OBIEE11g  dynamic currency reports

Hi All
Is there a way to have a report build that will show data in different currencies when opened from different locations.
For example i have a report as below.
PRODUCT_ID,PRODUCT_NAME,SALES_AMOUNT
When opened in INDIA i see the SALES_AMOUNT in rupees and when opened in UK i see it in GBP.
Please advise.

Hi Swastik,
You would need to have a lookup on a table that had currency conversion values, then have an additional table that contains the username and country that they are in. You would then need to bring the country into a session variable via an initialisation block and then filter your report/lookup based on that.

    I have a problem processing a dynamic sql report, specifically in referencing the PL/SQL column headings I have.
    Basically I have a report that generates one row for each project a person belongs to, and then using htmldb_item.text creates one field for each day of the week (sysdate - sysdate+6) so that people can enter their hours worked. The idea is they then press a submit button and the hours are entered into a project table something like (date_worked, project_id, hours_worked), one row for each entry.
    So I have:
    for i in 1..HTMLDB_APPLICATION.G_F01.count
    loop
    ... err... here I want to insert into the table the values(column_header, project_id, HTMLDB_APPLICATION.G_F01(i)).. but I don't know how to access that column_header value.
    Is this possible and if so, how?

    header... so for example:Yes, I understood what you meant. I did have a differect project_id for each INSERT in my SQL above. I guess that should have been day_id
    Since you are generating the tabular form SQL manually, you know which htmldb_item.text index corresponds to which column (which represents day_id in your case). So, use this to write 6 INSERT statements, one for each day. day_id would be a number going from 0 thru 6 where 0 represents Sunday and 6 represents Saturday.
    Bottom line: This is like generating/updating a calendar, your column headings are always fixed (Sun thru Saturday), just the date they represent would change.

    IField field = table.getDataFields().getField(i);
    Here you are getting the first field in the array.  This may not be the field you want to add since we aren't sure how the arrays are ordered when retrieving fields from the report.  It is better to retrieve the fields with the findObjectByName method, thus ensuring you are retrieving the field you want to add to your heading.

    We need to assign values to place holder dynamically in report pages based on the page number.
    Basic requirement is to have dynamic images (generated in before report trigger with file name having timestamp and page number) in dynamic pages (getting repeated based on number of lines in the report).
    Is there any way we can have a place holder mapped to this field (Read from file, type: Image) and change the source dynamically when each page is formatted?
    Any pointers for this will be helpful.

  • How to create a dynamic tree report

    hi experts,
           i have a requirement to create a dynamic tree report in OM module.
      this report should show the number of people positions required in a org unit, and also the number of people available in a org unit.
      There is something called as qualification catalog to which qualifications are attached, to these qualifications org units are attached, these org units will have some positions attached to it, and each of this position might have a person attached to it.
    The user will enter the qualification catalog number in the selection screen for which he should be getting the result in a tree format which flows from qualification catalog to qualifications, from qualifications to org units, from orgunits to the total no of positions present in this orgunit and the no of positions occupied in the orgunit.
      This is a challenging job as far as i am concerned.
    Please suggest me a way to approach this,i promise to reward the answers.

Thereafter, when the application type is consolidation, the dynamic hierarchy replaces Groups and Entity in the Current View. In addition, when you select the Group dimension in the Current View, the dynamic hierarchy stored with ownership application displays instead of the normal dimension hierarchy.

    The help indicates there is a 'setting' to make in the current view selector, thereafter when the app type is consolidation, the dynamic hierarchy replaces group/entity - where is setting and how do i set it?

    Hi Hiren,
    I'm afraid I can't give you good news, as we have the same issue (same version).  We have been told by SAP that this is bug in the MS version, which I believe they are working on, however no news as yet as to when they expect to issue a fix for it.

  • Inserting titles between multiple dynamic EPM reports

    Hi,
    I am currently working on some templates where there are multiple dynamic EPM reports with shared column dimensions and multiple dimensions in the rows.  I am using EPM Add-in SP21 patch 1.
    We would like to have a section title appearing between the reports, I have tried a number of methods but have not found a solution that produces quality results.
    Methods tried:
    1. A local member on the row inserted at the start of the second report.  The local member text appears in the right most row dimension column which is not the right place for a title.  Also the titles for the dimension rows are not copied.
    2. Insert a dummy member and override the member name.  There are a couple of problems with this method, subsequent dimension ID's are populated and local members are also applied to this member.
    3. EPMInsertCellsBeforeAfterBlock.  I only managed to get this to copy a single cell into the data columns, not the row dimension columns.
    4. Use VBA to add a title.  The API GetDataTopLeftCell will return the starting position of data in a specific report.  This can then be used to insert text into the previous line as a title.  The disadvantage here is that VBA is being used but it can be used to produce the required results though you need to handle formatting and any password protection within the VBA.
    I imagine that this is quite a common requirement.  Ideally I would like to solve this without resorting to VBA or some exotic workaround.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

