Object manager free search in PA20

Hi,
I am using a custom infotype for object manager free search.
In the 'HR object selection' screen that comes after clicking on the free search, I am giving pernr and subtype 6 of infotype 6 (Addresses) with 'Value selection' and 'Value output' checked.But in the ouput that comes in the hitlist, the corresponding pernr is showed with the subtype 4 instead of 6 (ie, It is taking the first subtype available for the pernr in the hit list).
I have checked the custom infoset and it is working properly.
Is there any setting to done for this issue of object manager?

Hi Ghanapriya,
Go to SM31 - T77S0 and create the following entry:
YPPOM YPRBT PRINT_OFF
Now your print button will disappear.
For other buttons, I don't guess there is a solution.

Free Search PA20: Using special infoset for specific users

How can i change the free search type in PA20/PA30 for a specific user?

You have a possibility to maintain object manager in PA20/PA30 via SM31: table T77FOBJMAN
Choose scenario EMPLOYEE, mark and check the search tool
For the Free search is used CL_HR_ST_ADHOC_SELECTION. Not sure how flexible is this class to be set up to call with your own variant...

Object Manager: Using PA20 or PA30. Hit List

Dear Team:
When using the transaction PA20 or PA30, we see the Object Manager in the Left side pane, which shows the Search Area and Selection Area. In the Selection Area, I am getting the HIT LIST, which retrieves all the employees data. As this is retrieving this information, it is taking too much time to open the transactin PA20 or PA30.
How to disable this HIT LIST function. Is this be achieved by the settings in the menu or in the configuration of Object Manager. Please check and let me know on the same

For your information, Ensured that the configuration in our Development, Quality, and Production are same. And more over we cannot change anything is quality or Production and even in testing client directly the configuration, but in Development the HIT LIST is disabled and also in Production. This is available in Quality.
This is the reason, why I just wanted to know is there any menu settings involved in disabling the same. And in the Object Manger configuration, I do not know exactly where to change as I have not checked before as there are lot of technical options.
Inputs in this regard is highly appreciated.

Object Manager calls: do they use database or search?

I am at a customer undergoing a 4.5 to 6.1 upgrade. Part of the upgrade is writing an app to consolidate our ~14,000 web services to a base set. I am using .NET and the remote APIs to do this.
My question is, do ObjectManager calls make direct calls to the database or do they use the search index? If it uses search, then I would need to wait for it to build, before running the app, which of course would take hours to build.
Spy tells me that they are database calls, but I wanted to get confirmation of that.

If you're using the IDK, the IDK function you use isn't making the call, but the existing layers of functionality does.
IDK -> http -> portal -> server api -> db
and vice versa back.
Search index is not used in the Object Manager.

Hit list in PA20/PA30 Object Manager

When you do a search in the object manager, it comes up with the hit list at the bottom of the screen, and a label which says "hit list" - my users would like to see a total number in the hit list, in the same way it appears in adhoc query. Doe anyone know if this can be configured/customised to show the number in the hit list?

I don't think it is possible to output hit list entry quantity in standard search help however you can create a customer search help for PREM object adding a variable that would count match entries and output message thru ABAP sentence:
MESSAGE s000(zhr) WITH lv_counter 'entries found'.

PA30- Object Manager

In PA30 if we switch on the object manager, we get a section in the left hand side "Find by".
Here we get only "Person" and under it "Collective search help", "Search Term" and "Free Search".
How can we add other objects in this section like Organizational unit, Position, Job etc. as we get in the Object Manager in PPOME

PA30 transaction is designed only to show employees.
If you add org unit, position, etc to Object manager, then it is contrary to the aim of this transaction.
If you, however, wanna see people belonging to a particular org unit or position, then you can use "Organizational Assignment" tab in the collective search help.

PA42 & object manager

Is there a possibility to use object manager with transaction PA42 ? This should be usefull to select all pernrs together which need a certain action.

in pa20 pa30 pa40 pa61 ... there is the possibility to select pernrs in the left side of the screen (object manager). It is easy to select a population to be threated (free selection or organizational) and by doubleclicking the pernr left, you can handle them in pa20 pa30 ....
But in PA42 i cannot display this left side of the screen. Pa42 is for individual actions, but it should be much easier to perform the action by doubleclicking on the pernr i need on the left side of the screen ..

HCM ERP Scenario Object Manager customizing

"Structure search" and "free search" in input help

I need to have an input help for my PERNR field, right now i am using search help PREMN and calling FM F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST inorder to display the input help. But, in addition to this, i wnat the tabs "Structure search " , "Free search" to be displayed in teh input help pop up screen.
How can i achieve this?

Just write it this way
parameters:p_pernr type pa0001-pernr matchcode object PREM.
Now once you hit f4 help. The search help will be displayed with all tabs, once you choose the free search tab the respective screen will be displayed.Now if you want to return to other tabs you must choose the button in bottom of the free search screen which is in between "Green tick mark" and "Close button".

OOP Generic Object Manager

Has any of the OOP programmers out there ever developed a generic object manager? What I mean by this is a an Object in LabVIEW that can hold references to all objects in an application that can be accessed generically through a name input and not via know each individual class type. I have been trying to create a class that essentially has as its attributes an array of LV Objects since all objects descend from this class. I am struggling with getting the specific class back from the generic class. If I probe the array it shows the class specific type.
So what I am trying to do is search an array of standard LabVIEW Objects for a specific LabVIEW type. Here I created an array of LabVIEW object by casting specific classes to the most generic class - LabVIEW Object. Then I want to search an array for a specific class by taking a specific class constant and casting it to a more generic class. It seems like it keeps the reference information (ID).
Any thoughts?

LV2009 added a function which is probably crucial to delivering a nice solution to this problem. The function is called Preserve Run-time Class. It allows you to propogate the strict type of an object through a subVI that is coded to operate on a more generic class type.
Here's an example written in LV2009 for a simple class that stores any other LV class object by name.

Free search hit list +PPOSE

The free search functionality for PPOSE (Object type position) always shows A003 relationship irrespective of the input parameters used.
For e.g , even if the input parameters entered in free search is Related Object type-P, Relationship type -A 008, the output in the hit list is always A003.
Can you please advise how data is picked up to be populated in the hit list?

Try this options mentioned in the SAP note
In the initial screen HELP --> Settings . Go to the tab F4 Help . Go to change mode and choose "Dialog" instead of "Control".
Now for F4 help you will get a check box "No restriction". Use this Check box and try again.
I guess performance will be seriously affected

Configuration to change infoset behind 'Free search' in PA?

We are using a custom infoset for our solution. I am looking for configuration to enter this as the infoset behind 'Free search' tab eg. in PA20. Looking in IMG, all I can find is a place to turn off free search, and SAP recommends this if you use custom infosets.
Can change if infoset be configured?

I am not entirely sure about this, but I think its infoset /SAPQUERY/HR_ADM. This is stored in table T77OMAHQ_FUNCARS under scenario EMPLOYEE.

Workflow for Resource Object Management

Hi All,
I'm attempting to perform resource object management on an LDAP resource and have the following questions for a workflow related to this:
1. Do I need to checkout the view for the LDAP resource to perform resource object management (by this I mean something similar to creating or updating a group within LDAP)?
2. I will also be using a custom resource adapter to perform resource object management on that adapter. Can I assume that similar mechansims for LDAP will apply to my custom resource adapter?
3. Can anyone point me to some standard workflows for resource object management, point any further docs (I've through the workflows, views, and forms, as well as the deployment guide for resource adapters).
4. Does anyone have any examples of resource object managment they would be willing to share and explain.
