.OBJ files crash my CS4 Bridge

I've been suffering from a lot of Bridge crashes lately (used to work just fine) and have discovered now through testing that when I navigate to folders that contain .obj files, Bridge beachballs.
Loking in the file type associations I see that obj is not listed and I wouldn't expect Bridge to be able to display it it either but it would be nice if it didn't crash. I'm not filing my work any differently than I ever have and I never came across this problem before.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks

First things to try is Refresh preferences (restart Bridge holding down
option key and choose refresh preferences) and preferable also purge cache
for folder using the tools menu. However I doubt this will function if the
beach ball is spinning.
Better move the .obj files outside the folder using finder and then try
again to purge cache for the folder it was in before.
If the problem persist you could open a case with Adobe Tech using the
contact button on this site. Not that will it help you for this version but
it might be for next releases

    Click on START

DROP NEW PLUG IN IN FILE YOU HAVE OPEN
    CLOSE
    RE OPEN PS 32 BIT
AND YOU SHOULD SEE IT UNDER HELP/PLUG INS / CAMERA RAW
AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO OPEN YOUR FILES JUST FINE
AND OPEN THEM IN BRIDGE TOO
If it doesn't work, I suggest calling me and I can help you. If you are worried about me having your number just hit *67 and then 1, and then my area code and phone number* I have no alterior motives as I was simply in the same boat you are in now and I am just trying to help.
The download is a simple download, but if you put it in the wrong file, you can REALLY mess up your CS4 capabilites. which is why I specifically wanted to help you and walk you thru it step by step.
I hope I didn't leave anything out. Like I said, easier to tell someone on the phone so I can hear what it is you are looking at on your system so I can walk u thru it  is all.

  • CS4 Bridge Colour Issue.

Using my Canon 5D MKII, I shoot everything in RAW with the colour space set in the camera to Adobe RGB. Looking at the RAW files in Adobe CS4 Bridge, the Metadata file properties states that the Colour profile is 'Untagged'. Is that correct - or should it say Adobe RGB?
When you open up the RAW file in ACR, it states that the image has the Adobe RGB profile at the bottom of the screen and when it comes into PS, no profile mismatch warning comes up. Its only when you save the image as a PSD file when the metadata Colour Profile states Adobe RGB.
    Also...
Since moving onto Windows Vista, if I am displaying images in Bridge through a video projector, the colours look over-saturated, whilst images displayed in other applications look fine. This does not happen on my standard monitor.
Any ideas what might be causing this?

Ray, it will do a lot more good if you file an official bug report at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
Be sure to describe the configuration in extreme detail.

  • CS4 Bridge Crashes When Sony HDR-SR11 MPG Selected

    Greetings all,
I'm brand new to CS4 moving from CS2 and have not used Bridge before. I use a Sony HDR-SR11 cam. If I try to access the cam hard drive through bridge or open a folder with MPG files from this cam, Bridge CRASHES. I get the "Adobe Bridge has encountered a problem and needs to close"--Send Error Report/Don't Send pop up window.
If I try to open an MPG file from this cam that has been processed by another program--burned to DV then ripped back to MPG using other software, the file works just fine.
I have tried opening the cam's MPG files...
Directly from the cam drive -- crash
From files copied from cam to computer hard drive with Windows Navigator--crash
From files on computer hard drive placed there by Sony cam software.
The MPG files work fine in Premiere.
I have installed all the Adobe Updates for CS4.
    PLEASE HELP!
    THANKS!

