translated. If I try creating a new table view, it shows the translated text instead of 'Postal Code', but some how this doesn't work with Maps.
Has anyone faced similar issues ? Is there a workaround for this ?
    Thanks for any pointers.

    Hi,
I also encounter the same issue. When I view combined layout, I get the No Results message. But when I edit the table layout, I see that there are records returned. Does anyone had any luck in resolving this issue?
    Thanks!

  • Oracle Open World Hands on lab for Google Map like spatial demo

    Hi,
I have participated in the hand on lab for Oracle Spatial + Map Viewer + Ajax + APEX. It was said there that the demo will be soon dowloadable from OTN. Is it know when will this happen?

Are you using the latest production 10.1.3.1 MapViewer? which browser are you using? Can you open the page in FireFox and post any error messages from its JavaScript console? without these info it's hard to know what might have gone wrong. The JavaScript console is found under FireFox's menu Tools -> JavaScript console (or Error console in the latest version). You may need to clear it first before opening your application.
For instance, it might be due to some typo when you are adding/defining the search tool bar on top of the map. More specifically, the "go" and "clear" buttons invoke javaScript functions defined in p1.js. if you make a typo when creating these buttons the JavaScript function may not be called at all which means you won't be able to draw the search area on the map. not saying this is the cause, but it is one of many things that could go wrong, and without any meaningful error messages we have no way to help you.
