OBIEE vs OBIEE PLUS

We understand that obiee does not contain essbase. Essbase can be intregated with obiee plus. but does obiee can do 'What if' analysis?
If yes, then which component does it for OBIEE.

You can use Java Script codes on OBIEE Dashboards to perform What If Analysis. I don't have a specific code, it should be based on your logic. But I know this can be achieved in this way.

It's possible but you will have to set different ports in the 11g installation.
You need to review the Supported OSes as your hardware might no work in 10g. In 11g software only install is supported.

OBIEE 11g + OBIEE 11g Samples (rel.825)

Hi all.
I'm quite new in OBIEE 11g. I used to have some experiences with version 10g but 11g seems to be more advanced.
Generally I've installed DB11g then OBIEE 11g and started configuring samples according to documentation regarding release 825.
Everything went fine but when I try to run any report I get errors like:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. [nQSError: 43119] Query Failed: [nQSError: 17001] Oracle Error code: 1017, message: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied at OCI call OCISessionBegin. [nQSError: 17014] Could not connect to Oracle database. (HY000)
Problem is that I can't find out what user is it talking about !
During installation I've created:
- BISAMPLE/BISAMPLE
- obiee_navteq (for maps)
Both user profiles and other BI profies are working fine. So I have no idea where shall I look for mistake.
On EM application for 'coreapplication' I see errors like:

How to find out the web/app server used by OBIEE and OBIEE HomePath (Urgent

Hi All ,
I have two questions
1) I wanted to know the OBIEE home path if it is installed on the some other machine (Client's Machine).
I wanted to update the .css files present on the machine, but before updating the file i should know the home path, to reach the desired .css file and update accordingly. I dont know where they have installed OBIEE.By default OBIEE home is (c:\) but if the user has selected some other drive then, how we can find the OBIEE Home path?
I have the access to the machine.
2) The path of the CSS files depends on the web server used by OBIEE.
When IIS web server is used, the CSS files in OracleBI_HOME\web\app\res directory
when OC4J is used, the CSS files in OracleBI_HOME\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res
so inorder to update i must know which server is being used.
Is there any way to find out which web application server is installed on the clients machine?

Hi All,
We have OBIEE version 10.1.3.3.3 on Windows Server 2003 R2. Its a clustered environment comprising of 2 web servers, 2 App servers and 2 scheduler servers.
All of sudden we have started facing issue that sometimes when the user tries to navigate between dashboards, the Login screen comes up.
And this is not consistent, sometimes the user is able to do the stuff, but sometimes he gets the login screen.
Has anybody encountered this kind of problem before?

No, I am an administrator. I too have same problem. I tested everything on dashboard/answers. everything else is working find but dashboard tabs are not working.

Oracle Obiee - Send Obiee reports to multiple recipients

Hello All,
Can anyone tell me how to send Obiee reports to multiple recipients?
I have used the ibot of Oracle Obiee. And ibot is working fine for the Creator of the ibot but it is not able to send reports to other recipients.
When i get mail from Oracle Delivers the To section is empty and bcc section contains the creator of the ibot.
Please help me on this.

Oracle BI Enterprise Edition comes with a BI Suite, Is it a seperate package? what are the added components or key differentiators of OBIEE and OBIEE PLUS. I couldnt see a seperate package for OBIEE PLUS on otn.

OBIEE plus added Hyperion and Essbase. There is no separate download. You should only Hyperion and Essbase if you are licensed for them.

Spotfire Vs OBIEE

Hi Experts ,
We are looking for Spotfire Vs OBIEE.
Please suggest if there is any document.

Spotfire is a visual analysis tool. Business users they themselves can change the view / apply filter etc and share their analysis for other users. It's much better than the spread sheets and smarter than conventioanl BI tools. On the otherhand OBIEE can handle data from any datasources where the reports/promts etc are pre-built on the dashboard. End users cannot change the report/chart data themselves. However, they can apply filter through the dashboard prompt. This again has to be created by developers. OBIEE can handle data volume much much higher than Spotfire. To me, Spotfire crashes or takes long time when opening extremely large files (dxp).
My cutomer is a world's largest FMCG customer who uses both OBIEE and Spotfire (plus few others) for reporting. Top management uses Spotfire as they will analyse data at much higher level. Whereas OBIEE is used by all levels of their management.

Unable to import tables through ODBC in obiee 11g

Hi all,
In obiee 11g,
OBIEE 11g is successfully installed but when i am trying to import the tables in RPD through odbc then it is giving a problem.
I have tried using the OCI and it is working fine but can anyone tell me why it is not happening through odbc.
created the dSN for it and it is working fine.

OBIEE content cannot be displayed in the IFrame

Hi,
After embedding OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 into EPM 11.1.2.1 EPM System Workspace ,i am getting below message ,while navigating through different dashboards (I have several tab's/pages under one dashboard and several dashboard links are present under each tab/page).
OBIEE content cannot be displayed in the IFrame .
I have tried the instanceconfig.xml and web.xml modifications And cleaning browser cache as per below blog ,but still the message is getting displayed .

Read through the content of this in MOS: Integration Of Obiee In 8.1.1.3: "OBIEE content cannot be displayed in the IFRAME" [ID 1296232.1]
Although applying the security setting is a workaround to fix this problem, oracle highly recommends to use Virtual IP or single OHS/Apache/IIS solution be adopted instead.

OBIEE Repository and webcatalog deployment with WLST

Hi,
Being novice in weblogic with integration of OBIEE 11G, i heard we have WLST (Weblogic Scripting Tool), is it something like UNIX scripting?, My references told me that we can do many administration tasks that are done in GUI consoles with help of WLST using OEPE (Oracle Enterpise Pack for Eclipse). Now my question is can we deploy OBIEE Repository, OBIEE catalog and start/restart/stop BI services using WLST?

OBIEE: incorrect selection of fact table when generating SQL

I have 2 dimension tables ("DimA" and "DimB") connected with one fact table ("Fact1").
Also (only) "DimB" is connected with another fact table "Fact2".
When I want to make a report with one attribute ("Attribute_A") from "DimA" and another one ("Attribute_B") from "DimB", I receive a error like this:
"State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 15018] Incorrectly defined logical table source (for fact table Fact2) does not contain mapping for [DimA.Attribute_A]. (HY000)"
Remember that is not supposed "DimA" to be connected with "Fact2", only with "Fact1".
The only factor that I see that can be a problem is the fact that in Presentation Catalog was defined a implicit column from tact table "Fact2".

While I don't know the need to generate a report based on 2 dimensions only, I mean you are trying to generate a report between 2 dimensions. Dimensions are not joined together in OBIEE. OBIEE will try to pull any fact and try to obtain the relationship between the two dimensions. In your case it is taking Fact2.
One way could be if u just pull in some measure from Fact1, then u should be able to get the report.
Else u can try setting content level for DimA in fact 2 to grand total level. This can be done even though dimA and Fact2 are not joined. Although I am not sure whether this will work.