    I want results similar to what I have achieved using VBA.  Where I have one row for column titles, which I am copying using Excel formulas, these should appear on every column including the dimension columns.  On the row above this should be a subsection title, in this example this is "Bezüger"
    The screen shots contain two reports, one below the other with shared column axis.  The second report has been shifted down by a couple of rows to introduce a break between the reports.
    Using VBA I inserted titles onto two rows, with a section title above a repeat of the original column header.
    The best that I have achieved using local members resulted in a title being on the right most column, and there being no way to put title column header above the dimension columns.
    I have played around with all the options for the local member but find no way to make the title appear in the left most column.
    In this screen shot, the local member is disabled, because I have replaced it with the VBA solution.
    I hope that the updated screen shots make this clearer to you.

  • Multiple Parameter Dynamic Query/Report

    I'm very much a newbie to both APEX and SQL. I want to create a page with two regions, one used to hold parameters (LOV Select Lists), and one to reflect a dynamic SQL report including filtering the results using the values of the items in the select lists.
    I can do this with one Parameter/LOV select list - but am not clear on how to code for multiple parameters.
    Can someone give me an example on how to code the query, to include multiple parameters (P1_Empl, P1_AssetNo, P1_AssetType, etc)? The query with 'null' parameters/filters gives you all records; with any or many parameters acting as filters the query and resulting report would reflect the value of the filters.
    In addition, is there a specific type of region that needs to be used for the report region?
    Implied is the question - how do you handle the initial page view, so no error messages are seen - I'd like to get all records as a default.

    The where clause: I'm guessing it is checking e.deptno = d.deptno
    but then what is (+)?
    can I use the '(+) and' to add on sections for each select list/parameter?
    In the paran part of the where clause, I get the first part and the use of 'or' - but I'm not sure what the last statement is doing.
    e.deptno is null AND ?? if there is a null value in P3_Department_ID return -1 otherwise return -1 ??
    I'm lost at that point as I clearly don't understand the syntax.
    Would you suggest multiple clauses in a where statement in order to add multiple filter values, and how do I handle nulls so those filters are not used/relfected?
    I am not using a self submitting LOV select list - I am using a button to refresh the query region manually
    I am comfortable with using an interactive report, but that interface is not what I need to present.
    As I indicated - I'm weak in the SQL area and need an example on how to code this type of query.

    When you post a document in foreign currency, the system stores the amount in both local currency and foreign currency in each line item. The system checks whether the currency key has been defined and is therefore permitted.
    Foreign currencies are needed, for example,
    To post and save receivables and payables in foreign currency
    For handling payment transactions in foreign currency
    Managing accounts in foreign currency (foreign currency balance sheet accounts)
    Carrying out the consolidation and reporting for groups.
    In the line items, all amounts are saved in both currencies. These include the posting amount, tax amount, and cash discount amount.
    Prerequisites
    You have made the following specifications in the Implementation Guide under Global Settings:
    Currency key for each currency
    Number of decimal places (if you do not require the usual two decimal places)
    Local currency per company code
    Exchange rate between local and foreign currency
    In the master records for the G/L accounts, you have to define the currencies you can use to post to that account.
    If exchange rate differences arise during clearing or valuating of items or accounts in foreign currency, the system generates postings. To enable the system to do this, you must have defined G/L accounts and posting keys.
    Activities
    To specify the foreign currency for your document, enter the appropriate currency key in the Currency field in the document header. There are several ways to enter an exchange rate:
    · Enter a posting date and the currency key in the document header. The system automatically transfers the exchange rate valid on the posting date. Exchange rates are defined in the system.
    · You can also enter the exchange rate directly in the document header via the currency key and exchange rate fields.
    · Enter a translation date in the document header. The system then automatically takes the exchange rate valid on this translation date.
    The valid exchange rate is the one entered on the posting date or on the translation date, or the rate entered at an earlier time. For example, if you post a document on August 25, but the last exchange rate in the system setting is from August 22, the system uses the exchange rate from the entry on August 22.
    You can enter the amount in each line item in both local and foreign currency.
    You can enter documents in any foreign currency for which a currency key is defined in the system. If you manage a G/L account, for example a bank account, in a foreign currency, you can only post documents to this G/L account in the account currency, that is, the foreign currency.