  • CS4 Bridge crashes system

I am suddenly having a problem with CS4 Bridge causing my computer to crash (blue screen of death) whenever I attempt to use Bridge.  I have contacted Adobe through their "support portal" several times over the past week and have receive no assistance whatsoever.  I have also called their telephone support three times and was assured that someone would be in touch but have heard nothing.  I am one week into this problem and am unable to use CS4 and bridge.  I have uninstalled (complete cleansing) and reinstalled CS4 four times and the problem persists.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Wil Tifft

I've posted the following in other Post for the same problem... hope it helps (no one seem to even mention what i've done so, maybe i'm genius or plain stupid)
    Hi!
I hope you've managed to solve the problem. But just in case i'll tell you that i had the same headache and i've solved (or worked around it) by enabling the Software rendering under the Bridge Advanced Preferences Tab.
The thing is that Bridge will work fine until you want to use the magnifying glass on the preview tab (it will ralentize a bit)... But, you can still make your thumbnails on the content tab bigger so you don't have to zoom in all the time except you need to view some tiny details on the file you are looking for.
That worked for me... and i didn't even tried any of the other solutions shown here... i'll hope that in time the nVidia drivers get updated soon and this problem will disappear. Unfortunately, to try and see if it is fixed you'll have to turn off Bridge's software rendering after updating the driver and then take the risk of another sudden reboot.
    Cheers!

  • Photoshop CS4 - File Type Associations and Bridge CS4

I have both Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop Elements 7.0 installed on my PC running Windows Vista Home Premium, I removed Photoshop CS3 after installing CS4. The issue I have is that if I look at file associations in Bridge CS4 under Preferences, none of the file types are set to Photoshop CS4, they are set to either Explorer or Photoshop Elements 7.0. The even stranger thing is also that if I try to change the associations, Photoshop CS4 is not even displayed as an option, as Photoshop Elements 7.0 always is, I have to browse in order to find it. This works, but I find it strange. Also within Windows none of the file associations are set to Photoshop CS4 after installation, I have to change them manually, again by browsing for it. I remember that in previous installs of Photoshop there was the possibility to change or use default file associtions, does CS4 have this? I guess this is not really a problem, but I find it somewhat strange that Elements 7.0 is always offered as an option but not CS4 and makes me feel it hasn't installed properly. Anyone have any ideas?

CCleaner did the trick for me too!
But I still suspect something about CS4 installer is not right.
Under CS3 I used Vista "open with">"choose program">"always use" to assiciate bridge CS3 with my canon camera raw files.. At that time it did work.
After installing CS4, I wanted to do the same with bridge CS4 but it didnt work. In the "choose program" vista menu, whatever I was doing, I couldnt select bridge CS4 it was always comming back to photoshop cs4 or bridge cs3.
After using CCleaner, I could re-associate the way I want right away.
So my word to photoshop's installer developper: please try to reproduce this issue, it should be easy, and make the installer avoid this.
    Thanks

  • CR2 files open in CS4 but not in Bridge

I'm running Windows XP, CS4 11.02. Bridge 3.0.0.464, ACR 5.7, which I installed using the Updater. I purged my Bridge cache. Still get the "No Items to display" when I try to access my CR2 files. I can open the files (although I can't see thumbnails) in CS4.
    I'm stumped. Any suggestions?
    Chris

Most of the problems with ACR are one of 2 things.  Either
you have the file in the wrong folder, or there is more than one file there.
The file should be in Program files/COMMOM FILES/Adobe/plugins/cs4/file formats  if I remember correctly.

  • Can't batch files on network from bridge cs4

Started having this problem a few weeks ago, up until then I have always been able to use Bridges Batch command to process images on our file server. Our file server runs Samba, and no user authentication is needed.
If I use Bridge, and try to batch images that are on the server [Tools > Photoshop > Batch] then Photoshop gives me this error:
"FatalError: General Photoshop error occurred. This functionality may not be available in this version of Photoshop. - <no additional information available>"
But, if I run a batch from Photoshop [File > Automate > Batch] then I can process images on the server fine.
I can use Bridge to batch to Photoshop if those images are on my desktop/local disk.
So the error happens when Bridge tries to tell Photoshop which images to batch, if those files are on the file server. I've tried different files that have been created at different times (years) and from different machines but still the same error.
Not sure what has caused it, maybe an Apple update or something. We've  had that issue in the past when Snow Leopard couldn't write to Samba  drives because of the UNIX file name thing, but Apple did get around to  patching that. Maybe it's Adobe's way of trying to get us to upgrade to CS5..
    System Specs:
    iMac
    OSX 10.6.4
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz,
    4GB DDR3 RAM
    320GB HD
    Adobe Design Premium CS4
    Bridge: 3.0.0.464
    Photoshop: 11.0.2

