Object Manager: Using PA20 or PA30. Hit List

Dear Team:
When using the transaction PA20 or PA30, we see the Object Manager in the Left side pane, which shows the Search Area and Selection Area. In the Selection Area, I am getting the HIT LIST, which retrieves all the employees data. As this is retrieving this information, it is taking too much time to open the transactin PA20 or PA30.
How to disable this HIT LIST function. Is this be achieved by the settings in the menu or in the configuration of Object Manager. Please check and let me know on the same

For your information, Ensured that the configuration in our Development, Quality, and Production are same. And more over we cannot change anything is quality or Production and even in testing client directly the configuration, but in Development the HIT LIST is disabled and also in Production. This is available in Quality.
This is the reason, why I just wanted to know is there any menu settings involved in disabling the same. And in the Object Manger configuration, I do not know exactly where to change as I have not checked before as there are lot of technical options.
Inputs in this regard is highly appreciated.

How to confiure the fields displayed in F4 help hit list?

Hi Gurus,
I got a strange issue.
Standard F4 help in PA20 displays a hit list of employees along with the details like name of the employee, his personnel number, his date of Birth and other details.
Now the customer requirement is as follows - The birth date being a confidential information should not be displyed to users. Therefore, there is a customizing request to hide this Date of Birth Field in the hit list given by F4 Help.
Can anyone suggest me where (under which node) exactlyconfigure the same in IMG?

Special access right for PA20 and PA30

Hello Experts!
I have a problem and was wondering how it would be configured in SAP, any help would be greatly appreciated.
How to config the security access right, if the logon user is the member of specify role, he/she is not allow to access the detail of all HR staff by using PA20 and PA30 but he/she can access the details or other staff.

Hello Antony,
Yes. it is possible. But for that you will have to uniquely indicate the HR staff group to restrict their data access by a Security definition attribute.
I suggest, you can maintain a seperate, Unique Org.Key - VDSK1 field in PA0001 (Organisational Assignment) infotype specific to HR staff. This can be used in Role Component "HR: Master Data" in the relevant role assigned to exclude the org.key specific to HR staff.

Hit list in PA20/PA30 Object Manager

When you do a search in the object manager, it comes up with the hit list at the bottom of the screen, and a label which says "hit list" - my users would like to see a total number in the hit list, in the same way it appears in adhoc query. Doe anyone know if this can be configured/customised to show the number in the hit list?

I don't think it is possible to output hit list entry quantity in standard search help however you can create a customer search help for PREM object adding a variable that would count match entries and output message thru ABAP sentence:
MESSAGE s000(zhr) WITH lv_counter 'entries found'.

Object manager free search in PA20

Hi,
I am using a custom infotype for object manager free search.
In the 'HR object selection' screen that comes after clicking on the free search, I am giving pernr and subtype 6 of infotype 6 (Addresses) with 'Value selection' and 'Value output' checked.But in the ouput that comes in the hitlist, the corresponding pernr is showed with the subtype 4 instead of 6 (ie, It is taking the first subtype available for the pernr in the hit list).
I have checked the custom infoset and it is working properly.
Is there any setting to done for this issue of object manager?

ERP HCM PA30 Object Manager

Hi all,
I am trying to customize the PA30 Object Manager - Scenario EMPLOYEE, Node P, Position 1. There is one table T77CNODORD (path "Assign Own Column Group") which allows filling in custom text for the search help node and also, theoretically at least, the assigning of custom column group.
If changing the content of table T77FNODORT the content of the column group is displayed like I want. But this table is SAP Standard table and I should not change the content.
I have seen that the label for the search help node changes, but the column group used does not change. Is this a bug, or is it really not possible to change this? Or do I miss something?

PA30- Object Manager

In PA30 if we switch on the object manager, we get a section in the left hand side "Find by".
Here we get only "Person" and under it "Collective search help", "Search Term" and "Free Search".
How can we add other objects in this section like Organizational unit, Position, Job etc. as we get in the Object Manager in PPOME

PA30 transaction is designed only to show employees.
If you add org unit, position, etc to Object manager, then it is contrary to the aim of this transaction.
If you, however, wanna see people belonging to a particular org unit or position, then you can use "Organizational Assignment" tab in the collective search help.

DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_CURSOR error when using PA20/PA30 transactions

Has anyone encountered ABAP error DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_CURSOR while trying to use transaction PA20 or PA30. We started seeing this error this morning and we currently cannot figured why.

The issue has been resolved and turned out to be as a programming error. The developer had corrected the issue. Unfortunately I don't have the details as far as which part of the code was fixed.

Object Manager calls: do they use database or search?

I am at a customer undergoing a 4.5 to 6.1 upgrade. Part of the upgrade is writing an app to consolidate our ~14,000 web services to a base set. I am using .NET and the remote APIs to do this.
My question is, do ObjectManager calls make direct calls to the database or do they use the search index? If it uses search, then I would need to wait for it to build, before running the app, which of course would take hours to build.
Spy tells me that they are database calls, but I wanted to get confirmation of that.

If you're using the IDK, the IDK function you use isn't making the call, but the existing layers of functionality does.
IDK -> http -> portal -> server api -> db
and vice versa back.
Search index is not used in the Object Manager.

Finding object dependencies using Enterprise Manager

We would like to know if it's possible to use the Enterprise Manager using version 9i or higher to determine the object dependencies of specified procedures, functions, packages, ect... If yes, what function should I be looking at?
We plan on changing some source code and we would like to determine all object dependencies that specified procedure, function or package is connected to. This would help gather and prepare our user casses and to proactively check before making changes.

On 10g, if you go to your procedure, you can pick show dependencies under actions. I believe it's the same for OEM9i, you right-click on your procedure, and you choose Show dependencies.

BOMM - metadata manager repository sql to fetch where object is used in rep

Hi,
We've been using BOMM for a few months and would now like to make our own reporting on the BOMM repository. Most information we're capable of retrieving, but not wether a certain universe object is used in the select-clause or where-clause of a reportquery. The information must be stored somewhere, because the mm explorer is can give us that information.
Can someone tell me where this information is stored and how we can get it out?
I thought it was stored in the table MMD_Query, with query_type_cd = sqls or sqlw. But the table only contains the full sql (sqlf), universe contexts (unvc) and join statements (sqlj).

ALV grid - using f4 search help - want separate value from hit list

I have the following scenario that I am trying to resolve.
I have created my own search help with a search help exit for a bespoke maintenance table which lists categories against HR positions which are to receive workflow for these categories. I am designing a front-end for this table using an ALV grid whereby the person holding that position (i.e. name) is shown instead of position number. The search help allows you to select by First name and last name and brings up a hit list which includes employee number, first name last name, formatted name field, position number, position description and org unit it belongs in.
The issue occurs where the list brings back more than one hit.
e.g.:

2 Frederic Bloggs Fred Bloggs 50000002 pos2 org 3
If you select an entry, the formatted name field goes in the ALV grid field. I call the search help via F4IF_FIELDVALUE_REQUEST using the onf4 event .
What I want to do is retrieve the position number of the entry selected and put this into another table without having to add this to my ALV grid and make available for input. I want to use name only for the input in my ALV grid (i.e. if I select the second example, the return table in F4IF_FIELDVALUE_REQUEST shows the name Fred Bloggs but does not show the position number which I need to add to another table to update my maintenance table).
Can anyone suggest any way around this?

You are right, you can add this fields as an import parameter to the list.
In Custom search help you must have marked fields as Export or Import parameters.
If field is marked as Export parameters, it will be displayed in the selection pop up.
If Import paramter check box is selected then this will be imported to the screen.
Check this SAP documentation for both these options -
Flag for IMPORT parameter of the search help
     Flag if the parameter is an import parameter.
Context information from the processed input template (screen) can be
     copied to the help process with an import parameter. Where an import
     parameter gets its values from is defined when the search help is
     attached to the corresponding field of the input template.
Flag for EXPORT parameter of the search help
Flag if the parameter is an export parameter.
Values can be returned from the hit list to the input template (screen)
     with an export parameter. The fields of the input template in which the
     contents of the export parameter are returned are defined by the search
     help attachment.

can it be possible that we can use owner approval in Distribution list management in FIM 2010 Portal???
Customer not using Exchange in their environment we have use another solution for ower approval.

Go to SM31 - T77S0 and create the following entry:
YPPOM YPRBT PRINT_OFF
Now your print button will disappear.
For other buttons, I don't guess there is a solution.