If I use Bridge, and try to batch images that are on the server [Tools >
Photoshop > Batch] then Photoshop gives me this error:
"FatalError: General Photoshop error occurred. This functionality may not be
available in this version of Photoshop. - <no additional information
    available>"
Without knowing anything about working on a network this problem usually is
solved after having refreshed the preferences for Bridge. Have you already
    tried that?
Restart Bridge holding down alt key and from the menu choose reset
preferences. This brings them back to default settings so any custom
settings should be reset again to your own wishes.
The 10.6.4. update gave me a lot of problems with CS5 that temporarily have
been solved by disable OpenGL for CS5. This update might have caused also
this problem for you but that is not a certainty...

  • Is it possible to have cs5 Bridge open cs4 ai files actually in cs4 rather than opening them in cs5

I recently upgraded from mac cs4 to cs5.5. Due to a bug? with cs5 ai illustrator 'Pixel Preview' won't show 1 bit tiff files as it did in cs4 (the workaround is time consuming/wasting). This is a problem for me as most of my files contain them, GGrrrr. Is it possible to have cs5 Bridge open cs4 ai files actually in cs4 rather than opening them in cs5?

Is it possible to have cs5 Bridge open cs4 ai files actually in cs4 rather than opening them in cs5?
Yes, either set the file type association in Bridge prefs for 'ai' at CS4. But it seems somewhat difficult when having newer versions, sometimes whatever pref settings in Bridge or Finder/get info/ open with/you try it keeps opening in the latest version.
In that case either drag and drop the files on the CS4 icon in the dock or with right click mouse menu choose open with and select illustrator CS4.
Although you can only have one version of Bridge open at the time you can have the other suite applications from different version open at the same time.

  • Unable to open CR2 files in PSE8 or Bridge CS4?

Unable to open CR2 files in PSE8 or Bridge CS4? Any help would be appreciated.

You would need PSE 11 to open those files directly into PSE. Your options are:
    1. Use DPP instead.
    2. Download the free DNG converter and use that to convert your raw files to dng files that your version of the raw converter can open:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5518
    3. Upgrade to PSE 11, although that won't help Bridge any.

  • CS4 Bridge not showing all files

I'm working on a 1TB drive in a directory with about 1000 dng files.  When use Bridge not all files are shown and there are no filters selected.  I go into the directory using Windows Explorer and they are indeed there.  I can select the file in Windows Explorer and open it in Photoshop without any problems.  Any help would be appreciated.

Strange, when I set the option to show reject and hidden files nothing changed.  When I set the show items from subfolders all the images appeared.  The strange part is that they are all in the same directory.  At least it works now.  Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

  • CS4 Bridge and Photoshop crash when closing

I am experiencing regular crashes with both Bridge and PS when I attempt to close them. Everything works until that time. I am using an iMac running 10.5.6. This is more nuisance than worry. Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Jeff

    hi jeff
I've seen random crashes on closing and random freezes with a new box and 10.5.6. There are a couple posts here about stability issues, I'm not sure where the problem is, PS, OS, fonts, who knows, but there's something going on.
And, since we (end users) don't have access to a bug list or known problems list with the exception of posts here on the forum, it seems that we are destined to revisit the same problems.

  • Why the RAW files appear as exec files in CS4 Bridge?

I'm wondering how I can make my RAW files visible in CS4. I'm using the new iMac 10.8.3. Everything worked well in Tiger.

    Canon 7D and 5D III
I believe you mean that only some files appear as 'exec', just a rounded rectangle icon with grey gradient and top left corn in green 'EXEC', the file extension shows '.CTG'. This is the file that sorts stuff on the CF card and you can safely delete this or simply ignore once the files have been imported on your computer.
If you check the file size of this icon you will see it has only a couple of 100 bytes, depending on the amount of files you have shot on one day or session so not even 1 kb while your Raw files will probably are around 15 or 20 MB in file size
